It was a Tuesday, but the place was packed and stayed that way until late. You're doing a wonderful job, fantastic work. Keep it up! Highly recommended. 10/10.

A very charming restaurant in a typical Amsterdam neighborhood. The menu is small, so we opted for the set menu and dined at the bar, which is always a plus. The food is truly delicious, as is the wine: a flawless experience on the plate. The only downside: we were charged for a second bottle of water that we hadn't ordered. And following the waiter's advice, we ordered a glass of wine, which turned out to be very expensive… not very classy. Otherwise, it was a lovely experience and the restaurant is well worth a visit.

We had a very disappointing evening at De Klepel. I don't eat pork, so I was given monkfish as an alternative. Nothing wrong with that per se, but it's a shame they served it with the same sauce and garnishes as the pork. All the dishes were far too acidic. The staff was arrogant, and the food was brought to the table without a single word like "enjoy your meal." They also didn't ask if I enjoyed it, even though I left my plate full. This restaurant is apparently doing too well to care about anything and has completely lost its vision of hospitality, even though you're paying top dollar.

We didn't actually go inside, but the charcuterie boards were excellent and a nice selection of wines!

Big disappointment. We were here a few years ago when it was still great. Now very bad starter and main course. We had to wait very long for the main (1.5 hours). When it came the duck was severely undercooked. Also no service at all with pouring the wines et cetera. Whereas the restaurant was all waiting very long for the food, the kitchen staff was just making jokes and laughing in the back when walking to the toilet. We will not go back anymore.

Has such a memorable experience here. Booked weeks in advance and they were so accommodating to us arriving a bit late after our canal tour. Every course was incredible and our server was knowledgeable about the wine pairings and so sweet.

My frank opinion? What a fantastic place! Not only did we eat and drink fantastically, but thanks to all the staff, who clearly enjoyed themselves, we had an evening to remember. Sometimes everything just works.

A very disappointing evening at De Klepel. After half a dozen overly salty snails for €18.50 and raw langoustine, which was very tasty, by the way, our three-course meal began. Oh no, first, as an amuse-bouche, a cup of bell pepper soup with croutons from a bag. A starter of smoked pork in a truly delicious korma sauce, and for the main course, an uninspired pork steak in a sweet jus with a collection of vegetables. The laziness is palpable. If you only offer one menu without à la carte, it has to be good, or change less often if inspiration strikes. Then came the wine experience, because De Klepel is all about wine and food, as the window says. An impressive collection of mainly French wines and always about 10 bottles by the glass, which is great! The main course is where things go wrong. Waiter L. lets me try a Swiss Pinot Noir at €21 a glass, which I find unremarkable and certainly not worth the price, so he suggests the other "special" the staff recommends for this dish. These specials are more expensive than the "regular" open wines. I'd asked for a tannic, rough-edged wine to counter the sweet pork, but the poured Carignan doesn't quite cut it for me either, so I order one of the regular open red wines. The comment I then receive is: "But we really think this is the best wine for what you want, and my colleague agrees, and he's been in the business for 20 years." Nevertheless, I order what I fancy, after which I tell L. wearily behind the bar, "I'm still busy with table 2." Trying to shove your most expensive glasses down the customer's throat like this is beneath me. Moreover, the pouring is so minimal during the tasting that the whole process is essentially pointless. All in all, an unsympathetic evening where I experienced little hospitality. Even on previous visits, I wasn't impressed by the wines by the glass, but I was impressed by the prices.

We sat outside on a lovely evening and enjoyed some impeccable wines and food. The servers were knowledgeable and friendly. We got the charcuterie and cheese boards which were both really tasty.

Magic! The pearl of Amsterdam, what a wonderful experience, everything is perfect here. Fantastic wines, exceptionally good dishes, and a cheese board we'll never forget. For us, this is a restaurant we'll definitely be returning to soon.

