Himalayam in Stadscentrum

They marked my order as ready for pickup, but when I arrived I still had to wait 20 minutes. It showed as ready on 22 November at 17:21, yet I only received it at 17:40. When I got there they had only just started preparing it. There was not even a proper apology or any sense of regret

This is not an Indian or Nepalese restaurant. Food is prepared by someone who doesn't know the actual taste. The chicken biryani was tasteless, Paneer sizzler was very tomatoyee. Mango lassi, samosa were ok. Kip momo was nothing like Nepalese or Indian momos. Would not recommend it.

The food was more than adequate per course. There was a wide variety of choices. The selection of naan breads was also excellent. The service was excellent; we were served by Natasha, a very spontaneous and friendly young woman. All in all, we had a lovely evening and a delicious meal, definitely worth repeating.

I went into this restaurant and was hesitant because of the prices, but when they saw me, they understood my situation and gave me the food for free. Honestly, I was moved to tears, not because it was free, but because of their kindness and big heart. And the food? It was the best I've had in the entire city! Warm-hearted people and delicious food... try it yourself and you'll understand what I mean ❤️⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Delicious food. We tried a dish with all the dishes. It was delicious. Some background music was nice, but the restaurant was lovely. The delivery was very fast.

We ordered the fried chicken momos (which were okay) and the samosa (too strong taste of cumin) to start. My wife had the King Prawn Sizzler (too salty) and I had the Chicken Madras which was spicy but flavourless. The naan felt more like flatbread than an actual naan. We didn't take the leftovers home - which tells you how disappointing the meal was. Parking is available at Cityplaza or Stadhuis.

Been here multiple times, don't have to wait for a very long time for the food to arrive. Inside it's a pretty decor and the selection of food is also quite diverse. I love eating here so I definitely recommend

Yesterday we ordered food again and once we got home it turned out that we had again received the wrong order. I don't understand how the restaurant manages to get the orders wrong over and over again. At Himalayam things always go wrong one way or another. It's starting to look like it's almost happening on purpose, because otherwise I can't explain it. Even when I pick up my order, I have to strictly check it on the spot. If I don't do that, I can guaranteed return for the correct order. Reading carefully and giving the correct order seems too high a level there. If something goes wrong, you will at most get a free drink and have to wait extra long. I would rather have my order go right for once. It no longer surprises me, but I find it very tiring and frustrating. I have therefore decided to NEVER order from there again. We are simply disappointed too often. Hopefully the restaurant will do something with this review, because the food is honestly very tasty and that is not the reason. But the service deserves a very poor rating (minus *****) There is still a lot to learn in that area. If necessary, hire someone who can read well and processes orders correctly.

I've eaten here twice now, and the food is delicious! The service is very friendly, and the prices are reasonable. Highly recommended!

Delicious food, long wait. Didn't diminish the taste.

Ordered patiala which the website says is gluten free, and even though I specifically said I cannot eat gluten, they put a gulab jamun (a dough ball) in the dessert.They refused to help other than saying I should come by the restaurant or that next time I get a free dessert. I got passed on to 5 people over the phone who refused to listen to me, and ended up hanging up on me. 9 euros wasted and no solution other than never going back again and warning people about this terrible restaurant. Furthermore the food is tasteless and meat dry. A complete and utter waste of money and time.

The food was very tasty, with delicious herbs! Unfortunately the service was very poor. We always had to wait at least 25/30 minutes for our food or drinks. The most disturbing thing was that the table next to us was used as a dumping ground for glass waste, which ruined a lot for me. Fortunately, the employee apologized and wanted to offer something extra, which we appreciated.

Yesterday evening we had a dinner at Himalayam. We reserved a table online. The quality and taste of the food was good, but some dishes on the menu weren’t available. We ordered some starters and main dishes and asked for them to be served at the same time. Unfortunately our request wasn’t met. We were seated near the kitchen and outside door with a cold air in my neck every time the door opened.

Waited an hour for twenty minutes after giving our order, received no food at all in that time, before giving up and just paying for the drinks and going home.

