Had Christmas brunch today with family, but once for us and never again. Food was lukewarm to cold, pork tenderloin was too tough. Fries were cold and hard, with 8 people paying almost 500 euros, of which 2 children did not eat anything and had no compensation for the bill. The owners also sit in the restaurant with their family and eat from the guests' buffet. Not really professional. And the Christmas atmosphere was hard to find. All in all a big disappointment for the price you have to pay for it

The soup was lukewarm with canned balls. Dry meat with too thick and tasteless sauce. And for dessert, ice cream with ice crystals. We have never had such bad food. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone! Unfortunately I had to select something to post! But definitely don't recommend it!!

Open according to Google, so we have mapped out a route here. Then you come here after an hour and a half of paddling and it is closed. And there's nothing else around either. How hard is it to update Google? Very disappointing.

Had a great meal here yesterday with the in-laws. There was a wedding going on, but we were in a different section. Very nice that the dog could come along. Good food and friendly service. Sufficient parking in front of the door. Very dark when the sun goes down. There had been a wasp plague, which meant that a number of wasps were still flying around the room.

Had a very nice afternoon at the Otterskooi on Sunday afternoon. Great atmosphere, and a nice cruise through a beautiful area with the tour boat. And delicious food and drinks. Smooth operation that makes it easy to arrange things. In short: highly recommended!

We opened festively with bubbles. When we inquired after we received the bill, it turned out that this bottle (Martini (!)) of prosecco really cost €65.00. When the waiter wanted to take the order but it turned out that some at the table had not yet made a choice for the starter, the gentleman waited at the table without embarrassment until everyone had done so: very casual and hospitable of him... A tiny tournedos was priced rather haute cuisine for this ordinary family brasserie with dishes swimming in grease. Sole were very nice. It's nice to sit by the water, but be careful; When dusk sets in, no lights or candles are placed on the tables. The advantage is that you won't have to sit around the table for so long and the staff can quickly start serving you!

The food was great, great host, with humor. It was not busy, but with good weather this is a fantastic location when you can sit on the terrace by the water. But it's also fine inside.

Went out with staff. Nice place with a beautiful terrace on the water. Pastries with coffee. Rented a boat. The day ended with dinner. It was very nice that vegetables and meat were placed on the table in pans and bowls. Everything was replenished as desired.

Beautiful location for a snack or a drink, quietly located on the water away from all the hustle and bustle in the center of Giethoorn. You can be here within 10 minutes by car. Wide choice of food or drinks, also vegetarian. Only downside: us The starter arrived when it took us 10 minutes to get our aperitif. When the main course arrived, our aperitif was still not empty, so we had to finish it quickly to have a glass of wine.

Nice place on the water. You can moor here by boat. They have delicious food, beers, indulgent coffee, etc. Fast and friendly service.

We thought we would have a nice meal here, but it really wasn't tasty, there were lots of different vegetables with mismatched flavors, and the main course was overcooked. We said something about it but nothing was done and we had to pay the full price. This is really a restaurant that caters to day trippers who only come once.

Tolle Lage, direkt am Wasser. Wir sind mit dem Boot zum Abendessen gefahren. Alle Gerichte waren frisch und von guter Qualität. Diverse Beilagen werden in kleinen Schälchen gereicht. Der Service war sehr freundlich und schnell !

Telefonisch onvriendelijk benaderd na een vraag tav het huren van een boot. Wegens drukte in het restaurant werd de hoorn er zo opgegooid. Jammer. Wanneer je net iets meer tijd neemt of even netjes aangeeft dat het nu niet zo goed uitkomt, laat dat een heel andere (positieve) indruk achter. Hopelijk volgende keer beter!

We have been coming back here for years, what a great place! What wonderful food, atmosphere and service! Today we had the best iced coffee caramel ever!!! That was so delicious!! Really classy and 100% recommended! In any case, it's great here for lunch!

Spending a few days in Dwarsgracht, we visted De Otterskooi twice. Once for cold beer at the end of a day's cycling, and once for dinner. All the staff are so friendly and accommdating and speak good English. The menu is only in Dutch but you can use Google translate to figure it out. The food was really great, including the vegetarian quiche. Lovely ribs for my son and I enjoyed the pork tenderloin. The meals came with lots of lovely small side dishes.

