Café Moeke in Landelijk Gebied

Café Moeke is an excellent place to stop anytime, whether for dinner, lunch, or just a cup of coffee or tea. The place exudes coziness and hospitality. The decor is charmingly old-fashioned, and the Persian rugs complete the look beautifully. The steak is highly recommended. For lunch, we opted for the onion soup (highly recommended), the carpaccio sandwich (also delicious), and the meatball with gravy and bread. The latter was a bit disappointing; the meatball and the gravy were a bit cold and not quite what you'd expect from a homemade meatball.

The food wasn't great, it almost blew off my plate. My order was also delivered incorrectly three times, and it kept getting worse by the time it was returned. Kudos for the atmosphere.

A unique experience (negative!!) The service was terrible; we were completely drunk, and the table next to us, with three people, was served regularly. We were completely ignored. After almost an hour, I walked to the bar, very irritated, to ask if it was still possible to order something because there was no other way to contact us (although we were asked to see the menu when clearing the table). The bread as a starter was fine, but the main course: steak, was terrible. First, we weren't asked how we wanted our steak cooked. Then it was overcooked, completely tasteless, and extremely tough. When clearing the table, we were (naturally) not asked if we enjoyed it. The dessert was also very mediocre. The white wine tasted a bit like gasoline. And, true to form, we weren't asked once if we wanted another drink. This evening is definitely in my top 5 of worst restaurant experiences; Congratulations!! I've eaten here several times (10-15 times) and had good experiences. But this one makes me never come back, and I strongly advise anyone who asks or suggests going based on this very sad experience against it. How quickly an evening can be ruined? Congratulations again!!

Had a delicious dinner from start to finish

It's always a pleasant experience with Petra and her team. We always enjoy delicious food here. The menu is varied and includes a wide selection, as well as specials. The Spandershoeve dish is also delicious, highly recommended.

Lovely terrace, easy parking, woods and heathland nearby for walking. Good menu, not too expensive. Inside, a nice traditional Dutch café setting. In short, highly recommended!

My dad wanted to eat here for a 'mossel pannetje', he loved it. The ' biefstuk ' I had was a fairly tough piece of meat. We had a good meal together.

I ate at Moeke with a friend. It's a traditional restaurant with a Dutch flair. Free parking is available, and you can dine indoors or outdoors. I ordered an "uitsmijter" (fried eggs with bacon). Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy it because the bacon was burnt. I reported it, and the waiter reacted rather coldly. This is a shame. My friend had a tuna sandwich, and she enjoyed it. Wheelchairs are no problem.

It felt like stepping back into your grandmother's time. We had a delicious lunch with mussels!

Had lunch here with my wife during a nice ride in the Beetle. We stopped here for lunch. My wife was pregnant and had gestational diabetes, and they were incredibly thoughtful about making sure she could eat everything safely. Fantastic!

We were looking for a place to eat near the Lagevuursche climbing forest for our company outing. After a quick search online, we quickly found Cafe Moeke in Hollandsche Rading and made a reservation. Upon arrival, we received a warm welcome and were able to sit outside. The service seemed a bit stiff at first, but after a pleasant chat, the ice was broken and everything went smoothly. Great place with nice and especially cheerful service👌

I finished one Chouffe. The atmosphere is nice. The service wasn't. Maybe I was having a bad day. I had ordered my drink. My wife wanted to check it out. The drink was served, and you'd expect someone to ask if the lady knew what she was doing, but nothing. 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes. My Chouffe was good but almost gone. Still no one came to ask if the lady wanted a drink. The three of them were chatting behind the counter. When I went to pay, I was asked, "One beer, is that right?" 😅 Yes, that's right. Then I went to De Rading, a minute away. It was excellent there.

The three of us went to dinner last night. It was a bit busier, but not exactly crazy. You can't get in touch with the staff. They don't even look around. We asked three times for a bread board. Finally, someone came to say it was still in the oven... even though we'd already seen three bread boards go by, including at tables that arrived later. Very strange. The food was very tasty, but a bit meager. The bill, on the other hand, was quite generous. Unfortunately, for us, it wasn't anything to write home about.

