A fantastic day in beautiful Giethoorn, the ‘Venice of the Netherlands’! 🇳🇱✨ We had a delicious meal at De Rietstulp. The food was incredibly tasty and the staff was super friendly, attentive, and hospitable. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back! ❤️

An extremely overpriced and, unfortunately, equally tasteless place. You definitely don’t get your money’s worth. I think there’s probably not much difference between throwing my money into the canal next to it and spending it here. :) Definitely not recommended in terms of value for money.

RUDE Staff, food has really bad quality! Also not worth the prices.

We came for dinner and were very pleased. The service was wonderful, we ate duck breast and steak, and the cocktails and beer were incredible! Sitting on the terrace was very pleasant, the staff was very friendly and we were very satisfied, I definitely recommend this place!

Good food, with an initially disappointing approach to small extra charges, but excellent service recovery. We were a family of four and ordered three meals plus drinks. I was surprised that an extra set of cutlery for sharing would cost €2.50. Although these charges may be stated on the menu, I felt they came across as unnecessarily petty and took away from the sense of hospitality. However, I raised the issue with the manager and, to his credit, he listened carefully, understood my concern and apologised. He also gave us a 10% discount on the bill. I really appreciated the way he handled the feedback. The food itself was very good, and the manager’s response turned what could have been a negative experience into a much better one. I hope the restaurant reconsiders its policy on these small extras.

Gave us different food from what we ordered. Felt like they didn’t care because we are tourists and they knew we would not visit again anyway. The food itself was average but not worth the price at all. Well in short - tourist trap.

I absolutely love this tomato soup, it's really good! We were group of 4 adults and 9 kids, everyone was happy with the food and service. I wouldn't say it's overpriced at the moment, just Dutch prices and everything is expensive now 😅

We had a delicious meal! We had prawns and mushroom soup as starters, and grilled salmon and veal shank as main courses. Polite and professional service. The ladies were friendly and hospitable, and the host was formidable! He immediately accommodated our dietary requirements and has an eye for detail!! Thank you, we will return again. And don't forget the boat tour, of course!

We were in Griethoorn today and visited the Restaurant de Rietstulp. We only stopped briefly for a beer, as we had bought tickets for a boat tour from the restaurant, and it was already ready to go. So we didn't have much time to look around the restaurant, but we had plenty of time on the boat. The tour through the nature reserve and the canals of Griethoorn lasted two hours. It wasn't exactly cheap, €39 for two people, but it was definitely worth it. The skipper was excellent at explaining the beautiful surroundings to all the passengers in three languages. He was very humorous and knowledgeable; he really knew his stuff, and there wasn't a single dull moment. He always had something to say about the flora and fauna, the history of the place, and, of course, he steered the boat professionally. It was a wonderful afternoon for us; you don't often find that kind of experience at tourist centers. Highly recommended!

We booked a tour through Kruidvat including a snack and a drink upon arrival, a boat trip, and a high tea. We really had an incredibly fun day! The boat trip was super fun and we are also excited about the high tea. Lots of tasty snacks and desserts. The staff was also very friendly! Great activity :))

We stopped at Restaurant De Rietstulp while traveling on the Hop-On Hop-Off bus tour, which provided a 10% discount. My wife ordered the Salade Carpaccio (€17.50) and a Kletskoffie (€5.75). I ordered the Fish & Chips (€20) and a small Coke (€3.65). During the meal, my wife asked a male server for additional lemon. He checked his handheld ordering device, entered information, and then went to the kitchen. He returned with two lemon slices and placed them on my wife’s plate. After finishing our meal, I went inside to pay and informed a young female server that I was paying cash for table #327. She checked her device and stated the total was €86.30. I paid €100 and received €13.70 in change. We then left to return to our bus. After boarding the bus, I reviewed the expected cost with my wife and returned to the restaurant to request a receipt. The receipt for table #327 included two Fish & Chips and additional items that we had not ordered. The same female server advised me to speak with her colleague, the male server who had brought the lemon. I asked him about the discrepancy, and he stated it was a mistake. He then issued a refund of €45. I recommend that customers review their receipts before completing payment, particularly when on a schedule such as a tour bus itinerary. I am sharing this account to document the sequence of events and the billing discrepancy that occurred during our visit.

