Great coffee! Cute Italian store

I used to enjoy going there for a coffee, but now it has changed so much that I don't think I would return. The price quality ratio has changed a lot. We had double-espresso and cannoli, and I was surprised to learn at checkout that double-espresso (pretty average in quality) costed us €5.8 each (€3.4 espresso + €2.4 for extra shot). My previous review here was 4 star.

He’s a very rude person. DON’T GO HERE!! Most likely he’s going to post under my review that I’m a loser, like he did with everyone else that criticised him. Shows what a man he is! First; you have to buy an extra drink if you’re with 2 persons. My boyfriend had to use the toilet, so I thought I would get a nice coffee. But no, you have to pay something for the other person as well. Weird money makers, gives me the ick.. Second; I wanted the tea for take away. Except I was not allowed to get a take away and a coffee in a normal mug. Cause I wanted to drink the tea later outside. I had to drink INSIDE the place in a paper mug??? What’s the deal with this??? He’s a showoff, and needs mental help. Oh and you’re place is grim, gives me the shivers. Get some plants bruv.

I’m writing to express my deep disappointment after our experience at your restaurant today. My girlfriend and I have been loyal customers—this year alone, we’ve visited at least ten times, always enjoying the food and atmosphere, and have left high ratings on Google Maps because we genuinely loved this place. Today, however, we received some of the rudest treatment we’ve ever encountered at any restaurant. After waiting at our table for over 20 minutes with no service, I went to the bar myself to try and order directly, only to be told to return to my seat as someone would be over soon. Yet, after another 15 minutes of waiting with no communication, my girlfriend went to the bar to ask again, only for the owner to inform her that the kitchen was closed and they wouldn’t be taking any more orders. We had been left sitting at our table waiting, unaware, with no explanation or courtesy to inform us. When my girlfriend tried to explain our frustration, the owner’s only response was essentially to “leave a 1-star review and deal with it.” This dismissive attitude was beyond unacceptable and honestly feels like a betrayal, given how much we have enjoyed this place in the past. This experience was extremely frustrating and, frankly, insulting. We were left feeling disrespected and unwelcome, which has made us seriously reconsider ever returning to a place we once loved. I emailed this to the webpage since I wanted to share these comments, they replied to me in a very rude way calling le a loser. See Screenshots

The café where we wanted to have breakfast was too crowded, so we ended up at this place instead. I noticed a photo on the entrance door showing a plate of pancakes stacked six high, which they were advertising. We went in, assuming we’d get what was advertised. I approached the owner behind the bar and asked if they served tea. Instead of simply saying "yes," he told me to look at the menu. I also asked if the pancakes really looked like the ones on the door, and he replied, "They look even better." All right, I thought, and we sat down. I ordered the sweet and salty pancakes for 15 €, while my friends ordered the classic. Our food arrived shortly, but to our surprise, we only received three pancakes instead of the six shown in the advertisement. I told the owner that I didn’t understand why he said they would look "even better" when we only got half of what was pictured. He pointed out that the menu listed only three pancakes, which was true. But he had told me otherwise! We left hungry and disappointed. In response to a critical review, the owner called a dissatisfied customer a liar. From my experience, I’d say that term applies more accurately to him. As expected the big guy with the small Italian ego has been triggered: I paid more than 20 € (I even gave a tip) for a pancake and a tea. So your response with 10 € is a joke.

The place looks super cute and cozy. We grabbed some arancini and a few pastries to go. The arancini were amazing and everything else in the display looked fantastic (I would’ve loved to try more). The only reason for the lower rating is the owner (I assume, based on the logo), who seemed a bit intense and irritated. He snapped at his coworker and seemed annoyed with her, and he looked frustrated with me when I couldn’t remember which arancini I ordered (he was in a hurry). My friends felt the same way, saying it seemed like he was on the verge of snapping at them too. I get that it’s stressful with so many customers and all, but it still left a bit of a sour impression.

I truly loved this place, me and my boyfriend went there for a lunch quite often over summer. But the last experience we had there crossed away all good memories. The place was busy and understaffed (which can happen - we are all humans, and it’s not why I’m now adjusting my review). We were waiting for half an hour to order, and when no one came, we asked to order at the counter. They told us to go back and wait for the waiter to order. 20 minutes later I went again to check, only to learn that the kitchen was now closed because they are understaffed. We lost an hour on our Sunday waiting for nothing and when I asked why it wasn’t possible to tell us that from the start - the owner was incredibly rude, telling me to give them 1 star if I don’t like something. Well, you get what you ask for 🤷🏼‍♀️ we all might have bad days sometimes, but it gives you no reason to treat (formerly loyal) customers that way. It’s really a shame, the food there was amazing as you can see in my old review.

I have never felt at home like in this place. The flavours of the food are of the highest quality I have ever tasted in Amsterdam. The bread is home made and all the ingredients are fresh. The croissants are like the ones I used to find in Rome long time ago. The interior reminds me of Rome and the owner has a very funny personality. I always have a good laugh with him and enjoy my time there every time. Thank you for this gem in de pijp.

