Menu changed and improved. Corn ribs are fun. Thanks to the single front of house person who did the whole busy shift by herself! And very well. Great service.

Delicious food, good BBQ quality. A fitting African beer. Informal atmosphere. Close to Fabrique Lumière, where we went afterward.

Placed an order with Thuisbezorgd who made a mistake . Instead of delivered they placed pick up. Phoned the restaurant. They refused to call thuisbezorgd. Told me to sort it out my self . Thanks for the complete indifference.

Burger was cold and felt like chewing rubber. Burger meat are from the freezer. Wasn't even thawed properly. Spareribs was ok, a bit dry. And for the price above €20 I expected that it comes with a salad and fries. Never coming back there again.

I got a cold burger. That felt like it come out of the deep freeze. Bad bad. Even a deep Freeze would have tasten better. Pretty f up when the rest of your party is eating and just waiting for a burger at temperature. If you drink and dont give f about the food its the perfect place for you

We had a delicious meal here before a concert at the Gashouder. Unfortunately, the Biltong wasn't available. But there were other tasty treats available.

This red velvet cake made me sick vomit how dare you serve something that has gone that bad with smells of fridge and is entirely not fresh especially if it has dairy or cheese you can not possibly do that to people ordering food from you trusting you. The burger was still raw from inside and was cold. My stomach is entirely ill because of this cace i had after the burger

First time trying some South African-inspired cuisine - thanks to recommendations by a lovely friend - and Braai did not disappoint! The staff is very friendly, and can help anyone either in Dutch or English. Food-wise, I opted for the Biltong (small portion) and Boerewors as appetizers. Both came out quickly and were utterly delicious. I was worried I wouldn't like Biltong because jerky isn't my thing - either flavor-wise or texture-wise - but this is a very different - and very tasty!!! - type of food, which was devoured pretty quickly. The same goes for the Boerewors, which was nice, meaty, herby, and paired well with the chutney. Absolute 10/10 for both! My main course was the pulled brisket burger, which is fairly messy to eat if you use your hands. Even so, that is half the fun, so just give it a try. The only downside to the burger is how quickly I ate it and was left wanting more, but I ultimately opted out because I knew my stomach would punish me for it later on. For drinks, I tried both the Ginger Mule and South African mocktails, which both hit the spot. Will definitely visit again when I'm in Amsterdam again!

Braai Westerpark serves delicious food with great flavors. Some of the appetizers felt a bit small for the price, but the quality made up for it. They were very kind and accommodating with our large group reservation, which made the experience even better. Would definitely return!

We stopped by for grabbing some drinks but next time to eat for sure as the menu was attractive. We had draft beers, olives and chips menu with lemonade. We sat outside and liked the atmosphere.

Overpriced and very small meet portions

Pork ribs with bbq sauce very good, my chicken skewer maybe a little too browned so not so juicy. Baked pumpkin ok, fried sweet potatoes I would have preferred less fried. Friendly service, fast.

Didn't leave a good impression. After having a nice experience with friends at Fabrique des Lumières on the Westergas terrain, we wanted to have a nice meal nearby. I had found Braai via Google for this and that seemed like a good choice. Because it was a bit windy, we chose to sit inside. It was very quiet, but it was only 5:40 PM, so that seemed logical to us. The first thing we noticed was that the table was still dirty. After we reported this, part of it was cleaned, but not the entire table. The menus, which look nice by the way, were all sticky and simply not clean. That doesn't have to happen and certainly when it's quiet you can pay attention to that. We chose two starters to share between the four of us. They weren't bad, but not great either. The service was generally good. That should be said in between. We didn't choose any difficult main courses. 3 times the Full Monthy burgers, of which 1 without jalapeño pepper and a Steak. The burger without pepper was not successful at first and when it was there it became clear that the pepper had been removed manually....but not completely. For someone who can't handle that, that is not nice. Another burger was really too raw and was remade. This was done without any problems, so it is not due to the service. The third burger was fine, but not great either. In short; it was not a good experience. A team from a restaurant in that area of ​​Amsterdam should really perform better to make it. People who sat behind us did not have a good experience either. We hope that it was perhaps a snapshot for Braai where it was a bad day. We will not be back there in the near future. Despite that, the employees were nice and willing. That is not the problem. But there is no experienced team who sees what it takes to successfully run a restaurant.