When asked for an extra plate for the bread dish as it was served on a wooden board, they said it will be charged as an extra service of 2.5 euros. It just ruined the experience.

A fish restaurant – every time I visit this wonderful city of Gershton, I eat fish there. But this time, unfortunately, the fish was soaked in oil.

We had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. From the moment we arrived, one of the male staff members was extremely rude and made us feel unwelcome. The service was poor, and his attitude throughout the interaction was unprofessional and disrespectful. His behavior gave us the impression that something was not right, which made the situation even more uncomfortable. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant. As visitors to Giethoorn, we expected a warm and friendly welcome, but instead we were met with poor customer service and an unpleasant attitude. Unfortunately, this was the worst experience we had during our visit to Giethoorn. Reply on owner comment Thank you for your response. I appreciate that you took the time to reply, but I would like to clarify our experience. Our review was not only about the seating policy. We understand that every restaurant has its own rules regarding terrace seating and minimum orders, and we respect the right of a business to enforce those policies. The reason for our negative review was the way we were treated. We felt the communication from one of the staff members was rude and unwelcoming. As visitors to Giethoorn, we expected a polite and respectful interaction, regardless of whether we could use the terrace. Regarding my earlier comment about alcohol, I cannot verify whether the staff member had been drinking. That was my personal impression at the time, and I am happy to clarify that it was only an impression, not a statement of fact. Unfortunately, the interaction left a negative impression on our group, and that is why I cannot recommend this restaurant based on our personal experience.

Very disappointing experience. We initially ordered takeaway, but after waiting a few minutes we asked the female staff member if we could eat at the restaurant instead. She was friendly, agreed without any problem, and even said she would bring us plates. A few moments later, a male staff member approached us and completely changed the situation. He was extremely rude, told us to leave, and said we could only stay if we ordered more food. We had already paid for our order, so this was both confusing and embarrassing. Instead of explaining the restaurant's policy politely, he spoke to us disrespectfully, pointed at us, and made us feel unwelcome. As tourists visiting Giethoorn, this was the worst customer service we experienced. A simple policy can always be explained with kindness and respect, but there was no need for such rude behavior. I cannot recommend this restaurant. There are many other places in Giethoorn where visitors are welcomed and treated with courtesy.

Great place, friendly service and captain. Tasty food at a reasonable price. Very friendly and service-oriented staff! I will definitely be back next time. Just a quick follow-up regarding the review below: we were seated at the table next door and the host, the young man, was very polite and simply mentioned that a purchase was mandatory. Subsequently, they became very unreasonable. The young man resolved it fantastically and correctly!

Beautiful location and great food. We sat outside and later under the covered terrace. Inside the old part, it is quite noisy.

It was a terrible experience. We ordered pork chops and a salad, but the waiter brought us the wrong dishes. We only realized our mistake when we were almost finished with one of the dishes. So we had to pay for all four dishes. We tried to talk to the man, asking him to skip the salad, but he refused. He only agreed after speaking to a woman. In the end, we paid for their mistake; it was incredibly unreasonable.

Conveniently located at the "entrance" to Giethoorn, this restaurant is extremely spacious, has good restrooms, and offers a good variety of local dishes, mainly appetizers and snacks. Good service.

We had onion soup and hamburgers. The soup was really good, but the hamburger was below average.

The service on July 14, 2026, was excellent. We were there with our dog and were immediately given a bowl of fresh water. The restaurant is also suitable for vegetarians.

Visited around lunchtime. I sat for over 15 minutes without any staff acknowledging me or offering a menu. Since no one came over, I eventually left without ordering. It was disappointing, as I had been looking forward to eating there since I was on a tour.

Loved everything about this place. Superb location right beside the canals. Had the Broodje Kip and Gamba Broodje — both were delicious and fresh. Perfect lunch spot with a view!

