I only post reviews in exceptional circumstances, and Buuv is the exception. A number of 1/5-star reviews have been posted for me. Don't let this distract you; the staff is friendly and, above all, cheerful. The food is extremely tasty, and there is plenty of choice for the vegetarians and vegans among us. These options are also highly recommended for meat lovers. All in all, a top-notch spot in a beautiful and quiet location.

Top location!! We arrived and everything was full; unfortunately, we hadn't made a reservation, but if we were happy with a spot by the window, we could get in. It was a nice experience, we had a delicious meal, the atmosphere was cozy, and the staff was friendly! Kudos to the chef for keeping everything running smoothly. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely go back, and then we will also make a reservation in advance 😉 Everything was excellent!

The two of us dropped by spontaneously and hadn't taken into account that NEC was playing, that there was an Eivor concert, and that there would be a lot of reservations. 😇 But we received really great service and still managed to get a nice spot on the terrace with a parasol. And the staff did everything they could to make sure we had a good time. We had some delicious drinks (nice beers) and enjoyed the hustle and bustle created by the NEC supporters and concertgoers. The staff were really busy but ran like clockwork. We also had dinner; that was a bit earlier than planned, but so many people arrived that we ordered a little earlier from the lovely menu. The food was delicious. If we are in Nijmegen in the future, we will definitely come back. 2026, we are still here regularly, but it has become much more expensive. That is logical in itself, but yesterday I ate a gluten-free salmon sandwich, which I found way too expensive afterwards for what was served. €16, for 1 sandwich, with some salmon and avocado, and two tomatoes on the side. Otherwise, it remains a nice place to sit. 2023, What a nice place. Enjoyed breakfast, gluten-free! Very nice that most dishes can be adapted. Very pleasant place to sit in the Goffertpark.

As a regular customer, I expected a certain basic level of service, but my last visit was quite enlightening. Refusing to sell a child an ice cream without a clear explanation is… certainly a peculiar way of dealing with customers. The atmosphere also doesn't feel particularly welcoming, and consistency in customer treatment seems rather optional. As for the coffee, including the flat white — unfortunately, it doesn't improve the experience. Apparently, running a café is easier when expectations are so low, but as a customer, it is difficult to see the value in this.

My friends and I had a very bad experience at Café Buuv. When we go there, it takes about twenty minutes for the waiter to take our order. This happens even on the quietest days of the week. The drinks and dishes served are usually old and do not taste good. After the order has been served, the waiter comes by every five minutes to ask if it is tasty. This gives you the feeling that you need to leave the café as soon as possible. Moreover, you are constantly asked if you want to pay the bill already. The racist attitude of the staff is very noticeable and their behavior confirms this feeling. I do not recommend this café to anyone. I will never go here again.

This café is without a doubt one of the worst experiences I have ever had in Nijmegen. The staff is particularly unfriendly and makes you feel anything but welcome. The service is chaotic and awkward: as soon as you order something, it seems as if they want to get rid of you as quickly as possible. You are constantly stared at or approached, which creates a very unpleasant atmosphere. Additionally, the quality of the coffee is downright disappointing: often lukewarm and tasteless. What stands out most is that this café is not child-friendly at all. The way children are treated is truly unacceptable and ensures that you do not feel welcome as a family. I would absolutely not recommend this café to anyone. Fortunately, there are plenty of other cafés in Nijmegen where hospitality and quality are taken seriously. This is absolutely not one of them.

Compared to other cafes in Nijmegen, this is not a good cafe. The staff is unfriendly. Orders do not arrive on time. Additionally, there is a very unpleasant smell in the cafe. The owner and his wife behave very rudely. All in all, this is not a place I would recommend to anyone. The quality of the food is low, while the prices are actually high.

Buuv lives up to its name. It feels homey and cozy. I was alone but didn't feel that way. Had a delicious meal and received pleasant service. I would gladly come back.

I went for the first time, and I have to admit I wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend it either. The atmosphere is casual and the seating is fine, but the staff is subpar and not attentive to their guests. They spend more time behind the bar/kitchen, and we had to wait quite often to be served. Drinks were brought, and then, instead of tea, they brought coffee, which happens. Lunch was brought; I had soup and my girlfriend had 12-hour soup, and both of their soups were cold. It was "reheated" and then served lukewarm. I wanted to finish with a coffee. My girlfriend went to the bar to order because the waiter wasn't around. After waiting 15 minutes, I asked about the status of my coffee order, and the answer was, "Oh, I forgot!" Okay, three strikes, and now for the bill, please. They have a fantastic location, and the menu has potential, but they really need to work on their staff and the quality of the food they serve. Maybe try again in a year...

