Big Bread Kitchen Challenge in Wijk 55 Voorthuizen

We came here because of the good reviews. The wait was extremely long! We waited over an hour for our food. Considering how highly praised the fries are in the Netherlands, these were just plain, run-of-the-mill fries. Nothing special. What a shame! The food didn't taste particularly good either. The meat side dishes were displayed frozen, very unappealingly, in a refrigerated display case next to the cash register. Nothing was freshly prepared. "Thawed and cooked" seems to be the motto here.

Very bad. The Kapsalon had shawarma meat consisting of tough rind and fatty bacon – no meat to be seen. I returned it, and it was made again. Same story. Bad news.

Nice people, but I couldn't really understand them very well.. The fries were good and there was plenty of them. I just found the sauce a bit on the meager side.

If I were reviewing a regular chip shop, it would have been just fine. But they claim to be more than that, and that is what the review is based on. Half of our party had fries with a snack, and that was fine, though there was very little sauce with the admittedly expensive catamaran. The other half had a salad, and they were truly a joke. I don't quite understand how you can serve this and then, with a straight face, put photos of beautiful salads on the menu and charge a hefty price for them. Everything with iceberg lettuce, even the carpaccio salad. Everything with the same honey mustard dressing, yes, even the carpaccio salad. Brie salad: iceberg lettuce, a tomato, a bit of cucumber, dressing, 5 slices of tasteless brie. Carpaccio salad the same (yes, cucumber and tomato too), but instead of brie, bad carpaccio (looked like smoked meat) and undercooked pine nuts. Paid reluctantly, but it was not a good experience. There were also people vaping and smoking.

Tasty food, good burger, delicious fries, and a good place to sit. Especially for a snack bar. Friendly, cheerful, and driven staff.

The staff was friendly enough, but from the videos I was expecting fresh cut fries and handmade burger patties. I ordered the wagyu burger. It was all ok, but frozen fries and premade frozen patty. It's an average snack bar but not a high quality burger bar as advertised

The fries were definitely not fresh, just frozen fries, even though it was indicated that they were fresh. The service came to our table very late.

Prices are good, food is great, staff is friendly and the establishment is really clean, cozy and comfortable. Would recommend to anyone in the area.

Good snack bar with really tasty fries. The fries were fresh and nice and crispy, and the service was fast and friendly. Definitely recommended if you are looking for a snack bar in the area.

Ordered for 10 adults and 9 children at one of the holiday parks. The order was delivered right on time and nice and warm. Fantastic!

I ordered a European burger like the one in the picture, but it didn't come with cheese, as shown. I asked if I could have a slice of cheese on the burger after all, but I was met with a very rude response from a staff member who didn't speak much Dutch, and I had to pay an extra €1.50 for a slice of cheese that, according to the menu, should be there. The burger also tasted awful.

Dear reader of this 1-star review, This review is completely justified. Two hours after placing the order (order placed at 10:55, but at 10:55 it still hadn't arrived), we were told that our order hadn't been prepared yet. The delivery driver even claimed to the lovely employee on the phone, whom we also spoke to after repeatedly calling in, that he had waited 20 minutes at the selected address. At first, I thought this wasn't the case, dear reader. I myself had waited almost an hour and a half outside for this delivery driver at the front of the address (as described in the order description). During that time, only one car had stopped at the address and then left again shortly after. The driver hadn't checked in with us or stopped for a moment. Why would he? During those two hours, we also received a call saying that the driver was on his way. Finally, after four calls and a total of 138 minutes (8:14 PM), the fries finally arrived. And guess what? That one car that had passed me twice was, you guessed it, our delivery driver! He apparently hadn't thought to call about the fact that no one was coming to the door (instructions were to go to the front, not the front door). It's great that these people, besides providing disappointing service, also have people who can't read. Our compensation for all this long wait? One cup of soft serve ice cream. If you made it this far in this review, thank you for your time. If you have to take one thing away from this review: spend your money elsewhere.

Delicious food. Wide variety of burgers and snacks.

It took a very long time before we could eat

We came here because of the high number of stars. Very friendly staff. Lots of choice on the menu. But, unfortunately, pricey and small portions. The large fries were not large, the burgers disappeared into the buns, the special sauce was just mayo with curry, the onion was not raw but fried (as in the picture).

We were thinking if it’s worth to go here or is better to go MC , so we decided to give a try ! I would definitely recommend visiting here at least once , cause the taste of their French fries and burgers were unexpectedly good! Service was nice and friendly, place was busy and not the comfortable for 3-4 people to seat and eat but it’s forgivable!

Had a delicious meal (takeaway)

We got takeout from here twice during our stay in Voorthuizen. The Brazilian burger with the jamballa sauce is really delicious. The fries and Twister are also great. The staff is very friendly. Everything seems very clean.