Kkday tour group arranged lunch at this restaurant, where we ordered Kroket (Dutch beef strips). Although it only came with two strips, it included bread and mushroom soup. The beef strips were fried until the outer layer was firm, but the texture was smooth and creamy. You could see some beef shreds. While not amazing, it was still quite tasty. Trying authentic Dutch cuisine is a new experience, but I completely loved the mushroom soup. It had plenty of mushrooms, and the broth was rich and flavorful. I can't quite describe how good it was. The bread was also delicious with it. It was a satisfying meal, and if you're ever in Yosemite, this is a great dining option.

We had lunch at this restaurant during a trip to Giethoorn, located in the central area where all the various restaurants are located. Both the salad and the savory pancake were very good, with reasonable prices. We were able to take advantage of a discount provided by the tour operator that day.

A lovely place to enjoy a high tea with tasty English snacks. It was really cozy. If you like, you can also go boating nearby, though you do need to make a reservation. There is even a nice tour available in Giethoorn, which sails through the entire town of Giethoorn with a nice man. Very enjoyable. He tells wonderful stories and we had a great time; it was really super.

Very warm restaurant, very welcoming and helpful staff. a terrace which has apparently been recently re-equipped with beautifull and cosy furniture. We chilled almost all afternoon on the lounge of this beautiful terrace. A menu card varied enough to satisfy all tastes and it's very good. the cocktails and especially the Ponstar Martini passion are a real delightful and the dame blanche for dessert: nothing more refreshing in this heat. the boat trip proposed by the restaurant was just fantastic. the captain of the boat explained and told us the history of this amazing village of Giethoorn. it is truly the Venice of the Netherlands. I can only highly recommend this restaurant and boat tour ++

Waitress today was rude. There is a way to say no to customer, she doesn’t have any manners. We had hamberger and soup with sandwich. She knows who we are. She doesn’t represent you.

Geweldig arrangement gehad. Ontvangst met koffie en een Blokzijler brok. Daarna een hele mooie rondvaart gehad inclusief vermakelijke info van onze kapitein. Bij terugkomst stonden onze fietsen klaar. We kregen een heerlijk lunchpakket mee voor onderweg wat ruim voldoende was en zalig smaakte. De route van 20 kilometer was adembenemend mooi. Het voerde ons langs schitterende plekjes. Als afsluiter werden we verwend met een driegangenmenu. Ook dit was prima in orde. We hebben een geweldige dag gehad met dank aan het zeer vriendelijke personeel. Het heeft ons aan niet ontbroken. Dank jullie wel.

不要光顧這餐廳 Terrible service, rude, racist. We ordered food but not arrive in 40 mins despite we chased 3 times, we can't wait anymore and asked to cancel the order, then they start to cook our order! The manager was ridiculous, he denied his responsibility and say it's the chief's problem. It's your restaurant's problem! Another table got 2 Chinese kids wandering around the restaurant, I saw that the manager was very rude to those kids behind the parents. They know we are visitor and will never come back, so they don't care about service, but to make money form us. Very bad experience, and ruined our mood for the day.

The vegetable soup is quite light. The fried fish is paired with special white sauce, apple puree and yellow lemon to have a refreshing taste. The accompanying lettuce salad is delicious and soothing. The carrots and legumes are cooked soft and lack the sweetness of the vegetables themselves. I like the taste. In addition to the usual boring fresh cream, the dessert ice cream is also mixed with a few small pieces of dried fruits. This part is full of surprises and is a bonus. This time, we provide a meal plus lake tour. The ice cream was enjoyed on the boat. The overall meal, service process and atmosphere were very good!

Two of us ordered fish & chips and the small Thai chicken soup. They gave us one spoon, one fork and one knife. My friend wanted to share the soup with me as she had just ate couple of hours before so we asked the waitress for another spoon. She asked us “what for?” with a “tone” which to our culture it was rude. We explained and she said you had to pay for using the second spoon as they only gave one spoon for one dish. While the fish & chips were quite nice, she ruined it all. It’s my friend’s first time in the Netherlands and she just experienced rude customer services constantly.

