Braai Westerpark in Staatsliedenbuurt

Starters and one main course were very good, but the other main course, the rump steak, was simply bad. I had been looking forward to a juicy and tender piece of meat, but it was tough, dry, and sinewy. I did mention it afterwards, but perhaps I should have said it immediately... The service was very friendly and helpful.

Nice place on a pleasant summer evening. We sat outside on the terrace. Great authentic home made food and we really enjoyed the home brewed beer. I do not like ordering by phone app, but the staff was very helpful taking orders by hand.

The food was meager and unremarkable, but the worst part was all those screaming visitors. Really very vulgar.

Food was nice although slightly cold, but the flavours made up for that so we weren’t bothered! the service was slightly slow, but the waitress was friendly.

Edited review: “You only really get to know a service provider when something goes wrong for once.” After my first review, Thijs contacted me to report that our less-than-ideal experience was unusual and intentional, and a polite solution was offered for us to come back for dinner to be served and experienced in the proper way, along with a complimentary drink. Resolved nicely and good service. I dined at Braai again last Friday and the service was excellent and enthusiastic. The Cape platter was delicious once more, and this time it was actually served with all the listed dishes. More than enough meat and side dishes for 2 people.

The food and the service were excellent. We stayed until the closing time and that's when we starting seeing the rats. There were multiple of them, most of them very small, running around and hiding near the walls and below the bench seats/radiators.

Nice restaurant, impeccable service with a smile, and above all, very good burgers. We also recommend the ribs, which are absolutely delicious!

We had a dinner experience, that was good. The staff could use an extra person, but the cook handed out the food himself, which helped a bit. The Braai Blonde (Brave Hendrikus Bier) added to the experience.

no hygiene! i saw the waitress wiped the dirty table with bones and fries down to the floor did not clean the floor... i mean hello... the ambiance is full of foods on the floor from the previous customers and food is overpriced ribs is too sweet and mind your its 23 euros without sides you have order fries for 6 euros... the only thing I liked was the lemonade... not coming back... you can better ribs out there

First of all, we had a delicious meal. The salmon was fine and the fries were perfectly fried. The wine was decent and the service friendly. They worked very hard. The service is somewhat disorganized, which makes things chaotic. We had to wait well over an hour; we had made a reservation, but the booking was not processed very well. Fortunately, the food was fine. That is why we gave it a 4-star rating. If the service were truly streamlined, it would result in a huge improvement.

It was fantastic again! Good service! The food was top-notch again. 1 tip: make sure everything on the menu is available and that you purchase a new blender for the Amarula dessert. It was not available this time because the blender was apparently broken.

Nice atmosphere and all but you’re so understaffed it took like 1h for food to arrive. It was so slow we had to tell them we needed to go. Food quite mid tbh, also standing in the pickup area for like 10 min before the host/runner/server could come pick it up due to how busy he was. Restaurant wasnt even half full…

This was one of my favorite place but not anymore. I'll tell you and you be the judge of it. We (2) arrived at 19.30, half of the tables are empty. He told us the tables are reserved and we should sit by the window on the bar chairs. We started walk away then he said, we can sit one of the long tables. We set down, ordered 2 beers, one burger and a stake. After half an hour, nothing and ordered 2 more beers. All the remaining tables are still empty. After 1 hour, we asked about the food. He said sorry it's a busy night. He brought us some dry meat. I wanted to leave but my friend suggested to wait. We got our food after 1 hour and 15 minutes. He said he was sorry and the 4 beers we drank was on the house. And the half of the tables were still empty when we left. So.. Why do you look ne in the eye and tell me that all the tables are reserved when they are not. That's for me unacceptable. Sorry, but my first day at job doesn't cut it. Then waiting for a food more than an hour is also unacceptable. This is your job. You tell your customers that you're busy and food might take an hour. For me Braai is no longer a restaurant! It has become a take out place. This is the end of Braai for me!

Scandalous! I ordered here. Loaded garlic fries, coleslaw, spareribs, and corn on the cob. You pay €10 for the loaded garlic fries alone, which is steep but understandable for a larger portion; however, I received half a container of cold fries with a tiny bit of Parmesan on top. The corn on the cob and the meat were cold as well. If you sell something for delivery, I think you should also consider how it is packaged (with aluminum foil, for example) so that it arrives somewhat warm.

