Brasserie Lolita in Oude Pijp

We were a big group, and although the food was good, the overall experience left us extremely disappointed. The pricing was unreasonable, and what bothered us most was being served items we never requested (a 72 euros bottle of wine when we asked for the 56 euros one!!!) especially multiple bottles of water that came at an absurd cost. In the end, we were charged 50 euros just for water on a €1,200 bill. This is completely unacceptable. I cannot recommend this place to anyone who values fairness and honesty in their dining experience.

Amazing place for good food & atmosphere

To be fair, your restaurant is a lovely, cozy place, and the food is also great. However, we didn't have a pleasant experience with you last weekend... I read this in another review recently and thought it must have been a mistake, but no... This morning I carefully reviewed the reservation process again, and my suspicion from yesterday proved correct. When making a reservation with a deposit, no time slot was available. After paying a deposit of €80 for 4 people, the reservation details suddenly appeared. 1.5 hours to eat. This didn't feel great beforehand, but hey... we had already paid the deposit. Upon arrival yesterday, it immediately felt rushed and unpleasant. The food was delicious, as was the wine, but it's completely inappropriate to have to eat for 1.5 hours with these prices. The most annoying thing for us was that we didn't even get to enjoy a 3-course meal during our dinner! It was suggested that we could have dessert while standing at the bar for two people and then sitting at the bar for two! This isn't right, is it? The four of us paid over €350 for 1.5 hours, and after much insistence, we were given an extra 10 minutes. I find this really rude and will not return for this reason. It feels very underhanded to only communicate this time slot after a reservation has been made; what an annoying way to do it. The day after our dinner, we received an email from the restaurant. "How did you find it at our place?" I shared the above information, hoping to receive a response. Unfortunately, I haven't heard anything back, so there doesn't seem to be any genuine interest in feedback. Again: it could have been a fantastic family evening for the four of us, but this time-consuming process completely ruined it, and now it feels like I paid a fortune for a 1.5-hour "fast-food" contest.

Food was good. However, the service was the worst I experienced in my 4 years in Amsterdam. We had a 2 hour reservation for 10 people. The first sentence from the waiter was „you have 1 hour until the next guest“. Then the a service followed that was not sharp at all, missing orders, many empty glasses. Please do not take reservations if you cannot handle it, otherwise it just ruins the evening

Lots of fantastic little and bigger plates. Really enjoyed the silky potato with bourguignon. Very attentive and helpful staff, too.

I still find it strange that you can't pay cash in some restaurants, but that doesn't change the fact that the food is truly fantastic!!!!

This place is phenomenal. Delicious food and warm staff. Professionally dressed crew in an open kitchen. Was great for that small cozy bozie feeling. Enjoyed a lot and willl be back when in town. If I could make one suggestion to make it more cozier would be some fresh bread and french butter.

Fantastic restaurant, really delicious!!! The star of the menu was the haricots verts and the Madelines. Steak was cooked perfectly. I think you can skip the ravioli and the leeks. Thanks so much to our awesome waiter Melle!!!

We had dinner last Saturday evening. We booked a table from 6:45 PM. I arrived at 6:50 PM, and my date arrived about two minutes later. Almost immediately at the start, when the menu was handed out, and twice during the meal, we were repeatedly made clear—albeit in a friendly and humorous tone—that time was limited and therefore we were in a hurry to eat. We didn't have much time left, and if we wanted anything extra—which I understand, and it's nice—we had to order it as soon as possible (say, after sitting there for 25/30 minutes). However, as guests, you don't let it distract you too much, but we were put under time pressure. Our dishes, a steak and a steak tartare, were served a full 5-8 minutes after ordering. On the one hand, the service was very quick and pleasant, but on the other, it raised questions about whether the food had been prepared "fresh" immediately, or whether (the steak) had been microwaved or heated briefly. Small note: I had asked the waitstaff for a jar of salt, but despite waiting a while (me and my food), it didn't arrive. This combined with the general "hurry/hurry up" feeling. On the other hand, it was busy, and you hope the staff will keep an eye on you when you want something. Just like the small thing about having to chase after my beer, which I didn't know was there. My date and I have never felt so pressured to order quickly, to rush during our meal (while we were actually eating). This turned it into a kind of "marathon/cramming-it-out-of-the-way-of-food experience" instead of a relaxing moment of talking to each other and enjoying the food, drinks, and atmosphere. We were out the door just before 8:15 pm and headed to the pub. The staff were otherwise pleasant, and we had a short, pleasant chat with them at the end. While the service was friendly, objectively speaking, it was very unprofessional and rather rude. Perhaps something went seriously wrong here, whether it was customer service or time management when scheduling a "time slot." Partly because we were told to hurry 30 minutes before the end of the time slot—say, a quarter to 8—while we were still eating and supposedly had 30 minutes left. This isn't McDonald's—in fact, unless they're closing, you're not told multiple times during your meal, and beforehand when ordering, that there's a certain urgency/time pressure. And if something went wrong with the online booking system or whatever, fine, but this was a major disappointment for our dining experience—our first date. And if we ate incredibly slowly, showed up way too late, or ordered too many dishes, which would indicate we were overtime, I would understand. But we finished our meal—even without any notification from the staff—around 8 p.m. And: perhaps this is common practice at Lolita's, and in that case, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for a quiet meal on a Saturday night, for example. Tip for servers: carefully consider the potential impact of giving quick hints and comments before and during the meal that amount to "hurry up." Customer service is 0.0. We ordered 5 items, 2 of them we just couldn’t eat. One ok and one good. Service was good. We got the bill verbally and given the impression the the umbers didn’t match. Ended up going to another place nearby.

