Bistro Daandels in Wijk 00 Hattem

I've been there several times, and always give it a meager 6 out of 10. The food is fine, but nothing special. The service is friendly but sometimes forgetful, and they don't come to your table often. The menu isn't very interesting, but the prices are not cheap. The location is very nice, though.

Young staff who try their best. Chicken casserole with rice was dry and tasteless. Price: €23.90 Duck breast roasted until pink with a lukewarm rösti slice. Price: €29.90 Grolsch Weizen beer from a bottle: €6.50 The tabletop, with its chipped paint stains, doesn't look very hygienic. The Tartelette dessert was a fun, unsuccessful attempt at an upside-down apple pie. Price and quality are not in proportion. Too expensive for what's offered.

The food was utterly tasteless. The salad had no dressing. When I asked for some olive oil to dress the salad myself, it turned out there wasn't any anywhere in the restaurant. The server had no idea what "dressing" meant for salad. He had to be told. The dressing they conjured up came from the cheapest bottle in the cheapest supermarket. Yet, each lunch dish cost at least €22.00. Not recommended. Go across the street; it's better there.

To start on a positive note: the young staff was friendly. The dirty menu and the overflowing paper towel bin in the ladies' room were already a warning sign. We had a social deal for €19.95 per person. The €6 extra for a few small prawns on salad wasn't particularly special, but it was okay. The salmon salad was good. Then, for an extra €6 per person, we both ordered the duck as a main course. It arrived lukewarm, the potato rosti was half cold, and the vegetables weren't al dente but almost raw and not warm. We confronted the waitress, who took both plates and promised to make new ones. After waiting 20 minutes, the exact same plates came back, only now everything was even colder. We complained again. Perhaps the chef, who turned out to be from Moldova, hadn't noticed the problem. The fun was over for us, and we didn't want to accept the offer a third time. They offered to waive the extra charge and offer a cup of coffee as compensation. We simply paid the €25.50 for the four glasses of wine we'd already consumed, as we didn't want to argue further. We left without a main course or dessert. They won't be seeing us again.

A bottle of Westmalle costs €8.50, ridiculous! In hindsight, I should have asked for the price list; it's just not right!

Nice city café in the heart of Hattem

The food is okay, the service could use some improvement. The atmosphere could also use some improvement. Then it will definitely be better.

We ate through Social Deal. There was a hefty surcharge for certain dishes. (8 euros extra for a steak and 6 euros extra for 6 shrimp?) The duck breast salad was stone cold, so it wasn't enjoyable. The steak was a bit raw (I ordered medium). But otherwise? Really good, with tasty side dishes. Good service, and despite it being a large restaurant, it still has a nice atmosphere.

Taking the first order went smoothly. The girl who brought the drinks wasn't allowed to take orders, so I had to wait for a colleague. The food we received tasted unusual, not bad, but (as a former chef) I would have made different choices. We waited and asked for attention to order desserts, but they walked in such a way that they couldn't see the guests. Finally, someone came close enough to speak to. I quickly called out, "Can I order something?" "Sure, I'll be right with you." Meanwhile, tables were being cleared, tables were being paid, orders were being placed, but still no one was at our table. Now I read that I had been trying to get attention for 30 minutes, then approached someone to order, and now I've been waiting another 30 minutes. I finally went inside to ask if I should order here, and they gave me an angry look. Finally, I got the desserts, which were truly awful. The adjacent terrace, just as large, was being cleared by one girl. I'll sit there next time. But never again.

Okay, after a while, the girl in question was willing to help us. And after we finished our drinks, the service got even worse when we were paying. They asked us if we wanted to go to the cash register. Once there, they asked us what our table number was, where we'd been sitting. Oh... if we could just go back out onto the terrace and look up our table number. Now I'm really asking you. Disgraceful, and that for almost 4 euros for a cup of coffee and a cup of tea. Service, ma'am? Well, not for a moment. Disrespectful behavior from the staff, treating people our age (75 and 74) like this. My advice to the girl and the boy: find something else to do soon, but this way of service will never work out with you.

Nice place in the center of Hattem. We went there with Social deal so it's good price. Food were fine. Service were good. We sat outside so it's lovely evening.

