Today, a completely different era lives here, an era of blues, classic rock, southern rock and hard rock. De Kroeg is a place where music is not just playing in the background, but is part of the character of the establishment itself. This is a true bruin café, the traditional Dutch "brown cafе". It was great fun... until one person couldn't stand our giving a legitimate rebuttal. When I got outside, I got hit, and later the police confronted me and wrote me two tickets. It's unrealistic. If you can't stand something, you talk it out. Don't use violence. We were playing the slot machine, and there was one woman who secretly kept pressing the "back" button with her elbow while we were saying, "What are you doing?"

I will definitely go there again. Friendly landlord. A bit of a shame that there is a pool table on the dance floor.
