Delicious food, but the table almost fell apart.

Just popped in for lunch. I can only say "really great." Friendly service, cozy atmosphere, clean, the food was excellent and served quickly despite the crowded place. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

What hospitality! On a cold Monday afternoon, my colleague and I were looking for a restaurant to catch up...but everything was closed. At Brasserie Het Raadhuis, they were putting up Christmas decorations outside, and even though they were closed, we were invited in for a cup of coffee. We were completely spoiled with a delicious piece of cake with our coffee! Unparalleled service and hospitality!

The food was good, very tasty. However, the service sometimes took a very long time. I'm afraid there was a staff shortage. The long wait made it much worse.

A super cozy and welcoming restaurant. The carrot roll is a great vegetarian dish and also delicious! By the way, the bitterballen are also excellent.

Delicious, plentiful and well-served meal

We biked in from Dordrecht, soaking wet, this place was perfect. Staff was very friendly, great service, cool atmosphere. I had the red curry soup, it was delicious.. perfect after biking in the rain for over 2 hours.

Bad experience at restaurant Raadhuis in Vreeswijk/Nieuwegein – medical complaint ignored During lunch at restaurant Raadhuis, I ordered Surf & Turf, which clearly stated it would be served with sourdough bread (white or brown). Due to my medical condition (esophageal achalasia), it's essential that I only eat sourdough – other breads cause severe cramps and vomiting. Despite my explicit inquiries, I was assured that the dark multigrain bread served was sourdough. After just three bites, I experienced severe symptoms: sweating, pain, nausea, and ultimately vomiting. Attempts to get help from the staff were ignored. Only later did I receive a response from the owner, who was primarily defensive and wanted to prove her point rather than showing empathy or responsibility. She showed me a label that read "dark multigrain sourdough" – which is not sourdough and, moreover, proved unsuitable for my condition. The owner even claimed it was "my own responsibility," even though the menu clearly stated "sourdough bread." Ultimately, I was offered half the bill, which I was forced to accept because I felt ill and wanted to leave as quickly as possible. I feel misled, not taken seriously, and downright made ill by the inaccurate information and unprofessional handling. This could have been prevented with proper product knowledge, attention, and empathy. Very disappointing and potentially dangerous for people with medical dietary restrictions. Response to message from Brasserie Raadhuis, July 21, 2025 Thank you for your response, but I would like to correct a few things, given the factual inaccuracies and the tone of your defense. Firstly, my medical condition was clearly stated before ordering. I specifically asked about the sourdough bread listed on the menu, explaining that I can only tolerate real sourdough due to esophageal achalasia. Your employee then confirmed that the bread served was sourdough. This later turned out to be incorrect: it was a sourdough mix multigrain bread with additives that immediately caused serious symptoms, including vomiting. The accusation that I did not sufficiently disclose my medical condition is therefore unjustified and inappropriately shifts responsibility back to the guest. Your staff should have been better informed about what was actually being served, especially when it was explicitly requested in the context of a medical emergency. Dismissing my report as "out of proportion" and "threatening" is a misplaced distraction from the core of the problem: incorrect information about food and a lack of empathy during and after the incident. There was no medical assistance, no serious listening, and no responsibility on your part when it really mattered. The leniency of only asking for half the bill when I became ill due to your employee's incorrect explanation is not generous, but necessary. It would have been more fitting if you had taken responsibility for this, instead of hiding behind disclaimers. In short: this could have been prevented with care, expertise, and hospitality. Unfortunately, your response confirms the lack of reflection and empathy I also experienced during my visit. I hope you will still take this situation seriously and learn from what went wrong – for the safety of future guests with medical dietary restrictions.

A charming restaurant, both in terms of location and decor. Unfortunately, they have absolutely no idea how to prepare a steak. The only options seem to be "shoe-sole" or rare (I sent my and my girlfriend's shoe-sole steaks back, and we received a nearly raw steak, despite asking for medium or medium rare...). Service could also be better; "coming in 5 minutes" quickly turned into a fifteen-minute wait, meaning our fellow diners had already finished their food before my girlfriend and I received our replacement meal. During dessert, one of our guests also had to wait a long time for their coffee. All this despite the restaurant being far from full.

We had a wonderful time sitting on the terrace by the water. The food was truly delicious and surprising, not standard fare.

Disappointing experience. The chicken satay was tasteless; the satay sauce was absolutely essential to make it even worthwhile. Marinating seems to have been completely forgotten here. The chicken looked pre-cooked and reheated later. The tournedos, unfortunately, was no better: bland, not tender but rather tough, and it also seemed pre-cooked instead of freshly prepared in the pan. Not recommended.

