Most inadequate service I’ve ever experienced! We had a reservation for three people and initially only 2 chairs were available. Not only that but we had to wait for 15min for the second chair to be given to us. The waiter couldn’t get our order correct not even once - first I received the wrong wine, then my friend never received hers. We kept reminding him and asking for service, and eventually gave up and went to the bar ourselves. Next round, same story. When we tried to get the bill, we asked more than three times and waited for over half an hour, until eventually, again, we went to pay at the bar.

Nice terrace by the canal. But we left after 30 minutes because nobody ever came to take our order. Edit: just read their replies to other reviews clearly showing that they are paying for five-star reviews. Calling it a 'Telegram scam' is risible - who else would be paying for reviews except the owners of the restaurant? Explains a lot about this place.

I used to love coming here. Tonight was a huge disappointment: 1. We had made a reservation, but there was no room inside. After a short wait, we did get a spot with stools on the terrace. 2. It took a very long time, and we had to ask several times, to get our drinks. 3. More than half an hour after ordering our food (which we had to change twice because the dishes were no longer available), we were told we couldn't eat anymore. We didn't have to pay for the drinks, but that didn't really make up for our empty stomachs and the subsequent foray into food.

Why don’t you employ more people? The bartender was doing the best he could but it was nowhere near enough. It was a sunny afternoon - stop being cheap and put more staff on. I shouldn’t be clearing tables as the customer.

Our first round took 1 hour and 15 minutes, while some snacks miraculously came 2.5 hours later. The staff? Bless them...Lovely people—just completely unaware that they were, in fact, working in a restaurant. Pouring drinks? If you lucky... Clearing tables? Nope, not their job. We ended up bussing our own table while they watched, seemingly still in recovery mode from the all night bender the night before. Honestly, never seen anything like it in Amsterdam before. Highly recommend—if you’ve ever wanted to run your own café without the hassle of owning one. Also great view of the canal.

The best place to grab something to eat by the canal

Delicious food, nice atmosphere. It says wheelchair accessible on Google Maps, but if you can't get out of your wheelchair to climb the threshold, it won't be accessible.

A really cosy restaurant with a georgeous and very personal service! If you sit at the windowtables, you have a wonderful view to the canal. Don’t miss to ask for the burger of the day - mine was one with bluecheese and so delicious!

Café Lennep, at first glance it seems like a nice café, and I can talk about it very briefly. But on a deeper level this is a gem of a place. Even if you came in and accidentally ordered fries, you know for sure, I want to go here more often. The boys have a service that you have never seen before, friendly, fast paced and above all we always have a good time here and memories are made by the good vibe that hangs here, no question is too crazy and they are open to everything. For a few months now we have been treated very well and helped with our wishes (our wish is mainly fries) (fries are great here). Even if I would rate this café on a scale of 1-10, it is a 10/10. Café Lennep is truly a hidden gem in the city! The atmosphere is super cozy, both inside and on the terrace by the water. The food is delicious and well priced. The snacks and burgers are especially recommended! A perfect place to relax with friends or have a drink.

After our dance class on Friday evenings we always come here for a drink. Always cozy and delicious. The espresso martini is highly recommended. But... the best part is Tim the bartender. Really a sweetheart. Super hospitable. We would love to come back every week!!

Beautiful place with welcoming staff. The meals were delicious. We had lunch specials, unfortunately one of the sides was out of stock and the waiter offered us another side which is good customer service. The prices are affordable and the menu has vegetarian options. I highly recommend!

Met een vriend wilde ik graag een uitsmijter eten. Ze hadden dit niet op de kaart, maar konden er wel één maken. Het zou twaalf euro kosten. Vervolgens kregen we één witte boterham met één gebakken ei. Verder niets erbij (wel kaas en bacon onder het ei). We dachten even in "Bananen Split" terecht te zijn gekomen, maar het was "Tros opgelicht". Nooit meer daarheen.

Had quite a bad and sad experience a couple of weeks ago. We waited longer than 1.5 hours for our food, while having a baby with us due to a mistake they made.. But on top of that, they forgot few dishes, and the pulled pork sandwich I took contained 15% of pulled pork.. I think they were too afraid to say that they had run out so they gave a very sad sandwich.. They gave us some free fries to make it up, which was nice.. I live around the corner but I would never come back nor recommend it any longer to my friends and visitors.

