The first thing you notice about this place is the smell — absolutely mouthwatering even before you sit down. The open kitchen gives it a lively, welcoming feel, and the staff are clearly proud of the food they serve. I ordered a vegetarian curry, and it was packed with fresh vegetables, herbs, and spices. It had just the right amount of heat, and the homemade naan was fluffy and warm. The portion was more than enough, and I even had leftovers for the next day. For the price, the quality is unbeatable. Great spot whether you’re vegetarian or not.

Such a small and charming café! If you're in Amsterdam, you absolutely have to stop by. We were lucky and got a seat right away. If you want to be on the safe side, make a reservation! But it's no wonder everyone wants to go there; the coffee and breakfast were absolutely delicious. We'll definitely stop by again; we loved it.

Lovely place, food is great and healthy. But wouldn’t recommend the French toast/ doesn’t work in healthy. It feels like a family run business, the cook/mum is a bit on the more aggressive side, came out of the kitchen when they brought us something that we didn’t order and argued with us. Still highly recommend but make sure to reserve a table!

We came here for brunch today and it’s a solid 10/10. We had the most delicious scrambled eggs on home made sourdough with salad. The ingredients were fresh and perfect. The dressing on the farm fresh salad was stellar. And the coffee was great too. Staff were also fabulous. Can’t recommend highly enough.

I went here for breakfast early in the morning at nine o'clock. The people were friendly, the restaurant was very nicely decorated and the soft talk of both the staff and the guests was nice in the morning. I had a very nicely prepared scrambled egg on a bread that was easy to cut, rare these days!

Unexpected, authentic, small lunch spot right in the center. It is well hidden but is absolutely worth it: friendly, Dutch (!) staff and original + tasty dishes at a very reasonable price. It is quite dark there and when we were there it was a bit stuffy due to the heat. Don't forget to make a reservation either. Highly recommended!

a divine, little brunch (and high tea) spot! we were grateful to get a table, but reservations are recommended. it’s a cozy, small setting which allows for attention to detail, fresh made to order food and warm service. it’s tucked away on the street and easy to miss, google maps had it a few doors down, so it confused us :). just look for #7. we had the eggs benedict (asked for the sauce on the side). it was perfect!

We had lunch with friends in an for us unknown restaurant. It was a pleasure surprise. Cosy, small place, only 7 tables but very origional choice. Everything home made and even home grow. For sure we will come back but reservation is needed.

Be sure to book in advance, especially if you plan to come before opening (9-30). It's a pity that they open so late and are not open all days. However, the breakfasts there are excellent, everything is very, very tasty, the quality of the products is excellent and the dishes are prepared perfectly every day (we had breakfast here three days in a row). Attentive and friendly service.

Very charming small place hidden in narrow alley. Very friendly staff, the food was simple but tasted great. Maybe it is not the most instagram friendly place, but the vibe is original and cozy.

I came during lunch time on Sunday and the restaurant was busy, I waited for 10 mins and they found me a table. I wanted to try their soup and it was so delicious. The stuff is polite and friendly.

Make a reservation in advance – it’s a rare stroke of luck to get a table as a walk-in. And luck it truly is, because this place is incredibly cozy and welcoming. The food is delicious, with rich, bold flavors. Who would have thought a simple potato soup could be surprising? Yet it was absolutely fantastic. Maaike made our lunch experience at Gartine truly unforgettable! She was honestly such a happy and kind person, checking often if everything was to our satisfaction, or if we wanted a refill of our pot of tea. Most of the dishes include bio ingredients from their own vegetable garden, and even eggs from rescue chickens! Vintage objects fill the cosy and wood-focussed interior, always sure to attract great crowds, so definitely a good idea to make a reservation :)

It's a welcoming, small and cozy place. We ate scrambled eggs and a french toasy with large pot of tea. Scrambled eggs tasted very good, and the french toast was delicious as well. It was very soft, even though it has a sweet taste it is a very light food. Definitely recommending the french toast ❤️

Beautiful, tiny little cafe with a fantastic breakfast. You can tell that everything is prepared with fresh ingredients from the owners' own garden. We actually had breakfast here twice in four days and ate two dishes each because we couldn't decide. The cake also looks great, unfortunately we were really too full for it. And the price-performance ratio is great! No mediocre food prepared especially for Instagram that is then sold at a completely overpriced price - just very, very tasty food, great quality, and still so pretty. And the staff were lovely both times. I am consistently thrilled.

Everything is natural. It's basically farm to table French cooking. The mint for the mint tea I ordered were literally plucked from a garden in the back somewhere (See pictures). The jam they made was unlike anything I've ever had before. The croissant was freshly baked. The Food even just for breakfast, is REALLY good! The staff/cooks seemed really kind too. Food is brought out fairly quickly but the speed of service overall will feel slow if you come from somewhere like New York. I try to keep that in mind and not judge too harshly. On our visit felt like we waited an eternity to get the attention of the staff and pay the bill. Herein lies the reason for a one star deduction: They are cash only. Fortunately, we had enough cash on hand, but I imagine you'd be paying several fees if you had to go to an ATM nearby. Other than that, the atmosphere was warm and cozy. The place is in a nice location and almost feels like a hole-in-the wall, but it doesn't feel too tight. It's worth the visit for the cooking, just don't forget your cash!

Incredibly good food, great drinks, and a fantastic atmosphere. It can be very hard to get a seat, so book a reservation in advance. The cakes are also incredibly, so do not skip on them. Check out the ice teas as well, especially the anis, as it’s delicious.

My family and I have been traveling for a few weeks through UK and Europe. This breakfast was an accidental find and the food was the best! Fresh, delicious homemade food that brought comfort to us. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming and provided great service.

I was so looking forward to eating here but unfortunately it didn’t live up to expectations. It is dark and cramped but I quite liked the place. The staff were cheerful and friendly. Because we hadn’t booked we had to sit upstairs. The steps are steep and you are next to the toilets. To avoid this I would recommend you book. Positives: coffee was great and my partner had the scrambled eggs with extra bacon which he enjoyed Negatives: I ordered eggs Benedict with extra bacon. When it first came I took a photo as it looked fab. Unfortunately the eggs were cold. The waitress asked if everything was ok and I informed her about the eggs. She was very apologetic and took the plate away immediately. So far so impressed. That is until the replacement was given. Bear in mind I had literally had two mouthfuls from my breakfast. What came back from the kitchen was a tiny portion with two thirds of a slice of bacon and instead of a bed of spinach with a few iceberg leaves mixed in (no I don’t know why but ok) if was just iceberg. I called the waitress back and asked for a complete replacement as per the original dish just with hot eggs. What came back wasn’t but by this time I was fed up….not literally obviously! Both the Chef and the server need to ensure this doesn’t happen to anyone else. Full disclosure I am a Chef and if I tried that on with any of my customers my Front of House staff would not let it go out to the customer. And rightly so. They didn’t charge for the coffee as compensation. We obviously won’t be returning. The photos show the 1st and 3rd plate. I was so shocked by the 2nd I didn’t take a photo!
