New discovery in Amsterdam... We loved it so much we went back... I recommend it if you're strolling through the Jordaan area... The menu changes for dinner; we went at lunchtime... But everything was delicious. @cafenieuwamsterdam

A bit boring menu but very nice premises and atmosphere

The carrots were cooked and seasoned just right. Chicken was slightly on the saltier side even though it was well seasoned. The pork belly skin was too tough to bite into it, although the pork belly flavour itself was great. Bacon wrap was not that special. There was a hair in the pudding bread. Our friend was allergic to pork but they only replaced the triple bacon wrap, that massive pork belly with another piece of chicken. Personally, it does not do justice to pay 32,50€ for that. Especially with the hair incident, at least compensate with something. To me, this is not service I expect from a place that is quite pricey. However, the staff did explain very patiently on why they cannot add more chicken. It’s just sad that everyone else who was not allergic had their fill but the ones who could not eat pork left the place feeling hungry.

It looks so beautiful, but the service is non existent. We were seated and we ordered coffee to start with they brought 2 instead of 3 so we waited (maybe they will bring the next one in a sec) we also wanted to order something to eat so we would issue the coffee as soon as service would come back. 30min passed and they never came. So I went inside to pay and say good bye. Sad story.

Restaurant recommended by a local. The food, the atmosphere, the service! Everything was perfect. The back terrace is really lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, but the portions were a bit small for the price. The waitress was fantastic.

This Dutch bistro has a slightly French flare. I enjoyed Steak Tartare as an appetizer, which was delicious. For the main course I had a Pork Chop with Fries. To wash it down I sipped an Old Fashion. Closing off the meal with Strawberry Romanoff. Service was warm and welcoming. A 25 minutes walk from my hotel.

We had a bite to eat today on Mother's Day, just the three of us. Incredibly friendly service. Almost un-Amsterdam-like… not for nothing is it named ‘Nieuw Amsterdam!’ And we received a rose as a Mother's Day gift. Lovingly and spaciously decorated with a lovely atmosphere.

Really enjoyed the bbq sea bass and fries! The fish was fresh and so meaty.

This restaurant was recommended to us and I'm extremely pleased that it was. The place is fantastic, the service equally so, and the food we had was superb. We chose the sea bass from the BBQ, which was prepared superbly and tasted delicious. Anyone visiting Amsterdam you must reserve a table here. The best meal we've had here and not too expensive.

We had a great Sunday roast comparable with top places in the UK. The lamb was really unforgettable in how tender and tasty it was. The staff is also very friendly, quick and accommodating.

Be prepared to wait 90 minutes for your food if you order any meat. The waiters are nice, the food tastes ok, and the ambience is great. But, I wish I knew it would take an hour and a half for our main course. Maybe it’s an European thing.

We had coffee and cake during our city tour of the Jordaan. We were received with incredible hospitality and friendliness. Accurate service and a pleasant atmosphere. Definitely recommended, even for a group.

Always come here when I am in amsterdam the beef tartar is beautiful and I chose to have the veal this time and it didnt disappoint my partner had the same and she loved it. Will be back again

We were here with 8 people; we had been in contact before and indeed got a quiet spot, but afterwards it turned out to be quite noisy because there were a lot of groups. That isn't surprising, as the concept is that from 8 people onwards you get a share dining dinner, which was very tasty and of very high quality. The service was nice and efficient, and they do everything they can to make you feel comfortable. All in all, we had a lovely evening.

Excellent service & food. Beautiful courtyard area as well. If you are from the United States (or interested in history) it’s worth doing some research on the history of the building as well.

The place is beautiful, very welcoming, and well-kept. Frequented by locals, no tourists. The dinner menu seemed rather limited to me: at the tables around us, everyone basically had the same three or four dishes. That said, the dishes were tasty, and the prices were in line with city standards. On Friday night, it was packed, with several rather rowdy groups, and it was really hard to talk. The waiters were very attentive and kind (but they had to lean over the table to hear the orders).

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Café Nieuw Amsterdam and cannot recommend it enough for anyone looking for a top-tier breakfast spot. The breakfast I ordered was exceptional, with every ingredient tasting fresh and prepared to a very high standard—it was clearly made with care and presented beautifully. It’s rare to find a place that excels equally in food quality, service efficiency, and overall vibe, but this café hits the mark on all counts. Very busy, and yet, everything was delightful.

It had been a few years since we had a nice meal here, and this time it was great again! A small menu, but the dishes we ordered were outstanding. The price was also reasonable, and the service perfect. The location itself is, of course, very special and part of Amsterdam's rich history. I think few people are familiar with the statue of Peter Stuyvesant in the courtyard. With many young people on the terrace and lovely weather, it took on a fresh vibe that I hadn't felt here before; lovely Amsterdam.

We actually enjoyed very good service because we had to reschedule our arrival time twice; even the automated phone system really works here! Surprised that there are young people in Amsterdam who can serve and know how things should be done. The food was excellent and very tasty. But I am responding here because of 2 negative comments. 1. The pastrami sandwich without pastrami!?! and 2: Not taking the time, 30 seconds, to take a photo.?1? A phone is often dirtier than a toilet seat, so after touching a mobile, the person must wash their hands thoroughly before serving another plate. There should be a ban on waiting staff taking photos because it is simply disgusting. I will return here often with guests because the prices are fair and we had a wonderful time.