Fancy french inspired special restaurant near Anne Frank House. It came highly recommended by a foodie sommelier from Amsterdam and it lived up to the hype. First the atmosphere is super charming and warm - perfect after an emotionally intense visit to the excellent Anne Frank Museum.Secondly, the service was pretty good once they figured out what our dietary restrictions were. Shout out to Audje who took care of use for about 2.5 hours. We were chatting away and didn’t want the experience to end! Oh and the food! Wow. Very interesting combination of textures. Very creative and very well plated. Delicious too! Honestly the chocolate dessert may have bee one of my top desserts ever! And regarding drinks I enjoyed my Chartreuse.

What a relief, when everything is just right, very pleasant advice, excellent food, excellent service speed, in short, what a recommendation I will definitely come back!!!

Het is altijd fijn om terug te komen bij de Klepel. De sfeer is prettig, huiselijk en onwijs gezellig. De medewerkers zijn super vriendelijk en relaxed, daarnaast hebben ze ervaring met de producten. De wijn is echt perfect en de kazen zijn zeer smakelijk! Een bezoekje aan Amsterdam kan zeker niet zonder een bezoekje aan Cafe de Klepel.

Se toparon con el encantador toldo y estaban felices de encontrar el delicioso queso y vino (como, derretir - en - su - queso de boca) en noviembre pasado. Mi esposa y yo volvimos este verano y tomamos vino y queso con su colega. Nuestro servidor y sumiller (Niek) era increíble en recomendar un gran vino - - basado en lo que le dije que nos gustó. Eligió cuatro quesos deliciosos para nosotros. Naturalmente, tuvimos que volver, así que reservamos una reserva de cena para esta noche y fuimos a por la comida de tres platos. Increíble. ¡Ven aquí! What a fantastic evening! Delicious is actually an understatement for the whole experience. This is truly a French wine restaurant through and through, where passion for wine and gastronomy come together. The sommeliers are fantastic: knowledgeable, hospitable and enthusiastic. I indicated from which region I would like a wine and which flavour profiles I like (oxidative, tertiary, wood-aged), and received a perfect wine pairing with the menu. The sommelier understood our preferences perfectly, and the conversation about the wines was not only informative, but also very pleasant. The food was served at a pleasant pace and was all delicious. Everything was perfect: atmosphere, service, wine, food. An absolute must for lovers of French cuisine and special wines.

Some local friends recommended me this place, and I am so happy I listened them. It wasn't only the great food from start to finish, but the place itself, the service and the neighbourhood. Make a reservation and go there, maybe after an hour strall aroung "9 streets"

Nous avons dégusté 3 Bourgogne, Chaque vin était un vrai plaisir, parfaitement accompagné par des planches de charcuterie et de fromages de qualité. A superb discovery! There were four of us and we had an excellent evening at Café de Klepel. It’s much more than just a wine bar: the owner, also a sommelier, shares his passion with generosity and very good advice. Each wine offered was a real pleasure, perfectly accompanied by platters of high quality charcuterie and cheeses. The atmosphere is warm, the service attentive. Everything was perfect — we will definitely come back!

One of the better restaurants I have eaten at. The food was excellent. The wait staff was memorable. You eat what the chef prepares for that night. Plan way ahead because they are typically booked a month out.

Mega tolle Weinbar mit unglaublicher Weinauswahl!!! Beim ersten Besuch waren wir da um den tollen Wein und Champagner zu genießen! Sind dann auf das Menu aufmerksam geworden und haben für den nächsten Abend reserviert. War ein unglaubliches Menu mit total frischen Zutaten und Mega Qualität! Das Essen war wirklich unglaublich gut und wir können es mehr als empfehlen. Wir hatten den schönsten und stimmigsten Abend bei unserem romantischen Aufenthalt in Amsterdam. Wein, Essen, Ambiente und der super Service alles passte perfekt zusammen! Volle Punktzahl und wir kommen sicher wieder!!!