Gezellige Brasserie,vooraf breekbroodje met smeersel,hoofgerecht heerlijk sate gegeten,vriendelijk personeel,zeker een aanrader. Ga zeker nog een keer terug.

Great spot with a view of the water from the terrace. We had a snack platter, which was very tasty, but it's a shame you can only order it at 15:00. We were there at 14:30 and had to wait half an hour before we could order it. The terrace itself could be decorated a bit more cozy, with plants/nice lights and maybe some music. We missed a little bit of atmosphere.

Tijdens een lunch in restaurant Raadhuis heb ik Surf & Turf besteld, waarbij duidelijk werd aangegeven dat dit geserveerd zou worden met zuurdesembrood (wit of bruin). Vanwege mijn medische aandoening (achalasie van de slokdarm) is het essentieel dat ik alleen zuurdesem eet – ander brood veroorzaakt hevige krampen en braken. Ondanks mijn expliciete navraag werd mij verzekerd dat het geserveerde donkere meergranenbrood zuurdesem was. Al na drie happen kreeg ik ernstige klachten: zweten, pijn, misselijkheid, en uiteindelijk heb ik moeten overgeven. Pogingen om hulp te krijgen van het personeel werden genegeerd. Pas later kreeg ik een reactie van de eigenaresse, die vooral defensief reageerde en haar gelijk wilde halen, in plaats van empathie of verantwoordelijkheid te tonen. Ze toonde een etiket waar "desem donker meergranen" op stond – wat géén zuurdesem is, en bovendien ongeschikt bleek voor mijn aandoening. De eigenaar stelde zelfs dat het "mijn eigen verantwoordelijkheid" was, terwijl de menukaart duidelijk "zuurdesem brood" vermeldde. Uiteindelijk kreeg ik een voorstel om de helft van de rekening te betalen, waar ik noodgedwongen mee akkoord ging omdat ik me ziek voelde en zo snel mogelijk weg wilde. Ik voel me misleid, niet serieus genomen, en ronduit ziek gemaakt door onzorgvuldige informatie én onprofessionele afhandeling. Dit had voorkomen kunnen worden met correcte productkennis, aandacht en empathie. Erg teleurstellend en potentieel gevaarlijk voor mensen met medische dieetbeperkingen.

Bread camembert consisted of a whole melted liquified brie in a soup bowl. Very unappetizing and really gross..

The main meal fruit de mers was served lukewarm. Meal was taken back. Unfortunately, the seafood and pasta in the 'new' hot meal was halved and chewy. The restaurant thought it was nonsense that we were not satisfied 2 times. Very disappointed in the reaction of this brasserie.

The main course was served almost cold, this was sent back. After some time a new plate, it seemed as if it had been heated up again. what was on the plate was now less, in addition, the remaining seafood was downright tough and a number of shells were empty. Again, we ate almost none of this. When the owner was confronted about this, he dismissed it as: his literal words, nonsense. Never again will I eat here.

Unfortunately, I had a somewhat disappointing experience. The food wasn't anything special, even though the price suggests otherwise. The service was friendly, though.

On Sunday afternoon, February 9, 2025, we decided to look for the oldest part of Nieuwegein. From the Jutphaas district the journey was just over 4 kilometers to the Raadhuisplein. We were really surprised to see that we ended up at a (former) harbor, with indeed houses from the late 19th century (the oldest one we saw dated from 1887) and also some old churches (including the reformed church). There are several catering establishments with terraces at the harbor. And there are some beautiful old drawbridges. You can go up to the quay wall via a staircase. Then you have a super beautiful view of the river (the Lek). And you can take a nice walk on the shore. We decided to have lunch at Brasserie het Raadhuis. The interior was cozy and contemporary. Friendly team. The dishes arrived quickly. Salmon sandwich and bread with 2 croquettes. Neat presentation and excellent taste. However, the choice to serve pulled pork croquettes was not such a great idea. Annoying if you need toothpicks immediately. The cappuccino was served with a good milk collar (and cookie). After 1 more drink the total bill came to just €40. We will come back again in sunny weather. Then we like to spend time on the terrace of Het Raadhuis on the side of the river. I think it would be wonderful to enjoy the wide view of the river with a glass of wine or beer. (and with another croquette for lunch)

We had lunch here, the food was tasty but the portions were a bit on the small side. Most prices are also what you expect from a restaurant, but 7 euros for 1 bottle of water??? That's really absurd

More expensive than a glass of red wine???? Portion of bitterballen….€10,- Euro!!! Ridiculous!!! Just act normal...people won't come back if you continue like this!!

