It's truly amazing what they come up with. And all without fish or meat.

A very cozy and atmospheric (alternative and unique) restaurant with a great vision and matching menu. I was there on a Friday evening, and it was packed.

We loved the atmosphere, the friendliness, and the food; everything was great.

We'd love to have a restaurant like this in our neighborhood. If we did, we'd be here at least once a month. We had a delicious meal here.

A truly unique neighborhood restaurant in the heart of Amsterdam East, completely off the beaten track, highly recommended for anyone looking for a new culinary experience. We went with four friends on a Saturday evening; it was warm but rainy, and we were able to sit outside under a parasol. Occasionally, the downpours were heavy, and we had to sit a little closer together under the large, reasonably waterproof parasol. There were a few guests inside, but it wasn't crowded. You'd wish Elixer had more guests. What a culinary experience! They use a lot of vegetables (very good! Including artichokes, which you don't often see) and fish (including ceviche). The staff is dressed in traditional attire and very attentive. The courses followed one another at a good pace. We had a multi-course surprise menu. The photos demonstrate the versatility of this restaurant. It's not cheap, but that's not the case these days in the hospitality industry. But paying €8.40 for a 50cl Gulpen beer is quite a bit. For the four of us, the bill was over €286, so we paid €300. We'll definitely be back!

Restaurant Elixer is located on a quiet square, between a number of apartment buildings in the Indische buurt of Amsterdam. The restaurant is pleasantly decorated and has a spacious terrace. The service was attentive and the food good with a non-standard own touch (fresh herbs and vegetables).

This atmospheric restaurant in the middle of the Indische buurt, with a nice, colorful and sunny terrace exceeded our expectations. A circular, sustainable initiative with a vegetable-rich menu with many vegan options. We had the artichokes, green bean salad and pickles fritters, delicious! The products used seem to be much tastier than those from the supermarket, perhaps because they come from their own garden. 🌱

Called in advance to see if a keto dinner was also possible. I had a surprise menu and my wife ate the keto way. Everything was neatly arranged, nice atmosphere, friendly service. Worth repeating

Very tasty food. We went for the surprise menu. I can say nothing else that I was also surprised. Very varied composed dishes in every course. Service has knowledge of the dishes and has explained and presented it nicely. We found the price-quality ratio appropriate. Fresh ingredients and that's how it tastes too!

I’m very sad to be writing this review but I strongly feel people should be aware that they are eating here at their own risk. We had an incident the last time we were there where the waitress dumped a whole try of drinks on us which shorted out my husband’s phone. We repeatedly asked for their insurance info which they would not give. So we finished our food and drinks, paid the bill (including the round that was dumped on us) and sent an email again asking for their insurance info. They called back and explained they have no insurance coverage. I’m not sure if it’s true or they just refuse to give it, but either way it’s not good. Luckily nobody was burned or injured. Its a shame because food is not bad but staff and management are terrible

We had a perfect evening here, the food is superb, the atmosphere is very pleasant, and the service exemplary. We had the three course Chef's Menu, consisting of a artichoke salad, brill (like turbot) with baked patatos and vegetables, and a grand desert. Many vegetarian options. Decent selection of wines by the glass, all friendly priced. Good cocktail menu. Moderate noise level and fully wheelchair accessible. We spend €137 with two persons incl. cocktails and wine, which I consider very high value for money, and is hard to beat elsewhere in the city. Highly recommended!

The move from SE apparently went well and we now find "our" Elixir in East. Again surprising and warm. What a wonderful spot.

Super fun, creative, colorful place with good food and a nice atmosphere. I had dinner there at a dance event. Enjoyed it very much. Gem in the East.

What an amazing surprise in Oost. Unpretentious, original and you feel welcome! Maybe I shouldn’t mention the “hidden gem” thing because it could spoil the place if it gets too popular. This place feels super special and local, you can tell the owners love it and try to make it different that any other cafe or pub. The food was also original and tasted amazing. (They also have big portions, so if you want to escape the small plate epidemic that seems to have taken over Amsterdam, this is your place).

Enjoyed a delicious lunch with light and spicy pumpkin soup, tasty salad with bread and cheese croquettes. Really nice coffee, too. Nice place where you feel welcome!

Very nice restaurant. A bit atypical in combination with the neighborhood in which it is located. The food is more than fine, but nothing special. The price we ultimately paid for 5 courses with 2-3 drinks per person is around 80 euros. Considering the quality of the food, a bit on the high side in my opinion. Nevertheless, we had a very nice evening and don't hesitate to return :)

What a cool place. That's where it ends for me... unfriendly and stressed owner (I think?) who came to my surprise party to explain to me what was not allowed... renting out a room that is super fun, but coming an hour in advance to say that the DJ was the one hired was allowed to stop because she, the owner, thought it was too quiet. Nice place, very stressed owner and mediocre food for the price. Shame!

Really tasty and interesting home food.

Snacks were not tasty. The owner was stressed all evening and was difficult about everything. We had agreed to stay until 00.30, but when it became less busy we suddenly had to leave at 23.30.

Very tasty food. The main courses were surprising, varied and delicious flavor combinations. Even the vegetables that I normally find a bit boring were deliciously prepared. Also a very nice and cozy place. Our son also loved everything, especially the homemade grape juice ;-). We will definitely come back!

Enjoyed the pure food, gluten and casein/lactose free (on request). How nice to be able to just eat with my table companions. We opted for the 5-course surprise menu and it was plentiful. The atmosphere and service were nice and informal and good. Despite the crowds (all tables occupied and a large party in the side room), there was plenty of time for a chat with the guests in a casual atmosphere. Once again we enjoyed all aspects!

A very pleasant surprise. Not knowing this restaurant at all in advance, we went there completely unknown. Not having a reservation, we were very well received and a table was made available to us. The big strong point of this restaurant is the surprise menu which changes every week where you have the choice between a 3, 4 or 5 course menu (but you don't know what you are going to eat). The products are seasonal and of good quality and the staff asks you in advance if you have any allergies. Allow 42 euros for a 3-course menu, which in my opinion is reasonable for the quality of the products and the taste that the cooks seek to bring to customers. the decoration is very original. In short, a place to visit with your eyes closed

Food was delicious! Very tasteful! Homemade lemonade: bit overpriced. Anyway, I understand with such a large space. Too bad the staff seemed so irritated all the time. Communication between us did not go well either, because our food was not served correctly. We would then receive the incorrectly served fish for free, which was later stated on the receipt. Very sad everyone! It's not the music, the food and the ambiance....

Heerlijk gegeten, met 6 personen, goede service, aardige mensen en geëindigd met hun Elixer, was heerlijk.

Hier vorige week voor het eerst geweest als nieuwe bewoner en dat beviel mij goed! Lekker gegeten en de mensen waren erg vriendelijk. Ik kom zeker terug!

Wat een zaaalig eten. Allemaal vers. De koffie met zelf gebakken koekjes zijn top. Wat dacht je van ZELFGEMAAKTE lavendel, koffie of chocolade ijs/sorbet? Ouderwets persoonlijk benadering naar de klant toe. Op het terras zit je heerlijk, maar ook de strandstoelen zijn fijn. Binnen ziet er geweldig uit. Muziek keuze is ook fijn. Een aanrader!

Nice place serves absolutely wonderful and surprising food! Staffs were very friendly, always trying to explain us about the food in English which was extremely helpful. Only thing is that the waiting time between appetisers and main course is a bit too long cuz we were actually starving. Other than that everything was nice!
