Bush Restaurant in Schaarsbergen

They used to have the best vegetarian Stegosaurus burger here, but now it's just a chicken burger. It's actually strange that a zoo sells so many meat dishes and especially so few vegetarian alternatives...

We had a good meal. It was relatively expensive, but the quality was good.

No water tap. None of the interns knew anything; the restaurant team leader thinks you're crazy and tells you to just get water from the toilet. Gadogado was good with longtong tempeh and distinct lime. Poke bowl was bad with an extremely dry, sticky ball of rice, like microwave rice. Straw yogurt with strawberry was NOT strained yogurt, more like yogurt with whipped cream mixed in. If you want to eat, go sit at the back near the safari area, that's where the view is. Service not great, food mediocre, no atmosphere.

The gado gado was inedible with the sickly sweet, watery peanut sauce.

Big yes! Fast food kind of food but very good. We had the loaded fries (yuuum!), burgers, a nice layered cake, and...a wow for this part of Europe: cold coffee granita style. It was a nice & clean break. Cozy view towards the bush section of the zoo

Everything is absolutely delicious and looks fantastic. Yes, it's expensive, but the quality is actually very good. I've had worse meals in regular restaurants.

Quick to eat despite the crowds

The staff is friendly and polite. But I can't understand why, with such a large and beautiful kitchen, you can't go beyond deep-fried items and frozen pastries. For example, a chicken burger is 4 chicken thighs with a dry bun in a snack bar container. And all that for €9.50. For two people, fries and a burger with a bottle of water cost almost €40. I really expected more. You're already paying a fair amount just to get in. So, keep the food prices reasonable and of good quality. The wait time for a fried snack was also quite long.

The food is above average for a zoo, with a fairly wide selection. But you do pay a (too) generous price for it.

We bought a children's menu for 9 euros with a stegosaurus burger, believing it would be meat. Note that those stegosaurus burgers are VEGETARIAN. Which wasn't mentioned. I don't like that. Fortunately, the service was great. And after we asked to specify that it was VEGETARIAN, we got chicken burgers. So, PLEASE NOTE, people, it doesn't automatically tell you whether something is fake meat.

Bad restaurant, food is super expensive and the quality is really terrible. I had a chicken burger that was only half full of chicken and only slightly filled with lettuce and sauce. My girlfriend had fries with only small, hard, burnt bits.

Relatively expensive, particularly the sandwiches are overpriced. However the quality is very good, I can recommend the gado-gado + sauce which was excellent. Try to avoid lunch time on a Saturday because of the crowds, but other than that it's very good for a zoo restaurant.

We had a delicious meal at the Bush Restaurant. It isn't cheap, but I found the quality of the food to be better than at the average zoo restaurant. We had already had our own lunch from home, so our order was more of a heartier afternoon snack. My partner and I shared the loaded fries and the crispy chicken thigh fillet. The chicken was deliciously tender on the inside, and the sauce gave it a warm umami flavor. The staff was friendly. Everything is made fresh for you. Advantage: fresh food! Disadvantage: you get a slightly less clear idea of ​​what you can buy. You do see it listed on a menu, but naturally, we eat with our eyes first. You actually want to see the actual dish to know if it appeals to you. Would a sample display work? In terms of seating, it is nice that you can choose between sitting in a cooler spot and sitting in a warmer spot (in a conservatory in the Bush). The toilets were clean. There were sinks at two different heights. There was also a hook for your bag. I did notice, however, that there were 2 types of hand dryers. A label had been attached to one of the two, because otherwise it wouldn't be clear that you could dry your hands there. Lukewarm water came out of the tap. I always find that a bit of a downside, because I like to refill my drinking water.

Burger costs 9€ it is broken not tasty

The tropical hall has a super nice atmosphere and plenty of seating. There are self-service counters, but the prices are completely exorbitant. Since even the sandwiches cost €8, we opted for cake (€3.50 per slice). It was delicious, though.

