On Christmas Day, we were looking forward to a Christmas dinner at your place. Expectations were high, as we had dined with you once before on Christmas Day. But unfortunately, this time it was different. For the price we had to pay, the buffet was absolutely scandalous. In our opinion, a buffet offers more choice, including hot dishes. Unfortunately, this wasn't the best experience... it's in a beautiful location, but once inside, we were completely ignored. Other visitors had been helped first, so we found another restaurant.

Coziness the way it should be. First snow, followed by hot chocolate and ginger tea in the warm, inviting Molencaten Inn!

I went again and this time it was a pleasant experience. I received a call from the owner regarding my previous review (see below). A rather businesslike explanation, but it's a reality restaurants have to deal with (highly fluctuating prices). Not really something you want to burden customers with. Nevertheless, I chose a menu in advance after a pleasant consultation with the Hattem team. They made a beautiful printout for us, and we had an enjoyable and delicious meal with a group of 16 people! --------------------------------------------------- Beautiful place, excellent food, but I won't be going back. I've mentioned the menu a few times. It can only be scanned with a phone. I'd like to come with elderly people. They can't read it. And someone with a brain injury (no cell phone and/or gets angry because there's no printed menu). You can't get a regular menu. Terrible service. Sorry.

We had a truly delicious meal in a beautiful, peaceful setting, a gem of a restaurant nestled in a stunning forest. Excellent service too! Highly recommended.

We drove an hour and a half for lunch at this location and a walk in the woods. Upon arrival, we were told in a very unfriendly manner that we had better leave because it was "too busy." When we asked if we could at least get a cup of coffee, the answer was a snarky "no" from behind the bar. Very unwelcoming. Never experienced anything like it before. After a quick walk in the area, we got back in the car, hungry.

I often visit Herberg Molecaten a couple of times each month, and it never disappoints. The food is always delicious, the service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is simply wonderful. Located right by the forest, it’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal after a nice walk. A true hidden gem where you always feel welcome!

Cozy restaurant, lovely terrace with friendly service. But cola straight from a 2-liter bottle into a glass and plain factory-made apple pie are just not acceptable!

On the recommendation of an acquaintance, I went for lunch. And then had lunch again three days later with my daughter-in-law. We also enjoyed a lovely walk.

A beautiful restaurant in a unique location surrounded by nature on the outskirts of Hattem. It's also the starting point for the "The Story of the Netherlands" walk, which we took to beautiful Hattem. Coffee and cake were served before the walk, followed by a delicious beer. What a fantastic day!

Had a drink and a meal here, the terrace was very nice. The service was also very good.

Wij hebben een high tea gehad. Het was erg warm. Buiten zitten was geen optie omdat het te warm was. Binnen was het overigens net zo warm, wellicht nog warmer. Alles werd in 1 x op tafel gezet, zoet en hartig door elkaar. De broodjes was te groot (broodjes voor een lunch). De slagroom en chocola smolten vanwege de hitte. Het was geen succes! We zijn naar het terras in de stad gereden voor een lekker ijsje.

Molecaten is a popular place for family gatherings or for friends to meet on the outdoor terrace. If you want that, you need to make a reservation. Otherwise, there is usually limited room for spontaneous visits. The coffee tastes good and is served professionally by the staff. It is nice and relaxed in the forest with the babbling water of the watermill.

Nice place to eat out! Beautifully situated in the middle of the forest. The food was also delicious and the service was adequate. The only downside is the digital menu... it is less pleasant to have to grab your phone while you are eating out with a group.

This time they served us very quickly for lunch and our order also arrived in good time, it was very delicious. Highly recommended is the tomato soup and fried eggs with bread. The place is very nice and familiar. We always do a pre-walk before arriving at the location for lunch or just to have a coffee.

I had lunch here on a Friday. They only had the small room open. We arrived without a reservation in advance and sat outside on the terrace for 5 minutes and then a spot became available inside. Delicious deluxe bouncer. Staff is very friendly. After lunch we walked the Assenradepad clog path. This starts here and is 11 km. My tip would be: if you want to take a seat here, book in advance!

After a walk in Hattem, we drove on to have lunch here. Beautiful location and cozy terrace. The service was friendly and came and went. Man man had the deluxe bouncer and I had the Waldcorn Piri Piri. My husband's bouncer had no Parmesan cheese in it. Too bad, we didn't say anything about that. But unfortunately the chicken was still raw. That is not just a mistake but a big miss. The plate was taken away again and after waiting a while, my husband had already finished his sandwich, my order was brought. This time it was cooked well. An apology was made and refreshments offered for the inconvenience. We have agreed to this.

You can sit outside, half outside (with a kind of tent construction, cozy!), or inside. Staff are very friendly and helpful. You can also order at the table using a QR. We ordered "1 meter of food". Highly recommended. It's a kind of drinks board, but different. Prices: what you can expect. Not too expensive. Outside there is a playground next to one of the terraces In short: a wonderful place to go, especially in combination with walking in the beautiful woods.

Had lunch today with family (13 people). The absence of a paper menu is experienced as annoying by several people. When serving, the food for 2 children was not included; It is not known why, but it was not fun. Asked for extra fries; never got it. 2 waitresses who came to take everyone's drinks; We never saw the drinks from 1 table. 2 tips: - Invest in a good restaurant manager to manage the service. - Read the reviews here and ask yourself as an owner; Why do I still stick to the digital menu with QR code while many people prefer a paper version?

