Very nice restaurant with free parking. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The prices, as in all of Holland, were very high.

Grand Café Farfare has such a beautiful, historic interior — it really feels special just sitting inside. We tried the fried cheese, which looked like a puff pastry and wasn’t really my thing 😅. But the potatoes and the bitterballen were absolutely delicious, so it balanced out perfectly. Worth a visit for the vibe and the food!

We went there for dinner in the evening, after the crowds of day-trippers had already left. It was very cozy sitting by the canal. The food was very good; we had burgers. The staff was very friendly. Everything was top-notch.

The food was really good and the place as well however the service wasn't the best to be honest, they forgot to bring stuff to our table on multiple occasions which just seemed a bit careless. Luckily the food was tasty and big portions however it's a bit pricey too but they have vegan food which is definitely a plus!

I rarely write bad reviews, but my experience here was unacceptable. I wish I could give less than one star. The prices we were charged were different from what was written on the menu. When we tried to clarify this with the owner, instead of addressing the issue respectfully, he dismissed us by saying we “don’t understand the menu” and even added, “this is the Netherlands”. Dining out should never leave guests feeling singled out or unwelcome because of where they come from. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place because of the lack of respect that was shown to us.

I went to Giethoorn with friends for a stroll and chose Grand Café Fanfare for lunch. The restaurant was very comfortable, and the staff, even when busy, always had friendly smiles. How could you visit the Netherlands without trying some delicious French fries? (Laughs) The truffle fries we ordered were delicious, and the other dishes, like the pasta and salad, were also very satisfying. I had a great experience at this restaurant in Giethoorn! The food was delicious and everything was well-prepared. This restaurant has a fantastic location; it's immediately visible on the right as you walk from the parking lot into Giethoorn. Surrounded by charming houses, vibrant flowers, and gently passing boats, the restaurant offers captivating photo opportunities. Today's appetizer was multigrain bread and a cup of piping hot tomato and onion soup. The bread was delicious when you tear it into small pieces and dip it into the soup. The main course, fried fish, was average. The cuts were difficult to pick up with a fork, and the batter wasn't firm enough, so it kept falling apart. I'd give this dish a 3.5 stars. Dessert was chocolate sausage (I've heard it's a traditional Italian dessert). It was slightly cool, with just the right amount of sweetness, and it got better with each bite. I recommend pairing it with a cup of hot tea or coffee. Overall, it's highly recommended.

Still, one star because the food is the biggest deciding factor. Definitely don't order the "Fanfare Meat Board" here. The price is completely out of proportion to what you get. And then they charge €3.50 for the herb butter (for the steak on the meat board). Why not a tenner? Where a regular cafe has become GRAND...

You order online using a QR code. Both card and cash are accepted. Beers were 9 euros. We also sampled the local beers. We went in to escape the rain. The tomato soup was good. It was nice to watch the canal from the window. While the service wasn't the fastest, it was okay. The ambiance and atmosphere inside were nice. Giethoorn was generally nice. We liked it. If we come back, I'd set aside a full day.

The food was very delicious and the plates were very large. We ordered a chicken burger, a salmon fillet, and truffle fries. They were all delicious. The place is beautiful and the service is great. However, my problem was the amount of flies, which was unnatural.

Unexpectedly delicious. At first, I just listened to the explanation of the young man who drove the boat. An award-winning black-and-white movie was filmed here. It has a very romantic atmosphere. When we were eating, many people came to the restaurant to check in and take pictures. The food itself, every dish is made with great care, and the accompanying sauces are unexpectedly delicious.

This time, I visited it for lunch and dinner. I sat in the outdoor seats for lunch and sat indoors for dinner. It is certainly nice to dine outdoors when the weather is warm, but if you ask me, I may prefer the indoor decoration environment. The atmosphere of the window seats is also charming. The food is rich (the Fanfare Sandwich and Truffle Fries ordered for lunch) and refreshing (pasta for dinner). I especially like the refreshing pasta ordered for dinner, which goes well with the delicious and fragrant beer. Overall, it is recommended as a dining option to consider when in Giethoorn.