We unexpectedly dined at Moeke without a reservation. It was so nice that there was room for six. The food was delicious, the service was great, especially Brechtje, who was such a sweetheart. She was humorous and attentive. She came over to wish us a pleasant evening, as her shift was over. You don't see that very often.

Moeke Spijkstra in Blaricum has been a favorite of mine for 45 years, and the concept is still truly amazing. A few years ago, I also visited Café Moeke (on the border of Hilversum and Maartensdijk), but only for a drink. This summer, a good friend invited me for lunch, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. Traditional pub-style food and drinks. It was lovely on the sunny terrace (it took some getting used to the traffic, but that's alright). Inside at the bar, I struck up a conversation with a waitress, whom I surprised with my enormous number of Google views as an "elderly influencer." She could hardly believe it, and I said, "Just wait and see!" (That took a few months, but here I am!). The interior (here too) has a unique and nostalgic atmosphere, full of curiosities that make many a foodie's mouth water, and that certainly applies to everything that comes out of the kitchen. In short, highly recommended. With "Dutch" coziness high on the agenda. English version: You may not realize the real 'Dutch Brown Café' has been for ages a historical and cultural aspect of social daily life in the Netherlands. (Compare it to the 'English Pub'). One of the true greatest examples of this is Café Moeke Spijkstra in Blaricum which has been popular since ages until today. A 'younger' sister/brother (okay, 'family member') is Café Moeke in the village of Maartensdijk border of City of Hilversum. All the curiosities & bric a brac from times gone will bring back in nostalgic athmospheres. What a (as we say it in Dutch, 'cosy atmosphere'). The lady in service couldn't believe I had over 13 million views on Google maps and said I was a true 'ancient reviewer' she never had heard anything like it and I promised her just wait and see! (it early spring April 2025 and it took me till late summer but Voila!) If in the neighborhood you must get a taste of Café Moeke and tell back home you now know all about the life in a Dutch Brown Café. (including persian tapestry (old Dutch tradition) on the tables!)

Excellent local food, meat and mussels, beautiful restaurant

My fish dish was fine, but the steak I enjoyed was overcooked. We apologized for this, and the special coffee we ordered was on the house. That was handled very well.

We had lunch there the other day. The restaurant is lovely, qaint, with a real Dutch feel both in decor and menu offer. The place is rich in history be in operation since over 100 years. Lunch served is well prepared and served with a big smile from the waitress.

We enjoyed a lovely meal on the terrace, the staff were friendly, the drinks were ice-cold, and the two delicious, fresh lunch dishes were served.

Beautiful location. Excellent food. Good menu. I love coming here and often sit here with customers. But beware. When it gets busier (nice weather, holidays, weekends), everything is a bit less. Simply because they don't seem to be able to get things right. (I know it's hard to find and keep staff.) The first phone call didn't work. They forgot they'd called... And then I just wanted to make a reservation and asked for a table with shade. The answer was: "There's shade inside if you want it..." (yes, then we had to hang up). Once we arrived, it was very quiet (20% capacity)... I don't understand where the phone calls came from.

Moeke denkt dat ze er wel zijn, maar er komen steeds meer klachten, Personeel is een drama, arrogant en onbekwaam. Eten is matig, duur en kleine porties. ik zeg niet doen.

Very bad. We reserved a table, but there wasn't enough room inside. So, seven of us were put at a table for four. The hamburger was served black. The Liège waffles were served half-heartedly, and the waffle was also very salty and limp.

Top restaurant.. had a delicious steak, butter-tender.. excellent service.. no complaints.. highly recommended.

The cozy terrace, and the interior feels like Moeke's old-fashioned living room. The food was delicious: the chicken actually turned out to be a whole chicken! It's a great way to share the experience. Highly recommended!

Very nice weather with an excellent price-quality ratio

Had a wonderful meal on the terrace, enjoying Zeeland mussels. Cozy cafe with a lovely terrace and good parking. Inside, there's so much to see, including antique artifacts—too many to list.

