My visit was in January 2024. I want to start by saying the food was wonderful. On a cold day, the warm, flavorful meal was a real highlight. Unfortunately, the entire experience was severely undermined by the unprofessional and discriminatory conduct of one server. Upon entering, we were guided to a table directly by the toilets, even though many other, better tables were available. Throughout our meal, this server systematically ignored us. She would not come to take our order, and even when I tried to signal her, she would pointedly look away. We were forced to wait an unreasonable amount of time for everything. Finally, she never came to collect our payment, forcing us to leave our table to find her and pay. Her behavior felt entirely intentional. I later read other reviews and sadly found that other visitors of Asian reported the exact same treatment, which I suspect may be from the same employee. To be clear, this felt like a serious problem with this specific staff member, not a reflection of the restaurant as a whole or its management. However, this kind of discrimination from any employee is unacceptable. The staff member in question is in serious need of training. It was a vile and upsetting experience, and I hope management addresses this specific personnel issue so others do not have to endure it. Aside from our interaction with her, the restaurant was excellent, which makes the experience all the more disappointing.

After seeing Big Willem's recommendations in his Instagram videos, I finally drove over to this place. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the tuna salad sandwiches, meatballs, and pea soup (a solid 10 out of 10), and the warm meat sandwich was absolutely fantastic! The only downside is that I now have to promise my wife I'll get a sandwich here at least once a month. And that's for a couple from Rotterdam! 😂 The staff were extremely friendly, the atmosphere was great, so I highly recommend it. Until next time. Best, Jan and Patricia

I had such a delicious meal here this afternoon! They have so much more than the standard options. I really appreciate that they're very accommodating to allergies. Everything is freshly prepared, so I could easily order something and have it customized. The girl who helped me was also very helpful. I'm not used to that these days. I'll definitely be back 🥰

Best Dutch sandwich shop in Amsterdam

The sandwiches are delicious, but if you order a baguette called "Big Willem," you get a roll, and they could have called it "Little Willem." The taste was good, though.

The staff here were rude, slow and eventually delivered a pretty weak coffee. Avoid, there are plenty of better coffee shops around the RAI

We were exhibitors at the IBC in the RAI and ordered sandwiches daily. They were neatly packaged and delivered on time by you! The catering for the drinks reception was also fantastic, from herring to bitterbal! Thanks for that!

I go there every year during a very big trade show, if you go early you get your food quickly, but if you go when it’s packed you’ll be surprised how fast it goes. The service it 5 stars, cost is very reasonable, staff is incredible.

This place was great, and the staff made us feel very much at home, they were lovely. And they gave the kids a load of biscuits which kept them happy ha!

I visited De Nieuwe RAI right after PLMA had just ended, so the place was packed and the crowd was pouring in. Despite the rush, the girl who took my order was incredibly kind, calm, and professional – truly impressive given the pressure she was under. I ordered the 'Spicy Mike' burger and it was an absolute delight – the meat was juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. One of the best burgers I’ve had in a while! I would definitely come back again – both for the food and the great service.

We just wanted to eat near our hotel before going to the airport but we didn't know we made the wrong decision to eat at this burger place. We ordered our burgers right away after we got our table but after that the whole fun began. There were max. 7 people in the restaurant with us and they all allready had their food and drinks but we waited 40 min until we got our food because they forgot to bring it to our table. The vegan burger of my friend was as cold as ice so he couldn't even eat it anymore. The meat in the burgers had a questionable taste and the weird sauce in it ruined it even more. Also the fries included with every burger order tasted so bad. We had such a bad experience in that restaurant that we all think it's rudiculous to pay 110 € for something they call food. We just warn everyone to please not go there if you don't want to have the same experience as us.

Too expensive for the portions... The taste is okay to good. But the price is a bit high for the size. €10 for a (small) baguette, well... I wouldn't recommend it; the price is simply too high...

A beautiful place. It's across from the Rai conference center. Luckily, there wasn't an event going on, so I was quickly helped by the friendly staff. The wall is adorned with lovely photos of Dutch celebrities, and I suspect the owners of the establishment. I haven't been among them myself yet. Perhaps I'll visit again, or not. I enjoyed the judo juice and the tenderloin steak with fries and salad. And the price was reasonable. The place also has a spacious terrace. I left the Nieuwe Rai sandwich shop feeling satisfied!

