Service is terrible and they just send you away if they think you should leave. We just try to have a nice beer and we don't do anything wrong. In other words we were simply robbed of our pleasant fun evening by that horrible staff. In short, it is not a good idea to sit here and have a good time.

Absolutely fantastic! The stew sandwich was really DELICIOUS!

Lousy organization, order is delivered in pieces, waited 40 minutes for apple pie and then it was gone.

Great cafe with delicious food. Even in autumn you can sit outside thanks to the warm tables. Ordered fish and chips, Kip Burger and poffertjes. Delicious! Staff very friendly.

Delicious 2 slices of bread generously topped with pulled park. Service with a friendly smile. Thank you it was delicious.

The company cannot be blamed. Nationally, we are all faced with a staff shortage in the catering industry. Our experience in the Tympanum was living proof that the quality of the staff is terrible. Two very arrogant young waitresses with the most deadly looks, antisocial reactions and strange attitudes. Only talk to people you know and leave the customer alone. Hope the owner can intervene better in the future! It's a shame. Several tables also complained about this.

You got your order quickly, but the service was not really friendly. A nice location with the ice rink on the doorstep.

Had fish and fries with a little side salad. And a separate fries to go with it. The fries were far too dark and too crispy, fish was good, salad was very good, unfortunately a little little. The drinks are really very small in 0.2 l glasses with 3-4 thick ice cubes and at the end of December... the drink itself would have been cold enough... and the ice only fills the glasses. It was very busy, but we were glad we could sit inside and not have to eat our fries outside. Everything seems a bit dingy, including the toilets.

The waiter is very cruel, rude and when we asked him if we could pay separately he refused and was very ignorant even though we had paid separately before here. He has an earring and has black hair with a very bad style . You should fire him. Thank you.

A cafe in a top location, you can sit outside with a great view. The first order was taken and delivered quickly. When the terrace became fuller, the *one* waiter was severely overwhelmed.

Op dag 1 voor de lunch gegaan. Zeer leuke bediening dus dag erop weer geweest voor het avondeten. Medewerkers hebben fantastisch meegedacht wat betreft avondeten, dit ivm allergieën. het was super. Wij komen zeker nog eens terug wanneer we weer in Middelburg zijn.

Good shaded terrace with a large very friendly staff. Try the vlammetjes: spice snacks.

With the Loaded Fries you can take out the loaded ones, meager portion for too high a price. Focaccia too dry... shame. It is understandable that you are raising prices during this period, but at least deliver appropriate quality. It's a shame that feedback or criticism, fill it in yourself, is not appreciated.

We were almost the only ones. Sat with family near the entrance. Behind us the staff was clearly listening to our conversations and discussing them among themselves. All chairs were covered in hair from different people. Wonder what else wasn't clean...

Very good service. I had a great time. The drinks aren't too expensive either. I just thought it was a bit strange that the staff were at each other's crosses all the time.

Na het consumeren royante fooi gegeven, toen wij onze reis richting de stad voort hadden gezet werden wij achterna geroepen door de ober die ons bediend had dat wij “homo’s” waren omdat hij het niet eens was met de hoogte van de fooi. Ronduit ballentent.

As a tourist you are looked away. We were asked three times if they could have our table and chairs. Staff answers with one word. The toilet smells sour and unpleasant. Drinks were tasty. What a BALL TENT!

Tijdens een dagje Middelburg toevallig op dit terras gaan zitten, een geweldige lunch gekregen! Mooie borden en ondanks de drukte een fijne bediening. Zeer zeker een aanrader!

Had a lovely lunch on a cozy terrace.

After a long wait and asking where our food was (the table next to us arrived much later and they had already finished eating) my Caesar salad finally arrived. After 3 bites I found a thick hair under my salad and the chicken turned out to be raw. Left the food behind, asked for a bill and reported to the waiter what was wrong with the food. The lady in question could only say "oh sorry", grabbed the plates and walked away. It's a shame that a serious complaint (raw chicken) is handled this way. Wouldn't recommend this cafe!

Food was very tasty, but the service wasn't great: slow and a bit unorganized (however there were a lot of people).

