You can eat the most delicious mussels in the Netherlands here. Friendly and spontaneous service and a cozy atmosphere. We sat outside, but the interior is also really beautiful and cozy. Highly recommended!! Reserve in advance to avoid disappointment.

What a beautiful place this is! The mussels were excellent! Just one minor point: the panna cotta is not what you expect. It wasn't set and there was some cake(?) in the middle.

Had a delicious meal at Brui 17. Except that… During lunch, we were regularly treated to a loud beeping concert coming from the takeaway section. They use one of those devices that starts beeping as soon as an order is ready. Handy for takeaway orders, but a bit less so for peace and quiet during your lunch. We heard several people complain about this. Tip: I would turn the sound off and only use the vibration function and 😉 Otherwise, absolutely no complaints: the food was tasty and the service was great!

Mixed feelings; I’ve been there several times with my wife and once a year with my sister, and it’s always fine! I told my friends that we really need to go eat some tasty fish there sometime. We arrived with 7 guys on motorbikes, and we were refused entry!! We left severely disappointed. We thought it was a strange way of doing things.

I have been to 60 plus countries and this restaurant is one of the best fish restaurants I have been to.

Simply top-notch! Everything you expect from a seafood restaurant. Definitely worth the price. All products are high quality and perfectly seasoned. Fast and super friendly service. The staff knows their job. Every time they came to the table, they immediately took away the empty glasses and cleared the table. That's really nice. They also ask if they need to wait a little while before bringing the next course. The staff are in good spirits and provide clear explanations. The venue is very beautiful and stylish, as well as very spacious and clean. We paid €279 for a starter, main course, dessert, and a bottle of wine for 3 people. We ate the seafood platter to share as a starter between the three of us; because we are light eaters, it is really perfect for 2 people.

Excellent fish without any fuss. The best turbot I know, and the oysters are farmed a stone's throw away. They also have better wines. It is always very busy there, so reservations are a must. Otherwise, eat at the fish shop next door. That's good too, but then you sit outside on a bench.

What a cozy restaurant, and so beautifully situated by the water. Add to that friendly staff and the delicious fried eel you get to eat without having to wait long for, what more could you ask for? Classy Bru 17!

I count all my calories and found this restaurant via an app that photographs my food. The calamari rings fit perfectly into my day and contain enough protein. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the service was quick.

Quite expensive and takes quite a long time, I must say. The atmosphere was mediocre and the staff wasn't really friendly.

Where it used to be great, it has gone downhill significantly; in terms of both quality and service, it is no longer what it used to be. And whether we eat at the restaurant or get takeout, it was a disappointment every time this year.

The location is very nice. Unfortunately, the portions were a bit small. We waited about an hour for our food... and one person got the wrong thing. The food was delicious and the service was very friendly! Prices are reasonable.

No complaints about the location or the staff, but unfortunately I do have complaints about the food, and that is what I came for. I had 3 oysters and a fish soup; 2 of the oysters contained flakes, one of which was 1 cm². That is a bit too much for me and a sign of sloppy work. Totally unnecessary. The fish soup, well, what can I say about that? I think the owner would agree with me when I say that a fish soup should taste like fish. This one tastes like cream. I am really curious why you swapped your amazing recipe from 11 years ago for this one. If you use parsley, just remove the stems. And if you put razor clams in, soak them in salt water overnight so all the sand is gone. I paid almost €35 for this, including wine, so I really should be able to expect these kinds of basic skills (because that is what these are) to be up to par. It is a good thing you have good herring, otherwise you wouldn't see me back at all.

Hello, I stopped here today during my bike tour and had some delicious kibbeling. The cod was well-seasoned and perfectly cooked. The garlic sauce was also very tasty. The fish counter looks very appealing. The staff are friendly, and you have a nice view of the boats waiting to go through the lock. I highly recommend it. Best regards, Frank Koop

What a lovely place, attentive staff, and delicious food. We enjoyed sitting outside with the dog, shared the Delta fish trio, a glass of white wine, and dessert. Simply good and a wonderful atmosphere.

Conclusion August 2026: Unfortunately, things have changed quite a bit after 7 years. We've tried to reserve a table three times now, 4-5 days in advance. Always the same answer: nothing available. The service at the takeaway next door isn't very friendly. It's understandable that you have to wait. But if you ask after half an hour if your order has been forgotten, you're told they're on vacation. Questions are unwelcome. The food is very high quality, but correspondingly expensive. However, it's justified. Quality comes at a price. As I said, friendliness would be appreciated here. A very high-quality fish restaurant. Cozy atmosphere, fast and friendly service. Without a reservation, you rarely get a table.

