Café Keppler in Volewijck

That you can’t even take 30 seconds to warm up a baby’s food in the microwave is really very sad… The waitress said there was “no time” for it. Where is the humanity?

My favorite café in Amsterdam. Delicious breakfasts and lunches, and perfect for drinks. The coffee is fantastic.

The place was crowded, but everyone waited so we could enter in Arabic, which I really loved. The service was great, and there wasn't an English menu, but they translated everything for us. The sourdough and croissants were delicious.

Cozy café, delicious coffee, and great lunch options. A lovely family atmosphere, with lots of families with young children. Very friendly service. A bit on the expensive side, but everything was delicious. I would definitely come back!

The worst place where I had breakfast in Amsterdam. Rude service and absolutely no understanding of what hospitality means. There is no option to order extra eggs or add ham to an egg breakfast, or even add eggs to a sandwich - only as a separate item, which makes it impossible to balance the meal. Their argument was: ‘we don’t do personalized orders.’ The question is: is simply adding an extra ingredient really personalization, or is it an upsell and an opportunity for the business to earn more? What’s most surprising is that, knowing my preferences and what I wanted, the waitress didn’t even try to suggest any alternatives. Instead, she continued to behave aggressively. Oh, and if you want to get coffee to go — that’s impossible as well. They don’t have takeaway cups

The atmosphere is great but costs went up and product inflation is clearly happening. (eg. Usage of products and dishes are lower in volume than before ) Such a shame as this is hollowing out the great place Keppler used to be.

Local cafe in residential area north of Ij. Great coffees , spirits and food. Had apple cake for afternoon tea then cheese omlette with mayo/mustsard bread. Lovely vibe and people. No smoking.

Such a bohemian place. Recycled furniture and stuff. Nice place overall, I had breakfast there.

A charming café run entirely by young women, with a small bakery attached. Excellent baked goods. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended!

I found this spot the same day I was leaving Amsterdam. I wish I has discovered it sooner! I had a toast with cheese and eggs, a cinnamon roll and two coffee cups. Everything was amazing. I could notice this place was a locals’ favorite, no wonder why. Perfect place if you’re looking for quality coffee and food.

I discovered Café Keppler in Amsterdam Noord, and it was a pleasant surprise. The atmosphere is cozy, with good service and an authentic local vibe. Although the café is known for dishes like shakshuka, sandwiches, and breads from their own bakery, for me the real show-stopper was the portie friet. The fries were crispy, tasty, and accompanied by a special sauce that was simply magical—it's definitely worth trying! It's also a great place to take a break between bike rides, especially with a cold beer. I definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Amsterdam Noord.

We ordered a burger, coffee, and received a salad as a compliment! Excellent service from Isa! Everything was very tasty! I recommend it to everyone!

It's REALLY cozy here. I just want to spend the whole day drinking flutes and just looking around. I've never eaten here, but everything looks really delicious, so I'll have to try that soon.

Super nice place Good coffee, pastries, and air dishes The service is so slow; it takes ages to order. Then it takes even longer for the coffee to arrive. If you want a second coffee, order it a bit later when you get the first. It's a real shame, because the rest is great.

Best coffee spot in North. Keppler is a great combination of good (filter) coffee, delicious homemade pastries, and a cozy atmosphere. The Kepplertjes are a favorite. We also always get fresh sourdough bread here.

Good food but their closing times don’t follow the Google displayed times so bit of a waste of my time if I head over to find they actually close in 30mins instead of 1.30hrs and they don’t serve anything except beers.

Had a very nice lunch today. Fresh and very good quality ingredients. Especially within a very nice atmosphere. A bit on the expensive side, even for Amsterdam standards.

We stopped on a Sunday afternoon and ate in the outside area. The service was excellent as was the soup of the day (lentil) and a vegan pesto sandwich of the day. So delicious I couldn't stop talking about it.

poor service, let you order first and then indicate that you are not allowed to sit with a laptop, then the coffee cannot be taken to go. edit on Keppler's response: my laptop was already on the table before I ordered. So your staff could have indicated this in advance instead of letting me order first. In addition, I can't smell that there is no coffee to go ;). Calling a review useless is quite unprofessional. I think your yuppie cafe is more of a useless addition to North.

