KID Amsterdam in Nieuwe Pijp

We started with the dumplings, the oyster mushroom char siu, and coconut rice. The dumplings were fresh, soft, and had a tasty filling. Perhaps not the most surprising dish of the evening, but certainly well executed. The sauce they were served in really completed the dish for me; it was full of flavor. The coconut rice was also excellent. The rice had a nice, loose grain, and you could clearly taste the pandan and lemongrass, making it beautifully aromatic. We also ordered crispy chili oil on the side. It tasted good, but I would have liked it to have a bit more heat. The absolute star of the first round for me was, without a doubt, the oyster mushroom char siu. The texture of the oyster mushroom was truly impressive and surprisingly reminded me a lot of meat. The glaze had that delicious sweet and savory char siu flavor, and everything was perfectly balanced. This is without a doubt a dish I would order again. In the second round, we had the crispy chicken wings, the chicken burger, and the fries. The chicken wings were served deliciously hot, exactly as they should be. The outside was beautifully crispy while the meat remained juicy. Additionally, they had a spicy coating that reminded me of a curry spice blend, which gave the wings just that little something extra. The chicken burger was also tasty. The bun was perhaps one of the highlights: wonderfully soft, airy, and buttery. However, for me, the burger could have been a bit better balanced. The chicken could have been a little spicier, and I missed some fresh, tangy elements. More pickled onions or other pickled vegetables would have nicely balanced the fattier character of the butter and the fried chicken. Furthermore, the burger consisted of one larger piece of chicken and two smaller pieces. Personally, I think the burger tastes even better when there is just one nice large piece of crispy fried chicken on top. Normally, I am not such a fan of battered fries, but these pleasantly surprised me. They were deliciously airy on the inside, nice and crispy on the outside, and perfectly seasoned. There was actually very little to criticize here. All in all, we had a fantastic meal. The quality of the preparation and the attention to texture stood out in particular. With a few minor points for improvement, such as a bit more spice and some fresh accents in the chicken burger, it would be almost perfect for me. As far as I am concerned, the oyster mushroom char siu is an absolute must-try, and I would gladly come back for that alone.

When you go out to eat, you sometimes want something special that you can't make at home or are hard to find elsewhere. That is exactly what you get at Kid. A particularly unique and good menu. All dishes are of unprecedented quality, in my opinion. The service is professional yet friendly and personal. A wonderful evening out that I rarely experience.

LUNCH! LUNCH! LUNCH! Kid in the Jordaan is dangerously delicious, and the service is absolutely first class. But the Honey Butter Chicken Burger? Life-changing. Seriously. One bite and suddenly you’re rearranging your entire week around coming back for another. Beware: everything at this place is ridiculously tasty and highly addictive. OMG, STOP READING AND MAKE A RESERVATION. Wait outside until they open if you have to. GO!

Celebrated my birthday at KID with a group of friends, and it was such a treat! Because we were a bigger group, we had a set menu, but since I pretty much love everything KID does (and genuinely think the whole menu is worth a taste) we couldn’t resist adding a few extras like the oysters, dumplings and oxtail, just to make sure we didn’t miss out on anything. And, as expected, absolutely every dish was delicious. So many of my friends are from Rotterdam, and KID is the only Amsterdam restaurant I always bring them to. I’m basically on a mission to introduce everyone I know to this place! The eggplant with stracciatella is an absolute favourite, and of course the chicken burger and dumplings are forever highlights for me, but honestly everything we had was super tasty. It was also my first visit since KID moved to the new venue and I love what they’ve done with the place. Really tasteful and big fan of the playlist! The perfect place for my birthday dinner. Can’t wait to come back again!