I've been coming to the Netherlands for many years, and on every visit, I eat kibbeling at least once. I've never had anything like this before. It was absolutely top-notch! Incredibly juicy, crispy from the outside, and with an outstanding flavor. It came with a very, very tasty garlic sauce and coleslaw. Not exactly cheap, but worth every penny. The service was also extremely friendly and attentive. The interior looked absolutely stylish and inviting, while I sat outside. The mussels and other dishes at the neighboring tables also looked absolutely delicious. Highly recommended!!!

Meal for two including drinks The food was exceptionally good, incredible quality, and highly recommended. 2 appetizers, 2 main courses, 1 water, 2 glasses of wine, 2 beers = just under €120 Fantastic value for money. The staff were incredibly friendly, spoke at least 2-3 languages, and were very attentive.

It took 15 minutes before we could order. There was an hour between the appetizer and the main course. Allow plenty of time.

The pot of mussels and the kibbeling were delicious. The chips too. We had to wait a bit for the drinks, and there was still parsley on the fork.

If you are a seafood lover, you cannot miss this, but do note that the chefs have a siesta from 15:00 to 16:30. We didn't know that either, but luckily we arrived on time. Takeaway and eating outside in the fun mussel shells are also options.

It was really lovely! The food was great. Unfortunately, we didn't receive the dishes we ordered. The service was excellent, and after we mentioned the minor mishap, we immediately received an addition to our original order, and our drinks were on the house. We were treated very kindly and courteously and would gladly come back!

I can't comment on the food, only on the staff member who was there. When I asked about a free table, I was told they were closed for an hour. After consulting with our group, I went back to reserve a table. That's when I was informed that all tables were booked for the entire evening. Had we gone back an hour later to try and get a table, the trip would have been for nothing – quite unprofessional in my opinion.

During our holiday, we ate at both the takeaway and the restaurant, and both are highly recommended. Delicious food, a lovely shady terrace, and friendly service. We will definitely be back.

We had a delicious meal. The fish shop sells fried fish and chips, among other things, which you can take away or eat on the (picnic) benches in front of the shop, overlooking the harbor with fishing boats. The price is half that of the restaurant next door with the same name.

I bought fish sandwiches there for the first time today, and they were absolutely delicious! We'll definitely do it again tomorrow, since it's only a 15-minute walk to the restaurant 😉. The recommendation was fantastic, because this is exactly what we were looking for!!!

Anyone who loves fish must go to Bru 17. It is cooler inside now than on the cozy terrace. Great service and delicious seafood 😋 The restaurant is also tastefully decorated. Those who want to take something tasty back to their holiday home or campsite can visit the fish shop next door.

Delicious kibbeling at moderate prices. The benches are a bit uncomfortable, but okay for a short sit. You get a buzzer when you order, and it buzzes again when your food is ready. Then you can pick up your order.

During a stop on our river cruise We had an absolutely fantastic meal in the town in the Netherlands! We ate local lobster from the Scheldt River, the best we've ever had. We heard nothing but praise from other tables. Our recommendation: head to Bruinesse!

The food was fantastic and it was pleasantly busy. We did have to make a reservation due to the crowds.

The restaurant is beautifully situated right on the water. The staff was very attentive and friendly. It would be nice if the menu were also offered in English or German, as foreign guests are not uncommon here. While the waitstaff tried their best to help, they were also unable to overcome the language barrier themselves. After activating our translator app, we were able to choose from a wide selection of seafood. The service was a bit slow (even though there weren't many guests), but the food took an extremely long time. We were almost starving! ;-) However, we were rewarded because the food tasted wonderful. Unfortunately, on a second visit, we couldn't determine if the service was just slow that day, as we weren't given a table without a reservation... a shame. Even an hour and a half later, when we drove by again, the outdoor seating area was still almost empty.

What a terrible experience this was. We used to go often with my parents; my father always thought this was a lovely place. To reminisce about him, we made a reservation for 5:00 PM together with my mother and brother. We sat outside with the dog, and just when things started well, they went downhill very quickly. After waiting for an hour, we had to ask ourselves where our food was; we were told there was a miscommunication, it would arrive soon, and we were given a free drink. When we finally received the food, we had to ask for the ‘free’ drinks ourselves, which turned out to be on the bill after all. The food was substandard as well. I felt sick from the mussels and even sicker from how we were treated. My brother's pasta was cold, and my mother's clams didn't taste good anymore after waiting so long and receiving such treatment. I really have no words for it; I have never been treated so badly by staff. I would absolutely not recommend it, and we will certainly never return.
