Brasserie Julia in Wijk 01 Almere Haven

We ended up here by chance. The food was tasty and the portions generous. We will definitely come back for the food. The time between courses was quite long, but that was made up for with a cup of coffee.

Very good food and a cozy atmosphere with a view of the harbor.

A cozy brasserie with a terrace overlooking the harbor basin. We visit here fairly regularly and find it a pity that the menu hardly changes. In terms of presentation, the kitchen could move with the times a bit more: vegetables in the sauce under the meat, causing all the vegetables to absorb the flavor of the sauce.

My son is a cook there, so perhaps not entirely objective. Bread board with dips, salmon salad, etc. very tasty!

For years, we came here every Sunday, among other things for the delicious bouillabaisse. A few weeks ago, there was new staff. After sitting for 20 minutes, we went to ask if something was wrong. That new waiter said: “Oh, I overlooked you.” After so many years and driving 70 km every Sunday, we were completely bewildered. We left immediately and will not be coming back as long as that kid is working as a waiter. A regrettable end to a long-standing pleasure.

Had a delicious lunch, friendly service, beautiful location. Tip: run the menu through a spell checker. “Classics” is spelled with two s’s. (Or maybe there is a reason I’m missing for writing it that way?)

I am a fish man; I have had the fish auction in Den Oever in my backyard since birth, so I know what good fish is. Now I am at my local fishing spot in Almere, and actually, there is truly nowhere to get good fish... except here! After visiting several places, this is the only one that can really prepare a good fish, and that fills me with amazement and admiration. Wonderful atmosphere, excellent service, and that makes it a keeper for me; I will definitely go back to it whenever I am in Almere.

I had a great experience at the Julia Brasserie! I tasted French soup and Dorada. I was amazed by the rich taste of the sause, which came with that fish. The desert was also very delicious!

Nice manager, friendly staff. There was live music to celebrate the royal couple. That is why the facade was open. The food was tasty, the sole and the various burgers. The cheese board was a nice portion after the fish. The fig compote had been replaced by sugar syrup.

Despite explicitly stating that I have a milk allergy, I was still served a dish containing milk—in this case, butter. What a fun birthday this was. An apology was offered, but that doesn't mean much if you get sick afterwards. I have always eaten well at Julia's, but after this incident, you can no longer trust that things will go well again.

Delicious food, comfortable seating, pleasant music

Lovely place, and we had a delicious lunch, with a generous salmon salad as my choice. With coffee, we had a superb platter of friandises to share. We sat in the conservatory, which was heated, and we had a great time chatting.

We can definitely count ourselves as regular customers, but unfortunately, that was over. For weeks/months, the service had been very poor. We went back for lunch, and it was just like old times. Service, by Julia herself, and the quality was good again; my father was in the kitchen. Keep up the good work, you'll see us again regularly😜. Go for the quality😩

A great, unpretentious restaurant at the Almere-Haven harbor. Excellent food, decent menu. The young staff were excellent: friendly, attentive, and professional.

A lovely, informal café-restaurant. We popped in for a cup of coffee. The waitress was attentive and friendly. She was right on time to ask if we needed anything, without being pushy. Comfortable sofas, and the interior is cozy and inviting. Good restrooms are accessible via a staircase.

Unfortunately, I agree with some of Almar van Pel's points. The eel sandwich with country bread was delicious, but we had to saw with the knives. When we asked if there was a sharper knife available, we were met with a rather grim response: "We have many more dull knives!" For our second drink, after a long wait, we had to go inside and look for the waiter. Indeed, they were sitting on the terrace, chatting and smoking together. We didn't expect this at Julia's; customer service and friendliness could definitely use some improvement.

Truly fantastic food! Portions are a bit small for the more discerning eater, but it's so delicious you'll lick your fingers clean!

I've never experienced this before in a restaurant. My girlfriend and I both ordered a hamburger. We each received a small amount of sauce on our plates. One had ketchup and the other mayonnaise. I also wanted mayonnaise and asked for it...the answer was that we should take the small amount of sauce off the plate and put it in the middle to share. We both had about a teaspoon of sauce...really unusual. In addition, the hamburger was very dry, so I wouldn't go back...neither for the food nor for the service.

Unprofessional and unfriendly staff.

Let me start by saying that this brasserie has potential, but it hasn't quite reached its full potential yet. This is partly due to the interior design, but also to the way things are done on the patio. Start at the beginning: bitterballen (bitterballs) and cheese sticks. How dare you serve bitterballen with two micro-bags of mustard? That would mean less dishes... a bad economy. Tip: serve mustard in a bag. The quality was otherwise excellent. No greasy mess, so fresh frying oil. Unfortunately, I was still waiting for the drinks I ordered along with the side dishes. And that brings me to the second point: there seems to be a certain familiarity between the owner/staff and family. The patio seats are occupied by the staff, and let's just call them acquaintances. Staff members enjoy a cigarette. It's the owner's choice, but in my opinion, it's not appropriate. You minimize your profit margin, not to mention all the free drinks you have to give away, the lost revenue, and the damage to your reputation. Furthermore, service, especially on the terrace, should be attentive and cheerful. Neither was immediately apparent. Drink empty, "Would you like to order something else?", "How can I help you?" A smile is free; I should use it more often. Then, on the way to the restroom, there's nothing to dry your hands with. Not for the men, not for the women. On the way there, the management seems to have created a bit of a jumble of childcare options. Okay, okay, if you're going to do it, maybe it's better to set up a general children's area. This is strange and a mess to watch. I don't know, if the owners' pockets are overflowing with money, don't change anything, just carry on as usual. If not, then it's time for some self-reflection. If the staff prioritizes each other over letting me pay the bill...