Little Italy in Amsterdam! My first choice for coffee for over 12 years. My favorite choice: Capri blend. Also try the dolces and sandwiches for lunch.

My review is not about quality of food and drinks … it’s about an unprofessional manager/owner … when people go to cafe and restaurant they expect professional service … being honest the employees were very polite and professional and the manager not … he was very loud making strange behavior first we found it very interesting because we thought its a passion but at the end this is a cafe and there should be a limit … I took a photo of his picture was in the wall and his cups and later I wanted to take a picture of him to post it as a nice idea of him to have his photo on the wall and cups. and he started arguing with us that we are laughing at him ? He asked us why we were laughing ! Sure we go to a cafe to chill and have some talk and laugh … if you have no self confidence or you think you are doing something strange that’s your issue … regardless you could have asked very professionally but still I just went to him to explain and avoid misunderstanding but he as a manager started acting like a kid very childish that I don’t have time and don’t want to talk to you ( very unprofessional) , i explained to his employee ( a very professional waitress) and she got my point simply … later there was a lady just sitting there and didn’t even finish her coffee he ( the manager )went to him and asked her either order something or leave … as if people needs to keep ordering in a cafe to be able to sit ! She was there less that 15-20 min … please read any review that is one or two stars and see his ( the manager ) unprofessional and improper language in his repossess to any low review … to be fair I put 3 star for food because it was tasting good and the reason I didn’t put 5 was because I found it odd that kitchen and toilets are at the same location ( not hygiene ) … and also I would like to appreciate the waitresses that are so professional and polite even working for such an unprofessional manager …

I never write bad reviews but this place is so bad that I feel like I must warn others. I guess the fact this place was empty when other restaurants nearby had long lines at the entrance should have been the first warning sign but we didn't want to wait in line so decided to come in. The owner was very unpleasant and seem to be bothered by the fact that someone walked in. We ordered 3 drinks- 2 Flat Whites and one hot chocolate, all quite mediocre. The price for the coffee was not published on the menu so when we were given the bill, we were surprised to learn that the total price for the drinks is 17 euros. That feels like a total rip off and the worst tourist trap we encountered in Amsterdam. Do your self a favor and avoid this place.

Honestly I do not understand why this guy is running a coffee shop, obvious hospitality is not his strong suit. That’s not just expressed in his demeanour but also in the aggressive language in the shop with instructions written in capitals what is not acceptable in his shop. The coffee (americano) was good.

We ordered caprese panini, carpaccio panini and ham panini, they were all very tasty. The orange juice is freshly made and was wonderful. Taste of Italy! I just suggest improving the stress that the guy is putting on customers when he is in the dining room, they could put a bell in the kitchen so the guy doesn't have to shout when the food is ready. The food is very good. I believe the name of the restaurant has also changed.

The mortadella panini was next level. Loved every bite, we also tried the cotto ham panini after and it was also very good. Pancakes you can see for yourself they are light but fluffy.

The coffee is delicious. We left Amsterdam for breakfast to enter Rome. The coffee smells good, the coffee is good. An Espresso to wake you up. The pancakes, including the Tiramisu, are incredible. A real good time, with pleasant service.

Pure & honest great coffee. No over promises. Truthful, direct, and best of all...GOOD, VERY GOOD. You can taste the mastery at roasting their coffee. Bought also some tea and coffee beans to take home.

Worst place on Amsterdam. Came with my wife and ordered a espresso. We both seated, the bold guy came to us and told us that we could not seat and showed a sign that to seat you must have ordered something. I paid for my coffee. We've both left feeling so disrespected. The place is empty and that is why! He must gain money doing something else. Serving the public is not one of them.

A big selection of different blends, for every coffee lover. On top of the amazing coffee, there is a really nice selection of sweets (mostly homemade), and savory for every taste. Daniele is a super host who makes the experience an authentic italian one.

A very tasty breakfast. The panini tasted salty to me. Most of all, we liked the arancini with fish fillet. We also took a vegan cheesecake, also top! And there was a very nice man who took the order, he really lifted the mood on a rainy day 🥹

Stumbled upon this place before our Heineken tour and got our food to go because we werent sure if we had time to sit. Turns out we had a few minutes to spare so we enjoyed a bite of our panini. When it comes to having coffee it always makes sense to search for Italians. The owner was talkative and gave some great suggestions, but I think the cannoli are the highlight seeing as they fill them with your choice of filling directly before serving (as it should be done). If you want any prove just read how they reply at bad reviews here. *Editing to reply to the rude manager: you can have a coffee shop with the characteristics you prefer, it’s your choice. However, you should also respect your customers and don’t be rude, it’s called good manners. Hope you understand this one day and I wish you best of luck with your coffee shop as it has potential 👍🏽

The service was so rude - the manager quite literally asked us to leave in a very rude way after we sat down and ordered coffee and cake, saying that to sit there we have to order more food cause this is not an “airport cafe”

The staff is Italian and super friendly. They offer a wide variety of delicious coffees. They also have cakes and sweets. The place is very cozy and the prices are affordable. Highly recommended.