It's clearly stated in the reservation and order that someone is allergic to pine nuts. So, if you get a caponata with pine nuts in it, you're left wondering... The food was otherwise good. Furthermore, it's not recommended to eat at the much-too-small round tables. Fortunately, there are also larger tables.

Ate here with a group where 'shared dining' had been reserved. Unfortunately, after intestinal surgery, I can no longer tolerate all foods. I was therefore asked not to include certain ingredients (such as onion, garlic, leek, pepper, heavy cabbage) or to make something separate so that I could also eat it. This resulted in me getting a plate of plain risotto rice and being able to eat it with the dessert. The steak, salad, fish and another dish were all prepared onion and garlic. A very simple dinner. And while this food was you can also prepare it taking into account the limitation in ingredients. Even though it had already been indicated 2 weeks in advance that 1 person could not eat everything. So people with a food restriction, don't go here!

A restaurant with many tables and an open atmosphere. Lots of young people coming for a bite to eat. Service is excellent and so is the food. Don't expect haute cuisine, but a decent bite. The prices are high for what you get, but that applies to Amsterdam in general.

Delicious food and nice atmosphere

Fantastically beautiful French bistro where you are really pampered by the staff. Delicious small dishes that taste surprisingly good. The burger really sets a new standard in a city where there are many burgers. The steak with pepper sauce was also better than we expected. For dessert we had the chocolate mousse and Pavlova, the perfect end to a delicious Sunday lunch.

If youre looking to be treated disrespectful while having good food - voila Lolita got you! We reserved a dinner table for two online and paid the 40 Eur deposit. When arriving the restaurant it was packed, so we were offered two seats at the bar without further comment by the waiter. Only after we asked to have a table as we booked a dinner, we we were told to get a table when some people left. Seeing that people we indeed having their dinner on the bar table, this etablishment seems to believe a bar tcounter suitable for a dinner… well. Before the meal started - starter, main and dessert + a bottle of Margaux - we were offered a table, however: again we were sat in the bar area on a tiny bar table that doesnt even fit two plates. We again had to ask our waiter for a dinner table in the dining area - which seemed to have been free even before but it was not offered to us without a second reminder. At no point we heard any sort of excuse from the waiter for not being able to offer what was booked, rather we felt an arrogant attitude like we should already feel grateful for even being here. We understand that retaurants in AMS need to max out their capacity and also that people may not stick to their time slots, however trying to sell the next guest cheap at the bar and be impolite just because they are not regulars is inacceptable. Barely had such a bad service experience on such a high priced dinner - finally bill 170 EUR for two. The food was good to very good though - 4 out of 5 for the food, 0 out if 5 for the service.

Very expensive for what you get on the plate. Chef doesn't know how to cook a steak correctly. If you ask for "rare" or "medium rare" you will get medium. You have to pay extra for fries. Price/quality unsatisfactory. No wonder there were hardly any guests on a Sunday afternoon...

Cozy restaurant with great service. Unfortunately, the dressing for the starter (leek) was too overpowering, but the main course (the vol au vent) was very tasty. Service was smooth and very friendly. It was a busy Saturday, but everything went well, we had a pleasant evening.

All round fantastic evening at Brasserie Lolita. The food was incredible, we had the steak frites and they were cooked exactly as we wanted. As I am dairy intolerant, I could not have any of the desserts however the chef whipped up something for me which was delicious. The service was really good, super friendly team and very attentive. Definitely recommend!

Brasserie Lolita is a lovely place with fantastic and attentive staff who make excellent wine recommendations. As people over 50, we had to use our phone to read the menu properly, but that did not spoil the taste fun. The leek as a starter is an absolute must. What a real taste sensation that was in addition to a unique experience. Everything was great, although the tables are perhaps a bit close together. But the great service and excellent quality of the food make up for it.

Visited the restaurant after their renovation, and the refreshed ambiance is lovely. During the Christmas holidays, we attended a music bingo night, and it was an absolute blast. The staff was great, the drinks were delicious, and the French cuisine was on point.

Price-quality has been lost a little bit. Delicious wines, but ooo, the starting price is high. We're used to quite a bit, by the way. We were there more than a year ago, we still liked the atmosphere and it remains a nice place. My co fit de canard had a bit of sauerkraut with fennel puree that was way too weak, I think. Minimal dish. You really pay too much for what you get. Sorry, I just had to get it out.