Food was good I did order fish and chips Acompany with salads . But I didn’t like the sparkling wine their hot and not sparkling taste bad. Hope next time they chill it properly to enjoy the clients. Service was super entertaining Roy was very friendly and got to tell me that the restaurant was little influenced of French cuisine. The service was fast even their so many costumers because it was a very good weather. The atmosphere was superb front is the canal and the boat tours were there. Front entrance they have a huge sofa to chill. Nice long tables for clients and some space also at the back and big tables inside. Walls was fascinating with all the walls decorations. Bars are clean and well cozy amiable ambiance. Please visit if you go to Giethoorn. Cheers

As a tour guide, I was treated very poorly by the gentleman who bought the tickets for the boat trips. Very arrogant and bossy man. I treat everyone with respect, but unfortunately I didn't get that back from him. So I will never come here with my groups again. Enough boat rental companies that treat you normally in Giethoorn.

We have a package of reception coffee and tea with a Blokzijlkoek and a 2-hour cruise and a high tea at the end. Cruise with Jos the captain. It's amazing how this man knows how to bring fun and is educational too. High tea was delicious and sufficient. Staff. Helpful and very friendly. We had a great day.

We also had a package deal, with a cup of coffee and a piece of pie beforehand, after which we did a boat trip of one hour (super fun and cozy). We had a nice bite to eat after the boat trip. However, I was disappointed that it was delicious. food concerns. There were 11 people there, so we were able to sit at the table at 5:30 PM. Starter, main course, dessert. However, the starter only started 1.5 hours later, in the end it was fine, we condone it, as an adult you can have something. .But when I have indicated to various people at the service whether my son's fries and frikandel can be served earlier, and apparently no response is given to this at all, then the fun is gone for me. I think they can still learn something from it. However, the main course came afterwards, and instead of the arrangement that had been booked, I decided to take something from the menu. So I thought I was going to eat a delicious steak, but was disappointed again. Asked for medium, but I felt like I was chewing on a piece of car tire, although the piece of car tire would have been more tender. We also have doubts as to whether the meat was still good at all🥴. During the starter and main course, no one from the service came to the table to asking if everything was to your liking (very bad). And when serving the drinks, empty glasses were not immediately taken away. I understand that it can be busy, but if you see how many waiting staff are walking around, you can expect some have hope that something will happen and not walk around like a headless chicken. We skipped dessert, so we can't judge that. But in our case a number of people became quite nauseous afterwards. So unfortunately not worth repeating. I would also like to mention that it might be wise to have someone who can lead and direct the staff, since everyone was just doing whatever. Perhaps designate a table for each waitress that she can serve and care for, so that the end of the bill can also be assessed on the basis of any tip. But for now the service left much to be desired. The day started nice, but the end was disappointing!!!!

Aangezien wij 1,5 uur later met de rondvaartboot van het restaurant zouden vertrekken, gingen wij op het terras zitten om nog even van een lunch te kunnen genieten. De jonge bediening deed hun best, melk in de thee, theewater was al koud voordat de melk uiteindelijk werd gebracht, wat voor taart hebben jullie vandaag? Kon men geen antwoord op geven, geen vitrine aanwezig, dus maar een gok gemaakt. Heg vol wespen, is het moeilijk om wespenvangers op te hangen? Aangezien mijn mobiel bijna leeg was (en ik wil toch graag foto's maken tijdens de rondvaart), gevraagd of ik mijn telefoon even kon opladen. Mevrouw (eigenaresse) zei heel hard NEE - alle stopcontacten zijn bezet. Wij hebben in De Rietstulp voor Euro 50,- geluncht en kaarten gekocht voor de rondvaart dus hadden iets meer dienstverlening verwacht. Als je een horecazaak hebt waar heel veel concurrentie is staat dienstverlening toch heel hoog in het vaandel om het verschil te maken. Erg teleurstellend er valt genoeg te verbeteren.

On the river, good beer, good Dutch food

Service neat, fine. Atmosphere is negatively determined by a somewhat patriarchal chef who insults his employees and the public. As a customer you are not looking for that.

The food is really delicious 👌 definitely recommend it.
