Biercafé De Goudse Eend is a great spot for beer lovers visiting Gouda. They offer a small but solid selection of craft beers on tap, along with an extremely wide variety of bottled beers, which is truly impressive. You can even browse their full beer list on their website. They also serve their own house beer in cans, which adds a nice touch to the experience. It would be even better if their house beer was also available as a fresh draft, to enjoy it at its best. The atmosphere is nice,If you’re into trying different beer styles, this place is definitely worth a visit.

De bierselectie is goed, met een ruime keuze aan interessante bieren. Helaas laat de sfeer te wensen over. De ruimte oogt onverzorgd, wat afbreuk doet aan de beleving. Bovendien kan de gastheer nog wel een cursus gastvrijheid gebruiken. Ondanks het sterke bieraanbod maakt de algehele ervaring het niet tot een plek waar je graag blijft hangen. Met wat meer aandacht voor gastvrijheid zou dit een veel aantrekkelijkere bestemming kunnen zijn.

First time in Gouda visiting the town wanting to enjoy a good beer. Very strange atmosphere upon entering the establishment, not a sign of politeness from the waiter although we were not unpleasant when arriving with a hello. It was the first time someone spoke to me like that, I literally felt like a dog. In a word, not a hello, not a word, just get out of there. Not a single sign of politeness even though we are adults. If we did not respect a rule of the establishment, the least we can do is still speak to our customers with respect. If you are not Dutch, move on because you will probably have a rather unexpected reaction for a bar that is nevertheless well rated.

Oh dear, does it make sense to give our opinion, between all the violence of fantastic reviews, and the even more fantastic (!) reactions of the bar owner (we'll call him Jeroen)? I'll give it a try anyway. Just before the rain starts to break, we dive in the door and are welcomed very warmly. After studying the beers on tap and the rest of the beer menu, via the ubiquitous QR code, the order is taken and delivered to the table in no time while enjoying, yes, a fresh bowl of tiger nuts. And interesting facts about the brewery of the chosen beer. Jeroen is busy with the other guests and (I think) keeps a close eye on whether we suffer from dehydration. Because that won't happen, I can see him thinking. After some more chatting, it's time for a slightly 'heavier' beer and on request we get two tasting glasses, so that we can drink the can together. A perfect location in terms of atmosphere, hospitality and choice of drinks (read beer). If you want to have a bite to eat, that is also possible, but you will have to search for the menu. At the back of the restaurant, on the kitchen door, there is a large sign with the options. If you are sitting at the front, it is difficult to decipher. That does not mean that Jeroen will not probably be happy to tell you all the dishes, and how difficult is that. Bitterballen and vlammetjes are always good with any beer. In short, a long story to indicate that we had a good time for a few hours. If we are in the area again, we will gladly come back. An invitation for a Christmas dinner seems like something for us…! Excellent little find loved this bar, only thing was there was no wine ,and I don't drink beer,well now I'm converted the bar owner said what wine do I like he bought me a beautiful beer which was absolutely georgous ,I'm now a beer drinker, thankyou , wonderful gent ,who also advised us on where to go for stunning food, Good beer prices and a massive selection too, we will be back. Also very homely friendly people in the bar with nice warm fire.

Good brewery. The person who served us was very kind and attentive at all times. They have a variety of beers and the atmosphere is very nice. Lots of people come; apparently the bar is well-known in the city. The prices are reasonable.

A perfect spot to spend a couple of hours in Gouda. Cosy setting with around nine beers on tap, offering a variety of styles from triple IPAs to stouts and sours. Added to this is an extensive selection of bottled beers. Owner was knowledgeable and very nice to chat to, I was surprised seeing the negative reviews here. Everyone communicates differently, and if you come in with an open mind and avoid assuming directness equals rudeness, you'll have a great experience.

Just a good specialty beer cafe. Here you don't ask for half liters, but you ask the bartender what delicious specialty beer he has. The owner knows a lot about beer and has a great dry, good sense of humor. All those people who whine and moan, just don't come. Then the enthusiasts simply have a pleasant day

I'd rather drink a warm can of supermarket larger behind a dumpster than to set foot in this place again. The owner thinks he is a flowery character but doesn't understand the difference between humour and rudeness. He treats paying customers like homeless beggars; you've ruined his day by daring to walk in and exchange money for services in his "establishment". He pains himself to speak English and physically cringes when somebody doesn't order one of his obscure (expensive) beers. Yet if you ask him what's a good local beer you will receive some clever response that is unhelpful with a good deal of mocking. There's a "if you don't like it, then go somewhere else" theme about every aspect of this place. So if you're looking for a horrible back alley sewer water hole to have a drink, Bobs your uncle.