Stopped here for a cup of coffee & apple pie. We were helped friendly and quickly, and the coffee and apple pie tasted delicious! A beautiful terrace to enjoy.

You’re told that it is one of the best and most famous restaurants in the area, but the food and the customer service is horrible. They brought my food already cold without the basilicum sauce, without the French fries, and when I asked them where is the rest, it took 20 minutes to arrive. At that point I ate nothing except the French fries. The manager apologized and asked me if I want them to redo my food which I said I want. In the end he took the old plate with the cold food I did not touched and sent us the bill without my food added, apologizing again for their mistake. Weird behavior.

Grand Café Fanfare is a great place to unwind in the heart of Giethoorn. The terrace seating is right by the canal, giving you that perfect postcard view while you eat. Grand Cafe Fanfare is a popular eatery with a few vegan options. I got the vegan burger which was rather ‘meaty’ hahaha with a Moving Mountain Patty. Nice view of whimsical houses and boat rides. Giethoorn is a popular tourist attraction known for being a car-free village, and also for the movie Fanfare. However, there aren’t many vegan options in this village. Grateful that this eatery did offer several choices! My non-veg companion enjoyed their food too.

We only had drinks, milkshakes, and hot chocolate. Neither of them tasted good. All service and payment was via app. We didn't tip in advance. We wouldn't go again.

The outdoor seating is lovely, and the food was absolutely delicious. We had the Croque Madame Fanfare, Oeuf Benedictine, and Truffle Fries with Parmesan cheese. The restrooms were very clean.

20250414 Came to the restaurant next to Giethoorn to have Chinese food. The main course was grilled trout, right? I guess! It's quite big and delicious. It doesn't have any fishy smell. Highly recommended.

I'd avoid. Bought coffee and when being seated in a place under the tent because of the rain, lady with the scarf from cahier moved the chairs to the rain and said that's how it should be. Supposed to sit in the rain?? Bit silly customer service. Anyway, coffee and snacks are much cheaper in the Museum after few buildings with a better service.

I am forced to give one star because it is not possible to give less. This café thrives on tourism because it is clear that people don't return twice. The owner is a truly unpleasant and rude person, and the quality-price ratio of the food is terrible. My advice is to go to another place which, alas, in Giethoorn will be equally touristy but at least you'll be treated politely.

Relaxing in the sun by the water! The nachos with pulled pork were really delicious, very well served with delicious cocktails/iced coffee. It's a good place to stay and the atmosphere and service are very good!

I ordered the lemon pepper shrimp, and the taste was balanced between spicy and refreshing. • Truffle fries? A luxurious side dish with a rich truffle flavour, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. • The avocado salad was very fresh, topped with peas (which I ate with pride!). Conclusion: A place worth experiencing in all its details - from the service, atmosphere, food and even the plants above the food! I would recommend it to anyone visiting Githron, especially for a nice dinner on the banks of the canal.

Een van de beroemdste terrasjes van het land in het door toeristen overspoelde Giethoorn. Het is hier heerlijk zitten en de menukaart is zeer uitgebreid. Prijzen zijn gezien de locatie best redelijk en de porties en vooral de kwaliteit zijn meer dan behoorlijk. Prima plek om te genieten van een hapje en een drankje .

The atmosphere is very nice, the place is very enjoyable. There is a separate playground for children. There was also a large area at the back for events, meetings and special invitations. If you sit outside, you have a direct view of the canal edge. It is Giethorn's first restaurant. Therefore, its historical texture can also be felt. Just because the number of employees is very small, the service can be quite slow, especially if the restaurant is crowded. Let's talk about the food, everything I ate was delicious and delicious. But for example, I've had better carpaccio. When you make such an analysis, the price is a little higher than Dutch standards, but it is not an exaggeration. But everything else was really satisfying in terms of taste. Beverage and beer options are abundant. There are even different recommended wines for each dish, which is a very nice touch. We enjoyed it very much. We definitely recommend it. Will go again. Since there is no vehicle access inside Giethorn, you have to leave your car in the center and walk. There is no parking nearby.

