Café De Prins in Jordaan

We ordered coffee and regular pancakes and it was very tasty.

Rude, we had to pay more because we were not allowed to stay with more people on a “busy evening” (us plus 4 people in the snack bar) sharing fries with each other.

We had the cheese fondue, was very tasty, though the portion a bit on the small side. But good nonetheless!

Best service and amazinggggg Gluhwein! No better spot to get out of the AMS cold.

I liked Café de Prins a lot – but don't let the name fool you. It's less of a traditional café and more of a quaint bar. The atmosphere is cozy and down-to-earth, no-nonsense. Particularly positive: The Dutch bar specialty, bitterballen, was very tasty. The beer selection is extensive, including many craft beers. Excellent value for money, especially considering the location directly across from the Anne Frank House. Service & Atmosphere: The staff is friendly and uncomplicated, but more of a "shirtsleeve" style – not high-class service, but relaxed and casual. If you know that and are looking for a relaxed bar, you'll be in good hands here. Conclusion: A lovely place to enjoy a beer in a central location and try typical Dutch snacks. Not particularly elegant, but authentic and with fair prices.

Upon arrival we were served by a nice lady, a moment after ordering a gentleman came who looked like a homeless person, smelled of alcohol and did not look like an employee of this branch. The gentleman came up to us, started speaking to us in a language we did not understand, then started shouting at us in English to get out of his bar, that he was the owner. We were really surprised and disgusted, we did not understand at all what was happening. At arrival we were served by a nice lady, and even after our order came a gentleman inside who looked like a homeless person, smelled of alcohol and did not know if he was an employee of this branch. The gentleman came up to us, started talking to us in a language we did not understand and started shouting in English to tell us that we had to leave his bar, while he said that he was the owner. We were really surprised and disgusted, we did not understand at all what was happening.

Service was initially slow, likely due to numbers of people arriving at same time. Food and beer was very good. Had the steak & frites with glass of the Jopen IPA.

A lovely selection of beer, quick service, right next to a canal with typical Amsterdam feels! What else does one what? Well, one could always want some Bitterballen and fries- which one got! What a lovely way to spend the evening!

Vibes abound in this quintessential brown pub. The no frills approach to imbibing adequately enhanced by the approachable staff and friendly locals that frequent this sultry haunt. Definitely stop in for a pint and stay for a few. EDIT: We have since had our post-wedding brunch here and it was amazing. Wouter and the staff were all incredibly accommodating and the event went perfectly. Another plus in the column for CDP.

Super nice experience in this place. The waitresse. She was super nice. Next to her was a super nice barman. I think he was called Taceo. What a great place. Really recommend. Cute dishwasher.

I happened to stop by this cafe for lunch while passing by. The staff were all friendly and helpful. They offer a variety of draft beers, soups, sandwiches, and more. The location is also great.

Excellent location in the heart of the city. Opposite the Anne Frank House Museum. Friendly and fast service. Great for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a beer. Good value. I was there years ago and liked it. I returned with my family and they loved it.

The name of the store "Café De Prins" may be taken from the fact that it is located next to the Prinsengracht. The store has a small front, and the environment inside is friendly and pleasant. There is also a small bar, which seems to be suitable for a drink during the day (the store is open in the afternoon). The signature Prinsburger ordered this time looks like a typical burger at first glance, but every part of the burger is simply good. The fries are cooked to perfection, the ingredients are fresh and refreshing, the burger meat is not over-seasoned and has a special aroma, and the bread is crispy and soft. It is a really satisfying and satisfying burger. The store is diagonally opposite the Anne Frank House, and the two are separated by the Prinsengracht and a small bridge. Perhaps this is why I saw many (American) tourists in the store during this visit. They say that Café De Prins is delicious and conveniently located, and it is indeed a very suitable dining choice before or after visiting Anne Frank Huis. Recommended.

Old place where locals and tourists mingle because it is in front of Anne Frank's house. At night it is quieter. The food is good and so are the beers. Unbeatable location. Order the fondues!