Authentic beer cafe with its own atmosphere, don't expect loud music and make sure you take your time. You pay more than for a beer at the market, but you do get good beer, usually with a nice story. Special mention for the bartender who is more like a beer encyclopedia than a dime a dozen catering employee. Tip: if you indicate what you previously thought was a nice beer, the bartender can make a good recommendation.

Where do you start with complimenting this great place in Gouda, I'll give it a try! The decor is unique, if yellow is your favorite color then you've come to the right place. A really cozy atmosphere and a nice beer garden! The cozy appearance is certainly due to the skilled owner. It is not only his knowledge about beer that he can talk passionately about. He is just a genuinely nice person who is also interested in chatting with you. The beers (of which you never order half a liter, because half a liter of 12% is just a stupid idea) are well selected and if you don't know anything about beer, the owner can tap or pour you a delicious beer by asking specific questions. . I'm a fan, unfortunately I live a little further away otherwise I would definitely visit more often! 5⭐️ for the Gouda Duck and the owner!

The bartender is really socially inappropriate, I don't understand how he can react so bizarrely.

Usually my favorite café in Gouda, where I like to drink a specialty beer. I was therefore looking forward to bringing my friends along, because they also like to drink a nice beer. A few more friends showed up than expected, but it seemed like it was still going well. With 11 people and a stroller/baby, we entered enthusiastically and thirsty. I couldn't find Jeroen (the pub owner) quickly, but I did see two empty tables and figured that would fit perfectly. While we find our place and park the stroller in the play area, while we try not to hinder the flow to the toilets, Jeroen comes out from the kitchen. Even before I can speak to him to explain our (perhaps somewhat bold) entrance, a friend is spoken to very unpleasantly with a leftover coke from the snack bar I just visited. She is not welcome because of the leftover Coke she brought with her. Even before this has reached everyone, Jeroen makes it clear from behind the bar that he is not happy with our presence. All in all, a very cozy and knowledgeable specialty beer café, but with a very protectionist and specific owner. I will definitely go there again with my brother, a friend or my wife, for example, but I don't dare to do it with a group of friends anymore. The beer will probably remain good for a while, but this evening leaves me with a slightly unpleasant aftertaste!

We came in with a group of 10 and there was plenty of room. We were really looking forward to enjoying the good selection of specialty beers all evening. A friend from our group likes to come here and had told us about the sweet dog that always lies on the floor. One lady in the group still had two sips of cola in her can and that was enough reason for the bartender to unceremoniously throw the entire group outside. No explanation or understanding possible. If you would rather not have a group of 10 in, we would have understood that and left, but now it felt a bit strange. Bad taste for all the anticipation we had. In any case, I won't be coming back.

What a fabulous little bar/pub. The owner knows his stuff, that's for sure. With hundreds of beers to choose from, this place is for the beer lovers. Service is always great, and the small garden at the back is a great place to chill on a warm summers afternoon.

First rate craft beer bar in Gouda. Owner is friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. A fantastic selection of beers both local and international. I even got to taste two Brewdog beers that I simply can’t get back in England. There are many good beer bars in the Netherlands but this was one of the best and is highly recommended.

The bartender here is so incredibly rude. We wanted to have a few nice beers here, but after being almost knocked over by the best man who is clearly not skilled in communication, we decided to leave. This man would be better off looking for another job perhaps or finding more enjoyment in life. Funny how in every negative reaction it is the customer's fault according to the owner. I didn't hear a please, because that would have made the situation completely different. And I just assumed that we would have actually sat at another empty table if there had been one. Apparently twisting the truth is easier than just being nice.

What a horror. Saturday evening and 4 empty stools, we sat down there. The bartender walks past us with the words 'this is not the intention. Go sit somewhere else' in a very unfriendly manner. You don't talk to people like that, especially not to guests. They left immediately, the atmosphere was nothing to write home about.

If you like beer and you are in Gouda, then you have to go to the Goudse Eend. It's not very complicated. Always tasty treats on tap or from the extensive bottle/can menu.

Slightly grumpy bartender. I saw on the website of a specific brewery that the Gouda duck would serve this beer. When I asked about it, the barman told me that they do not have the beer in question on the menu. When I told them that the brewery in question indicates this on their website, I was bluntly told that this is not their problem. Bit of a defensive useless response. Afterwards he came up with alternative beers, but I was completely done with it after his first reaction. That's not how you treat customers. Left after 1 drink.
