During a stop on our river cruise We had an absolutely fantastic meal in the town in the Netherlands! We ate local lobster from the Scheldt River, the best we've ever had. We heard nothing but praise from other tables. Our recommendation: head to Bruinesse!

The food was fantastic and it was pleasantly busy. We did have to make a reservation due to the crowds.

The restaurant is beautifully situated right on the water. The staff was very attentive and friendly. It would be nice if the menu were also offered in English or German, as foreign guests are not uncommon here. While the waitstaff tried their best to help, they were also unable to overcome the language barrier themselves. After activating our translator app, we were able to choose from a wide selection of seafood. The service was a bit slow (even though there weren't many guests), but the food took an extremely long time. We were almost starving! ;-) However, we were rewarded because the food tasted wonderful. Unfortunately, on a second visit, we couldn't determine if the service was just slow that day, as we weren't given a table without a reservation... a shame. Even an hour and a half later, when we drove by again, the outdoor seating area was still almost empty.

What a terrible experience this was. We used to go often with my parents; my father always thought this was a lovely place. To reminisce about him, we made a reservation for 5:00 PM together with my mother and brother. We sat outside with the dog, and just when things started well, they went downhill very quickly. After waiting for an hour, we had to ask ourselves where our food was; we were told there was a miscommunication, it would arrive soon, and we were given a free drink. When we finally received the food, we had to ask for the ‘free’ drinks ourselves, which turned out to be on the bill after all. The food was substandard as well. I felt sick from the mussels and even sicker from how we were treated. My brother's pasta was cold, and my mother's clams didn't taste good anymore after waiting so long and receiving such treatment. I really have no words for it; I have never been treated so badly by staff. I would absolutely not recommend it, and we will certainly never return.

Unfriendly staff, said they were closed but reservations were still being accepted everywhere.

Truly a terrible experience. First we waited an hour for the food, then they said we would get 3 drinks. Then we waited another 15 minutes and after that it was just on the bill. Then we went back and she said that one person would get a cup of coffee, even though we were in the middle of dinner!! If you look normal, you get treated very badly; definitely not recommended for a nice dinner.

A nice place to spend time. Recommended to make a reservation because it filled up quickly at opening time. Beautiful terrace with shade and nice plants on the tables. Polite service and quality of fish products. The shrimp croquettes were square in shape but unfortunately not to my taste, less creamy. There was also no butter with the bread roll. Had lunch yesterday with a group of foreign colleagues. Lovely atmosphere, ate the best oysters and lobster ever. 100% recommended!

Food was nice but service terribly slow. We were sat down but pretty much ignored - after 20mins we still weren’t seen and offered menus. The place was not busy with at least 8 empty tables on the terrace and most people were done eating when we arrived. We therefore grabbed some menus ourselves in the end which signalled the order taking! Food was nice when it (ultimately) arrived.

It was simply "a dream come true".

Starters were good, main courses too, except for the mussels, which were downright awful, small, meager, and overcooked. The atmosphere gets a two-star rating. We were seated a bit too close to the exit, apparently with cold legs. A shame.

The quality of the mussels is subpar, as is the service in the shop. Lots of sand and bad mussels. Next time, I'll drive to Yerseke; the quality is always good there! Disappointed.

You just get good fish and fresh, that's the most important thing

They had calamari rings here, which were of course very fresh and incredibly delicious. We'll definitely come back.

The restaurant is nicely and comfortably furnished. It has a pleasant atmosphere, with a fireplace and some tables overlooking the Greveninger Meer lake. The service is good, and the staff are very friendly. The oysters are fresh from the tank, and there's a generally good selection of fish dishes. The side dishes could be a bit more varied. The interior feels more upscale than the exterior. There's a small fish snack bar next door if you just want a quick bite.

Typical food in Holland - kibbeling; everything is simple, but very tasty and fresh. But it should be clear that fish, even as "fast food," is not a cheap meal.

Simply amased by the place. Been there a couple of years ago for the first time and keep returning to the restaurant enytime I'm in vicinity. Ambient is amasing, sipping wine in front of open fire is just a cherry on the top of the cake. Food is delicious, staff nice and kind. I'll be be back 🥂

We received a friendly welcome from the host, who escorted us to our table. We were served quickly and didn't have to wait long between our visits. The food was delicious; we'd love to come back!

