FANTASTIC BAR cheap beer and EMILIO was the best bartender!

Fantastic bar, only friendly staff and nice people!!!

Dear owner or whoever is replying to our reviews, knowing that we can't reply back... Making up lies just to justify your aggresive behaviour is not going to work. There was no beers that night, and no, it wasn't a new year's eve, it was the day I wrote the review, but you already know that😜. We were drinking coca cola, cola zero and two ice teas, because the atmosphere in the bar was horrific and even alcohol couldn't fix it. You can just apologise for the owner's aggressive behaviour and mistake, since we really did order 4 drinks, paid for them and sit inside the bar for 30 minutes already, and move on, but you make up the dumbest story ever "throwing beers at each other"..😂 Anyways I saw other reviews saying the same story and they were foreigners too, so you might be xenophobic. I wish you a wonderful 2026 too and maybe a psychologist?

Everyone is great, good conversations with the owner, one of the few "real" Amsterdam bars left. Definitely a must if you're at leidseplein.

I've never had a problem. Drinks are good, reasonably priced, the staff is all great and welcoming. The bad reviews are most likely unfounded.

The owner was extremely aggressive and rude for no reason raising his voice, repeating that “it’s his bar and his rules,” and making us feel unwelcome the entire time. Instead of simply talking to us, he kept hovering and arguing, which completely ruined the atmosphere. This is not how guests should be treated. Definitely not coming back.

We ordered 4 drinks (4 of us sitting inside) and the two of us went to the toilet, me and my sister, the boss of the bar stopped us by yelling "we're not charity" after what I politely said to him that we are sitting in the bar and ordered 4 drinks (already have been drinking it). Then he started yelling at us that he is the boss and we obey by his rules, going into my face and screaming at me that he's the boss. Then he didn't want to leave us alone to go pee. The worst bar ever...

Amazing place owned by a local. The vibe is great and the owner and his staff are super friendly! Highly recommended.

The bartender was protecting our table, he’s a true hero

We were lured into the bar by people urging us to buy drinks. When we arrived and hadn't ordered anything for about 10 minutes, we were rudely asked to leave. I really can't recommend this bar to anyone. It was also very empty and the staff were very unfriendly.

Biblos is the best bar of all time. Paul is the goat, he makes every customer laugh and feel welcomed. No bar will ever top Biblos!

Biblos Amsterdam isn’t just a bar—it’s a sacred institution of good times, questionable decisions, and legendary hangovers. I’ve been going here for years, and at this point, it’s basically my living room with better lighting and a stronger tequila selection. I had my wedding party here, which tells you everything: it’s not just a place to drink, it’s a place to celebrate life, love, and the magical ability to dance badly until 3am. The owner? Absolute hero. Knows your drink before you say it, remembers your wildest nights better than you do, and somehow still lets you back in. This place has seen it all—impromptu dance-offs, deep life talks at the bar, and enough boozy nights to fund a small vineyard. It’s the kind of spot where time blurs, the music’s always on point, and the regulars become extended family (the loud, slightly tipsy kind). If walls could talk, Biblos would probably be arrested. But thankfully they don’t, so we keep coming back. Five stars, two Advils, and one hell of a place to write your best stories.

What a great atmosphere in the Biblos. We had a reservation for a surprise party but what a party Emiel, Boris and crew made of it again. Old-fashioned craftsmanship! My girlfriend had an unforgettable evening (and I will too). Thx!

Gorgeous setting, expensive drinks, unpleasant staff

After a 2.5 hour show by the Edwin Evers Band in the Melkweg, the four of us were ready to sit down and enjoy a drink (or a few more). We climbed the "mind your step" steps and entered a, for us, nostalgic world. Brown pub? Yes, the only concession was that there were no tablecloths on the table. We were the only ones for the time being, which meant that the boss and the staff had plenty of time to spend with us. Do you have tripel? No! Do you have Verdego? No! Do you have Chardonnay? No! Do you have any other beer on tap than Bav? No! Do you have Johnny Walker Rood? No! So we didn't get up, but switched to the house wine, the baco's and the black label/cola. And then... we had a great time chatting with the owner, requesting music with or without a video clip, no problem. The liquid snacks flowed freely, including a drink that resembled the regular dropshot that is normally not to be sipped, but this one was great! Then it was time for some brown fruit, here too a no, not from our own kitchen, but you can order via an app and it will be brought to you by the maker within 10 minutes. Great concept! I don't remember what we talked about, but I do remember a few things: 1. On the other side is the canal, ideal for women who eat too thick slices of space cake to go over their necks, and that the various stages of unwellness in that case can easily be solved by administering some sugar. 2. On average, 24 people drown in Amsterdam each year. In the case of male deaths, the police first check whether the fly was open, if that is the case, then suicide or a crime is almost ruled out in advance. And what did we have to pay for all the drinks and the wise lessons? Too little, but the four of us from Middelburg didn't mind!

The owner of the place is a violent man. I had a horrible traumatic experience there.

Kina*(sorry I probably misspelled this) was the nicest bartender. She gave us tips for around the city and taught us about the local liquor. Definitely recommend this bar before going to a show at the melkweg!!

Lovely staff, I had a good time there on a Friday night and accidentally forgot my bag there. Emiel was quick and helpful in replying to my messages when I asked if my bag was still there. Would recommend!

Thank god for their music taste and 4€ shots. In one of the bars nearby I asked for a shot and it was 7.3€, almost cried then..

Don't get me wrong, place is small, bad playlist with 30 years of tacky songs but you sing them anyway and random videos hahah! Place is perfect for that last beer or for those 3 or 4 in between things. Emilio and crew will greet you in the entrance, warmest welcome in AMS!