Food: we got fish (tuna) twice that was out of date. On the third attempt we got sea bass. Was a bit more edible but had the same texture as rubber. Didn't get a discount on our food despite it being 1 hour late… Service: Waiters were ok… Management is arrogant. Atmosphere: you're sitting along an n-road…

Super service. The staff really does their best. But the kitchen is really not good. The chef (owner) is seriously arrogant and apparently does not realize that we as customers pay his salary. Super badly prepared meat. Not even okay the 2nd time. When we spoke to the chef about it, we were told that it was our taste. Ridiculous. We will never eat here again.

Ate on the cozy spacious terrace with a group of 12 people, service was good and also very friendly, price\quality was really very different, tosti, uitsmijter and sandwich croquette tasted delicious, but the bread with steak tips was really a disgrace, two thin slices of bread with a minimum of steak tips and not fresh mushrooms, three pieces of lettuce and some greasy gravy, you pay €18.50 for this, I think this is really an unfair price\quality. Also the carpaccio sandwich was unfortunately thinly topped and not what you expect!!😫😫 because of this experience I would not quickly go back a second time, a shame because it is a cozy location.

We were excited to try this place after seeing great reviews and a kitchen advertised as open until 10:30. After a long day of travel, we arrived at 9:45—well before closing. Unfortunately, despite the restaurant being nearly empty, we were told only drinks (and later, just appetizers) were available. This was disappointing and made us feel unwelcome, especially as the website gave no indication of an earlier kitchen closure. The staff were polite and helped us with the appetizer menu, but overall service was lacking—water glasses went empty, we had to ask for napkins and utensils, and our table was cleared before we finished. There was also no drink menu provided, and the beer pour was small. If the kitchen closes early, it should be clearly communicated online and at the entrance. Hospitality and honesty matter, especially to tired travelers. We might have given five stars if the experience matched the restaurant’s reputation, but as it was, we left disappointed.

The food was good, the atmosphere was less. Early on the music gets louder and it becomes a pub that attracts a strange crowd. So if you don't want that you have to leave early.

Enjoyed the terrace while cycling

Great food and owners and staff super flexible. Went there with 7 people and 6 dogs. The only question was whether we could keep the dogs out of the walkways, but that is only normal. Kudos deserved.

We sat on the terrace with my friend before we went to the table inside the restaurant. Inside it is nicely decorated. Relive old times. Easily helped at the table by a friendly young man with a sense of humor. We were soon offered a home-made sandwich with spread, which tasted delicious. After this the hot meal. This also tasted great. We enjoyed this evening together. Definitely worth repeating.

In itself a cozy restaurant with a nice menu, but we ate here yesterday and it was a bit disappointing. After we had sat at the table for 1.5 hours and had only had our starter (Steak Tartare, which was tasty), we asked where our main course was because we really had to leave in half an hour for a theater performance. The blue double-sided steak that was ordered eventually arrived, but it was cooked beyond medium rare, which did not improve the taste. At checkout and the answer to the question whether everything had been satisfactory, not even an apology... Very unfortunate!

Delicious food! Nice service. The downside is that the parking lot was full and finding a place elsewhere is quite a challenge if you are not from the area.

Perfect restaurant for 60+, who have rarely ventured outside of the Netherlands. This is a lovely old style dutch restaurant. It has potential , with a better chef ! Good concept. They have a great classic dutch / French style menu. Really good locally sourced produce. A varied seasonal menu. Looks amazing on paper. Sadly Really badly cooked food. The chef is obviously not experienced at all. He needs to go back to school. Such a shame. I ordered a shrimp cocktail, It was served, with a fully shelled shrimp, eyeballs, intestines intact and everything deep fried. Seriously ? Shrimps are never served like that , anywhere! Asked for medium /well filet steak. Was overdone, vegetables nearly raw, Fries overdone. Truffelsaus was nice. Don't come here if you are used to modern and well cooked food. Completely disappointed 😞 I tried to take my gin and tonic home with me , to ease my pain of having to Pay €90 for such crap. My bad! Was stopped by the waitress. Apparently they are low on glasses as well as talent 🙄😅😆

