I just wanted a decent burger. This is not the place to get that. The meat was un(der)seasoned, the patty pretty thin, the outside overcooked, the inside undercooked. The bun had been toasted too long. Very disappointing.

Delicious carpaccio and fantastic meat. Superb. Too bad the fries aren't that good, too greasy. Desserts (menu) mediocre. The sticky toffee isn't my cup of tea either. Why not a boring dame blanche or something? Otherwise, it's a cozy place and the staff are friendly. It is strange that you get your food on a cutting board, even though it's not a shared dining experience. The meat is of excellent quality, which makes up for a lot!

We had a wonderful meal here. Lovely atmosphere. Excellent meat. It's just a shame the dessert menu is limited. We'll definitely go back. Oh, and the fries are unfortunately too greasy... friendly staff!

I ordered online for pickup and when I arrived, the staff sent me outside to knock on the kitchen door like I’m supposed to play some kind of guessing game. I stand there waiting, only to be told I’m not allowed to pick up from the kitchen door and need to go back inside. So I walk all the way back through, and guess what? My order was just sitting there the entire time.

Guys, I've been coming to you for years. 10+ years. The food is always good. But that sewer smell? It's been there for over a year now. It's really unpleasant and unpleasant to eat with sewer smells. You really need to do something about it! The smell was making us nauseous; it's worse than before. I was here last summer too, and it smelled so bad then too!

Denis yeh ur a vegan not only is the menu very veritable and the servers are very enthusiastic. The ribs, steak fries and the hotwings are my highlight, they will ask spicy or sweet if you have a high spice tolerance then both is good if not stick to the sweet. Took 45 min for food to come. The most delicious Spicy Ribs ever! The Lady Steak was also excellent! The sauces were fantastic. Young, attractive, and very friendly staff. The interior is cozy and spacious, with an absolutely wonderful atmosphere! We thoroughly enjoyed it.

Had a family dinner outside, the food was subpar, it used to be significantly better.. we sent food back because the bread was rock hard, and sadly the second time it was still the same. The waiter genuinely did everything she could, we felt bad but it wasn’t the best dinner we had there.

Most delicious chicken (half chicken)

I have never paid so much money and gone hungry at a place in my life. We asked for a t-bone. The meat that was brought to us was not cooked. It was very tough and blood was flowing from it. They took it to be cooked again. When they brought it for the second time, it got even tougher and we could not eat it. I never recommend it.

Good food but bad service and little atmosphere.

We have been coming here for years and have always enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Unfortunately, my experience today (18/06/2025) was less good. The two ladies in the service seemed very inexperienced and had difficulty with overview and communication. This meant that we had to wait a very long time for our main course and dessert. What struck me most was that one of the ladies seemed downright disinterested. She could hardly manage a smile. That really detracts from the hospitality that I normally experienced here. Too bad because I always liked coming here.

Amazing ribs and chips, potentially the best ribs I have had before. Fall of the bone and tasty sauce. Good service. Visited this place a while ago and only reviewing now, but I remeber water was quite expensive. That was the only memorable flaw. Place is not cheap, but the food justifies the price in my opinion.

Had a lovely meal on the terrace, with the pram. The staff was attentive and had everything well under control. The food is still top after all these years!

A very bad experience. We will not be dining here again. When we were ordering, the waiter mispronounced our order. After correction and confirmation, when the order was served to the table, it was the waiter's own understanding, not ours, and he did not admit his mistake.

The food’s great but wow, sparkling water costs an arm and a leg at this place. 7,50€ for one big bottle of sparkling water, really?

Although the food (rib-eye and spare ribs) was very tasty, the service was mediocre. A glass of water for medicine can only be ordered by bottle or you have to walk to the toilet. Drinking is indicated over a balustrade (is walking around too much effort?). While we were still eating, we asked if we had finished eating yet (twice). The kitchen is top notch, the service could be much better!

Ate here on a Friday night, got a booking close enough to our dining time. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food was exceptional, especially the chicken wings, they were done properly, with a good spicy kick. I’d definitely return for more. Thank you.

Made a wrong reservation today, not for tonight but for tomorrow, but we still had a table for 7 people, even though the restaurant was almost full. The staff is very hospitable, friendly and helpful. We come here regularly and we have never been disappointed. The food is always good and the portions are generous. You never leave hungry. The spare ribs are the tenderest I have ever eaten. The meat falls straight from the bone. I would like to thank you, even though I had reserved a day later, we were still welcome. 🙏🏼 As a family we had a tough day. Thanks to you, we were able to conclude this beautifully.

Terrible service; if someone can call that service. They didn’t even provide cutlery to match the number of people and we had to ask for more. The soup tasted like it was water drawn from a salt mine. The worst part was a male staff member who, after the starters arrived and we hadn't even taken a few bites, suddenly cleared all the food away. He didn't even ask us if we were done eating . When I questioned him about it, he made lame excuses saying he thought we had finished, and he didn’t even offer a proper apology. Considering his behavior from the beginning to the end, I couldn't help but feel that he had a bias against Asians. The manager apologized, but the male staff member never apologized and kept avoiding the issue. His attitude was very disrespectful.

Very good and attentive service, we ordered Lady and Gents steak accompanied with soup of the day: onion soup, chorizo and fresh salad, very delicious, will come back for sure! They also have a holiday menu, worth trying for sure.