Low quality meats most of them with a small skin due to aging. Not really clean an hygienic place. Sandwiches are priced above average and quality below average in Amsterdam.

Don’t go if you’re not dutch. Prices change if they think you’re not local. Everytime i go there it’s a different price for the same item. Excuses have been: we now bill more for vegetarian options as they’re more expensive (even if you’re taking out ingredients) or we’ve just started charging separately for the bread…in a sandwich). Egg and cheese is now up to 8 euros Apparentely.

Cozy and authentic Dutch restaurant serving fresh and tasty dishes, sandwiches, omelets, etc. The fries are really good, the prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. Service is friendly, and the interior is nicely decorated. All in all, it is a highly recommended place. There are indoors and outdoor sitting possibilities.

So here I am after waiting 40 minutes for a chicken burger. No burger seen, and no chicken either. Asked the staff a few times. "Yes sir, I'll be right there, 5 more minutes". Those 5 minutes never went by. The place wasn't busy. Oh well, they can sell the chicken burger to someone else. They might get it faster.

We had breakfast on 25 April 2025. The food was disastrous. The baguette in which the hotdogs was served split and the 'Ham and cheese tosti' did not have any ham. Even after informing the owner, he just shrugged! At Euro 24 for the meal .. quite expensive. Maybe made for locals only.

Last Friday I quickly got something at the sandwich shop De Nieuwe Rai. Hot chicken sandwich was really tasty, nice and spicy and fresh. Also tried a smoothie (Paradise) fresh and just what I needed. What made it extra fun was the short conversation with a friendly, older blonde employee. She asked if everything was okay and made genuine contact. You notice that she has experience and works with attention. Such a person gives a business just a little more character. I will definitely come back again, this time with friends. Afgelopen vrijdag even snel wat gehaald bij de broodjeszaak De Nieuwe Rai. Broodje hete kip was echt goed op smaak, lekker pittig en vers. Ook een smoothie geprobeerd (Paradise) fris en precies wat ik nodig had. Wat het extra leuk maakte, was het korte gesprekje met een vriendelijke, oudere blonde medewerkster. Ze vroeg of alles naar wens was en maakte oprecht contact. Je merkt dat ze ervaring heeft en met aandacht werkt. Zo iemand geeft een zaak net wat meer karakter. Ik kom zeker nog eens terug, dit keer met vrienden. Bezocht op 11 April

Disappointed today. Sometimes it is absolutely great and, like today, mediocre. I think they were out of white rolls, the menu says white soft roll with pickled meat and honey sauce, it was brown, as was the croquette roll. Sandwiches were otherwise fine. Unfortunately the fries had way too much salt sprinkled on them, but really too much. Too bad because the fries are normally really tasty and are now ruined by the salt. My steak salad was a mockery, the steak pieces were ok but the bowl mainly consisted of iceberg lettuce, some arugula, cold tomato slices and cucumber strips, the whole thing was really drowned by the sour dressing. I estimate that there was 1/2 deciliter of dressing on it, I forget that the beans were really limp from the sauce. I ate the meat but left the rest, unimaginative and unappetizing and still € 18.50. Will ignore it again in the near future. I did report it to the employee behind the counter that I didn't like the salad and why.

Awesome deli near the RAI that had many affordable yet also delicious sandwich options with fresh juices/smoothies. They also have a burger menu and other dishes, though I didn't try them. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Lots of photos of what I believe are local celebrities inside the store along every wall. The club sandwiches in particular are very sizable portion wise and I'd really recommend those for a filling meal.

Located just across street, near Amsterdam rai liked the vibe of the place, it gave a retro deli type vibe Since I had gone when there was comparatively less rush, service was fast and the servers were very kind The sandwich was excellent for the price, so filling hot and fresh. Didn't expect so much for the price in the bustling area of Amsterdam zuid Everyone Visiting Amsterdam rai for event, I recommend you to visit this sandwich place and try it out, maybe skip the stalls inside if possible

Sandwich shop Nieuwe RAI - Disappointing experience I had high expectations for Broodjeszaak Nieuwe RAI, but unfortunately my visit was a big disappointment. I ordered three portions of fries, one without sauce and two with satay sauce. I thought the price of €20 for this order was already on the high side, but the portions I received were ridiculously small for that money. As if that wasn't enough, the fries were also over fried. It was hard and dry, and certainly not tasty. In addition, the fries were served on a plate without cutlery or napkins, which made the experience even more unpleasant. I am honestly disappointed with the quality of the food and the price I paid for it. I feel like I've been scammed. I would not recommend this sandwich shop to others. Another negative was that there were no clear plant-based alternatives on the menu. This made it difficult for me, as someone who eats a plant-based diet, to find a suitable meal. In short, my experience at Broodjeszaak Nieuwe RAI was very negative. I advise everyone not to eat here unless you want to pay way too much for bad fries.