The food is delicious in general. I advise you to take very delicious parmesan potatoes, sweet rib-eye steak for those who love grease, and the meat burgers taste like the old days of youth. I do not advise you to eat pasta. The young man, Mazen, is a nice Arab and will help you and serve you in the restaurant

When we sat down we asked about the menu and dishes and they just pointed to a QR code on the table. You order and pay on an app, that's fine I guess. They then tried to bring us the wrong drink order not once but twice, each time I reminded the server of what our actual drink order was. Then they tried bringing is the wrong food order, reminded them again of the drinks. Got our food and again reminded about the drinks as we still never got them. Ate our entire meal and I finally had to go inside to the bar and ask about our drinks which at that point I got them and carried them to the table myself. Food was average. Not sure how you screw up drink and food orders that much when you order from an app and the table is numbered, literally all they have to do is make the food and bring it to the table number.

Today we sat there with 4 people with the intention of having something to eat. Only the question whether we wanted to order something to drink took more than 10 minutes and we then asked for the menu ourselves. Service never came back to take the order and even a raised hand was not answered after more than 20 minutes of waiting. The staff could mainly complain that they were so tired, not a smile or a kind word could be said. So we finally decided, after waiting more than 30 minutes to order, pay for the drinks and leave and we scored a delicious sandwich at the Plus supermarket.

On December 31, 2024, we couldn't find a place to rent a boat in winter. We placed an order for a boat rental and reserved a time slot through the Giethoorn official website. The address appeared and we came to this restaurant to pick up the boat. Interestingly, the person who helped drive the boat from a distance was a man in a chef's uniform. There is a sticky route map on the boat. You can choose different route locations depending on the length of rental time. If it is cloudy and rainy and windy like us in winter, in fact, 1 hour of experience is enough. It is a test of the human body's tolerance in low temperatures. In fact, we sailed for less than 60 minutes and returned the boat in about 50 minutes. When we returned the boat, we had to moor the boat, tie the boat up, and then report it to the restaurant staff. The restaurant is next to a small canal, and you can use the restaurant's restroom for free before and after renting a boat (some restaurant restrooms in Europe also require an additional fee, but this one is free of charge). If the boss serves meals during a popular period, you will have to wait for him, but overall, they don't seem to calculate the time very accurately (maybe winter is not the peak season?). The overall experience is great, but it is true that you need to wear more clothes~

We hebben genoten van het kerstdiner op 2e Kerstdag. Het was er vol, maar wel gezellig. Het kerstdiner menu was een leuk concept met een keuze voor het hoofdgerecht. Het werd allemaal leuk geserveerd en vriendelijke bediening. We hebben het gezellig gehad en lekker gegeten. Koffie met lekkernijen na genomen, deze waren wel behoorlijk aan de prijs en we hadden de zoetigheden lang niet allemaal op... Jammer alleen dat er een extra bedrag voor de saus bij de hertenbiefstuk op de rekening stond, terwijl deze volgens het menu inclusief was. Al met al hebben we een fijne avond gehad!

1 star is actually way too much for them. From arrival it is clear that they have very little to do with good service. They are slow, absolutely do not want to help you, do not bring what you ask for. They charge money for everything, even 1 small container of ketchup per person costs 80 cents.

Nice cafe. Normally I don't like to write a critical review, but yesterday I received something that was undercooked for the second time. Oliebollen with liquid dough on the inside. The second attempt was overcooked on the outside and not fluffy on the inside. Possibly the oil temperature is too high. The bulbs were collected in bags by customers, but they made no move to stop production after it turned out that things had gone wrong twice. I previously ordered bitterballen there, quite expensive and frozen on the inside. The second attempt, the bitterballen were overcooked on the outside. The temperature control of the fryer may be incorrect. Unfortunately I won't be going there again.

Nice to be in De Fanfare for a while. Film recorded in 1958. It turned out to be a nice film. The atmosphere has been preserved and Restaurant De Fanfare is quite authentic.

For a little break, we stopped for a drink in this bar. The welcome was warm and welcoming. The originality is that you can eat whole peanuts there, and throw the shell on the ground without scruples 😉.
