Café Moer in Overtoomse Sluis

Last night I had a really bad experience with the service here. I wanted to pay with cash because I needed my bank account for other bills. The waitress looked at the note with disgust, as if I was ripping her off. Then she said it was possible, but that I wouldn't be welcome anymore. Her colleague agreed, saying I'd tried that with him before. As if it's so normal and easy to shift the responsibility for such a drastic change of course (and the provider's needs) onto the customer. Cash is still legal tender! 1. I've been coming here for years and usually paid by bank transfer. Now I have much less of it. I'm being accused of not knowing or seeing it on the door. As if I'm being difficult on purpose. I have absolutely no understanding of the time and resources it takes to make this happen. 2. At other places, at least there are friendly people who resolve issues personally. This woman seemed to have a dislike for me. This may have been due to another experience: 3. We regularly ordered takeout food from here because colleagues from my own restaurant couldn't join us. One was still working, while the other couldn't tolerate the noise, light, and crowds for medical reasons. Recently, we wanted to order takeout again, but that suddenly became impossible. We absolutely had to eat the food there. The two of us did it together, but our colleague couldn't join us, so I packed it for him in a box I brought myself. This incident apparently played a role, because I was criticized for this during the discussion about the money. 4. It seems Riot/Conscious Hotel has changed course. They commanded respect with 100% organic, mostly vegan, and affordable food and friendly service, but this has changed. - The prices have become extremely high, compared to the tiny portions, which are described as "sharing dinners," where you are completely misled. Portions so small you can't share, but you need three to make something nutritious. - By refusing cash, access is bluntly and dogmatically denied to a segment of the public with little electronic income. Why so strict when it concerns a few exceptions? How does this elitist attitude fit into the 'Riot' concept, which refers to the Jordan uprising? - A few months earlier, it emerged that no organic frying oil was used. While that would have been an exception, it's now resurfacing. - At Kantoor (Westerpark), there are hardly any vegan options left. Is Riot heading in this direction? The restaurant (Moer) was closed for almost a year. First due to renovations, later due to a staff shortage. It's clear they're struggling with the concept of 'conscious', and that's not easy (for food). With Alchemist Garden, I follow a consistent holistic approach, mm, which in today's world is more of an art form. The most important thing is: be transparent, open, honest, and clear. But above all: be kind! Otherwise, you won't make it (again).

Lovely place, well decorated. Nice view on a sparkling clean kitchen. The Veggie discovery menu was just fantastic. And I am not even vegetarian.

Great organic cafe connected to the Conscious Hotel. Lots of space and good service. I had the vegan burger and enjoyed it.

The food was delicious, everything vegetarian and many vegan options. The kimchi pancakes and watermelon were great! Really tasty. We'll come again soon.

We found this lovely cafe in the middle of the city. Without doing any research we stepped in and were welcomed by a group of super friendly staff. The menu was really interesting and unique. We ordered a to-share portion for a jackfruit tostada(must try) ,potato waffles (must try), soba noddles and nasi kuning. It was a bit pricey but there was an open-mic evening so at the end it was all worth it.

Moer is een geweldige verrassing. Een parel in Amsterdam die wij (vegetariers) zouden moeten koesteren. Aardige bediening, veel keus in vegetarische en vegan gerechten, bijzonder lekkere smaakcombinaties en mooi opgemaakt. Aanrader is de Chef's Choice menu. Geniet van de verschillende smaaksensaties en schroom niet om een "doggy bag" te vragen wanneer het te veel is. Eindelijk een restaurant die passie stopt in zijn vegetarische gerechten en zich er niet makkelijk van afmaakt met een (niet eens vers gemaakt) pasta gerecht zoals bij heel veel "collega restaurants". Ik ben persoonlijk heel blij dat de oesters en kreeften niet meer op het menu staan, maar alleen heerlijke diervriendelijke gerechten. Ga vooral allemaal naar Moer!

Wat een verrassing en feest voor je smaak beleving. We hadden een verrassing menu met diverse gerechten. De keuken maakt gebruik van verse ingrediënten en diverse smaak combinaties. Echt een ontdekken. Alles wordt goed uitgelegd door enthousiaste medewerkers. Iemand in ons gezelschap had gluten intolerantie en hier word goed rekening mee gehouden. Top avond en bedankt!