I organized a very successful PhD reception here. Everything was perfectly arranged: there was active input, the communication beforehand was excellent, the service was friendly, and the food was delicious and perfectly matched to the number of guests.

We had a lovely drinks there with a group of friends. It's a nice, quiet spot in a beautiful setting. The staff was very friendly, and the drinks menu is extensive. We'll be back soon for dinner, which I'm sure will be good too.

Delicious food, very nice place for a terrace, even in winter

As fun and delicious as it is for lunch or drinks, the service is truly poor. Upon arrival, we barely get a greeting. Twice now in a short period, we've had to wait a really long time just to be able to order. Most of the time, there was chatter among us, and we felt pretty much ignored. Other customers confirmed this. They said that if you don't come here often, you need to be extra patient. That could be better, BUUV ❤️

Just before N.E.C.'s anniversary match, we had lunch here. The food was delicious, but the service could be a bit better. It wasn't until the owner himself came out that things improved significantly.

The atmosphere was a bit dull, and there wasn't much connection with the staff. With four people serving six tables, you'd expect more interaction with the guests. The soup was also disappointing – not very flavorful.

We had a wonderfully cozy and delicious meal at Buuv on their heated terrace. The service was excellent and friendly, and we thoroughly enjoyed the wide variety of dishes they offer with their "Buuv" concept. Highly recommended!

Our family had a wonderful meal here Tuesday night! Because there were five of us, we were able to share a lot of dishes. It's a great concept, and it was delicious! We especially enjoyed the crushi, Korean chicken, and boa bun. Friendly service.

Two small portions of fries and two small bottles of water cost just under €17. The service staff were moderately motivated, and simple requests (ketchup/onions, etc.) were ignored. I wouldn't go there again.

Great restaurant embedded in a local neighborhood. Former soccer fan hangout place (of the local top team). Nowadays only regular public. Although it rained a lot that evening we had (outside!) a great time in a cosy atmosphere. Personnel and owner very friendly. The food was delicious. Top!

A lot of money for small portions, way too expensive for a neighborhood restaurant. Three pieces of chicken for €14, nachos with pulled pork where you have to ask for a magnifying glass to find the pork. Three dishes and two drinks for €75.00, I won't be going back! My son said something about it, and it wasn't really appreciated. Too bad, it looked like a nice place.

Before the performance at the open-air theater De Goffert, we enjoyed a meal and drinks on the covered terrace. The staff was exceptionally friendly, enthusiastic, and fast. The dishes weren't cheap, but they were delicious.

The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great, and the staff were incredibly relaxed and friendly. We sat comfortably in the shade on the terrace. One dish took an unusually long time to arrive, but it wasn't clear why.

I don't know what the service is like, but it wasn't good. We sat on the terrace, and at least five people after us were served first. At 2:30 pm, there was no more lunch available, only the drinks menu. And surprisingly, almost everything was gone. Too bad.

Had a drink for just over 40 people. We got our own section on the terrace with our own waitresses. Nice place, enough space and a beautiful view of the Goffert. Service was friendly and fast and thought along nicely. Agreed on snacks in advance and added some extra snacks on the spot. Wasn't a problem. There were also snacks for someone with celiac disease. The contact before, during and after the drink with Ellen was very pleasant. Buuv is a very nice place for a drink (and a snack) anyway! Whether you go in the morning, afternoon or evening.

I would have loved to write something positive. For the first time with you...after positive stories. It was quite cold outside, but the heaters were not on... so we sat at a table inside. That was fine according to a very friendly waitress..." Because this table will not be reserved for another hour." We had 2 nice coffees...and we ordered 2x the prawns and flatbread aioli. Then suddenly after 20 minutes we had to move from the table .....where we only got THE GAMBA's much later There were actually 5 shrimps in a large bowl with oil/stock with 1 halved cherry tomato. This was really TOO simple and for an outrageous price. Bread aioli was tasty!! It is that there was friendliness ...but I found it very disappointing.

Had lunch here with my wife a few months ago. That was really good! Friends' stories were not lies; it is a friendly place, nice menu and nice service. Beautiful classic building, cozy interior. Atmospheric, and I can definitely recommend it.

I rarely come here, but the service and the pace of service are always very mediocre. Having a drink on Saturday evening when the place is almost empty and still having to ask if you can order on the terrace and then having to wait endlessly for it. How do you accomplish this, especially with previous reviews in mind?

Shared dining concept, always fun. Friendly service. Very small tables close together. Dishes vary quite a bit, for example bruschetta topping too sour, fries too brown, raviolo too 'al dente' filling, tasty, but for what you get (6 pastas) overpriced, just like the (micro) quiche. For those amounts you can expect a top dish if it has this size, and not just a fairly standard dish. Hake fillet very tasty but a lot of bones. Cake from the display case was great! We would come back for that, not for the rest.