We had just been to theater De Kom and wanted to have something to eat quickly at 5.30 pm, because we had been here before (with reservations at the time) we just walked in, the entire restaurant was empty, and I wanted a nice table at the back. at the benches or in the front by the window…. But that wasn't possible because that table was for 4 people and we were only allowed to sit at a small table in the middle of the room, which I didn't want... I indicated three times that I would like to sit in the back or in the front, and because it was empty and also very early in the evening, because if people still come to eat, they usually only come after 6:30 PM... Even though the restaurant was almost empty, we didn't get another table, so we said let's go again, but it's a shame that it has to be this way, I'll never go there again even though the food is tasty, it's ridiculous that they treat you like that, not getting a table very early in the evening because a larger group of people might come, who would then have to sit at a table for 4…. And those tables weren't even reserved because then I would have understood that we would be leaving within an hour... I can still be angry about it or actually I'm still disappointed about it... such a shame... But we won't go here anymore...

What bad service!!! The entire restaurant was empty and there was only 1 couple by the window at a table of 6 chairs. The two of us came in and we wanted to sit right at the back. She indicates yes, what time are you leaving? I thought it was a strange question, you leave when you're done eating. Yes, because I can't give the last one because it is for 4 people?!!! Like what the..?? The whole restaurant was literally empty!! Very bad service, never at Himalayam for us. And don't come up with a nonsense story that was reserved because nothing was reserved. Be happy that you get customers on a Tuesday evening!! And is it possible to seat a couple by a window at a table of 6? Shame on you!

Delicious food! Service could be better. We were given a table upstairs, but before we had ordered food we were allowed to move downstairs. (For no reason.) It was pleasantly full there, but because the door was open and we were sitting in a draft, it was not very pleasant to sit. We asked if the door could be closed, which was allowed, but this was not answered. The ladies serving were also not very keen on empty glasses. We had to beckon someone to order drinks, even though we were sitting close to the bar and they regularly passed by.

Mediocre food, and bad cocktails. Ordered dumplings with chicken but chicken was not found.

Good food, nice atmosphere, excellent service, a good explanation of the dishes in terms of bedis = (hot in taste, lots of peppers) a recommendation with several people, I recommend making a reservation.

Had a delicious meal today. We all had something different so we could share together. The service was friendly and (too) fast. Almost immediately after we had finished the starters, the main courses were ready for the table. We postponed this for a while because we were not in a hurry. The portions are large. We took some leftovers home so we can enjoy them again tomorrow. Coveralls; We will definitely come back!

Spontaneously had dinner here with our family. Very nice atmospheric restaurant. Delicious biryani. Children's menu was fine. It is indicated that all meat dishes are halal, which is very nice. Food was served reasonably well and the staff was really friendly. I will definitely come back here. Recommended!

Went there for dinner yesterday and I thought the food was reasonable, but the service was really slow, we were waiting for drinks for about 10 minutes per glass and had to ask every time if we could order something to drink, no, not recommended

For a local eatery you can speak of excellent cuisine. One of the better tents in this city that has the allure to become a big city. The tandoori chicken is highly recommended.

Best Indian food you can get in and around Utrecht.

Very tasty food with pure flavors. A far too extensive menu with more than 100 dish options, they should be smarter about that. We had a candle light menu for 2 people. Unfortunately we did not get the traditional dessert, but only some ice cream with whipped cream. We didn't report it because we had to get to the theater on time. I did miss enthusiasm in the service, such as a smile. When serving, we did not say what was served on the table, only the main course, but it was so softly that we could not hear it. Nevertheless, highly recommended because the food is very tasty. Ideal when visiting the adjacent theater.

Unfortunately, what a sad intention. Service is distant, not interested, the food is made as easy as possible: bowl of rice and a bowl with the sauce you ordered. A mini bowl of lettuce like you buy in a bag in the supermarket, without dressing! Unfortunately.