Food is really great, service is great. Music could be a bit softer

Ambiance is sfeervol. Er was voldoende keuze in waar we konden zitten. Persoonlijk zit ik het liefst aan een tafel met stoelen. Er is ook een optie om aan een lange tafel met zitbanken te zitten of aan een hoge tafel aan het raam. Bediening was vriendelijk. Jammer dat er geen gewoon bier meer was (tap was leeg) en een ander niet was direct bijna 2x zoveel. Ik wilde graag de gegrilde zalm, maar die was ook op. De burgers waren prima, al verwacht je bij een burger ook wat frietjes en dat moest apart besteld worden. De gegrilde groente bij de Braai steak betroffen 3/4 stukjes wortel en mini maiskolfjes. Steak was goed, maar ook daarbij zou je wat friet verwachten. De nachos Braai style waren goed gevuld en erg lekker. Fijn dat je hier gewoon nog een karaf kraanwater kunt krijgen.

The food is absolutely amazing! It's way better than I expected. The service is top notch. I recommend anyone thinking of going here! And the prices are pretty good as well, together with great portions. Reservation is mandatory, though. I'd definitely come here again.

Braai was one of our favorite places to order for a long time, but unfortunately not anymore after our last experience. When we contacted about the errors in our order, very little effort was made to resolve it. Sad to see that the service has deteriorated so much.

We had a mix up with our order and the servers handled it perfectly.

Chose to go here while visiting Amsterdam and was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was quirky as always in Amsterdam and the food was great. I had the vegan burger and it was one of the best tasting burger I have eaten as a vegetarian. It had the perfect combination of condiments and sauces. My wife had a chicken burger and was savouring it without speaking which says something!Would highly recommend.

Very disappointing. We have ordered from Braai before and were always satisfied, but this time everything went wrong. Several items were missing: the coleslaw was forgotten and we missed the BBQ sauce that normally comes standard with the chicken nuggets. In addition, we received the wrong drink. The only solution offered was that we had to reorder and would only be reimbursed for the coleslaw afterwards - not the delivery costs or the incorrectly delivered drink. What we were particularly surprised about was the way the staff responded. During the conversation we heard one employee continuously instructing the other and making inappropriate comments in between, such as “Whatever.” This struck us as incredibly unprofessional. It's a shame, unfortunately we won't order from here again.

I had it delivered and even my cat loved it. It was okay and delicious.

Had dinner here last Friday, came in and received a warm welcome. Unfortunately no reservations were made, and therefore no place, but at that moment a cancellation just came in and we were allowed to join, which was great and a bit of luck. Afterwards we had a very tasty and enjoyable meal, in short, this location is highly recommended. Thanks employees Braai 👌.

Tucked away in Westerpark, I highly recommend this restaurant for the lovely service and hearty, yummy food. We had the bitterballen, boerwors, biltong & ribs, which were all really delicious. The moist towlettes were a thoughtful touch. So good we went back for dinner the next day! Had chicken skewers, pork belly, and sweet potato fries. The server recommended the apple pies we ordered that, and were not disappointed! Sooooo good 😋

The service was very friendly, the girl spoke to us in Spanish, and gave us a very large weight for our group of 9, the ribs that we ordered were delicious and the portions were quite large. In total, super recommended.

Very good and tasty food. Tasty BBQ meat. We took a sharing menu. With ribs, chicken skewers, stew, sausage and pork belly. With fries, 2x different sauces, salad and fries. Definitely worth repeating! And the braai punch was also very tasty. I will definitely come back again.

Braai Had a hankering for ribs when organising a mate’s night out in Amsterdam. It’d been 2 years since I’d been out in the city and I wanted somewhere reminiscent of the days before migration. Braai did not disappoint.. at all! In fact I’m surprised they’re not on trip advisor’s top 20 list of Amsterdam ribs’ establishments. They should be. Some of the best ribs I’ve ever had - better than Cafe de Klos which were #5 on trip advisor’s list. Tender without falling apart with an awesome BBQ sauce as glaze and dipping. Topped with caramelised onions was an awesome touch. There was a smokiness other places hadn’t achieved. I’m pretty sure they used a Texas smoker as advertised on older menus. My mate had the pork belly which to my taste was delightfully fatty and sweet with a gentle smokiness. I had just one bite so can’t say much more. The service was immediately friendly and welcoming. The server came by regularly but didn’t crowd us. My mate took care of the bill (he’s a keeper) and I’m hoping he tipped her. She was great! Being off alcohol I was very glad to sample two zero percenters they had from boutique breweries - an ipa from… somewhere in the Netherlands; and Oedipus’ “Dorinku” Japanese inspired citrus beer. Twas a gooden. A great feed and a chill atmosphere 2 mins from Westerpark. Highly recommend if you love a South African Braai (bbq).

