Too bad. Not enough staff. Hamburger very overcooked.

The hype is well deserved. I had the black Angus with fries perfectly cooked as well as the carpacio. The server are welcoming and make you feel at ease. Also had the carpaccio.

Absolutely fantastic food – every dish was a hit! The music perfectly matched the cozy atmosphere of the restaurant. All in all, a fantastic experience – we'd love to go back!

Visiting tonight, based on the recommendations from Google reviews. They weren't wrong! The staff is very welcoming, the food is excellent, and the value for money is excellent. All accompanied by a pleasant musical atmosphere, somewhere between background music and jazz. I highly recommend it!

We came here for dinner based on reviews but the food was a huge disappointment: mezze for €11 were 3 tiny, not homemade falafel served with garlic bread from the supermarket and a few spreads, seafood risotto from the chef for €21 was boiled rice with mainly carrots and a few calamari rings that we couldn't finish. The tuna steak for €25 was fine but had the same basic sauce as the rice, which was very special. The chardonnay for €7 a glass was tasteless. For us unfortunately not a tasteful experience.

Tip top, a restaurant worth supporting, a one-man show, but the food is of great quality, you feel like you're at a friend's house, a visit is definitely worth it.

A really great restaurant near the Noorderpark subway; We spontaneously drove by because of the good reviews and got a table for 7 people. The food was really excellent, the menu is relatively small, but in my opinion there is something for every taste. The greeting from the kitchen was delicious, the service was super friendly, we felt totally at home! Clear recommendation! Thank you :)

Everyone’s entry was perfectly portioned, not too big, not too small, just right to begin the meal and whet the appetite. I ordered the fish of the day, which was salmon, cooked to perfection with crispy skin and tender flesh. The sides were fresh and ideally prepared. The dessert was simple yet masterfully done, something rarely achieved. Both the Tiramisu and the Chocolate Soufflé were flawless and an absolute delight. The service was impeccable; the waiter guided us and provided detailed information about the dishes throughout the meal, always with a smile and in a perfect atmosphere. The place is charming, and the room is expertly managed from start to finish. The food is delicious! The service was also pretty good, but it took a little long to serve the desserts at the end. The atmosphere of the restaurant is quite good. Although the store is not big and a little crowded, the business is good. There is a restroom and you can swipe your card.

We had a lovely meal at this restaurant, the kids all loved their steak and the grand finale was the most delicious egg custard tart that was made fresh by the owner himself. The service was great and the owner was charming and we can’t wait to come back.

food: it was great, I ordered salmon, salad and a burger, we waited 17 minutes, but for Amsterdam it's even fast. the burger cutlet is very thick and very juicy, the cutlet is made from marbled beef, the vegetables were also quite fresh. the salmon was also tasty, well-fried and the portion was large and they gave a bun with the salmon. the waiter who served us was very polite and cheerful, he said that this was his first day in this restaurant and I exchanged my glasses for his pink ones. it's very atmospheric and nice to sit here. and as a compliment from the chef we were given pea soup. many thanks to the chef and the staff, it was very tasty and pleasant for us

The bavette was incredibly tender, and the service was top-notch. I especially enjoyed the salad dressing, which I think had a raspberry vinaigrette. Highly recommend!

Nos sentimos muy bienvenidos por el jefe, que nos invitó a una ronda de tenis de mesa después de la hora de cierre de nuestra última visita. Lamentablemente yo mismo me enfermé mientras viajaba (totalmente sin relación con nuestra visita) - no poder visitar de nuevo durante la estancia. Estábamos charlando con una señora en Londres, antes de coger Eurostar a Amsterdam. Ella recomendó tomar el ferry gratuito desde detrás de la estación de Centraal e ir a Amsterdam Noord . Así lo hicimos. Y estamos muy contentos. A medida que te bajas del ferry, no parece haber mucho. Sigue caminando. Después de alrededor de una milla , se empiezan a ver tiendas y restaurantes . Encontramos este lugar y entramos. Éramos las únicas personas en empezar ( se puso más ocupado ) , así que tuvimos la oportunidad de mirar el lugar . Está decorada de forma peculiar, pero eso nos gustó. Supongo que el propietario nos sirvió y tomó nuestro pedido. Un amigo que también estaba tocando buena música en su cocina. Nuestra comida llegó y fue excelente. Nada quedó en el plato cuando terminamos y solo costó 5 euros más que la media de hamburguesa/pescado con patatas fritas que tuvimos la noche anterior en pleno Amsterdam. Por favor, haga el esfuerzo para encontrar este lugar - su estómago se lo agradecerá. Y los transbordadores son gratis, regulares y funcionan toda la noche.

This is our first time in Amsterdam and we found our way there by chance. The restaurant looks a bit inconspicuous at first glance. The waiter was super friendly. But what surpassed everything was the food😍. Someone here knows their craft. Very good food cooked and prepared with an incredible amount of love. For me it's an absolute "must" if you're here and want to eat really well. Top value for money !!

