Simply excellent fish and chips. Best in Deventer.

I have been in London. I have been in Dublin. And guess where the best fish'n'chips is served? Of course in Deventer. After being here 2nd time I can not say anything negative. Once again the food was perfect and atmosphere superb.

We ordered the fish bucket for two to take away, and it was a bit small for two people. We didn't think 350 grams of fish for €35 was much, even with salad. It turned out it was supposed to come with fries, but upon closer inspection, they'd forgotten them. We were refunded €15 for the forgotten fries and the inconvenience, which we thought was very generous. And perhaps most importantly: the fish was absolutely delicious!

Highly recommended! If only for the super friendly and helpful staff. I had a delicious vegan fish fillet. The fish practically melted in my mouth, just like a classic fish and chips. And the setting? Colorful, cozy, and perfectly in keeping with the theme.

We've been coming to Beryl's since the coronavirus pandemic: delicious food, value for money! They also deliver!

The service is great. They are so friendly. I really like how they approach. The open place under the church is so nice. The food is really good but not as good as Greek Taverna. Plenty of Vegan options. You must definitely come and try yourself. It’s like a hidden treasure in Deventer. Highly recommend.

Fantastic vegan and gluten free options. The fries are just right, the banana blossom is nicely seasoned and crispy and the service is very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend this and would go again myself.

The idea was a quick bite to eat before our concert at the Burgerweeshuis, but it became an almost full meal. Very relaxed and personal service, fantastic food, the veggie and fish dishes were great for meat eaters like us!

I went here to eat with my buddy before we went to a concert. They took this into account (wow) and the service was professional and super sweet. The restaurant looks nice. A lovely day visiting Deventer from the UK ended with perfect fish & chips at Beryl's. Very fresh fish in light crispy batter served very hot. It was very busy and deservedly so.

Surprising Find! Amazing food choices, Vegan options as well as Fish options! We found this gem in the center of Deventer…food is just amazing, variety of drinks options are available and service is great! If you are vegan or not it should not be missed! A suggestion to the owner: We think you should look into putting up a bigger font on the front side of the restaurant. We passed by several times in the past but never noticed the restaurant is there :) and we regret not visiting early. We will definitely come back to try other dishes.

Great food! Not a standard menu like the one you can eat 'anywhere'. Friendly and nice owner who passionately takes the time to explain everything to you and tell you about the menu. We ate the fish and chips deliciously while enjoying a special beer!

Very nice that Beryl has gluten-free food. Our grandson has celiac disease, which is no small feat and we ensure that he does not ingest a crumb of gluten. Continue to eat vegan. That's for ourselves. Quite difficult for us to visit catering establishments. But that's how it works best! A note: In fact, Beryl serves vegan junk food. We would love healthier food: lots of different fruits and vegetables, whole grains, beans and so on!

Nice, a store with tasty vegetarian options for my table companions. I personally had cod in a crispy jacket with salad. This was fine, average. The tomato soup with fish was really good. I eventually got this from the house because it took a very long time (there was hardly anyone on the terrace). I thought it was resolved very well. The service was also very nice. My dining companions were satisfied with the vegetarian dishes and the place on the square near the church was very nice.

Before our vacation, I found out whether and where you can eat gluten-free in Deventer. I also asked about the preparation via a chat. In the restaurant we explicitly pointed this out again and asked. The dish is marked with the gluten-free symbol on the menu. Fries and salad are served with it. Unfortunately, we were only told afterwards that an ingredient in the salad was probably not gluten-free - that shouldn't happen!!! My nephew then suffered the consequences with severe stomach cramps and vomiting. :-(

Small but nice! Ate here for the second time. Best fish and chips outside the UK! Extensive beer list and recommended beer was super tasty with the dish. Surprising topping on salad and white pudding for dessert is highly recommended! Will definitely come back.

Above all, the great service and the beautiful location with good ventilation are convincing, so that you don't smell of food even after an extended visit. Been eating at Beryl's at least once a year for 5 years and from day 1 the best fish and chips I know. We have to drive a long way to this wonderful city. The anniversary menu, fish soup - fish & chips - sticky toffee pudding, is highly recommended. Reservations are recommended.