What a great place!!! Low prices for the tastiest lunch dishes! We came with a group, half of whom eat vegan and half of whom eat meat, and there were super tasty choices for everyone! Everything was delivered super quickly and it looked as beautiful as how delicious it tasted! I make hummus myself in a Middle Eastern restaurant and yours was just as tasty! Lovely staff, very nice place!! Definitely recommended!🙏

Nice place with large terrace in the sun. They have good lunch sandwiches. I went for the beef carpaccio. This came in 3 well-filled slices of bread. It took a very long time for our food to arrive, but the sandwich was delicious. Tasty beers are also served and there are water dispensers on the bar for those who want a glass of water.

Welcoming and casual atmosphere.

Bad service. Dirty high chairs, when you ask twice for a cloth to clean it, it is still forgotten. In addition, the fruit snacks for the children contain whole grapes and you do not receive any cutlery, even though you have asked to cut the grapes in half, and you do not receive them either. Nice place on the edge of the Goffertpark. You can come here early, but there are also plenty of options for lunch and dinner. The terrace is a wonderful place to spend a few hours, especially in the summer months.

We often come here with the kids for lunch at the weekend. A nice local place with a casual atmosphere. Prices are fine. The (lunch) menu could be a bit more man-friendly. It's fine to have a lot of vegetarian options, but a salad or bread with some chicken or salmon would be a welcome addition.

Nice place for a cup of coffee or a cake, I have been here many times with the children. Today I went for dinner for the first time and my jaw dropped; the physical menu suddenly appears to be many times smaller than the online menu (this is of course possible, especially in the summer), but of the 6 'main courses' four have already been consumed (it is 6:30 PM), some drinks also appear to have run out, there is water ready without glasses. Even after asking 3 times they don't come. But most annoying; the waiting time is absurdly long! And the portions are scandalously small for a price that is way too high! Bread plate as a starter is five very small pieces of dried out bread for €5... fries are not done, after 1.5 hours only part of our order has been delivered and after asking (after 1.5 hours) our ordered salads suddenly appear to be gone and no longer available to come. It was very busy, maybe that wasn't entirely expected, but the service was really bad today and the price-quality ratio is disproportionate!! That said; the food we got was tasty, the atmosphere is good and in the end they really did their best to make up for it and we got free dessert. Despite this, I won't be back for dinner.

We felt like puppets in an unfinished rollercoaster tycoon park. After sitting for two hours and barely having any food or drinks, we went home to put a pizza in the oven. We approached the waiter several times to ask if our orders had gone through, but to no avail. Super cozy place to drink coffee and eat a cake, but no more dinner for us.

Quality of service varies greatly. Sometimes you have to wait a really long time, regardless of how busy it is. Food is generally good! And the atmosphere is great, although sometimes it is a bit too full inside.

I was looking for a delicious salad. The roasted pumpkin salad is really delicious! Very friendly people and food is deliciously prepared and you can taste different flavors! The meal is really filling and healthy! I will definitely come back here

We stopped here for coffee during a neighbourhood walk. The location is good, with an attractive view over a park across the road. The cappuccino I had was good. A pleasant place.

Dit fijne plekje zit op de hoek van mijn straat en ik loop hier graag heen voor een kopje koffie/thee of een lekker wijntje met heerlijke kaasbitterballen. Binnen is het gezellig ingericht en in de zomer zit je buiten ook heerlijk in de zon, met mooi uitzicht op het goffertpark. De bediening is altijd vriendelijk. Kortom: gewoon een fijne plek om even langs te gaan!

Such a shame. The once nice place has turned into a wasteland. Nothing is right anymore. On a beautiful spring Saturday afternoon/evening, the terrace is not yet half full. Yet it takes at least 20 minutes to order your drink (and the service does not know the drinks menu) and at least an hour before the food arrives (they hardly look at tables). We were able to forget a glass of water after asking three times, luckily beer will come. The portions are scandalously small and expensive. Concept ultimately misses the mark: what is it? Tapas? (too little choice), shared dishes? (moderate quality and very small), snack with drinks? (too expensive). Total mismatch with the neighborhood. What was once a nice place to hang out has now become a failed hipster joint. Even the staff says they have doubts about the menu and the concept. That says a lot... time for a change guys!

The food is tasty, but the prices… Too pricey, 2 small spare ribs cost €16, 3 shrimp €12. 4 pieces of pasta €12. I understand how they got that name. Buuv sounds very much like a crook.