We spontaneously stopped by Bru 17 today for dinner and brought our dog with us. We sat outside at first because the sun was shining and enjoyed a beer, but the beer wasn't served to the fullest, which actually annoyed me, considering it cost €7.50 for a 0.5 (no-name) beer. The dusty table wasn't wiped down (I've mentioned this several times), but I wasn't impressed and still ordered an adult's plate and a children's meal for a lot of money. It eventually got chilly, and we went inside. The dog wasn't allowed inside—those are the rules, and it was acceptable; he waited outside. The food took a really long time and was unfortunately just OK. Taste-wise, it was awful. I carried my drinks from outside to inside myself and then had to wait for a table for two to be cleared, even though there weren't many people in the place at 5:00 PM. The ambiance inside is incredibly beautiful and classy. The tanks of fresh seafood impressed me, but I didn't order anything from them. I felt like asking questions about it was too much, as I actually had to translate the menu into German with Chatti, who was more helpful than the service staff. Like many German guests, I also had the feeling that we weren't welcome. The baked cod from the children's menu turned out to be fried cod. That was a huge difference, of course. 😤 Children's plate €14.50. I wouldn't recommend it. I paid over €60 for dinner, which was really so-so. It's a shame, because the ambiance is beautiful.

Lovely location on the water among the fishing boats. We ordered kibbeling (fried fish) here and can only give it a solid 10!!! 🥇 Not a lot of batter, but plenty of fish, just the way it should be. After ordering, you get a transmitter that beeps when your order is ready, so it's super fresh. You can sit here and enjoy the beautiful view 🤩

Opening hours are incorrect. We arrived at 6:00 PM and it was closed. The restaurant was open but full.

First of all: the food was excellent. Fresh, flavorful oysters, a well-seared flounder, mussels in a fennel and tarragon broth, lovely desserts, and a fruity Sancerre. The modern, and therefore easily misleading, restaurant, hidden behind a wooden shack facade, is attractively decorated. It's a pleasant place to sit. But I doubt they even want me, a tourist, as a guest. The menu is only available in Dutch, and not all of the many waiters are able to translate its contents into English or even German. The seven uniformed service staff were mostly busy walking past us empty-handed, ignoring us. In the uncrowded dining room, it took over 20 minutes for us to receive a menu, and a small eternity before anyone was willing to let us order. Despite the excellent food, we won't be coming back.

The outside is the complete opposite of what you'll find inside. It's nicely decorated with tables for two and five people, and a cozy bar. Perfect for a drink or a delicious mussel evening.

A nice restaurant with good food and fair prices. We went there without a reservation and still got a table, even though it was a weekend and very busy. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Only the price is very high compared to other restaurants

We drove an hour out of the way. Because we used to eat here when we were on vacation. What can I say? We should have left it alone. The portion of kibbeling was in the fryer for far too long, so it was inedible. The fish was completely dry and the breading was far too hard. The fries were in the fryer far too short, so they were still cold inside. The bottom line from this trip: we'll steer clear of this restaurant and won't be going back. It was too expensive for the hustle and bustle.

Only received one set of sides for two main courses and was gaslighted when we asked about it in a friendly way. Were charged for tap water despite explicitly asking for tap (in addition to other drinks we ordered). Sides and sauces for the mains came out a good five minutes after the main courses themselves. Moules were good but nothing exceptional; I was told the fish was excellent.

This is a seafood restaurant next to the beach. My family of three happened to be playing at the beach nearby, so we passed by and decided to try our luck. There is a parking lot right at the door, and reservations are required for the restaurant. Although we didn't make a reservation and there was a full house sign at the door, we tried to ask, and the waiter still helped us arrange a seat, which was very nice. The taste of the dishes was very good overall. The only thing I could find fault with was that the mussels were a bit fat and greasy. The shells on the seafood noodles were more delicious. The cod rice was very good, nothing to complain about. Overall, it is highly recommended. Next to it is their own seafood market, which sells all kinds of seafood, and it seems they also have fried fish nuggets, which look delicious! It's a pity that I didn't see any place to order in the restaurant, so I may have to buy it at the seafood store. I have a goal for next time.

On Saturday, I went to Bruinisse especially for Bru 17. Unfortunately, the terrace was full, so booking in advance is recommended. So, I ordered a portion of kibbeling (fried fish) with a glass of sparkling water for takeout. The kibbeling is truly delicious, and the view of the harbor is lovely too. Great fishmonger!

BRU 17 is located directly on the picturesque harbor of Bruinisse, with ample (free) parking right outside. The restaurant recently expanded with the addition of the characteristic wooden sheds behind the original building, providing even more space for larger groups. Outside, there's a spacious terrace overlooking the harbor. Inside, the restaurant is spacious, with several inviting seating areas. On the right, you'll find a long bar and a partially open kitchen. As you walk further back, you'll pass the lobster tanks, after which you'll enter a high-ceilinged room with large tables, perfect for groups. A larger group enjoyed a wide selection of appetizers, including an oyster platter with three types of oysters: Scheldt, Irish Umami, and gratinated creuses. Other starters included calamari with homemade aioli, sea bass ceviche with mango curry and avocado cream, razor clams and turbot shells in a light cream sauce, and of course, pain de mer with tapenade and butter. The highlight of the afternoon was the Oosterschelde lobster, which was first presented at the table and then served in two versions – both excellently prepared and richly flavorful. The service was young, friendly, and welcoming, attentive to the guests. The only minor drawback was that the requested Weißburgunder was unavailable or not at the right temperature, so a Picpoul de Pinet from 2022 was substituted – a vintage that had lost some of its fresh character. Besides the restaurant, there is also a fishmonger where you can take home a selection of the day's fresh fish. All in all, BRU 17 is highly recommended for fish and shellfish lovers, with a beautiful location and a well-thought-out menu.