Let me say it in short ... ask almost 24 euros for a saucer with rice and some chicken fillet ... outrageous. And 27 euros for a pan - with the emphasis on tje mussels, unprecedentedly expensive. Sand in the mussels was free, then again. After complaining, we got the fries (small basket) from the bill, but yes ... I had to order it extra with my rice/chicken saucer. So still paid 24 euros. Operation was very good, it was not because of that. Eating.

We thought we would try this restaurant, but it is worthless cold food and staff anything but friendly, we had a pan of chicken thigh fillet 1 with fries and 1 with fried potatoes. Both got fries and the chicken was also both cold, back to the kitchen came back with 1 fries and boiled potatoes, plate back. And then with the same potatoes a bit brown and a lot of fat. Really bad and will not come here again. Then pay and she went to take the chicken off once, that is nice but then I asked for the receipt ... also 3.50 too much pinned. So definitely not to be repeated

If you take a social deal you definitely get value for your money. We liked the food although we saw some similarities with neighbor Banka.😉 Staff is really good. It was a warm summer evening and they were running their legs off. Were also friendly. Toilets also neat and clean.

Had a great meal yesterday, we will definitely come back. As a starter I had mushrooms in mozzarella sauce, it was excellent, nicely seasoned, as a main course a delicious tender ribeye with grilled vegetables, also delicious, dessert a sorbet with ice cream and fruits also very good. In short an atmospheric restaurant, friendly service, good food, good wine, we had a nice evening with the two of us.

What a wonderful experience at Brasserie de Markt in Hattem! We enjoyed a tasteful three-course meal, starting with a refined duck breast salad, followed by one of the best ribeyes I have eaten in a long time – perfectly prepared and full of flavour. To finish, a beautiful dessert with a touch of advocaat: a real treat. The atmosphere in the restaurant is warm and intimate, beautifully situated on the picturesque market square in the historic heart of Hattem. It was pleasantly busy, which only added to the lively and hospitable atmosphere. Brasserie de Markt is highly recommended in our opinion, and we will definitely come back here!

Had a nice evening and a great meal! But don't go here thinking you're going to taste culinary delights, go there for a nice evening and carefree food. It really just wasn't okay, I'm willing to pay a bit if the food is good, but you don't give this to people, I had a steak, and I've never eaten such a bad steak, it didn't even taste like steak!!! The boy who served us was very friendly, but BEWARE, you shouldn't go there for a good piece of meat, I won't be back there again.

Unfortunately I did not look at the reviews in advance. We also thought it was definitely too expensive for what we got. Our salad meal tasted fine but was more of a lunch snack than a meal. Served in a difficult to eat small bowl, it did take a while. €22 euros is really too much!

This is not a catering industry. This is a place with very inexperienced employees, bad food and zero attention for the guest. Dirty glasses, dirty table, cutlery you have to constantly ask for, they don't have many drinks on the menu anymore, cold fries. We will definitely never come here again. What a mockery. Super nice place for a restaurant. I read in many reviews that it is an expensive tent. But from our experience it wasn't too bad. We were there around noon and had 2 ham and cheese sandwiches (delicious), 1 cheese sandwich (delicious) and a chicken sandwich (delicious, but it had mushrooms on it without it being on the menu). For the rest super fun!

I thought the price was too high for what you get! I've never had a quiche without a dough layer, but here I did and it was too small, not worthy of a main course at all...really not tasty, I found this disappointing! I also find it misleading if you should get potato and vegetable garnish but it is not served with it!

Duration. It could fall into the “tourist trap” category, the quiche was smaller than 15cm diameter and 24 euros!! You pay 8.50 for a specialty beer if you choose the wrong one. Staff was really good and friendly.

Paying (so much) extra for oat milk is outdated. Beef sausage with Amsterdam pickles is just mustard and wilted lettuce. If you indicate that, there is no response. Service is friendly but inexperienced and lacks direction. Location is great with a nice terrace

Discovered this restaurant through Social Deal. Delicious food for a very attractive price, good atmosphere and not having to wait long. The price of soft drinks is indeed a bit on the high side, but that's not the case these days.

Food was nice and good location too with the terrace. However when they charge €4,20 for a lousy 200ml of Ice Tea I feel ripped off. You used to get a can of 330ml for about €1,- so inflation last 25 years is about 600%. That is pure theft. We didn’t leave as we were on a walk.