The food was absolutely fantastic. The chicken, as well as the paneer, was perfectly cooked; tender and chewy. The sauce was not oily, but fresh and full of taste. I requested a spicy version of a curry and got it; not too intense, but absolutely noticeable. Bonus points for their amazing vegetarian and vegan choices, this is rare, but very welcome. The drink menu is small, but decent. The waiting staff can be a bit absent and you'll have to reach out if you want to order something. Even though its location next to a theater is useful and the inside of the restaurant is quite relaxing, the surroundings are bland and industrial, being just outside a mall. You'll have to know that they're there. All in all a recommendation for people who like Indian food and especially for people who are looking for delicious vegetarian and vegan food.

Feb 2024 - Unfortunately, our recent experience at the restaurant was disappointing. The chilli paneer lacked flavor, the chicken tikka arrived cold, and the naans were unevenly cooked – some half burnt, others undercooked. This was a stark contrast to our previous positive experiences, highlighting a noticeable decline in food quality. Past review - The restaurant has nice ambiance. The starters are nicely presented, main course dishes have authentic taste. The naan can be improved. And the most important kids get free food (May be sometimes)

Geen ervaring met de indisch/nepalese keuken en ben op de tips van de bediening afgegaan m.b.t. de gerechten.... een gouden keuze. Heb heerlijk gegeten....

Hoofdgerecht prima maar diverse voorgerechten zoals momo niet voorradig. Garlic Naan erg lekker. Drape in glas Chardonnay. En salade zonder dressing hmm, dit iets zou wel wat meer inspiratie mogen misschien iets van een pittige mango dressing, maar zonder zoiets beter achterwege laten.

The food here is okay and it could have been better. Not really authentic Indian food I would say and Price is bit expensive too.

Good food, they have some spicy food if you're into that. Service was good and we had an enjoyable dinner, nice calk atmosphere. Just a hint if you're looking for the toilet its upstairs.

Meer dan een uur op het eten gewacht. Deel van het toetje was er niet meer (ijs was op). Na 22:00 uur werd ongevraagd de rekening voorgelegd ondanks dat we een afsluitende koffie wilden bestellen. Sfeer op bovenverdieping ondermaats met blazende airco in de nek. Geen bediening op de verdieping waardoor we pas konden bestellen zodra er werd bediend bij andere tafels. Geen aanrader.

Het eten was redelijk van smaak. Het dessert voelde als pure oplichting..€8,30 voor nog geen bolletje ijs met een halve droge zoete bal.

Super lekker eten en vriendelijk personeel!

Lekker Indiaas eten bestaande uit diverse schotels, een goede bediening, een goede locatie en goed en vriendelijk personeel. De moeite waard om de diverse indiase gerechten uit te mogen proberen. Verrassend lekker en een frisse schone zaak.

Eten is lekker. Bediening is een beetje vreemd niet snel van begrip spreken ook niet allemaal nederlands. Eten is wel super!

Altijd lekker eten. Uiteraard duurder geworden. Wel moeten ze beter luisteren naar de wensen van klanten. Als er wordt gezegd 'geen lams vlees' doen ze dit er toch bij terwijl er is afgesproken kip bij te doen ipv lams. Dit is vaker voorgekomen nu en wordt vervelend!

Eten was lekker, goed advies gehad, service was uitzonderlijk goed!! Zelfs met 3 kinderen konden wij rustig genieten van het eten. Ook het achtergrond muziek was top. En ook halal ❤️

Went there with a friend and we ordered vegan chicken tikka masala and baingan bhartha with naan and roti. Rice was complementary. We were sitting outside as the weather was nice. It was not that busy on Thursday evening. They close at 10pm. It is located in cityplaza of nieuwegein so the location is nice. Vegan chicken tikka masala and tandoori roti were dope. I can eat these everyday. The total bill was 56 euros which is bit expensive for dining in Nieuwegein. We also ordered Nepalese momos but they are okish. Only 4 pieces for 7,50 euros.

We hebben gisteren heel lekker gegeten bij dit restaurant. We zijn nieuw in Nieuwegein, maar komen hier zeker vaker eten!

Just few minutes from motorway. Chicken Karahi served with rice was mouth watering. Chana masala and butter naan was good. Tandoori was less spicy,good though Biriyani is not recommendable for indian taste buds. Very friendly staff, superior ambience,neat and very clean toilets.