It's a regular stop for us, because BRU17 serves truly excellent food. Recently renovated, it looks beautiful, but we also found the old restaurant quite charming. Because it looked less polished, the excellent food actually added to its charm. But don't worry, we'll keep coming back.

Last Saturday, August 16th, I ate here for the second week in a row. I can say it wasn't delicious, but it was absolutely delicious. The Fruit du Mer appetizer was wonderful, as were our main courses. The service was excellent. This restaurant is highly recommended.

The mussels were very blandly cooked. They barely tasted like mussels themselves. Why always three sauces?

We were lucky to get a table just before 12:00. The restaurant filled up really fast. The food was fantastic but the service a little unattentive. The veiw and inner decor is so tasteful, done in all the tones of the beach and sea. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The food was fantastic. I hadn't been here in a while, but I went back on someone's recommendation. What amazingly fresh oysters, and a delicious wild sea bass. The service was super friendly and courteous. A real 10 from me. Many restaurants can't compete with each other. We'll be back in a few days.

A very cozy and beautiful restaurant. A very atmospheric setting, delicious food, and friendly staff. Our family and I thoroughly enjoyed the delicious kibbeling (fried fish) and, of course, a herring. So far, the best in all of Zeeland, and we've eaten there a lot this week! Highly recommended! You can also sit outside. And there's plenty of parking. We will definitely be back 👍🏻

The kibbeling menu is world-class. All the other seafood ingredients are also said to be excellent. Reservations for the restaurant are required.

My wife and I took a lovely motorcycle ride to Bruinisse. We looked for a restaurant for lunch beforehand and ended up at Bru 17. It's a beautiful spot by the water and has a lovely terrace with friendly staff. I had fish soup and sole as a starter, and my wife had three types of fish (Delta menu). I'm giving the food three stars because when I got home, I realized I'd eaten something wrong!!, probably the fish soup 🤔.

This was truly delicious! We enjoyed three appetizers for lunch: stir-fried mussels, shrimp croquettes on bread with salad, and a delicious fish soup. I was so surprised by the freshness. I literally scooped up all the sauce with bread and licked my fingers clean—so delicious! Absolutely recommended. 🐟🍤🍲

I'd been here before the renovation. The atmosphere hasn't diminished since. Despite the expansion, the cozy feel has been retained. The menu has been updated/expanded to include mocktails and cocktails. There's also a wider selection of vegetarian dishes. Flip's tip: make a reservation in advance – which is easy to do online. Reservations can get quite full.

We've been vacationing here for the past three years and have eaten there several times. It's always delicious and highly recommended. They're very child-friendly, but you have to make a reservation in advance.

We ended up here on the recommendation of a local host. It's a lovely place right next to the quay where the fishing boats are moored. It couldn't be fresher. We had a delicious meal (two large sole (they showed us the price beforehand, the best sole ever, by the way), and four glasses of rosé for €115). Really friendly and professional service, a fantastic experience! It's on our list of "make a detour to come back here."

If you want to enjoy delicious fish (especially kibbeling) on the Goeree-Overflakkee peninsula, this is the place to go. Located right on the harbor in Bruinisse, with ample parking and short wait times. We were completely satisfied and went there three times in a short period of time 😁 Absolutely recommend! 🐟🦐

BRU17 is a must-visit for us on every visit to Bruinisse. The absolutely stylish ambiance, the outstanding service, and the fantastic food are unique. Dinner at BRU17 is like a little vacation from everyday life.

Good restaurant, welcoming staff, and a great atmosphere. It's a shame the tables were so close together that the staff couldn't walk past them. We had to handle and pass a lot of food for eight people!

Today, July 22, 2025, due to personal circumstances, we dined with you for the first time in a long time. What quality and service at an affordable price... it was incredibly enjoyable! My husband enjoyed the traditional mussels, and the Delta platter was a delicious gift. We will definitely make the trip from Breda to Bruinisse again... we rarely experience this quality... and on top of that, the friendliness of the staff... hats off! It was a treat... respect for the entire organization!

Nice restaurant, delicious food. The service was a bit chaotic, but the enthusiasm and the location more than made up for it. I didn't think the mussels a la Bru were an improvement over the traditional recipe, but they were fresh, well-cooked, and the portions were ample. A side dish came with a salad and fries, which were delicious.

Cozy spot in a fishing harbor. Warm welcome, family atmosphere, and excellent value for money. Definitely order a plate of clams to share as a starter—highly recommended!