Walking past. Saw the food people were eating looked really good. So decided to pop in and have a pint. Good friendly service all staff very polite and friendly. Food was good. Popped back in on Monday with my elderly mum who had ribs which were very good. Have to give a good mention to LISA the waitress who was very good and friendly 👍👍👍

Estuve aquí un fin de semana para una boda familiar. Vino aquí el sábado de paso y tenía algo de comida. Una hamburguesa de queso con tocino. Vi costillas estaban en el menú que a mi madre anciana le gusta y se la llevó el lunes por la noche. Tengo que decir que la comida era buena en ambas ocasiones. Y un gran saludo a LISA que sirvió y fue muy amable y servicial en ambas ocasiones

Heerlijke plek om een hapje te eten. Vlak bij het Westerpark, gezellig buurtje, leuk terras, vriendelijke bediening, goed eten voor een schappelijke prijs.

Update: came back today after a long time... and very disappointed... At first it took quite a while before we got our food, that's possible.. The sweet potato fries were cold and way too crunchy.. The chicken was extremely salty, so salty that we had to leave it halfway through. Both mine and my girlfriend's. When reporting this to the staff, we did not really receive a response where we had the feeling that this was taken seriously... hence the update in my review... For 50€ 2 half grilled chicken, 1 fries and a drink, this is downright bad.

Excellent service, friendly and kind. In terms of prices, not very cheap. For a small entrecote you spend around 30 euros. I expected to eat a little better I must say given the price. I have eaten a much better entrecote in other restaurants with a price around 25 euros. The dessert taken was a cheesecake but it looked like a defrosted piece. The place inside is nice though, very made of wood and very welcoming.

Had a shared tasting platter with my spouse. The food was excellent and there was a lot of it. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed, and the prices were very reasonable. I tried their own beer and liked it a lot as well. 5/5, would recommend to anyone who visits the area.

Nach dem Besuch de Ausstellung in der Westergazfabriek sind wir per Zufall dort gelandet. 7-10 Tische drin und soviel draußen. Kaum freie Plätze ohne Reservierung, aber wir hatten Glück. Südafrikanische Küche, 10 Gerichte insgesamt vielleicht. Bier auch eigene Marke zu empfehlen. Wir hatten Blumenkohl mariniert und gegrillt ( lecker), Hähnchenspieß ( gut) und Rinderstew ( phantastisch!), Glas Rose und ein Bier, alles bei 60€. Eine klare Empfehlung.

For a barbecue restaurant it was a bit disappointing that the barbecue taste was lacking. For example, the chicken itself was juicy, but I couldn't really tell whether it had actually been on a barbecue. The overtone of the taste was the overly sweet lak sauce. The full monthy burger is a bit the same. Mega burger with a lot of meat but still lacked some flavor.

9/10 Ribs and pork were amazing, and the fries were probably the best I've ever had. The waitress was nice and polite. Be careful at the door, there is a high step. Table was wobbly and bothered us a little bit.

For drinks I opted for the African Sunrise which is made with South Aftican Leonista Agave . And my wife also had a really great cocktail. For mains we did the sharing platter which was so good, everything on the platter was delicious (Chicken, burger, ribs, and the pork belly 😍). My daughter opted for the chicken burger (minus garnish). It was a pity they didn't have any South African beers or brandy but hearing some local music (Miriam Makeba, Micasa , Johnny Clegg etc was really nice)

Braai is een zeer origineel en fijn restaurant, zeker voordat je naar een evenement gaat op het het terrein van de Westergasfabriek. Ruime kaart aan heerlijke gerechten. Ik nam de Mac 'n Cheese balletjes vooraf en de Pork Belly als hoofdgerecht. Allebei heerlijk. Bediening is vlot en vriendelijk, prijs is redelijk.

A pretty decent bar and restaurant located near west in Amsterdam also pretty close to gasfabriek museum. We had a dinner there and food was pretty good . Environment also was nice not much loud and service was very good.

Outstanding service and food. We had the sharing plate, which is very well served, and the food was so tasty. It comes with a burger, ribs, sausage, barbecue chicken, cobs, fries... It's the perfect choice to get a taste of everything they offer. The service was so friendly and quick, they all made the experience much more pleasant. I'll definitely be coming back.

Food was decent, but this really shouldn't be called a braai! Three star charcoal restaurant! But it has nothing to do with a South African braai.

The food was great, a bit on the hot side, but nothing a mayo couldn't calm down. The homemade lemonade was really good! They were a bit slow but did apologize for it but not to an extreme.