On July 20, 2024 we were there in honor of my uncle's 65th birthday. We had rented a boat at the beginning of the street and had a nice time there on the warm day. It seemed like a logical choice to eat at this restaurant. I had already made a reservation 2 weeks before. We were kindly welcomed inside by a young blonde lady. She asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. We indicated that our children aged 1.5 years and 3 months were a bit overheated and that indoors seemed a better option. She immediately put some tables together for us (10p) and we were just about to sit down. Then a slightly older female colleague came around the corner and said the following: "We need the staff on the terrace, so if you sit inside it may take a lot longer." First of all, ridiculous comment after your colleague leaves us with the choice. Secondly, I have made a reservation and then you take your staffing into account, I think. And thirdly, what a very unfriendly, unwelcoming, downright rude way to address your guests like that. But she was right. After waiting for more than half an hour, we started looking for menus ourselves. We really wanted to leave, but the kids needed to eat something and cool off before we had to drive home again in the car for an hour and a half. The blonde lady remained friendly, the older colleague very unfriendly. Everything we asked/ordered seemed to irritate her. Perhaps it was the heat... The only one who tried to make our evening somewhat pleasant was a young man. Extremely friendly and competent and seemed to be the only one who enjoyed his work. The food itself was fine. The place is beautiful.

Yesterday we had a delicious meal at the otters' cage. We have been here several times and it never disappoints. Very friendly staff and a beautiful location. If you drop your phone in the water they are also very helpful, and give you a bowl of rice to dry your phone :)

Een prachtplek in het stille gedeelte van Giethoorn aan een doodlopende weg . Daar is de Otterkooi ; mooi terras ook . Wij gingen binnen voor een diner . Daar kreeg ik een zeer smerige schnitzel , die ik helaas voor t grootste gedeeltje gegeten heb ( honger ) . Gepaneerd karton in vies bakvet . De dame blanche was met een toefje koude chocolade saus , dus ook geen feest .

Hork of an owner. Tonight, 23/06/24, we had dinner here with three people, including my 88-year-old mother and my 15-year-old son. Lovely weather, plenty of sunshine and nice on the terrace. Have been here before and the food is ok. Made a reservation at 5:45 p.m., it was busy, but that's part of it. Two entrees, my mother skipped. Took a while, but that doesn't matter in principle. But it took a long time before the main courses arrived, our table neighbors had also asked three times where the food was and people who came later were served earlier and had already left. We also asked and then it was also served next door, while this one arrived later, the relevant server pointed this out. Well and then the (non)hosting of the owner Frank Vos came into play and I ended up in an extremely annoying and unworthy discussion, who had a heated look in his eyes that almost gave my mother a heart attack. What it came down to was that we had a starter and had to wait half an hour for that. Frank Vos took out the receipt for the starter and that was 6:10 PM, and it was already 7:10 PM and my mother had not had a starter. But the point of Mr Frank Vos was actually, "shut up and don't whine". Probably the heat, crowds or the opulence that people come anyway had gone to his imposing head, but this is absolutely unworthy of hosting. I also indicated this when leaving the restaurant and the staff member fully agreed with me and would also raise it. When I asked whether this happens often, there was no negative answer and this has been mentioned before, there was no negative answer either. In short, a completely undignified attitude from a restaurant owner.

I was there on a Saturday morning. Quite busy but service was provided quickly. Coffee was decent but an extremely small container. On the other hand, the price was high. Shame

Nice ambiance. Very friendly staff. Lots of choice regarding food and drinks, although pricey. Concept with various "pans" original but not everything cooked properly (or cooked too much...). Pans empty quickly, with several people an extra (or more) pans have to be added too quickly (an extra amount per pan for this... A small bowl of fries, for example, is already 4.50 euros.. The Beef Tenderloin, Fish Pan or Pork Tenderloin is quite a bit more expensive. Topped with sauce... not everyone likes this. It takes some searching in the interior of the Giethoorn area, but it is fun to experience once.

We had dinner there with a group. Food was tasteless, raw, little creativity, little choice (buffet) and a high price was paid. Indicated by email, the answer will be better next time. No next time for us! Not recommended!
