I didn't personally experience the dinner cruise, but worked with Blue Pepper to arrange a 25-person dinner for our company. My colleagues shared that the service was excellent and everybody had a great time. The owner worked with me every step of the way and even though I was thousands of miles away, the dinner went without any hiccups. He was also very accommodating to my last-minute requests. Anyone looking to book a large party in Amsterdam should check out Blue Pepper!

We were a group of 13 in Amsterdam and wanted to enjoy authentic Indonesian food. Blue Pepper delighted everyone; the food was first-class – especially for us, as we hadn't tried Indonesian cuisine before. The service was very attentive, and the ambiance was lovely – the wooden masks on the walls are truly impressive. I highly recommend this restaurant. One last tip – the electrifying dessert is a must-try!

We, a Canadian party of 3 ate here 3 days ago. The food is easily some of the best we have ever had travelling. And we travel a lot. 2 of us have a spice tolerance less than most and the staff assured us that they could meet our needs. They did not disappoint. We shared every everything we ordered. Salad, shrimp, satay, ground lamb. Then mains included the chicken from Loire, slow cooked beef, more shrimp and baby potatoes. Everything was amazing! If you are considering this restaurant we HIGHLY recommended it. Yummmm

Wonderful food here, legit 10/10 rijsttafel. If I had to nitpick I would say the drink fridge should be colder, but it can be forgiven since the food itself was fantastic and the staff were very welcoming and attentive. Would not hesitate to return.

Dinner at Blue Pepper was incredible—the food and service were flawless. The absolute highlight was their new Lichi Lips dessert. It came with an electric sensational flower that you eat first; it creates a wild, tingling lightning-bolt sensation in your mouth that perfectly sets up the flavors of the dessert. A must-try culinary surprise in Amsterdam!

I am so disappointed — this is not the place that has been reviewed for the past few years as i believe the chef changed - the food was passable / not bad but not even close to the outrageous prices and small portions and certainly not an extra special stop for “best Indonesian food”

We were looking for traditional Indonesian cuisine on our recent trip to Amsterdam and found Blue Pepper. We didn’t have a reservation but they greeted us with warm, friendly smiles and luckily had one table for 2 available. The staff were very knowledgeable and attentive, the presentation was beautiful and the flavors were divine! The atmosphere was warm and cozy, a welcome reprieve from the cold bluster going on outside! Despite being quite full, they talked us into the lychee ice cream and I’m so glad they did, what a treat! The Szechuan berries were a fun surprise! The whole meal was a perfect experience, we will definitely be back on our next trip to Amsterdam! Don’t miss it!

I came to this restaurant with a group of 23. We had a 3 course meal - the food was incredible! Every dish was a new taste and delicious. The staff were more than friendly. And the restaurant is intimate, clean, and easy to hold a conversation. I will go back!

We wanted to try a rijsttafel when visiting Amsterdam recently and we were certainly not disappointed with Blue Pepper restaurant! We were greeted warmly by the owner who discussed the menu options with us and asked what level of spice we would like. Our waiter was equally as friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious and perfectly spiced to our taste. We opted to add on the suggested wine pairing which complemented the dishes very well. We cannot speak highly enough about the whole dining experience and would highly recommend this restaurant!

I have been going to Blue Pepper for the last 15 years. First when I lived in The Netherlands and then every time I visited. The quality of the food is outstanding. If you are looking for a modern version of indonesia cuisine, including a very creative rice tafle, then I recommed you book a table and enjoy the experience. It's very much worth it.

I have absolutely no complaints about this first experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The four-course menu was excellent. We walked in as a family of four without a reservation. Although bookings are recommended, the host graciously accommodated us. Nice restaurant but cooking not aligned with price range.

Food was tasty with a few creative highlights but not abundant as a ‘rijstafel’ would normally be - French-style small plates. They are going for a posh, fine-dining approach I guess, which would have been fine if the overall experience had been delivered. Unfortunately the staff, while very nice, kept forgetting our drinks even though one of us took the pairing menu, and the wait between dishes was too long. Overall we were satisfied with the food and didn’t leave hungry but we won’t recommend it to friends.