Went here for dinner 2 nights ina row. The food was amazing. The place is not too big and it is never overcrowded as it is a bit outside the city center. The menu is short which is usually a good sign. We tried everything from the menu and it was awesome. The ribs were falling off the bone, the steak was amazing. The fat was melting in my mouth. Rarely can I recommend a restaurant and be sure that you are going to love the food!

Had fried meat twice. The meat ended up not being eaten and sent back to the kitchen. Helped by 3 different people and the story was suddenly not clear. Treated very rudely by the manager. She was unreasonable and constantly raised her voice. Her appearance and look towards customers was also not too harsh. Yet we had to pay for the meat that was not consumed. If you refuse to pay for that piece of meat. Did they call the police? So not recommended.

Great service! Due to my own stupidity, I missed an order via Thuisbezorgd and returned it to Carbon Zuid. Thuisbezorgd could do nothing more, not even when I offered to pay another delivery fee. Unfortunately... nothing could be done. In short, paid money for the food, including a "service contribution" but did not really receive any service and neither did the food. Wrote an email to Carbon and explained the matter. Although they also have to pay a lot to Thuisbezorgd, I was still allowed to pick up my order tonight. What a great gesture and service from Carbon! Fantastic. The ribs were super tasty and the home made applesauce to die for! Thank you Café Carbon, I will come and enjoy it again soon.

The best ribs in the Netherlands and the meat and fries are in the same category. Carbon is one of the have to go to restaurants when I am in Amsterdam.

Delicious spareribs, good and quick service.

We had an incredibly delicious meal last Wednesday. All dishes were really great. All 4 of us enjoyed it. The steak tartare and the soup of the day were delicious. This also applied to the main courses (see photo). The Gents steak, Ribeye, Rack of Rib and half chicken are all recommended. What good meat dishes.

The food was delicious. The fries were good and Zaanse mayonnaise is always a plus. The half chicken was well seasoned and not too dry inside. The sticky toffee didn't have much flavor but was fine. The service was not very fast, but given the crowds, that is understandable. Luckily our waiter was very nice and wasn't too formal. The acoustics are just very bad. I had trouble hearing my friend sitting next to me.

Heerlijk gegeten, leuke sfeer, serveerster regelde een dame blanche voor me ondanks deze niet op het menu stond, een 10!

Omdat mijn zoon vlakbij dit restaurant woont en jarig was, besloten wij hier met 7 personen te gaan eten. Parkeren was even een ding. Bij binnenkomst was het druk en lawaaiig. Tafel bij het raam. Op zich een goed plekje maar t bankje was niet echt comfortabel. Er kwam een dame met een plat Amsterdams accent de bestelling opnemen. Noemde mijn schoonmoeder van 80 continu schat en kauwde erg zichtbaar en fanatiek kauwgom. Als ze sprak kon ik zien waar het zich in haar mond bevond. Het hoofdgerecht komt op planken die over tafel heen en weer aangegeven moeten worden als mensen hetzelfde gerecht hebben. Ik kreeg een vette gamba in mijn schoot. Een aantal gerechten eet kan met de handen gegeten worden (kip, gamba’s, ribs). Vaak krijg je daar een finger bowl bij. Helaas: een kommetje water met een schijfje citroen kon niet. Vochtige kleine doekjes die waren er wel. Zie dan maar eens het vet onder je nagels vandaan te krijgen. Kortom aardig wat ergernis maar het kauwgomkauwen sloeg alles. Jammer want het eten was goed.

Bediening vriendelijk, daar ligt het niet aan. Maar wat een ongezellige bende. Akoestiek slecht, verlichting ongezellig, banken zitten niet prettig. Kleine bordjes voor het eten, geen bakjes om de afgekloven ribs in te doen, geen doekjes om je handen schoon te maken. Pittige rib ligt op dezelfde plank als de regular ribs dus smaken vermengen. En dan de prijzen!!!! €4,50 voor een klein kommetje patat?? € 1 voor een piepklein kommetje saus??? De ribs waren heerlijk, gelukkig. Maar de sfeer en uitstraling komen niet overeen met de prijzen.

I have been to all their branches. After some unpleasant experiences, I went to eat elsewhere for a while. Recently I took the chance and came back to South and I liked it again and the food was back to normal. Went again last week, the food is good, but.... Once again the pleasant evening was brought down by the staff. The girl who walks around there is friendly, but she has visited us about 7.8 times in total. Taking drinks, taking food, clearing the table and the rest of the time is checking whether we have finished eating, asking each time if you would like something to drink, everything to your liking. She really made me nervous, as if we had to hurry (again, I had experienced that with Van Wou too). Just serve me normally, you won't hear me complaining. Food is good, but there are more alternatives.

Terrible service, ribs took more than 45 minutes to arrive, and one drink was forgotten. We only saw our server three times over 1.5 hours. Escalating to a manager helped somewhat. As of the food, ribs were a bit too dry and fries portion tiny (relative to ribs), we didn’t like it.

Eten was heerlijk! Service was goed. Dranken werden goed in de gaten gehouden waar door we nooit droog stonden. Jammer dat het erg warm was binnen. Dit kwam niet door de serveerster ;)