Really good food, we had the fish and chips, the crispy chicken burger and the monthly burger and parmesan garlic loaded fries. So good! Service was great, the lady was very kind and the environment was super good, with great music, very chill!

We had a deal via social deal but the food was very good and enough for the 4 of us to visit and the desert I had the pudding and it was delicious went home with a belly full of food and laughter.

Stay away from this place if you value honesty and hospitality. Braai advertises a "shared dining menu" on Social Deal for €48.50 per person, but what you get is a ridiculously small wooden board with some leftover meat that doesn't even remotely justify the advertised price. Inquiries revealed that this "menu" isn't even on the regular menu; it's simply a stripped-down version to cover the promotional price. It's not a "deal," but rather a deception. When I confronted the staff about this, the situation only worsened. Instead of a solution, I was left arguing for 20 minutes with a "manager" who blamed me as a customer, refused to leave the table when I asked for quiet, and continued to attack me for refusing a plate of nachos as compensation for a ruined dinner. We eventually got up without dessert and left because the atmosphere was completely ruined by the staff's hostile attitude. Fortunately, Social Deal took the complaint seriously and resolved it satisfactorily, but you can't expect any service from this restaurant. Absolutely not recommended!

Nothing really special about this place. The ribs were delicious but my friend's ribs were partially burnt. The staff are very nice but not super helpful, once you lose them it's tough to get a hold of someone. The food arrived quite quickly though.

On Saturday, Jan 24, the waiter overcharged me for my lunch with a friend without informing me.. I only discovered this when reviewing my credit card statement yesterday. This is unacceptable and dishonest behavior. I live in the neighbourhood. TBH, the food was better a year ago. WARMING: always double-check the amount entered on the card machine before paying in this restaurant!

It was incredible looking, but it was slightly cold in the venue. The food though was delicious! We had a meat platter with chicken, spare ribs, pork belly and boerenworst. Highly recommend this one! One down side; there was only one waitress. We were on a Sunday at 17:00 it was very doable, but around 18:00 the place got so full she had to turn down people who hadn’t had made a reservation. She was running around and doing her excellent best, but still she shouldn’t be standing alone on such a busy night. Even less, well done to her though

It was simply magnificent, the beer was amazing (specifically South African, it's on a separate menu), the ribs were amazing, as was the Solomon. The waiter was a pleasant, quiet man who was always willing to offer suggestions and help. It was delicious, I highly recommend it!

We had a fantastic evening at Braai in Amsterdam. The presentation of the dishes was beautiful, and the meat was perfectly barbecued—from the tender sirloin steak to the flavorful spare ribs and chicken, everything was top-quality. I got a cold burger. That felt like it come out of the deep freeze. Bad bad. Even a deep Freeze would have tasten better. Pretty f up when the rest of your party is eating and just waiting for a burger at temperature. If you drink and dont give f about the food its the perfect place for you

Burger was cold and felt like chewing rubber. Burger meat are from the freezer. Wasn't even thawed properly. Spareribs was ok, a bit dry. And for the price above €20 I expected that it comes with a salad and fries. Never coming back there again.

This red velvet cake made me sick vomit how dare you serve something that has gone that bad with smells of fridge and is entirely not fresh especially if it has dairy or cheese you can not possibly do that to people ordering food from you trusting you. The burger was still raw from inside and was cold. My stomach is entirely ill because of this cace i had after the burger

First time trying some South African-inspired cuisine - thanks to recommendations by a lovely friend - and Braai did not disappoint! The staff is very friendly, and can help anyone either in Dutch or English. Food-wise, I opted for the Biltong (small portion) and Boerewors as appetizers. Both came out quickly and were utterly delicious. I was worried I wouldn't like Biltong because jerky isn't my thing - either flavor-wise or texture-wise - but this is a very different - and very tasty!!! - type of food, which was devoured pretty quickly. The same goes for the Boerewors, which was nice, meaty, herby, and paired well with the chutney. Absolute 10/10 for both! My main course was the pulled brisket burger, which is fairly messy to eat if you use your hands. Even so, that is half the fun, so just give it a try. The only downside to the burger is how quickly I ate it and was left wanting more, but I ultimately opted out because I knew my stomach would punish me for it later on. For drinks, I tried both the Ginger Mule and South African mocktails, which both hit the spot. Will definitely visit again when I'm in Amsterdam again!