Nice atmosphere with low quality food

KID Amsterdam has great food! Yesterday we went to KID, the food that we ordered was really nice. We especially enjoyed the eggplant and also the mushroom skewer was fantastic. It was however a bit disappointing that even though we had specifically ordered some dishes as starters and others as main that they brought it all almost at the same time and even started with the fries and burger first. It was also a bit of a pity that some of the dishes and drinks on the menu that we were looking forward to were not available such as the kombucha and the Ikan Bakar. Because all the dishes came at the same time and all dishes were full of taste it was a bit much to really enjoy all the distinct and wonderful flavors. I think this slightly made the experience less. It was also not so nice that we were done within 1 hour as that was not our intention for the night. The vibe of the restaurant however was really nice. I hope they improve on these small things for next time to make the experience more enjoyable.

Saturday night, a group of 8 of us, and the restaurant was super busy. We had to wait a bit for our menus, and honestly, we thought the service wasn't going to be great. We were so, so wrong! The food and the service completely matched the restaurant's amazing vibe. I feel like dining out in Amsterdam can always be a hit or miss, you find all these cool places that end up disappointing on the food or service front, but not Kid! The staff were suuuuuuuuuper nice, the food was delicious, and the cocktails were even better. Since we were a big table, we ordered a ton of different things, and not a single dish made us think, "Oh, this could have been better." Straight into my top 3!

I’m actually angry that I didn’t visit KID sooner. Last night was nothing short of amazing. The staff were attentive, friendly & informative, the drinks were fresh, the interior makes me want to redecorate my entire house and the playlist was an absolute vibe. Now for the food…. I haven’t had a dinner in Amsterdam in a very long time where every single dish was absolutely f*****g delicious. People have raved about their burger (which was also great) but the other dishes were insane. I’m going to be dreaming about the oxtail until I visit again. The chef truly understands the meaning of fusion. 10/10, no notes!

My partner literally said “It’s her new favorite restaurant in the city.” Our first time dinning at Kid Amsterdam and it was extraordinary. Loved the ambiance of the place - great lighting, background music fitted the atmosphere. EGGPLANT & STRACCIATELLA was by far the most surprising dish. We also had CHAR SIU SKEWER, CRISPY WINGS and IKAN BAKAR. Every dish was unique on its own with such a nuanced flavor. I definitely recommend their cocktails. We drank UMESHU SPRITZ, SPICY PALOMA with tequila and KID MARTINI - all 12/10

Dumplings are a bit overpriced for just getting 3. Love the sharing concept. Definitely reserve though.

Excellent place for a quality casual dinner. The fried chicken burger was spectacular, the eggplant stracciatella was delicious, and the roasted cabbage was superb. The sticky pudding dessert with coconut ice cream and Padamah mousse was very tasty. Friendly and very fast service. I'll be back.

Found this gem whilst visiting Amsterdam with 3 children, 16, 14 and 11. They all loved the chicken burgers. Service was friendly and would highly recommend.

If you are looking to have great food, a great time and good drinks, you should come here! The food is some of the best I’ve had in Amsterdam. The people who work here are genuinely great, a good laugh and great at what they do. Get the dessert, is definitely worth it, and the chicken burger.

i didn’t eat there .but all i wanna say is that they should’ve clarified on google maps that the kitchen closes at 9:15 because when we arrived at 9:40 we weren’t allowed in as they said that the kitchen has closed which was very devastating.

I cannot understand that these high reviews are real; the food really wasn't good. So disappointed and shocked that such restaurants have high reviews. The staff were also very arrogant and unfriendly. They are trying to establish a certain vibe here, but in my opinion, they failed. I will never come here again.

Some of the best food I’ve had in a while! The portions are generous and incredibly filling, every dish is flavourful without being overwhelming, and the fact that it’s halal is the cherry on top. The atmosphere was also fantastic, great vibes all around. Highly recommend!

Very niche and art place. The food was amazing, I don’t know if I ate more juicy chicken burger in my life! The staff were really friendly and helpful with choosing what to eat. I recommend reserving a table because it’s open after 17:30 and everyone go there right when its open. All in all very cool place to have a dinner or a drink with a snack!

