A bit overrated. When I arrived, there was a line, but it's true that they serve you quickly. The pace inside is very fast. People come, eat the cake, and leave. It's not a café where you can just sit and enjoy it. That said, the cake is very good, the apple tender and sweet, and the topping crunchy. The cream goes really well with it. I think it's a bit pricey, and the reputation has meant the service isn't very good. The bathrooms were quite dirty.

It arrived almost an hour after ordering. Waiting so long for that famous apple pie and coffee made me think they either split the atom or collected the coffee from the beans and made it from scratch. The toilets are terrible, don't go in if you love me. I expected a place that gets so many tourists to be more organized and clean. It was a complete disappointment. Such low standards are not worth it for this apple pie.

It's hard to find a place. After finding it, we waited about 45 minutes for the order to arrive. Apple pie is brought warm, I definitely think it's overrated, not bad with cream but not worth the wait. It's best not to use the toilets, so you have to wait in line and they're not clean and there are only 2. Don't get caught up in Google ratings and social media marketing. I'm here.

They leave the food outside, the pidgeons eat the rest of the food and touch all the silverware. Not really hygienic. The tart was good

The Apple Tart is delicious. We have no idea what they're doing to these Tarts, but keep it up 🤤. The staff is fantastic.

We were told that Winkel 43 served the best Apple Pie in Amsterdam. It would be hard to argue with this statement as their Apple pie was magnificent. We visited Winkel 43 a couple of times and loved the experience.

It's a 10-15 minute walk from Damrak Street. I went to this place for its apple pie and loved it. Two people can barely eat one pie. The atmosphere is nice. If I go again, I'll go again and definitely try it.

HOW DO THEY MAKE THAT APPLE PIE? I went to the Netherlands for the cheese, for the canals and for, well, the fun. I didn’t, however, expect such a good apple pie. It is close to the main canals and Anne Frank’s house and very easy to get to. There is a wide range of affordable coffee and tea options and as far as deserts go, they have an absolutely stupendous apple pie. The only downside are the toilets which were not particularly clean when I went - they also did not have soap. It is a relatively small place so you may have to wait for a table - I found one quite easy though. Go out of the way, to go here - I don’t even like Apple Pies. But this might change my view on them.

Apple pie is a signature here. The crush is crunchy. The Apple is not too sour and not too sweet which is nice combination.

We were let down by Winkle 43. With its reputation as having the best apple pie in Amsterdam, we’ve had better and didn’t find it worth the wait. We also had lunch which was pretty good. But be prepared to wait. The lines are long and you’ll be waiting even longer to order, for your food, and your check. We asked 3 times for the bill because no one was bringing it for 20 minutes. The couple next to us left because no one was taking their order.

Never got to try their food as we asked twice how we order and both waiters said someone will come to you. They never came but continued to wander around not doing very much. Wasn’t busy so we left very confused.

The apple pie is absolutely delicious – truly exceptional. The place can get very crowded, which affects both the service and the cleanliness of the restrooms. Still, the taste makes it worth it.

A lovely little cafe. The staff are nice and made me feel welcomed. When traveling solo, this is very important to me. I didn't feel rushed while there. The apple pie, heaven in a slice. The latte was the best I've had in a long time. It's much better than a chain coffee shop. I wish I was closer so I could return and enjoy a seat with a slice and a latte. The Ham Tosti was perfect, delicious crusty bread toasted with the most delicious ham and cheese inside. I enjoyed the food so much, I went back one more time before I left Amsterdam. The star of the show for me is the older gentleman in the kitchen chopping up all of the delicious apples used to make the apple pie. Crates and crates. No fancy machine, just him, a knife and a board. Thanks to my tour guide, Florian (Get your guide) for recommding this cafe.

The apple pie was good, but not as crazy as they say. The waiters were very friendly, and the music was good, but there were too many people.

Came at around 7:30pm on a Sunday and ordered one apple pie. We waited for over 30 minutes for our order and asked one of the waitress about our order, since 2 people who arrived later than us already got their order. She gave us attitude and said she will check but did not come back. Eventually we asked a different waiter and he served us immediately. The apple pie was decent but not worth the wait and attitude :)

The pie is great. But It is probably the worst service I have ever experience. The person Who serves tables (in a very un profissional way) is the same Who cleans tables and takes the take away request. It is cutitng a slice of cake and putting on a napken, does not seem difficult for a place that only serves the same thing. This os the “organized” line for pick up. Meanwhile there is a girl walking around that does nothing but inform you Who is responsable for doing everything. Quite uncleaver use of human resources.

The apple pie was absolutely outstanding, truly the best I’ve ever had! The tiramisu was delicate and delicious. Unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by too many pigeons around, overwhelmed staff, and shockingly dirty restrooms. I waited 15 minutes but couldn’t bring myself to use them. Definitely avoid the bathrooms before eating if you want to keep your appetite.

Apple pie is so famous, it is not sooo amazing but really delicious. Servis is little bit slow. Waiter is not so kind. Coffeee was really good. It is little bit far for coming here. Maybe you can find same taste apple pie at another location.

Apple pie is hyped and doesn’t disappoint. Place is small and in demand, lots of vloggers and travellers line up. Establishment can use an upgrade maybe in due course.

I've been there 3 times in different years and it's always the best apple pie ever! The pie is fresh, made the same day, and you can watch the whole process through the window if you sit outside. It's amazing how the quality remains year after year. I recommend ordering it with their hot chocolate!