I like this store very much! Breakfast is simply great! 👍 but the Crossaint are from another star 🌟 very very very tasty 😋 and handmade. Great crew

If only locals had been here once. What we had eaten, steak, was more fat than meat. Looked like French highway restaurant food. The lettuce was sour, also like in France. Mayonnaise was home made, sour and doesn't look like normal mayonnaise. Fries were fine. Cheese fondue is ok but not great. Goose bitterballen contained oil, so it was too greasy. The mushroom one was tasty. For the rest it's a nice place, but don't expect much in terms of food.

The size of the coffees on the menu does not correspond to their original size. I have never seen an Americano the size of an espresso.

The card is misleading so you get something different than expected. If you write 'mackerel sandwich' with smoked mackerel on your card, you would think you would actually get a piece of smoked mackerel. Unfortunately this was mackerel salad on a slice of bread, a choice I would not have made if I had known this. The rest of the dishes were also not tasty. The chowder was far too watery and had little taste. When we spoke to the staff we received a short and sharp answer.

Do you want quality for your money? Definitely don't come to this tent. A full tent and the food is extremely bad. We ordered pea soup and a smoked mackerel sandwich. It made absolutely no sense. No smoked mackerel to be seen and the chowder seemed to have been diluted with a lot of water. No taste and you pay a lot for it. Just too brazen for words that they dare to serve this.

Good bread, nice coffee and always cheerful service. Nice living room atmosphere - whether you come for lunch together or just read the newspaper.

We have been living in Amsterdam-Noord for several years and are trying out the cafes and restaurants so that we can support our neighborhood. We also came to Keppler for breakfast. Assuming that we live in 2024 and there is a certain awareness regarding living more consciously, we asked for the vegan options. To our surprise they didn't have a single vegan option, nothing, nada!! What a disappointment! They also didn't bother to see what was possible (a jam sandwich?) A big, fat 1 star, because of the unfriendly climate. veganism.

Exactly what you expect from an Amsterdam neighborhood café. Delicious coffee and simple, but very tasty sandwiches.

A very nice place for gourmet breaks, a lovely team, delicious dishes and drinks, a warm welcome... We will come back during our next stay, and we wish the entire Keppler Kafe team the best.

A bit cold and expensive, but tastefully decorated. Chairs not really comfortable and you are not allowed to use your laptop.

Nice place and tasty lunch and snacks, but what poor service! We were completely ignored several times even after raising our hands and shouting, but to no avail. The order also took an unnecessarily long time to arrive even though the terrace was not full at all. Next time, sit with the neighbors.

Really the best breakfast place in the city, everything I tried was exceptionally delicious, best shakshuka, ginger tea and coffee. And all these plus a very friendly service and no queue at the entrance. Highly recommended.

As a born Amsterdammer, always living within the canal belt and recently moved to Overhoeks, I ended up here and what a relief this place is... the mix of guests, young and old, so not predominantly students from Moov and bordje, no laptops, already make me a regular guest here. really nice

Love this place and the atmosphere: the food is really good, people of all ages come, there is enough space to move around and have your own chat, staff is friendly.

Terrible cafe. There is a nasty atmosphere, the service is very arrogant. Orders are forgotten to be brought to the table. Not a napkin or skewer to be seen with the snacks and fries, after which the chef told us that we could eat it with our hands. In short, this tent is not recommended!

Tolles Café und super Frühstück, eher Locals drinnen, was ein sehr gutes Zeichen ist!!

Een aanwinst voor de buurt. Het personeel is geweldig, altijd een glimlach. De koffie is goed en de worteltaart en de croissants zijn goddelijk. Ze draaien ook heel fijne muziek, niet te hard, gewoon op de achtergrond zoals het hoort. Je kan er op je gemak alle kranten lezen. Een echt buurtcafe met moderne twist en ouderwetse sfeer.

Cafe Keppler is an excellent Cafe in Amsterdam North, especially for relaxing on the weekend. A chill atmosphere, with simple and cozy decor. The food is good and the dishes are fresh. Possibility of enjoying outdoor spaces during sunny days.