Friendly service (or are you not allowed to say that anymore?)

Food was good but the bill was completely wrong. I went back for 20.00 but at home on the menu the price difference was 40.00 so people check your receipt carefully I will not eat there again or take a pen and notepad with me this is a shame

June 21st with 4 people ate here. It was hot and busy. Order was taken quickly and the water and wine were served quickly. After waiting for a while the food was brought. 2 people had monkfish with mussels, 1 person the sole and 1 person the pan of mussels. The vegetables/lettuce and potatoes/chips were missing. Asked for this and it would be brought. Just like the 2nd bottle of water that never came. In the end we said that it was no longer needed. We were offered free coffee, but we declined. Neatly settled with a 20% discount on the bill. The (young) staff did their best, management was invisible). No more Julia for us.

The food was good. We had the fish of the day, which was 5/5, and the American burger, which was 3/5. But unfortunately we had a bad experience with the service. When we sat down, the waitress immediately asked what we wanted to drink. We said it depends on what we were going to eat, so we wanted to see the menu first. She said okay. After a long time waiting for the menu, she came back to ask what we wanted to drink (?) and we didn't have a food menu yet. Later, when the food was served, I asked for a bottle of water. As time went by and I still hadn't received it, I asked again. Still the drink wasn't brought. When I asked again, the waitress said she just checked and that my drink (the bottle of water) was being "prepared" and was almost ready. It took 15 minutes to "prepare" a bottle of water. It wasn't brought until I had already finished my dish. We would like to come back for the food, but because of the bad service we won't be back.

Good and fast service, the neighbors could learn something from that (we sat there for more than 15 minutes at an unclean table)

This restaurant deserves a feather. Good cuisine, friendly staff, cozy space in a beautiful spot with a view of the harbor. Excellent food.

Very nice brasserie, delicious steak tartare. Some novice staff, no problem of course, but a bit clumsy, walking past a table empty-handed and taking nothing with them. Our 6-year-old twins were with us, but there was no coloring page or other entertainment available. The steak tartare was very tasty and well prepared at the table. We will definitely come back again.

Food was good (lunch with bouncer and the 12 o'clock meal) but please tell us the correct soup for the dish if asked.

Went with 8 people, absolutely perfect

It was Saturday evening, so there were a lot of people. We waited for our order for almost an hour and a half. Of the cocktails (and there are only 9 types), I was only able to make one, because there were no ingredients for the others. The duck breast was raw, I had to return it to finish cooking.

Delicious food, beautiful dishes on the menu and good preparation. Lots of choice, from lobster to hamburger and carpaccio to oysters. Nice case, looks neat. Service was not very friendly. Not bad, but occasionally we had a waitress who did not have a friendly appearance. For example, pointing to crockery instead of asking if someone could point it out. Was the only downside, and I would definitely come back.

Truly a gem in the Havenkom. Insanely friendly and correct service, down to the last detail. Recommended steak tartare prepared at the table!

The food was delicious. There was one vegetarian main course and I thought that was very little for such a restaurant. Super friendly service, tasty wines and good food. Recommended.

Unfortunately I was very ill because of the food here. The service and atmosphere were great, but food poisoning takes the fun out of it.

We ate delicious game and I thought the two men serving were quick and friendly. Normally (I thought) I don't like game that much, but it exceeded my expectations. The food arrived on heated plates with delicious potatoes and vegetables

Staff is very friendly and helpful. But it wasn't a great experience to see the owner of the place piss drunk talking to his staff and smoking inside right next to customers trying to enjoy their evening.

The service was poor because drinks were spilled twice while serving. No further attention was paid to this other than "sorry". Even though it had fallen over the back of one of our party. The second time there was only some on the table that wanted to be cleared away quickly. A bit of a shame.

It was busy because of the harbor festival so I made a reservation, unfortunately all tables were occupied and we were offered a table inside. We had not agreed on this, so tables and chairs were moved outside. Well arranged. The food was good, as were the drinks and the service was very attentive despite the crowds and took good care of us. In short, after a small incident at the beginning, we had a great afternoon on the terrace.

Had lunch here with a number of former colleagues. Prime location. Friendly staff and we had beautiful weather. Everything just went our way.

Vandaag proberen er te lunchen. Eigenaar zat op terras. Gingen zitten ...niet druk. Werden niet geholpen terwijl het niet druk was. Na 10 minuten weggegaan. Zeker genoeg geld zodat ze gasten niet helpen Ga dan liever naar zosls van ouds die weten hoe gastvrijheid hoort .