First of all: the apple pie and tiramisu are extremely delicious, truly exceptional. Everything else leaves a lot to be desired. The staff is completely overwhelmed, there are so many guests wandering around, pigeons fighting over cakes at the tables, etc. The restroom is in a terrible state, and I advise every guest not to use it under any circumstances, because the sight of it will ruin the entire experience. The sign by the restroom apologizing for the conditions doesn't make things any better.

Honestly, I found nothing special about this apple pie with large pieces of apples drowned in cinnamon and a tasteless cookie, the pastry chef in my neighborhood is a thousand times better than the apple pie, the hygiene of the place and the service are very limited...we had to call the waitress several times to order even though there were only a few people already served and we had been at the table for 5 minutes the waitress was a little arrogant at the reception, and to conclude no WiFi 😯😯 personally I do not recommend

It’s a must place to go if you’re in Amsterdam. Staff are friendly and courteous. Apple pie appetizing which is their specialty and their cappuccino is really good too.

Delicious apple pie, toilets a disaster

Great apple pie; the crust was thin and crispy, almost like a speculaas cookie, and the apples inside were warm and juicy. We came at opening time and there were already people! luckily we were apple to get a spot ☺️

The famous apple pie is simple and tasty. The service is lacking tho, we had to ask for a menu 20 mins after being admitted. The place was less than half full and the table next to us waited 20 mins to pay looked equally confused.

I’ve never written a review like this before, but our experience here was beyond disappointing. We waited over 90 minutes for our order. First, we had to find a table ourselves — no one helped us, and several staff members literally told us they couldn’t serve us. We sat at a dirty table that hadn’t been cleared after the previous guest. A staff member only cleaned it after we explicitly asked her to — otherwise, she wasn’t going to do anything. After placing our order, several different waiters came by to “confirm” it again and again, but nothing arrived for ages. We eventually received our cocktail, but the dessert we ordered never came. Meanwhile, three different guests at a nearby table came, ordered the same dessert, and were all served before us. I finally asked a waiter about our dessert — 10 minutes later, we got it. Then came the struggle to pay. No one brought us the check. We ended up catching a random staff member with a card machine just so we could pay and leave. Horribly disorganized, unprofessional staff, zero communication, and no respect for guests’ time. Save yourself the trouble — I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Soooo I’m from New Hampshire. We take apples, and by extension, apple pie, VERY seriously. I learned my pie recipe from my aunt when I was 10, and have been perfecting it for 2 decades. ChatGPT said Winkel 43 had the best Dutch apple pie in Amsterdam so of course, I had to put it to the test. PASSES WITH FLYING COLORS. Might (and I stress might) be better than my aunts recipe. Tasty espresso as well. Caprese toastie was good, not anything crazy. Great place to land after a redeye for pie and espresso though. 10/10

Good cake for goodness sake, but - for me - not as stratospheric as they say (and I LOVE apple pies). It's not super cinnamony and you can't taste the apples as much, it's just very sugary. €12 for a slice of cake and two iced lattes.

It's all about the apple cake. Come on Saturday and it's a reduced menu but the market is there. Good times.

If Dante were writing The Divine Comedy today, Winkel 43 would surely become a separate circle of hell. Their signature apple pie, praised endlessly by bloggers and taste-blind tourists, was so underbaked it seemed the dough yearned for childhood. An intrusive aftertaste of baking powder instantly transported me back to high school chemistry class, and after just one bite I felt compelled to check the expiration dates—apparently, the baking powder here is older than many of the guests. The staff have perfected the art of forgetfulness. We ordered two coffees but received only one—perhaps the second was supposed to materialize through sheer mental effort. The sandwich might have arrived faster had it been ordered from another city. After half an hour, the waiter brought it cold and just as lonely as our solitary cup of coffee. Two stars—only out of sympathy for the interior, and for confirming once again that popularity does not always guarantee quality.

Try the apple pie with cream and the club sandwich. Servers are all very attentive and friendly busy all day everyday because it's so good.

Popular spot recommended by tourists and locals alike. Mostly popular for its Apple pie (that's not explicitly on their menu). Expect 15-20 min line ups. Given that they are so busy, their service is slow. The Apple pie was very delicious! Different from a traditional, "north american" Apple pie, it has bigger chunks of apples in the middle and the crust has a more biscuit texture (ie crumbly). Definitely a must try when in town! They do have other lunch items on their menu which we didn't get to try.

We made it on our last night in Amsterdam after a big dinner. So glad we saved just enough room for the best dutch apple pie we had during our stay in Amsterdam. Don't skip this on your things too do while your here.

Apple pie was excellent, however main entree i would rate 6 /10. The price for apple pie was very reasonable so long lines to take out or sit down. I suggest someone be in charge of assigning seats.

First, the positives: the apple pie and the hot chocolate were very good. The negatives: long, chaotic lines, the staff are completely overwhelmed, and no one knows what the other waiter is doing. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. After another 20 minutes, we were able to order, and then it took about 30 minutes to get our apple pie. If there was a system, they would ask us what we wanted right away, bring us the pie, and we'd be out again quickly... It's not a cafe where you wouldn't want to sit forever. Saw it once and got caught up in the hype - okay. But I wouldn't recommend it and wouldn't go back. There are certainly other places with just as good apple pie - without the internet hype....

A wonderful apple pie + coffee will give you an infinitely comfortable afternoon. The apples in the apple pie are very big and very unique.