Used to be our kind of living room as we used to live around the corner. Even had our wedding anniversary drinks here… Just dropped by after a year post moving out the neighborhood and sad to see service seem to have been Amsterdam’ed and declined to a point you wait for 20 mins to be “acked” by staff, followed by your order being forgotten, which was a cup of coffee and a glass of cava. It wasn’t even busy… Not sure if Chase is still in charge but I hope they get their spirit back! Still a fantastic location especially on a sunny day!

Café Lennep is highly recommended! I enjoyed a delicious lunch here in a charming atmosphere. The interior is cozy and invites you to sit and relax. The beer I drank was fantastic and perfectly tapped. What struck me most was the attentive service; friendly and fast which made the experience even better. In short, a perfect place to relax and enjoy good food and drinks. I will definitely come back here!

a beautiful place with amazing location inside and outside, super adorable, friendly, kind staff and delicious, yummy food. the terrace looks directly into the canal, the staff was super available though a bit slow (there were many tables and the guy had a lot on his own hands so it’s respectable) but he was so nice that he made our lunch 10x better! The food choices are wide and tasty, vegetarian and healthy options too and the portions are wide. The prices are very fair. We loved it all! We recommend it to everyone and thank the Café for the fun lunch break that we’ll remember throughout our trip. xoxo, the italian group :)

bad food, bad service, shitty place

Cafe Lennep has a really nice terras but unfortunately their lack of staff and attention to service is a shame. It took us over an hour to get our food after sitting down. The inside was empty and quite messy with dirty dishes. The chicken burger was quite dry and our fries never came.

Good surprise. Pretty tasty fast food cuisine. Dishes served hot. Nice atmosphere.

Today we were denied dinner because there is a wedding planned here tomorrow... we wait for snacks for more than an hour, the guys who arrived later than us got their food out earlier... is this normal? terrible slow service! beautiful view and that's all!

On a sunny spring day it would be wise not to grab a cafe on the Jan Pieter Heije, but to walk to Lennep. You may not be 'seen' here, but it is lovely on the terrace on the water. Food was really great.

Nice place, food and drinks are fine. Service is substandard, cannot handle crowds well. Indicated that we could share a table with other guests without discussing this. Other guests indicated that they wanted to have the table to themselves. Uncomfortable.

Wonderfully informal, a bit noisy but very pleasant. Friendly and cheerful staff and the dog was allowed to come along. Had a nice and tasty evening.

Definitely recommend the burger of the day, and their bittberballen are crazy good, you cannot order too many of them. We came here on our first night in Amsterdam (and got ourselves a little "kopstootje" to start), and we loved it so much we decided to have our last dinner in town here too. Try the apple tart!

Lots of staff that don't pay attention to the tables and loiter behind the bar. One staff member was forced to wait all the tables by himself and clearly struggled to help that many people at the same time. Often we had to get up and walk to the bar to get service.

He picked up the Volkskrant and took a seat. Not missing a beat, the owner, stepping out of the kitchen, warmly greeted him. "Could you give him his newspaper?" he asked a server, to which the server replied with a chuckle, "Oh, he's already got it." This brief exchange set the tone for my entire visit. Ever had a meal that lingers in memory? The spicy maple bacon burger at Cafe Lennep was that and more - arguably the best burger of my life. Paired with a sublime burrata salad, it was culinary perfection. It was a daily special, but I hope they make it a part of the menu! The ambiance, especially on their sun-drenched terrace, captures Amsterdam's essence beautifully. It's an idyllic spot for a leisurely Saturday lunch or a cozy evening chat over their impressive beer selections (on tap!!). Yet, it's the service that truly sets Cafe Lennep apart. Despite a full house, they managed expectations flawlessly. A heads-up about potential delays, yet dishes arrived with surprising speed. It's the combination of delectable food, inviting ambiance, and heartwarming service (as evidenced by the newspaper incident) that makes Cafe Lennep a standout. Sehr schöner Platz an Gracht. Kleine, aber gute Speisekarte. Burger und Tomatensuppe echt empfehlenswert!

Hartstikke leuke gezellige eet-café. Bediening, Sfeer, Prijs voor mij in balans. Er ging wel iets mis met onze bestelling, kok deed de sla minder goed wassen en niet gecheckt op oneffenheden. Dus eten iets minder gescoord hierdoor, maar het werd netjes opgelost voor de kok. Bediening +++. Zeker één aanrader en wij gaan zeker ook nog eens terug. Vooral aan het water met een zonnetje erbij, Top.