Braai Westerpark serves delicious food with great flavors. Some of the appetizers felt a bit small for the price, but the quality made up for it. They were very kind and accommodating with our large group reservation, which made the experience even better. Would definitely return!

Overpriced and very small meet portions

Pork ribs with bbq sauce very good, my chicken skewer maybe a little too browned so not so juicy. Baked pumpkin ok, fried sweet potatoes I would have preferred less fried. Friendly service, fast.

Didn't leave a good impression. After having a nice experience with friends at Fabrique des Lumières on the Westergas terrain, we wanted to have a nice meal nearby. I had found Braai via Google for this and that seemed like a good choice. Because it was a bit windy, we chose to sit inside. It was very quiet, but it was only 5:40 PM, so that seemed logical to us. The first thing we noticed was that the table was still dirty. After we reported this, part of it was cleaned, but not the entire table. The menus, which look nice by the way, were all sticky and simply not clean. That doesn't have to happen and certainly when it's quiet you can pay attention to that. We chose two starters to share between the four of us. They weren't bad, but not great either. The service was generally good. That should be said in between. We didn't choose any difficult main courses. 3 times the Full Monthy burgers, of which 1 without jalapeño pepper and a Steak. The burger without pepper was not successful at first and when it was there it became clear that the pepper had been removed manually....but not completely. For someone who can't handle that, that is not nice. Another burger was really too raw and was remade. This was done without any problems, so it is not due to the service. The third burger was fine, but not great either. In short; it was not a good experience. A team from a restaurant in that area of ​​Amsterdam should really perform better to make it. People who sat behind us did not have a good experience either. We hope that it was perhaps a snapshot for Braai where it was a bad day. We will not be back there in the near future. Despite that, the employees were nice and willing. That is not the problem. But there is no experienced team who sees what it takes to successfully run a restaurant.

Food is really great, service is great. Music could be a bit softer

Ambiance is sfeervol. Er was voldoende keuze in waar we konden zitten. Persoonlijk zit ik het liefst aan een tafel met stoelen. Er is ook een optie om aan een lange tafel met zitbanken te zitten of aan een hoge tafel aan het raam. Bediening was vriendelijk. Jammer dat er geen gewoon bier meer was (tap was leeg) en een ander niet was direct bijna 2x zoveel. Ik wilde graag de gegrilde zalm, maar die was ook op. De burgers waren prima, al verwacht je bij een burger ook wat frietjes en dat moest apart besteld worden. De gegrilde groente bij de Braai steak betroffen 3/4 stukjes wortel en mini maiskolfjes. Steak was goed, maar ook daarbij zou je wat friet verwachten. De nachos Braai style waren goed gevuld en erg lekker. Fijn dat je hier gewoon nog een karaf kraanwater kunt krijgen.

The food is absolutely amazing! It's way better than I expected. The service is top notch. I recommend anyone thinking of going here! And the prices are pretty good as well, together with great portions. Reservation is mandatory, though. I'd definitely come here again.

Chose to go here while visiting Amsterdam and was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was quirky as always in Amsterdam and the food was great. I had the vegan burger and it was one of the best tasting burger I have eaten as a vegetarian. It had the perfect combination of condiments and sauces. My wife had a chicken burger and was savouring it without speaking which says something!Would highly recommend.

Very disappointing. We have ordered from Braai before and were always satisfied, but this time everything went wrong. Several items were missing: the coleslaw was forgotten and we missed the BBQ sauce that normally comes standard with the chicken nuggets. In addition, we received the wrong drink. The only solution offered was that we had to reorder and would only be reimbursed for the coleslaw afterwards - not the delivery costs or the incorrectly delivered drink. What we were particularly surprised about was the way the staff responded. During the conversation we heard one employee continuously instructing the other and making inappropriate comments in between, such as “Whatever.” This struck us as incredibly unprofessional. It's a shame, unfortunately we won't order from here again.

Braai was one of our favorite places to order for a long time, but unfortunately not anymore after our last experience. When we contacted about the errors in our order, very little effort was made to resolve it. Sad to see that the service has deteriorated so much.