Conseguir una mesa aquí es todo un desafío – reservamos con más de un mes de antelación y aún así terminamos con un lugar en el bar. Desafortunadamente, sentarse hombro con hombro con otros no fue ideal para nuestro evento especial. Dicho esto, el espacio tiene un gran ambiente y es muy acogedor. La comida era buena, pero no excepcional. Mi venado era tristemente un poco duro, aunque el entrante y el postre eran encantadores. Lo que realmente me decepcionó fue la relación precio-valor. Para los altos precios, esperaba más – definitivamente hay mejores opciones por ahí. Para colmo, me encontré con un pequeño bocado en casa más tarde. Es un buen lugar para tomar algo y ambiente, pero para una experiencia gastronómica memorable, recomendaría buscar en otro lugar.

Dit voormalige ‘bruin café’ in de gezellige ‘9 straatjes’ is een prima adres voor een glas wijn (zeer ruime keuze) met hapjes, of een diner met vast dag/weekmenu. Allemaal bereid in een piepkleine keuken achterin de zaak. Fijne, informele sfeer en heel prettige bediening door sommeliers. Er zijn ook twee tafeltjes op de stoep. Reserveren noodzakelijk. Stevig prijsnivo.

Thanks to the waiting list, we got a table for three relatively spontaneously. It was a great evening, cozy atmosphere, nice and courteous service with good wine advice and a good 3-course menu. Thank you for that! We had also requested a vegetarian variation in advance, which was also very tasty, but unfortunately the combination was not as convincing as the other dishes. Nevertheless, we can highly recommend the location!

This is a cozy restaurant/wine bar with a decent tasting menu and great wine! The panna cotta for dessert was my favorite dish.

Good food. Service is as usual in Amsterdam, less then caring and respectful. Ordered sparkling water, got water from the tap (probably from the canals) stale and dead. Ordered sparkling water again, they do not have it, OK, no other options available. Suggested in a very nice way that they might give customers the option of having bottled water, to no avail... Trying to make fun and make it right at the end, but waiter says: We keep to our policies! What policies? Not having good water and being proud of it? So, yes, I still gave a polite feedback and was nice but was dismissed and felt like I was the bad guy! Not coming back! Food is good, service, bad!

After having drinks here several times, we finally had dinner here. Had a very nice evening. The food is delicious and refined. The matching wines are all a surprise and certainly one of the best wine pairings I have had in Amsterdam. Everyone in the service is knowledgeable and the service is top notch! The clapper was really on my list of places to go. Always full, you have to be quick! On my birthday the time had come, the two of us having fun at the bar. Ambience is great, a very cozy and nice restaurant in one of the nicest streets in Amsterdam. We were not lucky with the weather, when it is 30 degrees outside, it is difficult to bear inside. Service, I have to say, you don't see this often anymore. That will also distinguish them, you will notice that personal contact is made and there is a lot of regular clientele. The food is fine! Not high end and taste sensation what I expected, but above average. I would have two tips, something like air conditioning would be good, and a bar stool with a backrest.

We stopped by after a dinner but we were very pleased with both the wine and especially the cheeses. Even though you sit outside, there is no smoking at the table, you have to get up and smoke next to the table.

Just really tasty. Excellent price-quality ratio. Small and intimate atmosphere. No rush, nice long dining. But there is always room for improvement: sitting with empty glasses for a long time, once or twice.

What a nice “café”, but that doesn't sell De Klepel short. In my opinion, a fantastic restaurant, where the atmosphere is very cozy and relaxed, the service is knowledgeable, professional and cordial and the food is delicious; original and tasteful. It had been a while since we ate here. Completely new kitchen and service. The cuisine is surprising, modern and incredibly tasty. Management works hard to please everyone and they do that well. Tasty matching wines with expert knowledge. I like the relaxed atmosphere, pleasant noise. No matter how full it is, you don't have to worry that others will be able to enjoy what you say! Highly recommended. Reservations are necessary.

We love Cafe de Klepel! It's our favourite restaurant in Amsterdam and every time we return it's the highlight of our visit. The staff is amazing and the food is incredible. Would 100% recommend!

Dare I say, best food and experience I’ve ever had

We hadn't made a reservation, but luckily there was still a spot at the bar (for an hour). When a spot became available outside, the boy who served us quickly informed us. Here we could enjoy the wines, charcuterie, oysters and shrimp croquettes for longer. I would love to come back here again!