We had a theme evening which was wonderful but very little money for that

Today we drove a beautiful route due to the beautiful weather. Stopped for lunch in Hollandsche Rading. More than half of the available tables had “reserved” signs on the sunny side and were allowed to look for a table on the other side of the terrace. Attentive waitress was soon there to take our drinks order and hand us the lunch menu. Very nice with the celebrities on the cover. Ordered 2x salmon club sandwich, 1x chicken club sandwich and a Waldkorn carpaccio. Service was good, but the club sandwich was very bare and very poorly filled. Sufficient lettuce, tomato and egg, but the salmon was unfortunately inferior. This is just like the chicken, 3 slices of chicken fillet, and carpaccio on the other sandwiches. The brown café inside looked neat and attractive. Not what we expected from the lunch dishes and possibly the worst version of club sandwich we have ever had. So don't do this again anytime soon!

After reading the reviews, expectations were not high. What a stroke of luck that a delicious onion soup, perfectly made tournedos and delicious (somewhat small) vegetables and a cone of fries were served. Her sound was like what you might expect from a cafe restaurant.

Heerlijk gegeten en super vriendelijk personeel en echt een top sfeertje en waarom dan geen 5 sterren? We hebben het echt koud gehad daar en dat doet jammer genoeg een beetje afbreuk aan de ervaring.

The food remains very good and tasty, but the service has deteriorated considerably. After a few times as a guest, they give me the feeling that I am no longer welcome as a guest. Fortunately, that is the case at Moeke in Blaricum where I enjoy the same type of dishes. and the hospitality that comes with it.

A beautiful and cozy Amsterdam eatery outside Amsterdam

It was a bit dark upon entering. The service can be called friendly. The food served was hot and of sufficient quality. But considering price versus quality, the prices for the dishes are high.

Ate here with 4 people. The food was fine. The atmosphere too... but when the owner decided to turn up the music extra loud with some friends at the bar, the atmosphere quickly disappeared. We could no longer have a conversation at the table. After asking if it could be a bit quieter, the result was that the volume was turned up a bit. Asked again if it could be a little softer. But NO the boss did not intend to do this. The waitress indicated that unfortunately she could not do anything about it and was clearly not happy with the situation. Other guests were also annoyed by the loud music. We then asked for the bill and left. The owner and her friends were still clapping very hostilely when they left. The hospitality is hard to find here. We will never go here again. What a bad experience.

Moeke was once a household name, but what I say 'was'. The food is mediocre, the atmosphere is cold - literally. The service is downright bad. We had a complaint about the meal served, but the lady who heard the complaint shrugged her shoulders and walked away...Moeke Hollandsche Rading, lady with long blond hair, if she worked for me this was her last evening.

Was always a good choice for a good bite for a good price, but lately the lead time has apparently become more important. Appetizer was on the table before the sandwiches were finished. Starter plates were cleared before I had put down my cutlery, followed very quickly by main course. In a new lap time of less than 45 minutes we were outside again....

A cozy and atmospheric café restaurant with a vintage vibe! Super tasty duck with red game sauce. This place is highly recommended. We had a great evening.

Unfortunately not a good experience. Service and food are very good, but people sat next to us with 2 large dogs that had just come out of the forest. Very smelly! We felt chased away and the response from staff was that it was allowed from 'higher up'. Bad experience!

Good atmosphere in this café which is also a restaurant.

Bij de reservering aangegeven voor vier personen de Indonesische rijsttafel te willen hebben. Op de maandagen te bestellen. Veel voorbij zien komen zodat we dachten dat het erg goed moest zijn. Het tegendeel is waar. Schandalig weinig, voor twee personen krijg je 4 droge spitsjes kipsate en ook nog eens erg kleine stukjes. Twee kleine schaaltjes met pittig vlees en wat groente, een paar stukjes kroepoek en dat is het, maar voor twee personen wel €44,—. Ik schaamde mij voor mijn twee gasten die ik had uitgenodigd. Wel lekkere wijn erbij besteld maar toen we om nog twee keer een glas wijn vroegen kreeg ik als antwoord dat deze wijn “op” was. Ik kon alleen nog wel een hele fles van dezelfde wijn bestellen voor € 37,50. Ik was erg beduusd, wel de fles genomen, maar achteraf schandalig . Waarom niet de fles opengemaakt en ons twee glazen ervan ingeschonken. Grote tegenvaller van dit restaurant waar we in het verleden graag kwamen. Helaas, het is niet anders.