It was a very special experience, even for us Amsterdammers who have all been on the canals many many times. It was one of the best activities I've ever done in Amsterdam, and my whole group raved about the experience afterwards.

I have been here before. I Always make it a priority when I’m in Amsterdam. It never disappoints. Small bistro serving Se Asian food, principally Indonesian, some Balinese and Sumatran influences. Staff and owner are gracious and friendly. They always make me feel like I’m a valued guest. The food can be spicy (which I like) but I’ve heard other tables ask for milder versions and they were happy to accommodate. They have 3 different rijstafels , all fish, vegetarian and a mixed meat. They do good wine pairings at a very reasonable addition. They serve individual dishes as well, many very beguiling and mouthwatering.

Best Indonesian food I’ve ever had, served by extremely nice staff, in an elegant and comfortable atmosphere. Everything was cooked perfectly, the spices well balanced to make delicious dishes, both vegan/vegetarian and with meat. The wines were also very good, and don’t miss out on the dessert! Excellent smaller restaurant with outstanding service. Marvelous food, great wine and my guests with specials wishes were served to their wishes; spicy, gluten, vegetarian, shell fish. We booked for 12 person and made a small prepayment to secure the table.

This place is incredible. The food was phenomenal, I had the vegetarian rijsttafel. I really appreciated that they squeezed me in last minute on a Saturday night and will do a rijsttafel for a solo diner. The service was great. If I ever make it back to Amsterdam, I'll come back here.

Chef Avijit and the staff at Blue Pepper provided an excellent dining experience for my husband’s 60th birthday celebration in Amsterdam. Initially, since we were traveling with a group from New York on our first trip to Amsterdam, we did not know exactly how to organize the birthday dinner on board Blue Pepper’s dinner cruise. However, from the start of our email communications, I found Chef Avijit to be immensely helpful and responsive to my questions and concerns. He offered several menu options and provided additional details and suggestions that gave me great comfort in selecting Blue Pepper for our very special occasion. He even arranged for a celebratory birthday cake. When we arrived at the boat, we were greeted by the chef and his delightful staff who provided us with glasses of champagne and added reassurance that we would be well taken care of. It is truly an understatement to say that the dining experience was beyond excellent! Each course of the meal was superb and we enjoyed eating some cuisine that we had never previously tried. Every course was perfectly seasoned and absolutely delicious! Each member of our group could not stop talking about the food and the service, which were impeccable. Because of our extremely positive dining experience, I would highly recommend the Blue Pepper.

We organized our company dinner here at restaurant Blue pepper. The dinner cruise was absolutely amazing. Avijit was always polite and made sure to take into account all our wishes. I arrange architectural and cultural tours for members of a well-known non-profit organization, and our dinner and cruise with Blue Pepper was outstanding from start to finish. It was the perfect introduction to Amsterdam that we had desired for our first evening. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and surprising; the wine selection was well-balanced and suited to each course, and for dessert we had the most beautiful almond and white chocolate cake I have ever tasted. But the warm and sincere service left the biggest impression on us. We felt welcomed and cherished the entire time. Our guests had a wonderful time. Thank you so much! We will be back every time we revisit your wonderful city! TIP: Make sure you make a reservation well in advance to secure the best boat. We had a beautiful large wooden boat that turned heads along the way.

We went here on a friend’s recommendation, and it was absolutely smashing! Definitely the best meal we had in Amsterdam, and that’s actually very high praise! Meant to be Indonesian cuisine, it’s more like an eclectic mix of Asian cuisines that is perfectly executed and presented. We chose the pre-set menu which was perfect for 2 people. The duck, minced lamb, and the sorbet dessert were simply outstanding! Service was friendly and top notch. These folks genuinely love what they do, and it comes across in their attitude, food presentation, and taste. Loved it - and would highly highly recommend this restaurant! PS - if the restaurant staff is reading this, can you pls tell us the name of the fruit you use in top of your sorbet? That was truly a unique item to try! Thank you

Truly, an upscale version of a Rijsttafel with many special treats. Not the usual tourist fare. Beautiful art inside. I was able to have the Riijstaffel while my wife ate off the à la carte menu. Wine pairing was excellent. And overall, the price was quite modest for this level of dining. Very cordial hosts. Would definitely return.
