Café Rooie Oortjes, located at Kromme Weele 5, is one of Middelburg's few nightclubs. A few years ago, the business expanded with a new section in the neighboring building at Kromme Weele 1-3. The name of that section is the same, but it's actually a completely different café. "Oude Oren" (Old Ears) emphasizes rock music. The latter attracts a younger clientele. In 1986, the Rooie Oortjes building served as the entrance to the discotheque/concert venue "Zippo." The café at Kromme Weele 1-3 is the successor to the restaurants "Eetcafé 2000" and "La Lupa." Previously, the building housed, among other things, the entertainment venue "The Silver Game" and an antique/comic book store. In 1972, the building housed the sex shop ''Extase'', which also had its own bar with a catering license.

After I'd had a few drinks, the waiter at the counter was try charge me double the bill on the blue card terminal. He thought I wouldn't notice. It's really unprofessional to try to rip people off like that, I won't be coming back.

Good atmosphere and not too expensive

Had an excellent lunch in this magnificent restaurant. Enjoy the sun-drenched terrace among like-minded people. Enjoy all that beauty, tasty food and a friendly atmosphere that you can only find in Middelburg. It also seems to be a pleasant place to be late at night.

One of the few places in the area where you can party until the early hours. You have to pay to enter, but you will then receive a token for consumption. The disadvantage is that you have little room to move when it is busy.

If you haven't finished partying in Middelburg yet, go here. By now you are blind to the dated furnishings, so that works out well. Party hard!

Actually my favorite café in Middelburg! There is a large ventilation system inside that constantly sucks in fresh air, so there is always a cooling breeze in the café, unique! Also simply the best bar staff in all of Middelburg! Highly recommended.

An ideal place to get pathetically drunk

Far too busy and mediocre music. Bar on the right was ok

Potentially a good bar. People just don't dance here and that is probably because of the mediocre DJ who only plays songs for 14 year olds. At three o'clock people are allowed to smoke inside, which is against the law and should cause this place to close. The policy of this place is so incompetent that it made me sad. So much good could be done with it, but they are ruining Middelburg's only nighttime experience here. I give the two stars for the potency and the bar, the rest was a shame.