A €9 hot chicken sandwich. You might expect something. At least, that the chicken is either spicy or hot. But neither turned out to be true. That has nothing to do with "theme park prices" anymore. This is pointless.

Very nice place to sit, especially since the renovation! Friendly staff and the toilets are the nicest to go to with a toddler because there is a low sink. These are the little pleasures that make the day extra fun! The prices are a bit high, but can you expect anything else in a zoo?

A very pleasant surprise, especially for a restaurant in a zoo. Nicely and practically furnished, lunch is all prepared (sandwiches are ready) so no waiting time, good choice and quality for lunch (mega hot dog, chicken burger, mackerel sandwich, hot chicken sandwich, chicken bites, fries, cheese sandwich, soup, poke bowl , salads, etc.). The tables and toilets are clean and are continuously cleaned, really very well. We went on Easter Sunday, no queue. Prices OK, all lunch dishes just under 10 euros or less. If you find this too expensive, you can always bring your own bread.

We went there for dinner on an empty day of the week. Visually, the restaurant is really good, it fits perfectly into the jungle. There were enough spaces, it seemed tidy and clean. Unfortunately the food was really bad. We had fries, a chicken burger and the loaded fries. The burger was very greasy and didn't have much flavor, the sauce on the loaded fries was way too sweet and tasted artificial, and way too much fat was used here too. The fries themselves were ok, but we found the mayonnaise and ketchup at €1 each to be too expensive. The service was good and quick. We'll take some food with us the next time we visit the zoo, it just didn't work for us. Price/performance was unfortunately not sufficient.

Went here in March 2024 for a piece of cake and later for lunch. The restaurant has been beautifully renovated and the toilets have really improved. The seating areas are modern and comfortably furnished and the temperature is pleasant. And now the food. What delicious cakes and pastries! And there is also a lot of choice in types. Highly recommended to have a piece of cheesecake here and relax for a while. I'm less enthusiastic about lunch. There are no sandwiches ready, but they are made to order. These are fresh, but you cannot see what is for sale (except on the menu) because there are empty trays. The price is high and you don't get value for your money. You pay 10 euros for a small bowl of chicken Tempura or kibbelingen and that is not enough for anyone. The portions are really too small in that respect. A small tub of mayonnaise costs 1 euro! I don't think this is necessary if you already pay 10 euros for a bowl of 5 pieces of chicken. You then have to wait a very long time until your order is ready. The homemade sandwiches are tasty and also a healthier choice. If you want to have lunch here with a family of 4, expect to spend around 60 euros...

Rimelig mad, venlig betjening og nydelige lokaler. Maden smagte fint uden at være prangende, men udvalget virker meget rodet. Svært som udlænding at finde ud af hvad man kan købe.

Zeer mooie locatie, uitstekende service en het eten is echt verrukkelijk.

Das Ambiente ist schön jedoch ist das Essen nicht sonderlich gut. Die Burger Pattys sehen aus wie Hänchen schmecken aber nach gemischtem Fleisch. Es kostet extrem viel und trotzdem wurde sich für das Essen nicht wirklich Mühe gegeben.

Leuke setting, wel ranzig eten en overpriced, zelfs voor een dierentuin. Weinig keuze ook.

Leuke plek om wat te eten, leuk ingericht, niet te massaal en goede kwaliteit eten en drinken. Prima keuken, hebben verstand van strikt glutenvrij eten (ivm coeliakie) maar vraag wel goed door en kijk mee (was nodig), het blijft een drukke plek met veel personeel. Bij mij ging het goed.

De wc’s bij het Bush Restaurant zijn recent vernieuwd. Wat is het mooi geworden! Burgers Zoo wilt aan gasten laten merken dat ze verantwoord ondernemen, bijvoorbeeld door te investeren in natuurbehoud. In het restaurant valt dan gelijk op dat gezond eten erg duur is in vergelijking met de ongezonde friet/hamburgers. Als Burgers Zoo echt verantwoord wilt ondernemen, dan is het zaak om ongezond eten aan te pakken.