What a disappointment! We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation, and it was clear the restaurant wasn’t prepared for our early arrival. We were left waiting by the windowsill instead of being invited to wait at the bar or even being offered a drink. The service was poor from start to finish, and the food was even worse. Everything we ordered was dry, bland, and completely lacking in flavor. I genuinely don’t understand how this place has so many 5-star reviews. If I could give it 0 stars, I would. It was a complete waste of time and money. The restaurant seriously needs experienced chefs and staff who understand what genuine hospitality looks like.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We loved our experience to KID. The interior is stunning, with a 70s modern vibe. The staff were super friendly, the cocktails were amazing, and every dish was packed with flavour. We shared the chicken burger, roasted cabbage, moksi meti with rice, and the tsukune flatbread. Definitely more than enough for two, but worth it to try a range of dishes. We were also celebrating a birthday and were treated to a sake, which was such a lovely touch. Can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu!

In addition, everything was perfect; the service was friendly, knowledgeable, and made great recommendations from the menu, the wine was good, there were crazy drinks like the Milky Oolong Iced Tea which you simply must try, and the decor was beautiful. The FOH team were welcoming, warm and genuine - with a real interest in ensuring that you have the best experience for you whilst with them. They understand the right proportion of delicious (Miso) butter to supply for a bread roll (loads!!) They can fry chicken, the make an outstanding flatbread and the Plum(ish) sauce that came with the Duck, Chicken and Beef was the perfect consistency for dipping their seasoned fries in Their take on an English STP was like bonfire toffee and coconut - in the BEST way possible Friday seemed liked a popular evening as they had 3 guys on music duty - if you like a quieter dining experience, maybe avoid Friday; BUT this did create a great atmosphere Top Marks - glad I found it. Would go again

Probably the best dinner I had in Amsterdam. Lovely staff, young vibes, delicious menu with a particular style that guides you through it. I suggest going in a small group to try different dishes because they are worth it. Good selection also of sake and natural wine. They also have a nice drinking bar area that improves the overall quality of the restaurant. Loved it ❤️

I visited Kid with two of my friends, and we decided to order a mix of the most popular menu items and our waiter’s recommendations. We started off with some sake; it was good, though unfortunately, it wasn't served in traditional sake glasses. For food, we shared the fries, the burger, the wings, and the skewers. The wings and the fries were definitely my personal favorites! The overall atmosphere was quite nice, and while the food wasn't completely out of the ordinary, it was certainly good enough that I would consider visiting again the next time I'm in Amsterdam. Plus, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.

I went for dinner with my partner and another couple. Dinner started off wrong with the most disgusting oyster I’ve ever tried. It was room temperature and almost made me sick. The following courses were nice and we were able to enjoy them. But we wanted to get dessert afterwards and we were told the kitchen was running behind so we weren’t able to get dessert even though the place was far from full and it was only 10pm. They didn’t even offer us cocktails, it just felt like they wanted us out of there so they could chill with their homies. Will not recommend it and will not be coming back.

We really loved our experience at KID! We tried out their lunch menu, ordering the Mapo fries, chicken burger and duck sandwich and everything was delicious😋 We also had a martini and spicy paloma and they were suuuper good🍸the environment is also very nice and staff very attentive. We will definitely be back to try the dinner menu!

The dishes were super original, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. You can really tell there’s a lot of passion behind every detail. On top of that, the staff treated us amazingly from the moment we arrived — friendly, attentive, and making the whole experience even better. And to top it all off, the prices were very good for the quality and location. Without a doubt, 1000% recommended. We would definitely come back.

Went to kID Amsterdam and really enjoyed it. The chicken sandwiches were delicious and the homemade lemonade was wonderfully refreshing. Relaxed, quiet atmosphere, friendly staff, and everything was clean. Small patio, but great vibe. Definitely coming back!

The chicken tastes like if an American style and Korean style fried chicken had a baby, then this place serves that. There is a lot of Umami and seaweed flavored throughout the menu so unless you want to taste the ocean 2 hours after dinner keep those flavors balanced. A bit pricey considering one of our guests was vegan gluten free. Cucumber salad with mustard seeds was tasty as was the eggplant skewers.
