Cosy and friendly. Felt welcome and the owner was very attentive to all his clients. Would have liked to have stayed longer but had a train to catch !

I went here with 3 others and I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area. It has a great themed interior and a list of beers longer than what you could ask for. It's ran by a lovely bloke and has calm tenants. Great spot.

What a lovely afternoon I had here. The terrace is a fantastic spot to enjoy a craft beer in the sunshine. The charcuterie board with various types of cheese and the fresh bread was truly perfectly presented. The colorful piece of cheese, in particular, stood out from the rest. I will definitely be back here again.

Only had beer. Delicious craft beer available. There are seats outside as well, but inside it is a dark pub. I personally prefer sitting outside. We should have many more places like this in the Netherlands.

Fantastic bar with well over 100 beers to choose from. The owner and James de Barhond were very friendly and sociable which made our visit quite memorable. I definitely recommend stopping by and having a few drinks and a cheese platter. The cheeses are much more flavorful compared to the cheeses from the local museums.

The place stinks of deep-fried food and the bartender was also very unfriendly, no hello or anything and we were practically glared at. Then people were also kicked out because they supposedly smelled. Peculiar.

Over 100 beers 🍻 and over 1000 ducks 🦆!!! The crazy thing is, neither is even very visible at first. Upon entering, you're warmly greeted by Jeroen, the walking beer encyclopedia. Man, oh man, that guy knew so much about the wet stuff. We had a wonderful afternoon with lots of different, special beers and stories.

Hahaha, I’ve never been there and I’m not a beer lover either, except for a 0.0%, but I’m afraid I won’t be able to find that there. I just wanted to read the owner’s responses to the bad reviews anyway, and I think it’s great. He takes a lot of time to explain to the reader what happened, and in the cases I’ve read, I completely agree with him. It is a shame, though, that social media is misused like this by people who feel the need to lie on the ground stamping their feet like a crying child when they don’t get something or can’t get it. The owner chooses to run his business the way he sees fit, and you just have to respect that. There are plenty of pubs where you can get whatever you want; business is business, but not this man. I think that’s good for his genuine beer-loving customers and, above all, to be respected.

We were standing at the door, not even about to go inside, when someone came out and said: "Bachelor parties are not welcome here," in a grumpy tone. I have enjoyed a beer here several times, but not anymore. That this is the position is possible, but the way it was delivered is not okay.

A fantastic place with a huge choice of beers. Historic building and quirky decor - never seen so many ducks ! Super friendly owner too - very down to earth for an international tv star 😀 - and a nice pub dog as a bonus. An absolute must visit if you like beer that's not the usual lager etc. As a lover of micropubs at home in the UK, this was like a home from home. Been in the general area for 8 days and this was easily the best place I've been to.

They offer a small but solid selection of craft beers on tap, along with an extremely wide variety of bottled beers, which is truly impressive. You can even browse their full beer list on their website. They also serve their own house beer in cans, which adds a nice touch to the experience. It would be even better if their house beer was also available as a fresh draft, to enjoy it at its best. The atmosphere is nice,If you’re into trying different beer styles, this place is definitely worth a visit.

De bierselectie is goed, met een ruime keuze aan interessante bieren. Helaas laat de sfeer te wensen over. De ruimte oogt onverzorgd, wat afbreuk doet aan de beleving. Bovendien kan de gastheer nog wel een cursus gastvrijheid gebruiken. Ondanks het sterke bieraanbod maakt de algehele ervaring het niet tot een plek waar je graag blijft hangen. Met wat meer aandacht voor gastvrijheid zou dit een veel aantrekkelijkere bestemming kunnen zijn.

First time in Gouda visiting the town wanting to enjoy a good beer. Very strange atmosphere upon entering the establishment, not a sign of politeness from the waiter although we were not unpleasant when arriving with a hello. It was the first time someone spoke to me like that, I literally felt like a dog. In a word, not a hello, not a word, just get out of there. Not a single sign of politeness even though we are adults. If we did not respect a rule of the establishment, the least we can do is still speak to our customers with respect. If you are not Dutch, move on because you will probably have a rather unexpected reaction for a bar that is nevertheless well rated.