My absolute favorite restaurant in Amsterdam — and after two visits, it only keeps getting better. This is traditional Dutch food done right. The beef balls (bitterballen) are gorgeous, and the raw sausage with mustard is something else entirely — bold, rich, and deeply satisfying. Everything is full of flavor and authenticity. The setting matches the food perfectly. Beautiful high ceilings, a stunning interior, and both a small and a larger outdoor terrace for when the weather allows. The vibe is warm and genuinely special — it doesn’t feel like a tourist trap, it feels like the real Amsterdam. Prices are very reasonable too, which makes it even harder to fault. If you visit Amsterdam and eat at one traditional Dutch restaurant, make it this one.

Good service is half the battle! The food is fine (but not mega special), though good value for the price. But the friendly service ensures you have the chillest evening you could wish for.

Have been here multiple times. The food is always good and the service is always amazing. It does get loud sometimes, but you are in the middle of the city. So that’s something that comes with the area. Doesn’t bother me personally, but it’s good to know beforehand.

The staff is very nice and relaxed, but also attentive, which is nice. The food tasted very good and we had a wonderful time; the eggplant sandwich and the steak tartare were delicious! Beautiful restaurant and nice atmosphere, highly recommended!

Great cafe in Amsterdam, I recommend it

We came with a group of 10 for dinner. We had a delicious lunch! Friendly staff, unique and delicious dishes, and a beautiful restaurant. Definitely recommended.

I had cod fillet yesterday. The fish was simply cold, so I asked them to reheat it. They did, and while it was warm, the accompanying scallop had also gotten cold. I did get fresh, warm fries, though. Lots of staff constantly watching over me—perhaps because of the early hour (6:30 PM) when it wasn't busy yet. I expected much more.

The starters were very good, no complaints there. The service was excellent when we made a request. However, €29 for a steak bordelais with only two pieces of meat, a sauce with little red wine flavor, and NO SIDE DISH, plus an extra €6 for non-homemade, frozen fries, is just average. Considering the prices, you can find better elsewhere.

A historic location (it was the headquarters of the West India Company). The place is spacious, pleasant, and serves good food and excellent cocktails.

It was 5 p.m. on Boxing Day, in the freezing cold and with a biting wind, we arrived at the beautiful building and asked if there was room for 10 people. With beaming faces, we were welcomed in, and a large table was set especially for us. The staff did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable. The food was fantastic; the Brussels sprouts were unmistakably crunchy, and the steak was perfectly served with a fantastic deep sauce. We would love to come back!

We sat down for a delicious Sunday Roast in this charming venue. Beautiful Christmas decorations and a lovely atmosphere. We were warmly welcomed by the attentive staff. They also offered excellent (wine) recommendations. The Sunday Roast is also highly recommended, generous portions and deliciously prepared. We'll definitely be back for the regular dinner menu.

The place is beautiful and the atmosphere is great, that's it. When we arrived we ordered olives, bread and wine as starters. the host completely forgot so we were waiting for 15-20 minutes for nothing. We were some of the first people there before dinner opened at 18h. we ordered our steak frites right at 18h and they still took 40 minutes to arrive. The steak was perfectly cooked and juicy, but no flavor, it needed salt or something.The bread is good but they give you supermarket butter in a plastic cup, for this price i expect fresh high quality butter not this. the steak portion was SO smalli finished it in 3 bites. for €30 i expected more, i left hungry. if you actually want to have a proper meal don't come here. for a drink and a good atmosphere it's a good option.

I was here on a Breeze date. I thought the place looked very chic and felt underdressed. But the staff didn't mind: I was greeted warmly and even got free table water without asking: fantastic. The staff remembered my name and showed they really appreciated my presence. By far one of the nicest places in Amsterdam!

Beautiful ambiance and food. I recommend. However, I found the service a bit disorganized and pushy. I was eating alone and was attended by two persons, which created confusion, as I would be asked for my order by one two minutes after having given my order to another. Other than that, i order the fish, which I thought was excellent, and the steak frites at the table next to me seemed great too.

Great atmosphere, love the design and feel. They were busy, service was ok, bit hectic and rushed. Food was ok. Menu choices bit limited. Portions not huge - steak and chips was literally that. If you’re hungry, order 2 🤣

Great service, came for a gift certificate on a busy Friday evening. I was helped by Emiel, who, despite the busy schedule and not having a gift certificate, creatively came up with something. Absolutely fantastic!

Myself and coworkers came here for a meeting with out of town colleagues. The staff was attentive, the food delicious and very fairly priced. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance of elegant but not posh. Lively, spacious interior. Great selection of drinks and cocktails. Perfect for a date night, work dinner, or group outing (many options for larger groups).

It's my 2nd time coming here. This time I had the Sunday Roast. The flavor was okay. I think it wasn't that much food for 2 persons considering we paid about 64 euros for dish. Wine was nice and service was good. I don't know why they didn't put linen on the table of 2 as well, they had it only on the 4 people tables.