Getting a drink took 20 minutes, then it took another 25 minutes before we got our sandwich. When I asked where it was I got the response 'I can't tell you'... But I would be asked in the kitchen. Then the boy went to serve other guests and didn't let us know. We were about to leave when our sandwiches arrived, quickly made, what you get for the amounts is really minimal. Tostie had barely been under the grill, etc.. when I wanted to pay, no one came, I walked in and I was told that I had to pay at the table by the same young man. So you just have the device in your pocket, I already indicated that we had to leave and you send me back to the table?? And it gets even crazier, because then he doesn't come at all but starts taking all kinds of orders from other guests. Finally, after 5 minutes of waving, I can finally pay at the table with the same guy... what a mockery. Don't be seduced by the beautiful place, it is better to sit next to 'De Jongens' or look at the square for a while and look for a better and much cheaper place elsewhere. Afterwards I see that there is a deal on social deal, for much less than we paid. That is indeed the price level that it should be as standard. Unfortunately we find out too late. So if you can get a deal, have all the time in the world, then great.

The place is great, nice terrace in the sun. Nice service. But you don't have to go here for the food. We just had a mustard soup for €11, which was really not tasty. Watery, tasteless, a dry piece of bread without butter or something like that. So not recommended.

Beautiful building. We were upstairs. Lots of people in a small space. My, my, what a noise. You would suffer hearing damage. The food was okay. No further explanation about Social Deal. We just had to look at the phone. Afterwards I tried to pee in a urinal that was much too high. Conclusion, see if you can find something else.

Had a 3 course menu here yesterday via Social Deal. As a main course I had a ribbon pasta with cream, arugula, mushrooms, broccoli and burrata. It was far too much pasta in proportion, the arugula was not included, the broccoli consisted of exactly 3 florets and the mushrooms were also hard to find. And they normally charge 23.90 for this. Scandalous. We also had to wait an hour for our dessert. Starter and dessert were tasty.

We were two people, food came at long intervals. First I got food but without cutlery, when I got cutlery the food was cold. The prawns were reheated, but together with the lettuce and cucumber. The intervals were so long that the potatoes were brought after the other waitress had already cleared the plates. Unfortunately I can't make it any better, but this is really not recommended.

If you think you can eat well here, you are wrong. Skip the salad because you just get old, dirty lettuce. If you say something about this, you will get some kind of answer and another option. Had coffee and cake here during the very busy flea market on Saturday. It was wonderful to sit on the heated terrace after a heavy rain shower. Even in the sun. Staff was very friendly, despite the huge crowds.

Bagger tent. We almost never thought we would sit on a terrace, but we will never come back here. Service is slow and not customer friendly at all. When you ask them a question you get a look or a snarl from them. Had to wait 30 minutes until someone finally came to take our order and then had to pay for the most expensive coffee + pastry ever, 19.80 for 2 cups of coffee + 2 pastries. After 15 minutes our expensive stuff finally arrived on the table. Then you expect the tastiest thing you have ever had, your cake is completely frozen, but if you say something about it, they have no answer and they just walk away without solving it normally. I would say close that place and first learn the basics of how to run a place. They're all walking around with no idea what to do. It's all very clumsy. Not recommended for others, stay away from here.

The cook and bar staff do not speak Dutch, but the service does. We waited a long time for the menu and finally we took it ourselves. The service after ordering was quick, I thought the prices were too high for the food you received. Ice Tea Green €4.25 / salmon sandwich €15.90 / cup of mustard soup (without bread or salmon) €10.90.

Affordable pricing and payable with mastercard. Just to hear the clock bell play its tune is a experience worth the trip here. We were lucky to have nice weather during our visit in the town so the walk through the garden and streets to the city square was a pleasant one.

Ingredients do not match what is stated on the menu. Indicated that the tenderloin strips had to be well done due to pregnancy. That wasn't a problem, they always were because they were stir-fried. Recommended in terms of atmosphere...it was busy, therefore service was slower, but very friendly. Unfortunately, the steak was tough and the potatoes were undercooked (cold inside), the salmon salad was fine, the chicken dish was excellent! Dessert delicious!
