Delicious food. Super good price, food was tasty and fast, atmosphere was great, very quiet and soon quite empty, but service was very nice, you could see that the team was having a good time together. We were able to make a reservation here on the day itself with a group, which was really nice!

Cafe de Koe was perfection, if you’re into: excellently prepared and inspired dishes; gracefully hardworking, charming, and ever present owner Afke; and a canal house setting (first two floors), with the upper level officially not for dining service, appointed as a bar and live-music venue for after-dinner progression. (If downstairs is full and you are very nice, you might be able to get dinner upstairs—but don’t count on it; much better to make a reservation.) Food is a great variety of fish, meat, and veggie—everyone will find something they love.

Everything is just fine, you can count on that. Good food, good music, good atmosphere, nice people...

Went in for a drink, turns out 15 min after the terrace (translate the overall place) was closing. Nothing was said upon order. No time to appreciate, had to shove a triple beer in front of the bartender within the minute. Still not fast enough it seems, he became incredibly agressive and even physically threatening, after grabbing the glasses from our hands. We didn’t get to finish what we paid for. We think he might have been under influence.

Good Burgers are on the menu. Small mistake on the order but one of the people working in this restaurant offered us to take the unwanted dish for free. Too bad there was no music when we were there.

Delicious food, there was actually no room left. Fortunately we were able to sit at the bar. Super friendly bar man was very helpful to us. Took our appointment at the theater into account. In short, really great.

I was here for lunch. Super fast service. Before you realise it, you are done with lunch. Stater was soup, then came the fish and then the desert. There were potatoes as well. I usually don’t like fish cos of the smell. This was different altogether. It felt fresh and had no smell. I actually ate the whole thing. This was so unlike me. Well done. Only feedback is when u serve the soup - you pour it onto the customer’s plate. Be gentle - in your hurry to get people to eat fast and get out - you will spill the soup on the table or even the customer. That might leave not a pleasant experience for some. Just be gentle and you will be just fine. I am giving you 3 stars cos of your fish. It did taste good. Space was rather tight. Too close for comfort with strangers.

Such a lovely spot! The staff at our hotel recommended this restaurant and so glad they did. We walked their on a whim hungry and jet lagged not expecting much. They had live music upstairs and we sat a floor down. The waitress was so sweet and explained the menu. We ordered a few things and everything was made fresh! Literally right in the visible kitchen. My husband said it was some of the best chicken satay he’s ever had. This place is definitely loved by locals. We were the only Americans in the place (which we prefer haha) The sea Bass, ravioli, and croquette were all delicious!

Had a nice meal with 9 people in a cozy atmosphere and friendly service. Will definitely come back again, very nice to eat here.

Cozy cafe! Good prices, especially by Amsterdam standards. The dishes are quite basic, but very tasty! Would definitely go there again.

Nice restaurant. Very good food spare ribs fell off the bone and steak exactly as requested and very tender. Staff friendly and very attentive.

Spent some time in here everyday we were in Amsterdam. A stones throw from our hotel, it was a pleasure to have a drink here, away from the hustle and bustle of the busy streets and crowded bars. We tended to go in the early evening as it does get busier later. Open till 3am so no need to rush your drink. Toilets were clean and the pub/cafe was very cosy and traditional looking. Great place to have a drink and a bite to eat.. ❤️

Didn't try the restaurant (which is semi-basement), but the bar upstairs was really nice. Excellent welcome, delicious cocktail.

Not my cafe to go to, but the waitresses were extremely friendly. Music she played didn't sound familiar to me!! Just a good place for a drink and then on again!! Coke with a slice of lemon and a pestle is simply served nicely!! You can have a snack there, but I haven't seen a map of what you can order.

Delicious food, excellent service and cozy location

Eating here was the biggest surprise of our stay in Amsterdam. The steak was extremely tasty. The spareribs were super tender. The staff is cooperative and pleasant. The atmosphere is wonderfully Amsterdam. We will definitely come back here when we are in Amsterdam again! Thank you!

Nice café, nice beer on tap (only Bavaria lager is mediocre) and tasty spareribs! The amount of fries/garnishes for the main courses could be a bit more. This was a bit too little.

The music in this place is amazing. You can just sit with a beer and enjoy the tunes and the atmosphere for hours. Would highly recommend if anyone's in the area and wants to avoid tourists. 👍

We stopped in for a drink since Koe was right across the street from our hotel. Great atmosphere with a punk rock vibe. Great music. They have plenty of board games for you to use. Lots of beer options. Friendly service.

De service was uitstekend! Daar kunnen andere horeca zaken heel wat van leren. Ik kan deze plek zeker aanbevelen. Prima eten en je hoeft niet onnodig lang te wachten. Personeel is klantvriendelijk zoals het hoort.

My 75 year old mom and I were returning from a boat cruise (Mokum Boot - just fantastic!) and while crossing the road she tripped and fell and her head was bleeding so I ran - hysterically - into the nearest place to ask if I might use their restroom to wash her wound… and that was De Koe. Staffed by 3 women - cool as cucumbers in the Gin & Tonics in which they specialize) and super helpful. They brought out a first aid kit and helped fix her up. We ordered coffees as a small thanks but … they wouldn’t even take our money. Places like that still exist? Apparently so. The coffee was the bomb and served with stroopwafel 😘😘😘

Just ok. Everything was "fine, " but if it had not been close to the hotel, I wouldn't have gone.

Voor de 2e keer heerlijk gegeten bij de Koe, zowel de steak als de Hamburger zijn fantastisch. Zeer vriendelijk personeel. Een aanrader wij komen zeker terug!!

Wij hadden een heerlijke bietenburger en ravioli en de friet was ook heel goed. We vonden het wel heel lawaaierig en voelden ons als 55+ers niet heel erg op onze plek. Meer een eetcafé voor wat jongere mensen maar handig als je even wat wil eten voor je naar het Nieuwe La Mar theater gaat.

This bar has a nice vibe to it. Chilled atmosphere with a good selection of beers. We had a burger which was very tasty indeed. Recommended.

Café De Koe has been one of my favorite places ever since moving to Amsterdam. The menu is small but great and the quality of the food is outstanding on a regular basis. You must get the shared fries, spareribs are amazing with the meat falling of the bones. The service is very friendly and casual. All in all a very down to earth place where you‘ll always guaranteed to have a good night.
