Café De Linde in Oude Stad

They refused to split the bill for a table of seven, claiming it would be "too much work." They were quite pushy about it, and with such high prices, you'd think they could afford decent software to split the bill. There are plenty of other restaurants, in the same or even lower price ranges, where you don't have to beg to split the bill. It's clear they can create bills at will in seconds if you play along with their charade, so I'm not sure exactly what their intentions are, but it seems somehow fraudulent. I'm glad we didn't order food, anyway.

The drinks arrived quickly and the service was friendly, until we wanted to pay and that was not possible separately, the service then became rude and said that it was too much work, they said they were not an administration office while there were only four tables and small groups. If you want a friendly atmosphere, go to Café de Vijfhoek.

We've been coming here for the ribs for years! It's a cozy place. The ribs are tasty, not top-notch, but I wouldn't expect that with all-you-can-eat. The young staff is truly fantastic; such lovely people and great people. They really know how to run a business. Thanks, guys! 👌 Unfortunately, we had a setback with the boss (the bald guy). We decided to order ribs, and they were delicious. After the third order, our 8-month-old baby started crying and screaming. We decided to go home because the baby wouldn't stop crying, so we asked the kind waiter if we could take our ribs home, which was no problem. I went to pay the bald guy. Both the waiter and I got a scolding: "What are you thinking?" "You're not allowed to take ribs home at all," "This is absolutely unacceptable," "We're not going to do that again," "You can take them, but I don't want any more!!" I was driving home with my wife in the car, and then I drove back to this place to return the ribs to the bald boss and have a chat with him. I don't want the ribs at all, and especially not with such an antisocial tone. He can shove it up his ass. Tip for the bald guy: stay home because you can't run a business. Unfortunately, we won't be back, but as he already said, he doesn't care ;-)

We had to wait for more than 1 hr to get our food. Not exactly fun with hungry children. No apologies, no explanation, nothing. We were kinda ignored. Food was nothing special. Never again.

It took one hour to get food served. Drinks were served quickly but that was only positive point. Food was poorly made, not even mediocre. I would not recommend going here for food ever. Perhaps maybe just for drinks at night.

The all you can eat spareribs were very disappointing, they had no taste and we were not asked at all when we had finished our plate and glass if we wanted anything else to eat or drink.

I went to this place with my family for lunch. After waiting more than 40 minutes, they brought us the rotten meat burger that smelled bad. After claiming the waiter told us it was our problem because as far as he was concerned, the meat was fine. The waiter demanded payment for the rotten meat, treating us all extremely rudely and pointing us in the direction of the exit door.

Terrible and disturbing experience. We were served a hamburger that smelled and tasted spoiled, so we sent it back immediately. Instead of apologizing or checking it properly, the staff insisted the burger was fine and blamed my partner’s mother, saying she was wrong rather than the food. What made it even worse is that a staff member touched the burger with his bare hands, tasted it from our plate, and then tried to give it back to us to eat, still claiming it was good. Completely unhygienic and unacceptable. When we asked for the burger to be removed from the bill, the waiter (possibly the owner) started shouting at us in front of everyone and made threatening remarks toward my partner, suggesting a physical confrontation outside the restaurant. Mistakes can happen. This level of aggression, denial, and lack of basic hygiene and professionalism cannot.

We had lunch with my family. Poor food, over 30 minute wait with the place half empty. Extremely arrogant and ignorant waiter, absolutely unfriendly. This restaurant is definitely to be avoided.