When making the reservation, I indicated that I wanted the Indonesian rice table for four people. Can be ordered on Mondays. We saw a lot passing by so we thought it must be very good. The opposite is true. Scandalously little, for two people you get 4 dry wedges of chicken satay and also very small pieces. Two small bowls with spicy meat and some vegetables, a few pieces of prawn crackers and that's it, but for two people €44.00. I was ashamed of my two guests that I invited. We ordered some nice wine, but when we asked for two more glasses of wine, I received the answer that this wine was “finished”. I could only order a whole bottle of the same wine for €37.50. I was very confused, I did take the bottle, but in retrospect it was scandalous. Why not open the bottle and pour us two glasses of it. Major disappointment for this restaurant that we used to enjoy visiting in the past. Unfortunately, it is no different.

The staff is friendly, fast and hospitable. I ate a hamburger and fries. It was delicious!

Enjoying a nice meal with the family on my birthday.

Despite the gray weather it was busy. Excellent service, fast service. The only comment is that they prefer not to pay for people separately.

Ate here earlier this week. Friendly but young staff who clearly could not cope. A person at the table never received the entree even though it was requested several times. The fish platter was delicious but really very little and if you then charge 17.50 euros for it, that is actually scandalous. Ultimately the bill turned out to be incorrect as it contained too much alcohol. So nice for once, but no need to come back.

Als echte Moeke gangers en met name Moeke In Blaricum, dachten we vandaag laten we Moeke in de Hollandsche Rading eens aan doen voor een borreltje en een hapje. Vier bitterballen of vier garnalen in tempura zouden het worden .......de keuze viel op het laatste! ( niet de borrelkaart bekeken) Bij het afrekenen moest ik toch wel heel veel afrekenen..... buiten gekomen bekeek ik de rekening nog eens.......4,50 euro per garnaal. 18 euro voor vier gefrituurde garnalen....!!!! Mijn ega terug voor de waarschijnlijke misrekening, ...nee het klopte! Aangezien hij een beetje doof is , werd hem verteld , dacht hij te horen dat een garnaal ¨3,50 euro kostte.¨ terug in de auto bleek dat 4 keer 3,50 toch echt nog steeds veertien euro is, dus ik nog maar een keer terug......, nee 4,50 euro : ) dus voor een garnaal. Nu moeten, die grote garnalen wel van ver komen, uit bassins gevist worden, ingevroren worden , verpakt worden, gevlogen worden, misschien wel biogisch zijn...........ha ha ha, maar buiten proporties schandalig geprijst........, Moeke Blaricum vraagt de helft van de prijs,!!!!! ,dus..............

We came to this cafe for lunch, it is a cozy cafe with warm colors and own decorations, fast service, onion soup and uitmeijster were very tasty, the stipulations could be friendlier.

Delicious Zeeland Jumbo Mussels. With a delicious Chilean white wine. A warm welcome, nice service. Fast service. And we sat on the terrace in the sun. For us a nice end to a fun weekend with friends.

What an unfriendly owner runs this place!! A friendly waitress brings the wrong beer (0% weizen, while regular weizen was requested). She blames us for the misunderstanding. 1 minute later an angry owner is at the table... that we have not ordered correctly and that we have to take away the bottle... we refuse and explain how it went and that we want a normal beer (weizen 'with' was not served). She walks away angrily. Regular beer is not delivered. When we ask for it inside, the beer is placed firmly on the bar with a grumpy face. What rudeness and complete lack of hospitality. According to the reviews, we are not the only ones with this experience. My advice: Madam, do something else with your life if you hate your job so much.
