Lovely relaxed atmosphere, had a delicious lunch

A cozy restaurant with friendly service. The lunch platter is highly recommended, very tasty.

We happened upon this cafe on our way from the parking lot to the city center and were glad we decided to stop by spontaneously. Brownies & Downies is a cozy, cozy place with very friendly service. The prices at this cafe are unbeatable and almost too reasonable for the high-quality products. Everything was delicious. The decor offered something new with every glance. We will always be on the lookout for Brownies & Downies on future visits to the Netherlands.

Simply amazing. How ordinary people genuinely ask if it tastes good. You can feel the engagement. I love it.

We had lunch at B&D on July 16th. We were greeted warmly and escorted to our reserved table. The service was spontaneous and efficient, and wonderfully welcoming. Where did the waitress tell us she'd just returned from a vacation on a Spanish Canary Island? It's an interaction we truly appreciate. The food was delicious and well-prepared. The restaurant is also nicely decorated. In short, nothing but praise for everything.

This place is definitely recommended. Extremely friendly and competent staff. Beautiful facilities. Delicious food and drinks. A great play area for the kids.

What a lovely place! Staff very friendly, everything runs smoothly. Food was great. Good price/quality ratio. We had asked for some strawberries and whipped cream with the mini pancakes for the children, this was no problem. We even got bacon and chocolate spread! The children were very enthusiastic. Too bad it is a bit too far for us from Utrecht to come here regularly, otherwise we would definitely come here much more often! Thank you for the delicious lunch and warm welcome. 😊

Although I am less charmed by the name of Brownies & Downies, I think the concept of employing people with a distance to the labor market as staff in a restaurant is very good. The waitress who took the order did her job very well and knew which gluten-free options were available. The dishes were beautifully presented and tasted delicious. The restaurant in Alkmaar is cozy with different types of seats.

We love this place! The staff is amazing ..always available and attentive. They have 2 kids corners that are well maintained and kept. The atmosphere is super nice. They also have Gluten Free Bread.

Price/quality not in proportion. On request, point for improvement: take a closer look at lunch tasting, because you charge too much money for it in relation to what you serve. I also let you know at checkout. So this shouldn't be anything new.

Enjoyed a delicious Lunch today with daughter and grandson, it was really great! The store is very nicely decorated, and there are plenty of toys for my 3-year-old grandson. Service was excellent, tea also nice with those cups of good loose tea. Brought some Brownies for home in the evening, they were also delicious! We will definitely come back here!

We eat here often and usually enjoy the lunch platter, so we ordered it again today. At first something went wrong with the order, so after 20 minutes we had someone come to our table; "Why don't you have anything yet?" She went after us. We thought it was very cute! After 40 minutes we received the lunch platter, but our allergy requests had not been taken into account, so half had to be taken back and we waited another fifteen minutes for the rest of the platter. The bread on the board was very thickly sliced ​​and very dry; in combination with the meager containers of toppings, we couldn't do much with it this time. Once more; certainly not what we are used to, because we come more often and normally enjoy it immensely. We're sorry that things turned out a little differently today.

Yesterday we celebrated my sister's baby shower at Brownies & Downies Alkmaar. What great service. It all looked beautiful and cozy. We could take our own decorations home again because everything was taken care of. We enjoyed it immensely!

What an amazing concept. There are more than fifty restaurants in this chain all over the Netherlands employing people with Down syndrome. We were very happy to try it. The food and service were excellent and the restaurant is very nicely decorated.

Went there for a bday party on Sunday. We had the whole place for ourselves. Happy with the bills, consider the service, quantity and quality. I think (personnally) it's a good deal. We loved the fire place in the room..the foods and services were wonderful...

The atmosphere is very nice, casual and very nice and funny decorated. High tea was disappointing, but that's what you expect I guess. Toilet was filthy with feces on the back of the seat. I think it is a requirement for your customers that toilets are clean and hygienic. This means that it needs to be checked and cleaned several times. Unfortunately not worth repeating for me. But this is just my opinion. People have to experience for themselves what they think of it. Furthermore, we had to wait a very long time for the last round of high tea. We asked if the high tea was ready or if there was anything else to come. It was not clear to us how many rounds. We have previously had high tea at Talent Moment in Heerhugowaard. There it is a lot clearer what you can expect because they explain things at the table. The savory part was quickly brought in because it had been forgotten. I think they forgot about us a bit because the people in charge were chatting with other people.

My husband and I were guests at Brownies & Downies in Alkmaar today. What can I say? We were absolutely thrilled! We received a very friendly welcome and were served by a very nice young lady in a wheelchair with the help of a voice computer. She brought us the coffee and brownies on a tray on the shelf of her wheelchair. The coffee and brownies were delicious. She even came again and asked if everything was okay with us and if we would like anything else. The prices, the service and the look of the store are simply great. It's a shame that we don't yet offer coffee like this for people with disabilities in Germany. We loved it and will always go back to Brownies & Downies in the Netherlands. Lunch café in a national monument or old coal shed in Alkmaar. Had a delicious croquette sandwich with a beautifully presented cup of coffee. Sympathetic service. Striking leadership. With passion and loving attention for the special staff. Visited this beautiful location a little too late. Should have done this 6 years ago.

Nice concept and very attractive and warmly decorated space. Although several people saw me come in, after 15 minutes still no order was taken... even though it was not busy on a Tuesday afternoon. The coffee is okay in terms of taste, but unfortunately the foam of the cappuccino was not. The small piece of brownie, the whipped cream and the glass of water are a nice/nice extra with the coffee.

Had 2 delicious coffees at 9am this morning before opening time. Reason: had already been there for 2 hours and were craving coffee. Very understanding lady understood this and her wish was granted. Great service! Great ladies!

Excellent coffee with a glass of water as a courtesy, and a small piece of cake in whipped cream. Nice service. The brie sandwich was only covered in one slice, the other was unfortunately completely empty, making it difficult to eat. Lots of nuts in the lettuce, delicious!

There would be almost nothing to complain about. Beautiful concept. I would give 10 stars for that. Delicious food. Cappuccino was very small. There is a play corner. But I'm still very disappointed about it. Such a beautiful tent, and the play area is disastrous. Sticky plastic mess. Lots of broken toys. Batteries empty. Cabinet too high. If a small child grabs something it is very dangerous. Especially when sitting on top of two large bins full of even more junk. There is a nice play kitchen. Unfortunately also full of junk. And a rocking horse, which is beautiful, stands all the way in the corner behind the gang and can rock.... very unfortunate. Even though she entertained my son very well, if I were you, I would check all the toys for safety and your better appearance. Less is more🤗 see you next time anyway!