Very nice atmosphere, service but food is not delicious. I ate a fish that was fried in soo much butter it was impossible to swallow. Portions are super small, and served with no esthetics... and at the end you oay a very high bill. Price and quality doesnt match....

The main course is served in a small portion. In addition, all side dishes must be ordered separately. Price-quality ratio is not entirely in good proportion. There was no bottle of rosé in stock. The tables are very close together. Staff has little overview.

Came here for the atmosphere of a fun late night restaurant, left a little disappointed with the whole experience. We waited 15+ min for our table to be ready. Be advised that for larger groups, you will be obliged to pick a 50€ per person menu, with dishes ‘to share’ that are children-sized (5 small dishes per type to share for 14 people). They ‘offer’ bread but then charge you 24 euros for a few slices of sourdough. 75€ per person including drinks for this type of food and service - it’s a bit excessive.

What a mockery! Half a head of lettuce with some parmesan for 16.00, this should represent a Caesar salad. We send this back to the kitchen with the comment that it has no taste. Then selected something else from the menu with poached egg, but unfortunately the eggs ran out at 1:30 PM. To make you laugh!! No one finds it annoying that someone in the group has not eaten anything, and no effort is made to ensure that it is still a successful lunch. Very disappointing!

What a ballsy yuppie place Ridiculously expensive for what you get on your plate Caesar salad is a complete joke. A little lettuce rolled up with a little dressing for 16 euros, which we immediately returned Ordered fries once, calculated twice. Could hardly get rid of an excuse! This was a one-off for us

My partner and I dined at this restaurant early in the week (it wasn’t our first time here, though). We ordered a steak for two, with peppercorn sauce, and medium-rare cooking. Then, we shared a chocolate tart with vanilla ice cream. Everything was delicious, as well as the service, which has been informal, yet on the spot and made us feel welcome and well-treated. Totally recommended!

Very nice cozy setting. The fois gras was amazing. Steak and frites was nice but the fries were a bit too hard. The side of green beans was sooo good. Crème brule was also quite tasty. There are also some vegetarian options that my friends tried.

I was eating here yesterday with my in-laws. We have enjoyed coming here for years. They have renovated the restaurant very nicely and you notice that right away! The service was top notch as usual and the new menu was delicious

I lived in de pijp for 4 years and three was not a day that I passed by Lolita without seeing their busyness. It always full of their customers and the restaurant from outside to seeing inside were beautiful. Somehow I just had not paid visiting until yesterday having dinner with friends. To be honest I didn’t expect to much because a lot of place nowadays in Amsterdam just only looking good but the food is “meh”. However, everything including food, service we experience last evening exceeded my most popular place in Amsterdam. My partners and his friends ordered three courses menu including ceviche tartare, guinea fowl and pistachios and cheery sundae. my friend and I ordered escargot and beef tartare as starters and lamb and steak as main. All the food we had last night was so delicious. The environment, kitchen and restaurant presented by the restaurant were so beautiful as well. Now I understand why Lolita is always busy with customers. I would definitely come back more and more time.

Surprising menu v.d. chief. Refined dishes that are worth the price. The celeriac ointment with the main course and the beurre noise ice cream were particularly delicious! The service was also good and friendly and the cocktails were original and delicious.

Very average, only two vegetarian options and one was out of stock, with no substitute. I asked for my egg on one of the starters to be cooked further and 1st they refused cause the chef won’t eat it like that, which is absurd thing to say as I’m the one who needs to eat the egg not the chef! The chef was touching all the food with hands and wore no gloves and then wiping his hands on his pants - apron - and running his hands through his hair and not washing in between. Overall the experience was def not something I would go back for?

Had a delicious meal with some friends. The steak tartare was very popular with all of us and the main course was a beautiful steak with my favorite pepper sauce. We had a cheese board for dessert. This was nicely explained and the selection was very good! Cocktails afterwards were just a bit too tasty, so we stayed all evening. We will definitely come back!

This is a fantastic spot for cocktails. I highly recommend their unbelievably good espresso martinis! 😊 Also, don’t miss the duck confit, and be sure to try the fish of the day, especially if it’s served with white sauce—then we can talk!

I ate here recently on my short trip to Amsterdam! It has some of the nicest staff in any restaurant I have ever been to! Renee was fantastic. She has a great personality, is very knowledgeable about the menu and overall she is what made my experience worth it. The food is also great which was a plus. Highly recommend anyone here, and I would tell them to ask for her!

Nice location, easily accessible in the heart of Amsterdam (by public transport). The atmosphere is great/cozy and we had a delicious meal with delicious wines. Service is good, fast (almost too fast sometimes).

A pleasant meal and a delicious meal! Bouillabaisse was delicious and the Pavlova was a fresh ending. Service was very attentive and friendly.