I came today with my family for the first time, we ordered 4 dishes including a hamburger and an omelet. The hamburger was taken by my mother who after waiting half an hour to have the dishes didn't like the flavour of the burger, we all tasted it and we all found it strange, also in my omelet they were wrong and instead of the speck they put raw beef carpaccio.. Anyway we told the waiter that the hamburger was not good and that we didn't want it, at that point the waiter started to make an incredible scene, he said that the hamburger was perfect and that there was no problem, then he tasted it and went back saying that it was my mother who had problems and not the Hamburger. We kept calm and kept quiet, but when we went to the counter to pay we found the sandwich in the bill, so at that point I explained to the colleague of the previous guy what had happened, she started saying that the sandwich was perfect and that we had to pay, but really with a very ugly tone, at that point the other guy (the one who offended my mother) started yelling at us in front of everyone in the middle of the place. We started fighting heavily because he kept saying that we had problems and that everything was fine, he started to offend us and take us with bad words that I won't repeat. We almost hit each other because of the gravity of the situation. There is no such thing as a customer being treated in this squalid and disrespectful way, it absolutely does not exist. We felt really bad especially because it was Christmas Eve and they completely ruined our day. I strongly urge you to avoid this place not for the food but for the people who work there and for how people are treated. Shame.

Everything was perfect! The most delicious pea soup and the best burger ever! The burger was fantastic with delicious fresh bread. Highly recommended!!

Extremely unprofessional and unfriendly staff! I asked about specific ingredients due to allergies, and the staff snapped that there was absolutely no gluten in them. After receiving the food, it turned out to contain gluten, with all the consequences. This was completely unsympathetic and I was ridiculed, being told not to eat out...

What a jerk of a guy, he wanted to grab a simple burger and water with a friend because it was a Thursday and nothing special, just a nice meal. Then the owner came over to ask if we were dogs and he was serving water to dogs or people on medication. We got into a mouth fight and walked out because it was a crappy place. A complete jerk, even though we just wanted something to eat. Not recommended.

Me and friend visited this cafe for having a nice dinner and drink something. But instead of enjoying the food we got into fight with staff there. We’ve ordered two beers, just a normal pills, but the taste of it was really sour, like something was wrong with that. We’ve asked waiter about this and he went to ask his boss, or barman, I don’t know who was he, and return with an answer that how it’s supposed to taste, cause it’s just a kind of beer like that. We said okay, but he saw on our faces that we’re not satisfied with that taste, so he proposed just to change it for another one, with what we were absolutely happy. But something that happened next minute was just shock for us. The guy that were sitting there, another employee of that restaurant or boss, just stand up from his place and come back to our table with our glasses and literally start scream on us in front of all restaurant and costumers that were there, that this beer is normal, and it supposed taste like that, and that they not gonna change anything and if we wanna something different we have to pay. So we just cancelled our steaks and pay for two glasses of beer that we had, and that we left on the table. I was working in restaurant before and I know that this kind of attitude is not normal in any cases of life, but also with your costumers!!! The waiter was really nice, thanks to him that he was trying to make it up for us and apologising for that kind of behaviour, but this guy was something else. Thank you for ruining mood and yelling at us❤️

The bavette was beautifully tender, the spare ribs were okay. Spicy wasn't that spicy. The spare ribs were nicely replenished. Plenty of beers, both on tap and in bottles. It's a relaxed atmosphere.

Delicious food! Super friendly service! The pork tenderloin with Madeira sauce was truly tender. We'll be back soon.

Very good burger and very tasty fish and chips in downtown Haarlem. The service is good, the waitresses are nice and welcoming. Beer was cold. The toilet was clean, but I missed the soap... maybe next time...

The food was fine, but the waiter was so rude to us when he knew that I had reserved through Social deal. Bad experience actually and I will not go back there again. He shouted and said to me that I decide what you get first the soup or the main meal for my guest and I felt so ashamed. I told him it doesn't matter, I'll pay extra for you even though I ordered from the menu and was shouting again. I also ordered tea and I also said that I'm going to pay for everything, take it easy. He said yes, you will pay for your tea anyway. So rude and unbelievable.

A place where people who enjoy reach, extremely delicious breakfast, must go if they happen to be in Haarlem's center. Coming from Germany, the prices for the quality and quantity of food, looked very fair The lady staff was very helpful and polite. The food was rated 10/10 from us all 4 friends who visited the cafe yesterday 13-04-2025. Surely, a place I'd recommend. Enjoy!