This is such a lovely place with such a friendly owner. I did not have much time to eat and she made it possible. The atmosphere of this small restaurant is very nice, inside or sitting outside next to the church with a nice view. The fries & fish are made separately and glutenfree, the batter for the fish is made i.e. of chickpeas. It was sooo tasty, the portion is quite big, the dip was also nice. And such friendly and helpful staff! Thanks a lot for being allergy/ food intolerance aware. I will come back :-)

I just ordered the Hake with fries, salad and Scottish egg and it was delivered nice and hot and well packaged. The fish is of very good quality and the coating around it was super tasty. Light and crispy. As if the batter had been made with sparkling spring water. The Scotch egg is also very tasty. Highly recommended. The sauces, fries and salad are also worth it. Unfortunately no photos were taken. I was attracted to the delicious food.

To be honest, I haven't had much better vegan food than this for these prices, with enough choice for the whole family. In addition to the excellent food, the boss and the service were super friendly, it was nicely decorated in a beautiful location with a view of the tower. We happened to walk by, because even though we had searched for "vegan restaurant Deventer", this restaurant was not at the top of the results list, even though they well deserve that place. Go try it yourself!

We come here regularly and it is always so delicious! The lemon shrimps and the tofu fish & chips are our recommendations. And all the desserts are really great. Go here ❤️

Vanavond heerlijk gegeten! Durf wel te zeggen dat het de lekkerste kabeljauw is die ik ooit heb gehad! Het personeel was zo vriendelijk, behulpzaam en erg leuk met onze 2 kleine kinderen. Bedankt, we hebben genoten!

Ik heb hier met mijn veganistische dochter gegeten. Ik had kabeljauw met patat, mijn dochter nam de vegan kibbeling. De kabeljauw had een fantastisch krokante buitenlaag. Gemaakt met kikkererwt, kwam de super enthousiaste kokkin ons vertellen. Ook de 'kibbeling' werd voorzien van uitleg. Heel leuk om mensen zo enthousiast over hun product te horen vertellen. De salade bij de kibbeling zag er fantastisch uit en mijn patat was ook echt patat: de aardappel met schil duidelijk nog herkenbaar. De hoeveelheid was nogal overweldigend voor ons (we hadden nog vegan mix balletjes als voorgerecht genomen. Ook heerlijk en verrassend verschillend) en we kregen de resten keurig verpakt en in een papieren zakje mee met instructies voor opwarmen. En ook de volgende dag me weer verbaasd over de kwaliteit, zelfs de patatjes waren weer lekker. Kortom: verrassend (en) goed op meerdere fronten.

Es ist wirklich der Beste Fisch in town! Das Essen ist super frisch mit Liebe zubereitet und was soll ich sagen: Es schmeckt einfach! Auch meinem Freund, der eigentlich kein Backfisch-Fan ist, hat es gefallen. Den Salat dazu zubestellen kann ich nur empfehlen! Einfach köstlich! Das Ambiente ist besonders und einladend. Auch die Besitzer strahlen eine willkommende, herzliche Art aus🥰 Ich würde meine Familie definitiv mal dorthin mitnehmen. Ich weiss nicht, ob man sich dort auch einen Backfisch to-go bestellen könnte, wenn es voll ist, da das Lokal nicht allzu gross ist, aber dies wäre dann eine gute Alternative für diesen Fall. Ansonsten einen kleinen Spaziergang am hübschen Hafen machen und danach nochmals schau'n, es lohnt sich! 😊 Ein sehr, sehr toller Laden. Könnte ich 10 Sterne vergeben, würd' ich dies hier tun!

As somebody who does not eat gluten this place rocked my world with the banana flower... Delicious!! Personally I don't have celiac but was very happy that the owner checked my level of intolerance and whether or not they need to use a separate oil and clean surfaces etc, that's really special and rare in my limited experience. Minpuntje is dat de frites (goedkoop product voor de restauranthouder) wat meer mochten zijn, alles bij elkaar was het net te weinig voor een volwassen man. Maar dat mag de pret niet drukken! Great fish & chips spot we accidentally stumbled upon. Starting off with the welcoming staff and good atmosphere. Upon sitting down the first (and only) moment of stress set in: the menu options are amazing (for both beer and food). But let me tell you, making a decision was difficult: it all seemed so good. And let me tell you: it was. Highly recommended, good pricing combined with great taste and amazing staff. Will be visiting again.