In my opinion the menu has improved a lot, now more "something for everyone". It's nicely decorated, it just feels relaxed. Yes, I will definitely come back.

Had dinner tonight, cozy atmosphere, nice opportunity to sit. Too bad the food was cold, especially the vegetables were stone cold. Passed this on and as compensation I could get fries. Doesn't seem like proper compensation to me. When I got home my wife got sick. She had the Satay. We won't eat here again

cockle starter was delicious. The main course was duck breast. It was delicious, but for all of us (6 people) the vegetables were cold and the fries were too salty. the service was friendly but there was a lot of clatter on the floor..

Very friendly staff. Being able to have lunch in peace. Nice attractive decor, a bit fresh. Tea was not served hot. Free parking in front of the door. Large side salad for a very reasonable price.

A fairly small but a very good card. The wine recommended with the dishes matched perfectly. And the service was friendly and adequate.

Het restaurant heeft een leuke sfeer. Het duurde ongeveer een uur voordat het voorgerecht kwam. Tartaar was prima. Mijn hoofdgerecht, een curry met kikkererwten, was verschrikkelijk. Het had niets weg van een curry, het was alleen heel erg zout. Ik heb na een hap aangegeven dat ik om genoemde redenen niet happy was met dit gerecht. Er is aangeboden een nieuwe te maken. Omdat het inmiddels na 21.30 was heb ik dat niet gedaan. Tot mijn verbazing stond het gerecht (niet gegeten) op de rekening. Bij navragen werd aangegeven dat er niets van de rekening kon worden gehaald. Jammer dit, €22 voor een bord zoute kikkererwten.

Have eaten or drunk here several times with a motorcycle ride. Good food, beautiful view over the water and the dike around the corner. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice place to come back often.

We aten buiten op het terras ivm verjaardag van mijn schoonmoeder. Mooi uitzicht op het water. Het eten vond ik matig: De tomka-soep had niets weg van de originele kokossoep, de vegetarische bloemkoolsteak erg zout, nauwelijks groenten en de friet moest je erbij bestellen. De koffie met lekkernijen bleek koffie met 4 mini-bonbons. Normaal kan ik geen 3 gangen op, nu had ik nog trek. Daarbij alles stevig aan de prijs en lang moeten wachten op het eten. Ook de bediening was niet heel vriendelijk. Voor mij de laatste keer.

On Sunday my mother took us out for dinner because she had something to celebrate. Upon entering, we unfortunately noticed a lax attitude from the owner and staff. We had a table on the terrace. I ordered Tuna Tataki for 13 euros. For what was offered, 4 pieces and besides cucumber, a high price. I think the same about 5 euros for 18 fries with a lick of mayo. We also had a vegetarian tom kha kay soup. I forgive non-Thai speakers for not being able to include Kay, the Thai word for chicken, in a vegetarian soup, but not for leaving out the key ingredient, coconut milk. According to the menu, Koffie Friandise is: Coffee choice with delicious sweets. You get 4 or 5 chocolates for 10 euros. No effort made at all. I don't understand the price in relation to what is offered. We certainly paid more than 240 euros for 5 people with zero service. My mother was treated unfairly by the staff on the terrace. Luckily she didn't hear it, but we did. What bothered me most was the attitude of the owner. I spoke to her about the above matters, but she did not respond to my constructive criticism. As an entrepreneur, you have to learn from your customers. I have a lot of colleagues/friends in the Utrecht catering industry and they would be ashamed. I don't need an answer now and I would be happy to explain it verbally live. As long as people learn from it and do something with it. I have seen several businesses go bankrupt due to poor service in combination with high prices. This may be a side issue for the owner, I honestly don't know, but there are also employees who have to pay rent or mortgage and those people should not have to pay for something that is easy to solve.

Unfortunately it wasn't that positive. We wanted something to drink after a walk. When we entered, the back patio was full. They didn't say anything after that. We then waited fifteen minutes and then got the service. There was no drinks menu. The tea was fine, but it was just from a bag, not fresh tea. When we wanted to pay, the waiter was unable to do so. There was only 1 ATM inside and there was a queue. We won't do this again, unfortunately!

You can enjoy a tasty lunch and friendly service on the attractive terrace. The Camembert from the oven was delicious. Be sure to order some extra bread because it is a lot of cheese. And my girlfriend was also very pleased with the Sourdough Bread with Tuna Salad.

Ons teamuitje eindigde op het terras van Het Raadhuis. De bediening was vriendelijk en vlot en de borrelplanken heerlijk. Een gelegenheid om naar terug te keren.