Huge amount of different options on the menu with fresh meat or vegetarian options. Fresh orange juice and good coffee. Both our baguettes were delicious, richly filled and I think it might have been the best tosti hawai I ever had. The prices were fair enough for what you get. We will definitely eat there again.

We were the only brown people in the place. We sat down. None of the many staff acknowledged us. Two people sat down at the table beside us and were immediately served. We had to flag down three different staff to finally have our order taken. To me, being a Canadian, it felt racist to be honest. And seeing other people of Asian decent leave negative reviews confirms my gut feeling that they are racist against Asian people. I made the best of it as I was having lunch with a family member, but I would never return. I'm sure there are many better places on the same block to patronize.

On the first day, by chance, we spent an hour late for lunch and we didn't regret it. For the well-cooked food, the friendliness of the staff and the peaceful atmosphere. The next day we did it again, this time breakfast. Once again very well received, attended to and satisfied.

Very welcoming atmosphere, with super friendly service. We had lunch on the 22nd of this month and chose the terrace as the temperature was very pleasant. As we liked it, we went back the next day, this time for breakfast. Very tasty food. Congratulations.

Tasty sandwiches. But keep an eye on the bill. A large bottle of Spa had arrived that we had never ordered. When I pointed this out to the ladies in question, she came back with coins, which was only 1/2 of the overcharged amount. I simply didn't feel like nor had the time to point this out to her again.

During the five minutes we were there trying to place our order, we were ignored by two staff members, even though it wasn't busy. That is why we LEFT. Regrettably, I will not be returning to your establishment due to this discriminatory experience. For other potential customers reading this, I would recommend avoiding this place. POSTED ON: 22 JULY 2024 Four of us sat down and requested the menu. The waiter promptly brought it over and immediately asked for our drink orders before we had a chance to look at it. Shortly after, a lady approached us and instructed us to "put our drinks away," in a very rude manner even though we weren't drinking, and asked for our drink orders again. We requested five more minutes. When we were ready to order, we tried to get the attention of two staff members but were ignored. Feeling discriminated against, we decided to leave.

Racist establishment. Avoid at all cost. Asked if we were buying drinks just as we sat down then came over after 1 minute to ask if we were buying drinks again. When we wanted to order both staff just ignored us and made us wait for almost 20minutes.

SUPER BAD SERVICE took at least 30 minutes for them to even get us water and we had to remind them multiple times. then realised the young lady didn’t even take our order HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED, was not worth AT ALL

We went to have some sandwiches for breakfast, they were very good and the place was very nice and cozy.

I highly recommend. If you are foreigners, the establishment speaks good English (cards also in English) so there should be no communication problems.

Great food. We enjoyed the club sandwiches and the atmosphere. Service could improve. They seem to have two locals with a shared kitchen and staff were running around fulfilling orders for both, which left us waiting more than 15-20 minutes to order food stood in front of the till area (by the food display fridge) with very little to no acknowledgement we will be served soon (if they would have said to us that they will be with us as soon as possible, I think, would have improved our initial interaction). Once we ordered, the food came fast (within 10 min). One member of staff, who collected our plates was so polite and nice to us. We will definitely will be going back!

Found this small cafe opposite the RAI conference centre. Nice place for breakfast. Great food and excellent service! The ladies at the counter were very friendly and recommended authentic Dutch baguette that was excellent! Price was very reasonable, highly recommended!

The Food and Service was great. We ordered American Breakfast, Salmon, Cream cheese Tostis’s. The owers even very accomodating. The Venue is very Homie…. The smell of great food surrounds the place. Its a very highly reccomendable place to have breakfast. We will he back for lunch later. 😋
