Café 't Monumentje in Jordaan

For my Chilean friends, and if you happen to have eaten coffee 🍄, I swear it's the best place to have some tea and feel safe to enjoy the experience 10/10!! The person who served us was very kind, they immediately understood what we were up to, which made the trip more fun. The atmosphere is very welcoming, the bathroom is clean, and the neighborhood is safe, so seriously, go check it out ☺️ See you next year 💜👍🏻.

Bar Het Monumentje in the Jordaan is my Amsterdam pilgrimage. Two (or three) small glasses of oude jenever, a nod to the bartender, and I slip away for years. Yet every return feels like yesterday, warm, familiar, alive with the true scent and REAL soul of old Amsterdam. Unmissable.

Hyper-local pub that we tumbled into on Christmas Day, one of the few places open for business. Friendly bartender, charming environment, good beer. Even grilled ham and cheese toasties to take the chill off!

An authentic brown cafe in a beautiful location that is still accessible to non-regular guests. This is where I take all my foreign visitors for a real brown cafe experience. Service and atmosphere are always top notch here.

Super charming mini-bar, literally. This café barely fits 20 people, yet still the locals seems to have found a small extra home here. Really enjoyed how local old people flocked to this place to have a chat. Definitely worth a visit just to experience a bar this small and cosy. Do have a nice drink menu as well!

The place on Westerstraat to have a drink. Here you are still among the people in a cozy pub. Bartender is skilled and doesn't skim German beers, it's the little things that matter to him.

Great atmosphere in this iconic brown bar.

Ideal spot for a cozy drink inside during the cold months. Not ideal for large or loud groups, great for intimate moments with loved ones.

A Jordaan icon with a timeless soul and unique atmosphere, a vibrant centre and an institution of day and night life for generations. Here you will meet locals of all ages. You can bump into students playing chess and backgammon, as well as listen to the anecdotes of the neighbourhood's elders. Ingrid, the owner, will make sure that every wish is fulfilled.

Great small local bar. Been there 50 years! Must check it out. The streets around this bar also are different than the others closer to the district. Definitely a stop when I come back.

Het interieur is aan elkaar gelijmd met nicotine. Dus een bruine kroeg. Matige service, matige koffie. Appeltaart was lekker.

Sehr nette urige Kneipe/Café mit angenehmer Atmosphäre und super Bedienung. Abseits der Tourimassen mit vielen Einheimischen und deutlich günstigeren Preisen. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Very sweet vibe and very friendly stuff. Prices are actually super fine as well. Spent two afternoons in a row over here just chillin outside and watching the people of Amsterdam passing by.

Sweet little pub. The server very kindly put together an array of snacks for us when she heard we hadn't had dinner yet (it was past 10pm and all restaurant kitchens were closed). Nice array of beers, even with an option for a stout!