Zeer onbeschoft personeel!! Bij binnenkomst eerst een stoel aan de kant gezet die vol kattenharen zat. Na een broodje carpaccio te hebben gegeten vroeg de serveerster of het gesmaakt had, ik gaf aan dat het niet bijzonder was, De serveerster draaide gelijk om qua humeur en zei wat een dom antwoord en liep naar binnen. Ik liep naar binnen om af te rekenen. Ik vroeg waarom zei zo klantonvriendelijk reageerde en ze zei dat ik een dom antwoord gaf? Ik werd dom genoemd, ik gaf aan haar zeer klantonvriendelijk te vinden en niet geschikt voor de horeca, en gelijk.kwam er een donkere collega bij staan en zei je bent gewoon een t rut??? Ik zei de baas te willen spreken maar deze medewerker gaf aan dat zijn baas hem de beste medewerker vind vandaar een score van 3.5 op internet zeker. Bij het weglopen naar de keuken riep deze collega ook nog eens kijk eens naar je uiterlijk?? Ik heb dit nog nooit meegemaakt uitgescholden worden door 2 medewerkers die overduidelijk niet klantvriendelijk zijn en ronduit onbeschoft. Als je niet tegen kritiek kan moet je niet vragen of het heeft gesmaakt

Had a great meal here, the service is fast. The food is super tasty and good portions that keep you full, something you don't get everywhere. The prices are also good for Hardje Haarlem and for what you get. There is also a wide choice of beer, all fresh from the tap, with 15 choices. We had the spareribs and the schnitzel and we certainly enjoyed them, definitely recommend them!

Dear Bernardus Germanicus. (see photo) Hopefully you read this. Unfortunately, you were so drunk that evening that I came to the table to ask if you wanted something to drink. You ordered... as I understood it because you couldn't come up with anything clear anymore... a lime blonde. This lime blond was also placed at your place... you didn't say anything... more than half an hour later you ask where your lime burger is. Then it became clear to us that in your unclear scribble you meant a burger instead of beer. The pity then was that we actually apologized... we still ordered the burger and you then constantly started licking an 18-year-old female colleague. You dared to do that in a drunken mood. Even so bad that you would set the timer for 1.5 minutes and if your food wasn't there you would walk away without paying. This was the 3rd time you gave this kind young lady who couldn't do anything about it a big mouth. So yes indeed... you no longer had to pay your bill of 111 euros. And never come back again. Hope your hunger has been satisfied by now.

What a horrible crappy place! You order something to eat and then it doesn't arrive. You will still get an apology from the staff, but then it will take another hour! If you then express your frustration and irritation to the service staff, we, myself and a friend who had nothing to do with it, get a scolding from the owner of the tent with the message that you are never welcome again. I don't even want to go to such a horrible café where they apparently treat guests like that! Feel treated like a criminal! Really an incredibly worthless tent! Whether I am welcome there or not, they will never see me there again! By the way, I'm still hungry, thank you anti café de Linde! See you never again!

Just very cozy and tasty and enough. If you are thinking about your calories, or feel full quickly, share your dish. They don't make a fuss about it. If not, have the super tender “all you can eat spare ribs!”. Not only truly an “all you can eat,” but also very tasty. Or a healthy daily meal of fish with vegetables. And super nice people to help you with your drink or your music! Secretly ask for your favorite 80s song! I would say visit more often at the end of the evening!

The place in Haarlem that you want to go to, situated on the botermarkt, a wonderful place with, on market days fresh fish, bread, fruits and cheese. And most of all the best atmosphere one could want. The Linde is the place with a great menu, the best burgers and expansive beer menu ranging from Flanders up to the south of the Netherlands.

Nacho deluxe is highly recommended!

The bald old waiter literally told me and my friends to leave because he has nothing to offer us. Because we asked for ice coffee. He said on his way out “what is wrong with you”. This man should be fired.

