After a long wait, we received no food and did not get our money back. We placed and paid for an order via the website. That evening we waited a long time, but received no food. This is already scandalous, but then the phone is not answered and emails to get our money back are not responded to. It is very unfortunate, because the food was tasty on previous occasions, but ordering here is now literally wasted money.

We chose Het Arsenaal in Deventer because of its good reputation and the expectation that we could offer our guests a special evening. Unfortunately, the experience turned out to be quite disappointing. Due to the bad weather, the courtyard was closed. I had called in advance to ask for an alternative, and we were promised a table by the window overlooking the courtyard. Upon arrival, we were greeted kindly and escorted to our table. It was indeed located by the courtyard, but also directly next to the entrance to the kitchen and the waste disposal area. As a result, the staff constantly walked past with plates, cutlery, and waste, which caused a lot of disruption. It then took quite a long time before someone came to ask if we wanted something to drink. The food was also disappointing. The flavors were out of balance; the amuse-bouche lacked the promised crispy texture and seemed reheated rather than freshly prepared. My red snapper was completely overpowered by the fennel, making the fish barely tasteable. During dinner, no one came to inquire if everything was to our liking. It was only when the plates were being cleared that I was able to provide my comments as constructive feedback. Unfortunately, nothing further was done about it. The cappuccino was also a disappointment. It was weak and tasted mostly like water. Instead of offering a new cappuccino, the waiter suggested adding “just an extra shot of coffee.” When I explained that a cappuccino is different from a café latte, the reaction was one of surprise. To finish, we chose the cheese platter. When we asked for an explanation of the different cheeses, we were told that we could read this ourselves on the accompanying card. That felt neither welcoming nor personal. Given the prices, which are clearly higher than at many other restaurants, one should expect a high level of quality, service, and hospitality. It was precisely on these points that Het Arsenaal fell short for us. Even the toilets gave an outdated and poorly maintained impression. This review is not intended to be a sarcastic criticism, but rather genuine feedback. Het Arsenaal has built up a fine reputation; it would be a shame if that were lost due to insufficient attention to the guest experience and feedback. Despite this, we had a nice evening thanks to our guests, but certainly not thanks to the restaurant. For us, this was unfortunately the first and last time.

Highly recommended! Had a delicious meal at YOF Café in Deventer. Everything was tasty and the atmosphere was cozy. What stood out most was how customer-friendly the staff is. You really feel welcome there. Definitely recommended if you want to enjoy good food and excellent service. We would love to come back again!

Totally misleading photos. Ordered a truffle burger, but there was barely any/no truffle on it and no caramelized onions. You expect a lot, but unfortunately not.

They have high ambitions and their prices reflect that, but they consistently fall short of achieving them—which is a shame. A beautiful courtyard, though.