Had a High Wine today. What a disappointment. Previous experiences were always so good but now it was 'easily dismissed'. A board with cheese, sausage and olives. Then a fried drink mix………. Not worth repeating. We expressed our dissatisfaction and the response was... yes, the wine has become so expensive... Won't come back again.

Fantastic food. Very good portions. It was extremely busy as there was a chocolate festival happening in the village. The staff accommodated the extra people by setting up new tables. They stayed calm and professional under immense pressure. I'll be visiting again under normal circumstances.

Despite the menu using a QR code, they quietly came to take the order at the table. Delicious food and well-kept bouncer.

We had invited a friendly couple to eat at Molecaten. When we asked for the menu, we were told that it had been abolished and we were therefore forced to read the menu (attached to a QR picture on the table) with our mobile phone. scan. Because I didn't have a cell phone with me at the time, I asked if they had a menu for me in this case: this was refused. For example, I had to scroll through the menu on their tiny screens with the others in our party. My guests opted for steak tips that tasted satisfactory, and for myself I ordered a schnitzel with bacon strips. This was so well done and dry, and the bacon strips so salty, that it gave me hiccups and I had to drink a lot to get rid of the hiccups; the miniscule amount of puree was smeared over the edge of my cold plate and reminded me of a line under a signature (of the chef)? Compared to other occasions, the fries had to be ordered separately and were placed on the table in a large Febo cone, with a cone with cheap fries sauce on top. After the meal, to surprise us, a small drum from grandmother's time was placed on our table with the message that it contained some treats. When we opened it, it turned out to be almost empty except for a few sweets. One of us, now quite frustrated with the whole turn of events, went to the back to have the drum refilled. The visit to Molecaten was difficult for me to digest, as was the lump of schnitzel in my stomach.

We had dinner and the party here on our wedding anniversary. What a great location this is! Half of the inn is reserved for you - the covered terrace and the room next to it, which you can see from the covered terrace. There is also a bridal room for the bridal couple to retreat for a while. This was really nice that the option was there. There is also a toilet for the bride. First we had a delicious meal on the covered terrace, then the party started, where the older party guests could retire to the terrace (but were still very involved in the party room) and the rest could party in the hall. The staff is super friendly and wants to do everything for you to make your day unforgettable. Between the party and dinner, my dress contained a lot of twigs and dirt from the forest, which is of course to be expected. Now the staff didn't hesitate for a second and there were three of them cleaning my dress, while one person was busy with the dustpan and dustpan. End result - my dress was completely clean again. Are you getting married and still unsure about a location? Then visit this location and experience the atmosphere that the inn radiates.

In the middle of the woods and a nice place for lunch. Good selection of light bites and larger meals. Watch out for the car park as there are no designated spaces so you’ll need to park between the trees.

Beautiful place to be with a playground for small children. The drinks platter was fine, but the prices.... Actually just a bit too high for the overall picture.

It's a bit gloomy and dark inside. Lots of chairs and tables on the terrace. This makes it look very full and you have the feeling that the table next to you can listen to everything you say.

Had a lovely lunch here with the family. Served quickly. Food was very good. Chairs outside on the terrace were a bit smaller. Enough parking space. Immediately visit the watermill. Beautiful old-fashioned piece of technology.

Was in het verleden stukken beter. Niet echt van deze tijd en bij de vraag wat de vegetarische opties waren was de mededeling dat die er niet waren maar dat de vleeskroketten vervangen konden worden door de vega bitterballen. Die ‘kon je namelijk ook op brood prakken ‘😂 Daarnaast alleen een digitale kaart via de telefoon. Voor mijn oma van meer dan 90 jaar niet echt een optie.

After our walk we had a cappuccino with something tasty. The coffee was good and so were the pastries. Friendly service. Because of the dog we had to go outside on the terrace, but there was a heated tent there and it was cozy. It was completely fine.

The extensive range of meals (Veluwse coffee table XL), the reasonable prices and, above all, the friendly welcome were the deciding factor for us. And we have not regretted it for a moment, because last Saturday we had a wonderful party at this beautiful location. Everything was above expectations; the setup was beautiful and spacious, both inside and outside (fortunately we had beautiful weather), the food was delicious and more than enough for everyone. Some people with allergies also received special attention! We received feedback from many guests that it was a fantastic location and that they also really liked the food. All in all, we can highly recommend Herberg Molecaten, including its very friendly hostess, to everyone! Excellent 5*

Nice, if you arrive in the evening. There is also a beautiful atmosphere when you enter. You have a spacious seat at your table and the service is also very friendly and hospitable. Prachtige locatie - bos, adellijke woning in de buurt, mooi om te wandelen. Je zou denken... dan is de herberg van dergelijke stand. Helaas, ik betaalde dik 3 euro voor ongeveer 100cc cappuccino uit een smal hoog koffiekopje, dat uit een volautomaat werd getrokken. De stoelen zijn niet fijn, je zakt laag achterover. Het broodje was wel lekker, maar ik betwijfel zeer of het brood volkoren was (zoals beloofd), volgens mij was het bruin (dus eigenlijk wit) met wat donkere granen. De bediening was wel vlot. De wc ruimte was vies (laag stof op de randjes, spinnenwebje in de geurstokjes - langer dan een paar dagen niet geraakt) en dus was ik ook niet zeker over de hygiëne van de toilet zelf.