Food was really delicious, very fresh and beautifully plated! As a vegetarian/vegan myself I was pleased with the variety of flavours. Recommend.

We had a wonderful dinner in Café Moer. Delicious vegan food with an explosion of flavours. I really recommend it for everyone who looks for vegan food.

Superb in all regards. Celariac steak....who knew! Cocktails were perfection. Staff were delightful. Highly recommend.

Eten heeft prima gesmaakt en het personeel is aardig. Misschien dat wij net ongeluk hadden maar we hebben bijzonder lang moeten wachten, zelfs 45 minuten op het toetje gewacht. Dit is voor ons niet voor herhaling vatbaar. Helaas.

Good for vegans. I am not a vegan, not even a vegetsrian, so difficult to give objective assessment to food. Service okey.

Heerlijk gegeten een 3 gangen menu. Geroosterde pompoen met curry (daar had ietsje meer van mogen zijn ;-)) vooraf de tom Kha Kai (overheerlijk) als nagerecht het bananenbrood, voor mij zonder de karamel. Zeer vriendelijke bediening!

Cafe Moer has undoubtedly the best all-veg menu i've seen so far in Amsterdam. Great chef, very friendly staff and this place is perfect for remote working as it's spacious and not very loud unlike most restaurants in Amsterdam.

Heel lekker gegeten. Alles is biologisch en verantwoord en zoals het hoort. En de bediening is lief!

Wegens ons verblijf in het Conscious Hotel hebben we hier enkele keren ontbeten en in de namiddag een drankje genuttigd. Indien er aan het ontbijt iets ontbrak waren de medewerkers zeer behulpzaam, waarvoor dank!

To be honest... it looked cute but was mediocre. The staff was nice, the food kinda sucked but they did have a lot of vegan options. There was a open mic night that we were not aware of but that can be fun right? But the music was so loud... we could barely hear eachother and had to shout. Eventually they did turn it down for a good 30minutes. But then the volume went back up. I dont think I would go back there, but might consider if only for cocktails or so?

Heerlijk! Smaakvol en gezellig.

Mooi ingericht en ruim opgezet. Het restaurant is vrij groot en staat niet dusdanig volgepakt met tafels waardoor je het gevoel krijgt bij andere bezoekers op schoot te zitten. Er staat gemoedelijke muziek op en de algehele sfeer is rustig. Het eten is lekker en het personeel heel aardig en attent. Ook wanneer je een beetje in uithoek zit wordt er regelmatig, maar niet opdringerig gevraagd of je nog iets wil hebben. De gerechten zijn origineel en niet heel goedkoop, maar het is het geld wel waard.

Vegetarisch eten, je moet daar van houden. Het voorgerecht lukte prima, het hiofdgerecht was ok, de frietjes erbij waren uit de fabriek en slap. Het toetje (triple chocolate ofzo) was een tegenvallen. Bediening prima, keurig naast de wijn ook een fles kraanwater. Snelle service. Klein punten van kritiek; waarom is een biertje goedkoper dan een glas Spa rood of cola?

Fijne plek, lekkere gerechten en vriendelijke service. Kom snel weer langs om de andere gerechten te proberen.

Great food for a fair price. If you want to combine fine dining with vegetarian food, this is the place to do it.

We have a great dinner with friends. However, I do believe that some dishes are overpriced. We ordered mushroom scallops that tasted like nothing. It’s good that they took them back and we didn’t pay for them.

Lovely place, with the nicest staff in Amsterdam. Would totally recommend eating here! The mushroom wings were amazing. The lemon meringue cocktail is a must try.

Ik heb hier heel lekker gegeten. De presentatie was super mooi. Ik vond het erg goed hoe lekker en culinair de gerechten waren en allemaal vegetarisch. Het personeel was erg attent. De triple chocolate is geweldig! Ook raad ik de cocktails aan, mijn favoriet is de french 75. Café moer is een leuke plek om te lunchen en ook erg leuk om met de familie te eten. Ik kom hier zeker vaker terug, kortom een top plek.

Generalmente no frecuento restaurantes vegetarianos, pero este voy por segunda vez y es increíble! La primera vez comimos un plato árabe para compartir, Meza. Esta segunda vez nos dimos con la sorpresa que no siempre era árabe, tiene sus días. Pero nos gustó muchísimo igual. Mucho sabor y de muy buena calidad. El local bonito, con gente, muy bien.
