What a lovely little place with such a great story! It’s almost like going back into time! The service was warm and friendly, the IPA beer was fresh and chilled and my cheese and tomato toast was perfect. What’s not to love?

Simple, petit cadre cosi où l’on se sent bien. La patronne vous accueille avec large sourire. Bieres et petite restauration « familiale ». On adore ! Et pour rien gâcher, à quelques pas des musées et en face de l’opéra national. Idéal pour faire un break. Merci

Simple, cozy little setting where you feel good. The owner welcomes you with a big smile. Beers and “family” snacks. We love it! And to spoil nothing, a few steps from the museums and opposite the national opera. Ideal for taking a break. THANKS

I come here regularly + friendly and courteous service + good coffee + tasty mulled wine (could be warmer) + hot ball sandwich and beef sausage recommended + delicious apple pie Only had mulled wine today.

Very tasty food and drinks, nice location with nice indoor and outdoor areas, prices okay, very friendly service, in-house bakery, gladly again...

Great little find on our walk around Amsterdam. Small café but the atmosphere was wonderful and the staff very friendly. Food was amazing and the Coffee strong, just how I like it. Definitely recommend a visit.

Fantastic little corner bar captures the charm of Amsterdam

Fantastic little cafe/pub with great history and atmosphere. We sat outside in the lovely sunshine with a cold beer and some food watching the world go by. Awesome spot.

€11.40 for 3 beers in a plastic cup. A very remarkable situation. We are not used to it like that.

Lovely little pub. I had drinks here. The bartender was so lovely, with a wonderful voice. Could listen to her tell stories all day. Came here with a group and it was fun. Lovely porch area too.

Really nice tiny Dutch bar with bites and ice cold beer on tap. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, helping my friend and I with drinks and directions. Such a cute spot! Definitely recommend.

A lovely little place. Typically XXX! I found one of the best coffee bars by chance, it is not in the area most visited by tourists and it was a surprise. Excellent onion soup and friendly, attentive service.

Was in Amsterdam for a few days and wanted to get as far away from the tourist side of the city as possible, and after checking out a few bars near by, started making my way back to my hotel via a few bars, and one of these was 't Hooischip. Fantastic lively local bar where you can spend much longer than you planned to stay at, as its a great place! Staff are friendly and good beer selection at good prices. If in the area, highly recommend.

It was a challenge to seat our group of 8 thirsty and cold travelers looking for a warm spot before our canal boat tour. But we did. We sat on steps and crunched ourselves on the one 4-topper available. A line formed outside; a testament to its popularity. A very good sign. Unfortunately we were only there for beer, wine, and hot chocolate. We promise to return on our next visit. The menu deserves to be experienced. The staff very friendly and welcoming. Be back!

Stopped by here to get out of the rain. Such a nice friendly atmosphere with a relaxed vibe. Was quite busy when we first went in, but thinned out as people came and went. Would definitely visit again.

Great atmosphere with great beers and cider. The pub is incredibly old fashioned and quaint, beautifully decorated - a great alternative to the usual tourist driven establishments. It was incredibly busy when we visited, we sat outside to begin (unfortunately the outdoor heating didn't work), we then grabbed some seats indoors.

Ik moest wachten voor Carré. Hier nietsvermoedend naar binnen gegaan. Het was druk maar gezellig! De twee dames achter de bar hard aan het werk en reuze vriendelijk. Muziek stond niet te hard.

Just a great place, 20 year's later and I am delighted to say that the same kind and welcoming attitude survives strongly, I was made to feel most welcome and I was traveling solo, so I shared my table with other customers and it was all the better for it, a great evening experience was had, excellent Beers on draught too. Sehr gemütlich, tolles Personal und leckere Getränke. Viel Getränkeauswahl und einige Snacks und kleine Gerichte. Außen sehr schön doch innen noch viel ansprechender.

Very nice brown pub with simple food service. The wine selection consisted of red, white and rose, one of each. So here it is best to be a beer drinker, the wine is good if you skip tasting it. There was a cat indoors which caused my company to have allergic challenges (animals and food do not go together anyway, although animals are never so wonderful). But all in all a pleasant experience due to very pleasant service and lovely premises. Clean and tidy. We were recommended homemade meatballs. It was served in typical sausage bread with mustard and pickles. Ok food for this type of place, a little tasteless.