Oh dear, does it make sense to give our opinion, between all the violence of fantastic reviews, and the even more fantastic (!) reactions of the bar owner (we'll call him Jeroen)? I'll give it a try anyway. Just before the rain starts to break, we dive in the door and are welcomed very warmly. After studying the beers on tap and the rest of the beer menu, via the ubiquitous QR code, the order is taken and delivered to the table in no time while enjoying, yes, a fresh bowl of tiger nuts. And interesting facts about the brewery of the chosen beer. Jeroen is busy with the other guests and (I think) keeps a close eye on whether we suffer from dehydration. Because that won't happen, I can see him thinking. After some more chatting, it's time for a slightly 'heavier' beer and on request we get two tasting glasses, so that we can drink the can together. A perfect location in terms of atmosphere, hospitality and choice of drinks (read beer). If you want to have a bite to eat, that is also possible, but you will have to search for the menu. At the back of the restaurant, on the kitchen door, there is a large sign with the options. If you are sitting at the front, it is difficult to decipher. That does not mean that Jeroen will not probably be happy to tell you all the dishes, and how difficult is that. Bitterballen and vlammetjes are always good with any beer. In short, a long story to indicate that we had a good time for a few hours. If we are in the area again, we will gladly come back. An invitation for a Christmas dinner seems like something for us…! Excellent little find loved this bar, only thing was there was no wine ,and I don't drink beer,well now I'm converted the bar owner said what wine do I like he bought me a beautiful beer which was absolutely georgous ,I'm now a beer drinker, thankyou , wonderful gent ,who also advised us on where to go for stunning food, Good beer prices and a massive selection too, we will be back. Also very homely friendly people in the bar with nice warm fire.

Good brewery. The person who served us was very kind and attentive at all times. They have a variety of beers and the atmosphere is very nice. Lots of people come; apparently the bar is well-known in the city. The prices are reasonable.

A perfect spot to spend a couple of hours in Gouda. Cosy setting with around nine beers on tap, offering a variety of styles from triple IPAs to stouts and sours. Added to this is an extensive selection of bottled beers. Owner was knowledgeable and very nice to chat to, I was surprised seeing the negative reviews here. Everyone communicates differently, and if you come in with an open mind and avoid assuming directness equals rudeness, you'll have a great experience.

I'd rather drink a warm can of supermarket larger behind a dumpster than to set foot in this place again. The owner thinks he is a flowery character but doesn't understand the difference between humour and rudeness. He treats paying customers like homeless beggars; you've ruined his day by daring to walk in and exchange money for services in his "establishment". He pains himself to speak English and physically cringes when somebody doesn't order one of his obscure (expensive) beers. Yet if you ask him what's a good local beer you will receive some clever response that is unhelpful with a good deal of mocking. There's a "if you don't like it, then go somewhere else" theme about every aspect of this place. So if you're looking for a horrible back alley sewer water hole to have a drink, Bobs your uncle.

Just a good specialty beer cafe. Here you don't ask for half liters, but you ask the bartender what delicious specialty beer he has. The owner knows a lot about beer and has a great dry, good sense of humor. All those people who whine and moan, just don't come. Then the enthusiasts simply have a pleasant day

Authentic beer cafe with its own atmosphere, don't expect loud music and make sure you take your time. You pay more than for a beer at the market, but you do get good beer, usually with a nice story. Special mention for the bartender who is more like a beer encyclopedia than a dime a dozen catering employee. Tip: if you indicate what you previously thought was a nice beer, the bartender can make a good recommendation.

Last week I told a colleague that I know a pub that does not serve wine. Completely surprised, but I also said that if you tell us which wine you like, you will get a very tasty beer that suits your taste. A beer café like no other! A great experience every time!

Nice tent, just too small and a bit missing the next step. Seems to have become a cheap beer pub. A good assortment. This above was seven years ago. I got it right, not in my review but with an eye to the future. The size makes it nice in my eyes. Assorted better every time. Best in the area.

Meerder maal geweest en keren hier vaak jaarlijks nog terug met vrienden. Een groot assortiment aan bier en een eigenaar die ook veel kennis heeft. De bar zelf is ook super gezellig en knus.

Een cafe zoals het hoort te zijn . Gezellige eigenaar met heerlijk biertjes en snacks . De kazen en worsten zijn heerlijk maar natuurlijk ook de vele soorten special biertjes .we waren een week end op Landal en zijn met de stadsbus naar Gouda gegaan en ontdekte dit cafe.
