Delicious Surinamese food! From the outside, it looks like just a cafe for drinks, but once you step inside, they have a menu at the bar with delicious Surinamese dishes.

Don't be put off by the tough guys sitting in the café and on the terrace: this is a hidden gem when it comes to Surinamese-Creole cuisine!! The menu changes daily and offers a variety of dishes, some of which are almost impossible to find in regular Surinamese restaurants and are often only prepared in family/friends' circles. Think of dishes such as moksi alesi's (djarpesi, salmon, cod, masoes) but also peanut soup and vegetables such as sopropo. Café L.A distinguishes itself from other restaurants by serving tasty Creole dishes. The portions are generous and come with deliciously fresh, not too hot sambal. My personal favorite and recommendation is the Masoesa Moksi Alesi (only available on Mondays), delicious food while enjoying a ginger beer.

Had a tjauwmin with chicken and moksi alesi (djarpesi) both portions were delicious 😍 definitely worth repeating and finally authentic Surinamese food in Amsterdam West 👌🏼

Delicious food, chill music, and affordable. I've tried several dishes and they're all good, the chili and sour sauce is delicious. Thanks, it was fun!