Wat een k*t toko. Een dametje in de bediening die het allemaal niet boeit. Blijkbaar vol in een verbouwing maar dat wordt pas gemeld als je naar het toilet wil. Maar ipv antwoord geven op de vraag 'waar is het toilet' krijg je het antwoord ' we zijn aan het verbouwen meneer'. Maar wat betekent dat dan? Is er wel een toilet, is er geen toilet? Pas bij de derde keer de vraag herhalen is het antwoord 'we hebben tijdelijk een Dixie buiten'. Zucht.... Vraag je dan naar de lunch kaart, want het bord met de kaart staat buiten naast de ingang, krijg je te horen 'maar hebben doordeweeks geen kaart, dus dat kan niet' en draait zich om en loopt geagiteerd weg. Wat??? Ga je naar de site van die toko staat er ook niets vermeld alleen 'klik hier voor de lunchkaart'. Maar het staat ook niet op de kaart zelf. Dus ligt dat aan de verbouwing of hoe zit dat dan? En hoe moet ik dat weten dan? Krijg je daarna alleen nog volledig geïrriteerde en gefrustreerde hele bitse opmerkingen als je dan met je gezin nog netjes om de rekening vraagt. Waardeloos, volstrekt waardeloos. Verbouwing of niet het staat een nette service niet in de weg. Niet heen gaan is mijn advies...

Slechte bediening. Je besteld koffie en krijgt een lang gezicht als je om een zakje suiker vraagt die niet bij de koffie werd meegebracht. Totaal niet klant vriendelijk

It's a decent place, meals were good, but the plate was so small a lot fell off. The toilets are in the basement so not wheelchair accessible. And the smell down there was horrible, and it was very dirty

Great tent and service in beautiful Middelburg!

We were only here to have a drink. A large cozy terrace, and pleasantly busy. The drink was served quickly. However, it is priced a bit high. The cocktails are bad. A mojito consists of captain morgan rum, regular white sugar, and lemon (not mixed) instead of lime with some stray dry mint. Red wine is served in a drinking glass. The staff is friendly.

Lukewarm fries and the food didn't arrive until after an hour!

What bad service. We were looked at as if we were paving stones, and the 'locals' kept coming to ask for our table/chairs, or in other words, being looked out of the restaurant. Reviews from locals say good things, but none of this is true. What a ball tent.

We arrived around 1:50 PM and were able to order a drink and were asked if we already knew what we wanted to eat. We hadn't decided on this yet. After that, I didn't see any service to take the order. I took the debit card around 2:30 PM, so they could get it quickly enough. A very bad experience!

What a shame. Large plate on the terrace with coffee and apple pie. So we sit down and ask for coffee and apple pie. We don't have that as an answer. Ask what kind of pastries do you have? Nothing!! We have a sandwich for you. Fuck off with your bread, we don't want that. And they keep complaining that they have no turnover in this corona time!!!. Not recommended... luckily the neighbors had it.

Dramatic service on the terrace, everyone running together, unclear who is serving you. Finally able to order food after half an hour ☹️.

Waited for hours for the food while people around us were already getting their food and were there for less time. After 2 p.m. no one was allowed to order food because they had nothing left in the kitchen. Not to be repeated.

Friendly untrained staff. Can't control the crowds. Too much ice in the drinks. 12 hours is indefinable. Soup seems like ditch water and arrives 60 minutes after ordering! Club sandwich is not a club sandwich but just a sandwich. Portions are too small for the high prices! Not recommended😕

After waiting an hour for a croquette sandwich and soup, the waitress asked if we had ordered anything, otherwise she didn't serve anything anymore because their stock had run out. Half an hour later the food arrived. The croquette rolls were tasty but the soup was not recognizable. Twice 3 drinks fell off the table due to the fragile tables, but ultimately received a drink from the company. No special beer choices on the menu, but it is a great place to have a drink. As time goes by, the service feels less involved...

Nice pub, nice service, choice of different beers on tap. I don't live nearby, but next time I'm in Middelburg I'll drop by again.

There is a fun Pub Quiz on the last Wednesday of the month, which we quizzed again yesterday with great pleasure (and success 😉).

Super cafe!!! I had business research. They were friendly. I would go there again in a heartbeat. But when I go as a customer, they are also just as nice. So a great tent!!!!

The food didn't arrive until after 1 o'clock, the fish soup was inedible, after eating someone had food poisoning, and the waiter had loose hair. You shouldn't go here for the food, but the location of the café is very nice.

Fast service and large parasols for sun and rain. But toilets are really that dirty. From now on, first go to the toilet and then place your order.

Cozy terrace and good atmosphere

Food was okay, ordering took forever, then came wrong and without cutlery, for which we had to wait another 10 minutes. Is only partially tolerable with small, hungry children. Not a word of apology from the staff.

Here is the most amazing experience: early morning I take a seat on the terrace. Owner walks up to me and says "you're too early but what would you like". I say I wanted a coffee and appelgebak, but I guess not, then. He says no worries I can do that, and brings me a terrrific cappuccino w apple pie ( w cream ). Wow I say best service ever, how much I owe you? He says you're my first customer so let's start the day nicely: my treat! Sir, I hope you see this message and review. Everyone should flock to Trympaan - your attitude, and hence service, is epic! Thanks again and wish you happiness and success!