In itself a nice place, but price-quality is out of proportion, you can eat much better elsewhere in the city for comparable prices. The bouncer was tough and clearly had ham and cheese which was not fresh, so it was a disappointment. Nice covered terrace 👍

We had eaten here before with Social Deal vouchers. Was fine then. Yesterday I tried to make a reservation but it didn't work so I asked today when we wanted to eat a sandwich there. The employee didn't know exactly and that's why the owner came to the table and announced that they were going to stop this trouble and that they were only allowing 8 SocialDealers per day. "Otherwise I won't earn anything at all, do you know what the profit margin is? So today I'm already at my max, otherwise there would only be receipts in here." I said I was just asking and he became increasingly irritated and said I had already called about that too. It wasn't, so that really didn't feel good. The approach was downright insulting. You have entered into business with SocialDeal yourself and the customer should never suffer as a result. It's that I'm not really mobile otherwise I would have left immediately. What an approach. Downright bad and disparaging behavior towards customers. They don't see me there anymore.

The spareribs were okay, but nothing special. Received the wrong flavor with the second round of spareribs. The sweet spareribs didn't have much flavor (the only ones I've had). The iced tea I ordered came from a bottle that was on the bar (Lipton bottle, one from the supermarket), not cooled and from which the sting had now disappeared. The full 3.50 was charged for that.

I went specifically for the spare ribs, but there was no crunch or taste, the second round I ordered the Hot but it tasted exactly the same as the BBQ And they were fat. Too bad.

We could sit here quietly and have a beer on a Saturday evening. Nice to see that they have several home-brewed beers. Such as the 'Green Elixir of Life'

The atmosphere is very cozy. The staff is pleasant at the table when they come to take the order. They make a joke and add to the atmosphere at the table. Nice extensive beer list. Unlimited spare ribs. They were just good. Had a nice evening. Definitely back again.

Wednesday January 31 in the afternoon between 2 and 3 pm at Café De Linde on the Botermarkt, the two of us had tea with bouncers and apple pie. Helped by a very attentive young man at the counter. Correct, polite and personable as it should be. Fortunately, they are still there... an asset to the atmosphere in every cafe/restaurant. Very pleasant. Kudos to the young man!

January 12, 2024. Just had a social deal lunch at this cafe. Great reception, good food. Highly recommended.

Nice place, but terribly ungrateful staff. Had to wait a long time for the order. Were completely ignored when we wanted to order some drinks. Mega arrogant attitude as soon as you ask a question. Once and never again...

1e keer hier en ook bij toeval daardoor niet mogelijk om een goede reactie achter te laten. Lijkt wat op een buurtcafeetje .

Er werd plaats gemaakt voor ons groepje (we hadden niet gereserveerd) het was overal erg druk in de stad en in de kroegen ivm de kerstmarkt. We werden snel, goed en leuk geholpen. Het personeel was vol humor ondanks dat ze het razenddruk hadden. Het was een geweldige afsluiting van een top-optreden in de stadsschouwburg met collega's. Alle lof en bedankt!

Afgelopen zondag met 11 man gegeten. Zalig!!!! Vreselijk gezellig, leuk personeel. Kortom top verzorgd 👍

Ik als Bourgondische Brabander ben lekker eten gewend. Maar dit slaat echt alles. Fantastische mix-grill en varkenshaaspuntjes kwam er op tafel. Verschillende biertjes in overvloed. Ook het personeel (wat voldoende aanwezig was)is kei gezellig en ontzettend kundig. Het is dat je maar 5 sterren kunt geven maar ze verdienen er zeker 10.

Prima eten, sfeer uitstekend net als de service.

Leuke tent. Al vaker hier een borrel gedaan en gegeten. Veel keuze aan speciaal bier. Vriendelijke bediening. Goede kwaliteit voor een schappelijke prijs! Bavette stond als special op het bord vanavond, hij was top! Tot de volgende keer 👍

Heerlijk geluncht in centrum van Haarlem. Goede prijs-kwaliteit.