Prime food, taste was good and environment is cozy. Quantity was okay, not excessive. Day menu fish was a bit on the meager side in terms of quantity compared to meat.

We were there for team dinner. Service was good and the speed is just right. Food was delicious. Recommended for big group/event. Only parking spot was a little bit hard to find, 4-5minutes walking distance.

Too bad you couldn't eat outside. The crème brullé pudding was too soft and the sugar layer too thin, but the taste was good.

After a wonderful day of cycling, we went to eat in the town hall brasserie. Table reserved for 4 people on the "leek terrace". After we had placed the tables in a shady spot and asked if the tables could be cleaned, we went to eat. I had the catch of the day, Sea Bass. This one was incredibly salty, I did eat it but it wasn't really tasty. No one came by during the meal to ask if it tasted good. At the end, when we had finished eating, someone came by to get the plates, etc. I then stated that I did not like the sea bass. It would be passed on and that was it.. Furthermore, there were no side dishes with the main menu, so fries, for example, had to be ordered separately.

Love this restaurant with a stunning view on the river. The owner is very friendly and used to serving guests herself. The food is really delicious although the awaiting time is quite long sometimes (not a big problem if you have a good company 😉). Only 4 stars because the waitress was way too strange. We speak Dutch badly and despite we spoke English with her, she was persistent and spoke Dutch regardless, no matter what we said. That seemed a bit disrespectful as the very same waitress spoke English with us last year. Eventually, of course, we could make our order but felt really uncomfortable.

Came for dinner with a group of 9. Although the starter was tasty (ceviche), we had to wait more than 1.5 hours for our starter. The main course looked fine, but unfortunately had a bland taste (fish pot). The waiting times were partly compensated by the fact that the manager had removed the side dishes from the bill, which was very nice. All in all, had to wait a very long time for the food. For a restaurant that prices itself in the upper class, you would expect that both the food and service should have been excellent. Unfortunately.

Unfriendly owner. When you come in and you want to walk to a place she screams where are you going. Now go outside. Can't, maybe there's no room. Well I don't hear it again, I see tons of places. So she doesn't know what's going on on her terrace. Waitress sweet and nice. I indicated what I wanted regarding diet. If you don't get that, then you add something that is not on the menu and that I don't like. Salmon is rationed. Lots of lettuce on the bread. Too expensive for a lunch. Not recommended. Used to be great place and owner. Now overpriced and not value for money. Won't see us there again.

After an obligatory long sitting of 2 hours, before the main course was finally served, I got my steak. I'm pregnant, so clearly; well done. The steak looked good on the outside, but still (medium) rare on the inside. Can happen. But after sending it back, the waiter came back and said disrespectfully, “Would you like to see if you are satisfied now?” I cut open the steak, it is red again. To which a table companion says: “cut them into pieces, then fry them”. No sooner said than done... Meat was good. Apparently dessert had to come from the ice cream man around the corner, the wait was again 20 minutes. Conclusion: Take your time and bring good company. Don't come if you are pregnant or eat salad.

Very tasty food! The people were friendly and had no problem with our request to first enjoy the view with a drink on the rear terrace. After a while we were called because the starter was on the table inside. Good service! Great food! There is a cozy atmosphere inside and the price is not the cheapest, but certainly not the most expensive. As far as I'm concerned, we'll be back soon!

Leuk gelegen restaurant middenin Vreeswijk. Parkeren matig. Restaurant stinkt naar oudbakken vet. Eten en wijn best goed. Bediening vlot en vriendelijk. Goed tempo van uitserveren. Inrichting mooi, modern. Heeft in zomer terras en aan de achterkant cq rivierzierzijde een serre met uitzicht..

The food was good, they had done their best for Valentine's Day with a nice heart-shaped carpaccio. However, it took quite a while for the food to arrive. I could see that the service was super busy and was trying to do their best. I personally wouldn't come back here because of the price ratio and the wait for your food was quite long.

Food was good, service friendly but price ratio much too high. 22 euros for a very small piece of redfish fillet and 6 euros for a portion of fries and also 6 euros for a salad with the fish... Too bad! After my complaint about this, this was kindly compensated with an extra chocolate voucher with my dessert... A one-off for us.

Vriendelijk personeel. Eten was prima maar een heel klein stukje roodbaars voor 22 euro waarbij friet en salade apart betaald moesten worden. Prijs niet in verhouding met hoeveelheid. Mijn klacht hierover werd vriendelijk gecompenseerd met een extra bonbon bij mijn dessert...

Went out for dinner with my wife at the end of December. We chose this restaurant because of the vegetarian options, but the portion (main course) was incredibly small. When we got home she still had to eat.