This is now the 3rd time in a short time that I have eaten here and the chef exceeds my expectations every time. What passion and quality he gives to his guests and the plate is prepared in his own way, sometimes with a chat and a gift. What a pearl on Mosplein. Cheers and see you again soon!

What great people at De Kleine Kapitein! Last Saturday the 8 of us had a delicious meal in our hair salon. They were so sweet to always bring everything to the other side. And what a treat it was! Really everyone enjoyed it. We also received a delicious soup beforehand, and a shot after our delicious food. I'm sure I'll be there again soon, because my husband should definitely taste and experience this too.

Cozy spot on the corner, warm and comfortable. Not huge, about 10 tables, but lots of room. Fish of the day (Salmon) was cooked perfectly, served with mixed veg. A small Salad was a great accompaniment.

Soft atmosphere, friendly service and good food. The place is furnished like a captain's galley, and the atmosphere you experience is very reminiscent of it. We enjoyed the salmon, chicken skewers and fish fillet. Advised

We looked for a restaurant near the hotel at short notice in the evening. This is on the edge of a very pretty garden city ensemble. We sat outside, that was ok. One had the feeling that it was more of a place for the neighborhood than for tourists. Unfortunately the main courses are very different in size. The “catch of the day” and pasta with meatballs at the next table seemed to be of sufficient size. From the main course selection we had the ravioli and the risotto of the day. Both were appetizer size and were neither sufficient nor appropriate in price. But both were very tasty. ggü is a supermarket - if you don't want to take any further risks 😀

Purely amazing. Amazing food, amazing service. We tried the sea bass and the salmon, both were superb, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. Coffee is also very decent. Seats available both inside and outside. Absolutely recommended!

I tried the 3 course chefs special menu and I was completely satisfied with my spur of the moment decision. The shrimp appetizer was fresh and delicious, the short rib was so flavorful and had a great Smokey taste accompanied by fresh veggies. The dessert was the star of the show which was tiramisu. We’ve walked past the night before deciding to come back and dine, during which we met the owner/chef Hassan - absolutely lovely guy! We came back and were recognised - an absolute bonus for service! We proceeded to order the 3-course chef’s menu and were absolutely stunned. The sea bass was fantastic and so was the chicken. Between courses Hassan came out to check on us personally how everything was going to which we, obviously, responded that everything is superb. Definitely recommend De Kleine Kapitein to anyone in the area, or anyone looking for a great tasting experience when travelling to Amsterdam.

Absolutely fantastic food! The owner and chef is outstanding, and the atmosphere is wonderful! You will not be disappointed. I get to travel the world as an airline pilot, and I can assure you, this is as good as it gets. Comfortable and casual environment, with off-the-charts 5⭐️ food. My lamb was flawless! This small and personable gem deserves discovery!

Delicious real food of high quality. The rib eye meat is soft and velvety. A great addition of crunchy vegetables (delicious beans and carrots). Even the fries in the burger were fresh and perfectly fried. Mr. Waiter was very polite. We will come back if we are in the area.

We were in a hotel not very far away and we were looking for a restaurant while walking in the evening... and divine surprise, we arrived in this restaurant. The map is simple but more than sufficient. Very warm welcome by a young, very discreet and smiling team. I enjoyed the truffle ravioli so much that we came back two days later :)) We spoke with the owner and chef: extraordinary kindness! Really, go there because we are far from the classic tourist restaurants!

Very nice service, attentive and pleasant. The food was magnificent, very well cooked and Chef Hassan very cordial! Small, well thought-out menu with a lot of love for the profession, placed on the table in a casual atmosphere. The wine was also delicious.

I can see why this restaurant has such a high rating. The food quality, quantity and price are all in the goldilock zones. The set menu prices are very reasonable. The bouilliabasse was excellent as often restuarants over season it. The beef tartare was also good. The lamb shank and beef short rib were huge but unfortunately both were overcooked and dry which for these fatty cuts shouldn't happen. It think the kitchen needs to look at how they can retain the moisture in those two dishes. I can tell the meat is actually good but it looks like they were held at temperature too long without being in any sauce or liquid to keep them moist. If I was basing my review on these two mains I would have given them 3 stars. But what redeems them was the special of the day cote de boeuf for two people. That was s amazing one of the most tasty pieces of beef I have tried in Amsterdam. This dish showed to me that the kitchen can produce great food. So my recommendation is too call the special of the day.

My Partner and I stumbled across this little gem whilst exploring NOORD where we based ourselves for a weeks holiday. The staff were wonderfully friendly to us and the food was absolutely out of this world. We visited twice and on both occasions the food was delicious quantities plentiful and the little starter tasters were a lovely touch whilst waiting for your food to arrive. You can tell that it was freshly cooked and was simply put beautiful.
