Café De Baron Amsterdam in Oude Pijp

What a fantastic place! A truly memorable evening. The staff is incredibly friendly and the atmosphere is wonderful. I'll definitely be back!

After spending 22 years in Amsterdam I’ve experienced many of the delights this city has to offer. From culture to bars and clubs. This is a real gem hidden in a side street of the Pijp. During the summer months it flows out into the street with an ample terrace and then becomes a cosy home from home as the evenings grow darker. The service is top notch with some friendly owners working as a team. The modest food menu is just what you need when you’re in need of a tasty pick me up. Drinks menu is well rounded with an excellent selection of cocktails. And I’m not taking about the cheesy sugary variety that a pub would usually offer, I’m talking classics and made to perfection. If you’re in this part of town I would most certainly advise you to make this a stop along your merry way 😉

I really cannot recommend this place, tried several times and was disappointed every time by very unfriendly service.

Popped in for a drink and really liked the vibe—super relaxed and not too busy. The staff was friendly, and the beer selection was solid with a few local options on tap. Great spot to take a break and unwind for a bit, especially if you’re in the De Pijp area. Definitely the kind of place you could lose track of time just hanging out.

Cute local vibe! Especially for a beer in the afternoon. Once ordered a coffee with oat milk and the waiter gave me shit for it, acting like it was the most weird order, because they do not have oat milk.

We went there as a group, and they would not serve us as a group. We just wanted to have 5 beers and they said just no without a reason it was 22:00. They did not close yet. So I don’t understand.

What a lovely day at Cafe De Baron! The warm hospitality truly made the experience special. The pizza was delicious, and it was heartwarming to be surrounded by such wonderful people to share meaningful conversations my.

I can't post the positive reviews. If people say that Leeuw beer is tasty, then you don't understand good beer. Friendly staff, well my experience is different. For me it is truly a place I will never return to. Amsterdam is great, but this pub is a flop.

We lived a block away for two years and this was our “Cheers” pub. Bas and Deirdre are amazing people who treat Cafe de Baron as an extension of their home. The staff always create a friendly vibe. Michael, Nick and Bas truly believe they could play basketball in the NBA! Johnny (UK) is a fixture at the bar and a great friend and neighbor. Trevor also lives down the street and is a semi-regular. If you are in Amsterdam make Cafe de Baron!

Aways a pleasure to be here. Plenty of beers on draught and bottles too, fingerfood as well. This is one of those little pearls in "the Pijp" (where many places have become too much hipster IMO) with a real authentic feel to it! The people behind the bar are always friendly, helpfull and willing to have a little chat. In the summer there's a big terras outside as well with plenty of seats (and sun too!). Definitely recommend this place for anyone strolling around in de Albert Cuyp area, wheather looking for a nice cup of coffee reading a newspaper, playing a board game or drinking some quality beers!!

Wonderful café with a top beer list and tasty snacks. However, staff wins the main prize, incredible top people with passion and knowledge of the business. My regular shot, 10/10!

As a regular visitor to the Baron, I can only give compliments. The staff lives for the business and has a heart for the cause. Their expertise goes beyond just the menu. They often offer a listening ear so that you as a visitor are REALLY heard! KEEP IT UP @De Baron. I'm proud of you!!!

The atmosphere of the bar was quite lovely but the woman at the bar was quite condescending and rude to us, feeling very uncomfortable and as we were about to order food and more drinks, we felt like we wanted to leave.

Celebrated my 27th birthday here, after two years of drinks every Friday (and Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday). Any kudos you can find, I would like to give to the team. Very good, couldn't be better!

My colleagues and I who work in the area think the Baron is THE best bar in the Pijp and probably ALL of Amsterdam. After a busy working day, this is a wonderful place to relax, eat snacks and drink delicious beers. In addition, we almost forget the most important thing: the staff! The guys (especially Nick) who run this place have a passion for the profession and make you feel at home. Finally a place that is not so overly hip but still remains nice and normal (except for Bas ;))!. This IS and REMAINS our favorite pub that everyone is jealous of.

I decided to meet a friend here. I never sat on this place before. The waiter came to us to ask what we would like to order. Right off the bat, she corrected the way I asked her in English, stating that it was not the right way. I told her kind of joking that I could try in my other mother tongue, but she replied in a cold way that "in this country we speak Dutch or English". It was the first time that this happened to me in a bar. I was kind of shocked by the way she said that to me. I understand that she probably didn't have a good day, but this kind of ruined the atmosphere.

You always have a place here! Awesome vibes and awesome people running it.

zo chill dat dit café in m'n straat is. al die nieuwe hippe tentjes in de buurt zijn allemaal hartstikke leuk en aardig, maar ik ben blij dat de baron nog zo'n authentieke uitstraling heeft. de bediening is altijd heeeeel leuk en het menu is ook goed.

Sitio estupendo para tomar cervezas. Tienen también comida, pero no hemos pedido. Un sitio muy agradable con una amplia carta de cervezas. La atención muy buena.

Lovely place for a good beer. Not too touristy, I went there on saturday evening and it wasnt too crowded. They have a huge selection of drinks which are reasonably priced. The waiter/bartender was very attentive as well! I can recommand it :)

One of my favourite local drinking places in Amsterdam. Great bar tenders with a friendly and welcoming demeanour, cosy and unpretentious place but cool and gezelig. Good drinks selection and great mojitos! Really recommended

Very nice, cozy pub, were you can sit comfortably and enjoy a good drinks and a snack. Lady who works on Sunday is really friendly and gives a good service.

Als je van echte gezelligheid houdt, moet je hier zijn. De enige plek waar een Rotterdammer zich thuis kan voelen in de Pijp. Heerlijke pizza's, goed bier en top bediening. Geen overdreven hip gedoe als in de rest van de Pijp, maar gewoon lekker en gezellig.

Been here a few times. They always have a great selection of craft beer, and the bartenders are super friendly. Last night we also tried one of their pizza’s, which was very reasonably priced (€8,50 IIRC). We were not expecting much, as this place is not a pizzeria of course. But even the pizza turned out to be pretty good as wel! It was exactly what we needed after a few beers. I Will be back again soon 😁

Top café midden in de pijp voor een lekker speciaal biertje op terras of binnen! Fijne bediening en niet zo overvol als sommige tenten in de pijp.

Iedereen kan bier verkopen. Bij De Baron ben je een welkome gast. Mét een goed glas bier voor je ponem! Als kastelein zijnde voel ik mij hier op mijn plek.

Mooie locatie, dicht bij de Albert Cuyp Markt gelegen, het is altijd lekker druk daar.