Plenty of seating great selection of burgers friendly staff

The food is very tasty and not expensive compared to prices of other snack bars. A downside is that no gloves are used when picking up the raw food and throwing it in the fryer.

The gluten free snacks are always good here, are baked with the fries. Never had any problems. Friendly staff.

Lots of choice and the steak salad was tasty (lettuce with mustard-dill dressing + meat with teriyaki sauce). Burgers with a wide choice of fillings: also seen fish and vegetarian menu. Wide choice and fast hardworking owners.

A very nice snack bar-lunchroom. An extensive burger selection (tip, the burgers on Italian roll), and the curly fries are also very good. Everything is fresh and simply prepared well. It is nice to sit inside and outside, and there are 2 private parking spaces. Highly recommended.

We were at a campsite near Voorthuizen and were hosted by 9 people (children/grandchildren) for an afternoon who would stay for dinner. So that had to be something easy and at Big Bread Kitchen De Uitdaging you turned out to be able to order via the Internet. And that turned out to be a hit. The products/menu list seems long, but everyone was able to make their own personal choice. So perfect. And therefore also paid digitally. You can specify your pick-up time and when we went to pick up the food, everything was neatly packed and ready at the specified time. We were in the shop for less than a minute, everything was handled so smoothly (and friendly)! With a 10 minute drive back to the campsite, you might think that the quality of the food would suffer, but that was not the case! What ultimately matters is: "Was it tasty?" was confirmed by all diners. So we can wholeheartedly recommend this company and people get a big plus for the option of digital ordering! If it suits us, the two of us will definitely visit again to have something to eat at the location and experience the local atmosphere, because that is what this positive experience has resulted in. Great place for a quick bite. The space is attractive (for a snack bar) and also has a terrace. The food is well prepared and, when you eat on site, it is served nicely, with real crockery 😀. When I'm in the area again I will definitely come again.

We had a nice dinner! Just careless and didn't think about the fact that there is a beef salad on the vegetarian menu with the Vega burger...

As a bus driver I often eat outside. I had never been to Voorthuizen before, but I still wanted to have a bite to eat while I had to wait for the group. After reading a number of reviews about nearby catering establishments, the reviews of Big Bread Kitchen seemed the most attractive to me. Choice: A wide choice of various burgers and dishes made it difficult to make a choice, because everything looked equally delicious on the menu (compliments for the beautiful menu). Service: Unfortunately, I was not asked if everything was to my liking, even though I would have liked to order a second coke. In addition, the greeting was a bit mediocre, but the lady was a bit friendlier at checkout. General results: Still, I can say that I had a good meal. The fries were fresh and crispy and certainly not too greasy. The Shawarma was nice and tender with some peppers and fried mushrooms and onions mixed in. The pita bread was also nice and fresh and crunchy. I'm a big eater, but I ate more than enough. The rear terrace was a pleasant place to sit and nicely laid out. An effort has certainly been made for that. It's just a pity that there is no view of nice surroundings from the terrace. Price quality: I must say that €14.50 for the shawarma dish with lettuce, fries and pita bread was not expensive. I thought one coke for almost €3 was a bit pricey. €1.50 or a maximum of €2 for a small bottle or can of Coca-Cola seems expensive enough to me. Drinking is then relatively expensive in relation to food. All in all, a nice snack bar/cafe that looks neat inside and out! 👍🏻 Yes, I definitely recommend people to eat here.

Good, but very expensive for a snack bar, we spent € 92.00 for 4 people and then they call a salad with brie, which was tasty, a meal salad, but a meal salad consists of pasta lettuce and then whatever else you want in it and this was only lettuce and brie, shame missed opportunity!

wanted to order food and have it delivered to your home, but that doesn't work then just ordered and picked it up but the spring roll was dripping with fat, the fries were cold and my daughter had a hamburger, but it was undercooked I've had better with you

Eating at De Uitdaging is always delicious. Burgers are well cooked and of high quality. Schnitzel is also tender. A sauce could be served with this. Service is friendly and you don't have to wait long.

Snacks waren prima. Patat was slap en smaakte melig! Voortaan wat langer in het vet.

Heerlijk gegeten en ze bezorgen ook snel! Eten erg goed warm. Friet is heerlijk en snacks ook! Wij bestellen snel weer. Milkshake aardbei heeft alleen beetje gekke smaak, dat mag beter.

Aardig personeel, heerlijke Kapsalon gegeten, kon het niet op zoveel. Veel keus, je weet gewoon niet wat je moet nemen. Gelukkig waren wij wat vroeg want later was het erg druk, ik denk dat er toen iets te weinig personeel was.