We would like to eat here. After we took place one of the waitress told us she is sorry but they are full today. 10 of the tables were free. We said of course it's okay. Why do I post this bad recession? Because we were eating the in the restaurant a door ahead. After 2 hours of the 10 tables there were still 7 empty. So not full. I really felt not welcome

The bitterballen we ordered were sold out. As an alternative, we ordered cheese sticks, which arrived at the table lukewarm. After eating the cheese sticks, the bitterballen still arrived? We sat somewhere else for dinner.

Food is good but the service is really bad. Little service and often grumpy, then look for another job. When co-owner Julia herself is present, the atmosphere is much better. A shame for such a beautiful thing.

Delicious lunch; the hamburger was really tasty and also included for dinner... I had read that it was 200 grams... pff. The one (large/tall) woman serving was very good, clearly experienced and friendly; the other smaller one was quite blunt, put everything wrong and didn't even ask who had what. The boy was super friendly again. But it was wonderful on the covered terrace, everything was full and very cozy. But 1 ladies' toilet is a bit small. The tap was also broken and you couldn't wash your hands; had to go to the men's toilet. Quite difficult.

The location is beautiful, and unfortunately it does not match the experience at this restaurant. The table was cleared for us, but that was no more than removing the glasses and bottles, a visibly dirty table was not cleaned. Ordered lunch dish at twelve o'clock, no question whether I wanted white or brown, then they served it with only white bread. The ham sandwich looked like a cheap piece of baked bread, with pre-packed shoulder ham. The croquette bun was not very fresh, and the croquette also seemed to be of very cheap quality. The soup was just over half full. The cutlery was brought somewhat carelessly later and deposited on the dirty table. I would have served this better and more beautifully at home, I don't come into the catering industry with that feeling, where I expect to receive some quality. The table next to us was served hamburgers that were quite nicely served, so perhaps my expectations of such a twelve-hour lunch for only 12 euros were too high. But if I compare it with a van der Valk, it seems very simple and sparse. Once again a shame, because the location is really great.

Mooie stek aan de haven. Alles verzorgd en netjes. Duurde vrij lang voordat de bestelling werdt opgenomen. Lunch kaart was karig. Iets met kip is tegenwoordig geen overbodige. Eten was prima. Bediening matig. Zijn niet koninklijk. Maar er beetje vlot en netjes. Moet toch te doen zijn.

Bediening bijzonder attent,even parasol opzetten, wilt u vast iets drinken, geweldig gastvrij. Het eten is prima, goede prijs kwaliteit verhouding, en blij verrast toen het eten kwam. Wat een gouden plekje in Almere is het toch………

Pleasantly busy on the terrace, dinner in the beautifully decorated conservatory. The steak tartare (hmm spelled correctly?! 😉) was prepared at the table and was beyond delicious.

Great shop, we like to eat there at lunchtime as part of bike tours.

Wederom bij Julia’s gegeten, kwaliteit is nog steeds hetzelfde als een jaar geleden. Heerlijk gegeten, lekkere groenten bij de gerechten. Voldoende en heerlijke gebakken aardappels. Personeel is erg vriendelijk, voorkomend en professioneel. Er wordt keurig gevraagd wanneer je het volgende gerecht wilt hebben. Communicatie met de gast is heel goed en dat is prettig. Prachtige ruime brasserie met fijne uitstraling. Aanrader in Almere haven.

A really nice brasserie. Tastefully decorated. Service is excellent and the food is very tasty. We could have a nice chat without anyone bothering us or us bothering others. I didn't find prices expensive. Highly recommended

Vriendelijke en attente service. We waren met een groep waarbij het menu al was vastgesteld maar er was een goede variatie in de opties. Ik ging voor de de die goed gevuld was. Het grand dessert was een super verrassing met mini bites ijs, fruit en zoetigheden. Heerlijk! Bedankt voor de goede verzorging!

Enjoyable food, good menu, nice price

A quick stop here for coffee and apple pie. Around 2 p.m., the cook was sitting at a table behind us, finishing off 3 large glasses of beer within fifteen minutes, and smoking a cigarette every 2 minutes behind a small partition right next to us, and just blew the smoke into the place, and then to enter the open kitchen again, the whole place smelled of his foul smoke. Not a recommendation at all, I hope he is not the owner, because this is really styleless. Just imagine, your meal is prepared by a drinking/smoking chef, without washing his hands. Bah! You won't see us there anymore.

Visited Julia again through a group reservation. My opinion is now positive. Service is very friendly and attentive and the kitchen also performs well, but it is a pity that the chef walks around outside the kitchen a lot and gives the impression that he does not feel like it, fortunately in contrast to his brigade. I now dare to visit Brasserie Julia again.

We had a delicious Christmas dinner, it was of very good quality. The wines and drinks have also been chosen with care. It is always a pleasure to eat there, fantastic staff and kitchen. Recommended.