Ran into this place out of the rain, atmosphere looked really nice, which it was! We enjoyed the liveliness and vibe. We stuck to starters because we wanted to try some Dutch snacks. The bitterballen (in photo) were delish! We were confused by the spring rolls but maybe that’s a thing? We also had kaastengels (cheese filled sticks) that were tasty but would’ve liked more of those. Had some local Dutch beers that were tasty. We did have to specifically ask for silverware and napkins after being served which we thought was interesting. The service wasn’t great, but everyone was kind. Solid spot to pop into for a quick bite

Super tasty BLTC sandwich. (bacon, lettuce, tomato, chicken) with mustard mayonnaise. My daughter had a goat cheese sandwich, roasted vegetables, balsamic syrup and pine nuts, also super tasty. Recommended Inside is simple, flowers in beer bottle, candle in iron ring, wooden cafe chairs and long sofa, just cozy

We had a table reservation but it doesn’t matter… when we arrived they said there is no free table. At 9pm (Friday) we had to find another restaurant which was impossible… The waiters are arrogant! I have never experienced before!! Avoid this bar if you want to have great Amsterdam experience!

Comida increíble en este pequeño café cerca de donde estábamos alojados en Amsterdam, en realidad recomendado por el chico de nuestra tienda de alquiler de bicicletas, Bike City. Pregúntale siempre a un local. Tuvimos un delicioso (enorme) aguacate, tocino, sándwich de club de pollo y una tortita salada con queso de cabra, manzana y tocino! Servicio muy rápido. ¡Y amigable! El propietario ha estado allí 27 años! Muy recomendable

A very nice café with a nice atmosphere to enjoy a drink (beer, hot chocolate, etc.) with very reasonable prices! There are small candles on the table which create a cocooning atmosphere! Very friendly staff! Recommended by the Routard Guide!

Has been one of my favourite cafés since 2015, love that everything stays consistent. Great hot chocolate and pancakes especially 🍂✨ made a playlist of this place that’s how important it is 🥹

Bad experience. The service is terrible and slow. You literally have to order the bare minimum like cutlery. Anyway, I won't be back and I don't recommend it.

Cervecería en zona de Jordaan, siempre llena, donde se sirven platos informales que se bajan con una buena cerveza....o dos. Estuvimos en la barra y tuvimos las suerte de coincidir con un camarero que hablaba español y un cliente que también lo chapurreaba y fue todo muy ameno y divertido, claro. No te dejes hueco para el postre...salvo sorpresa que no hubiera contemplado es una cervecería

We found this cafe while wondering around Amsterdam and it was the first place we were able to try out Bitterballen. We loved it!! We ordered two sandwiches, beers and the Bitterballen and it was a comfortable spot to sit and rest for a few while receiving great service.

The service was VERY slow, meaning we waited a LONG time until our order was taken and we had to call the waiter, I even had to grab a menu myself and other customers too, the portions were small, however the food was good. Would I come back? Probably not.

Good for beers but very average for food. We have been visiting here on and off for the last 20 years, but this visit will be our last for food. Very average, as if not really prepared by a chef. No specials, and food that seems to be created from jars of sauce. Maybe the chef had the Saturday night off? Used to be a buzzing place, but not this time.

The bar is very old, but very characteristic. Cleaning is terrible. The staff could do a lot more. Not to mention the toilets and the view you have in the kitchen. Dirty tables and glasses.

I really like the atmosphere of the place , so cool and trendy . Whenever I look around there was some cool stuff and details catching my attention. Great for aperitif. A bit slow service, they forgot my order so they brought the food to my friend and had to remind them about mine. Staff is nice and friendly, young like most of the places in Amsterdam. Great food and lovely servers! The restaurant an indoor seating area and cute outdoor seating by the canal. Compared to other pancake places the prices are much more affordable. Also a wide arrange of foods and drinks to please everyone.

We had a reservation for dinner. However, we finished a drink but the waitress never returned to wait on us. She only came around to exchange the lunch menus for dinner menus.

Called in for lunch while walking around Amsterdam. We sat on the tables outside the café along the canal. Service was prompt and there was a reasonable range of sandwiches, toasties etc and with a glass of beer it made for a pleasant lunch. We were asked to pay when the food was delivered probably, they had had guest leave before without paying.

Super location, tables are both in the cafe, across the road and by the canal. Great food and freshly prepared desserts. Very good coffees. Prices are also really good for Amsterdam. It is also extra enjoyable in sunny weather. A place to visit again and again.

No one ever took our food order after we already had our drinks. The blond woman even came to our table, didn't even look at us, and took the menu from our table to give it to another customer.

Haven't eaten, but had coffee in "our" café for over 30 years. Right in the heart of Amsterdam opposite the Westertoren and the Anne Frank museum.

Nice, cozy atmosphere in the sort of place if you were walking by quickly on the street, you might miss it. Enough snacks and drink options to make it a nice time out from a busy day of being out and about.
