Food and vibe are amazing! The prices are a little expensive and the last 2 times I have been there's been some type of mixup with our order, but they always take the mistake off the bill so no issues. Love going here

Loved the drinks! They’re a little on the expensive side for the place that this is, but you can tell that the bartenders know what they’re doing, making cocktails that you wouldn’t find in other places. Also, love the chart that they give you to help with choices Only minus it that we didn’t realise this was going to turn into a club… so there was no way to talk and we had to leave although we were hoping to get another cocktail and chat with our group more.

We participated in the Walking Cocktail (WOGO). This was our first stop. It was crowded and cozy inside. We sat at the bar and received very friendly service, explaining all the cocktails. They were also very delicious. We also had a small snack: tostadas. It took a bit longer, but we were immediately apologized for and explained the details. It was busier than usual and everything was gone, so they made it fresh. We found the wait not too bad, and the tostadas were truly delicious!

Great little place! Nice and busy with great music. A bit pricey though; two simple ice creams on tap were €13, and the bartender also burped loudly behind the bar twice, which wasn't exactly refreshing.

Absolutely love this place, best tacos and amazing margaritas

After searching online for a good Mexican restaurant in Amsterdam, we stumbled upon Calle Ocho—and what a pleasant surprise! A group of four of us had a fantastic evening here. The food: authentic and surprisingly delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed the menu and thoroughly enjoyed it! The Tacos Tinga were fantastic, as were the Tacos Camarones fritos with their crispy shrimp. The Jamaican Jerk was also particularly tasty and original. Of course, we couldn't pass up the classic Tacos al Pastor, and they certainly didn't disappoint. The Tacos de Birria were also a hit, and even the Cauliflower Wings were a surprising vegetarian option. To start, we shared the chicken nachos with delicious, fresh guacamole. Drinks that set the mood. The Frozen Margarita deserves a special mention—it was so delicious that I was happy to hear it's also available in a larger version! The homemade ice tea was also refreshing and well-flavored. Service and atmosphere Although there was only one waitress, and she wasn't the most cheerful, everything was brought to the table efficiently. She took the time to explain each dish, and the drinks arrived quickly. It wasn't too busy around 7:00 PM, which created a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. Conclusion This is the kind of restaurant where you can sit for hours, enjoying dish after dish. The quality of the food, the authentic flavors, and the relaxed atmosphere make Calle Ocho highly recommended. I'll definitely be back!

We went to Calle Ocho for a cocktail workshop for a bachelorette party and we had the best time. Oscar was the host and made us all feel super comfortable, matched the energy and taught us to make my all time favourite: a pornstar Martini. After the workshop we ended up staying for dinner and had amazing tacos. It’s a perfect place to go with friends and share a bunch of different things.

Food and service was great. Went on a Sat night and sat right away when in need for a table for 2. If attending with a group, I recommend a reservation. Servers were friendly, drinks were good but the best part was the atmosphere and the music. A lively, energetic crowd and the music was all phenomenal - top Latin hits and much more.

This was our first stop of the Premium WOGO cocktail walk. We enjoyed our cocktails. I had the ‘Selena Gomez’ cocktail, it was sweet and fresh. The atmosphere in the restaurant was calm, which we really liked.

I recently visited this place in Amsterdam and had a mixed experience. The ambiance was lively, with vibrant décor and upbeat Latin music that created an enjoyable atmosphere. However, the tacos were a letdown, they were a bit disappointingly small and lacked the expected flavor. While the venue is great for drinks and soaking in the vibe, there are other spots in Amsterdam that offer more satisfying taco experiences.

Super tasty cocktails and street food

I’ve been coming here often on my trips to Amsterdam for many years and was really disappointed by my last experience. Booked a table but was seated by the entrance while “waiting for a nicer table”, which never happened (while other groups arriving after us got said nicer tables). Food was disappointing and overpriced, prices really went up. Al Pastor had no taste, and I don’t remember having to pay 2,5€ for a hot sauce… Cocktails were served way after the food. And what to say of the waitress who comments “thanks for the 20cts” when I actually tipped 5,2€… For this kind of service no tip should have been normal in Amsterdam. That was sadly my last time here. Many other great mexican places in Amsterdam, and De Pijp.

Such a good spot! We got in about an hour before the kitchen closed at 11 and those chicken tacos were honestly the best food we had on our visit to Amsterdam! The owner was super nice and chatted with us about California Mexican food so we were instantly charmed. Good vibes all around!

The service was super friendly! The food was amazing, best Mexican food I’ve had in the Netherlands so far. For the cocktails we let the bar surprise us and they came with some interesting and delicious drinks. Would 100% recommend and I would definitely come back when I’m in Amsterdam again

Great tacos. We were lucky to be there for taco Tuesday so we managed to try multiple tacos for decent price. I would definitely recommend to go for tacos and quesadillas. Cocktails were very good too. Would love to highlight friendly and helpful service. Giulio was very accommodating and hospitable with all requests. He also was very kind and explained the concept and gave us good recommendations what to choose and try. Ambience also very lovely. The place works till late.

Delicious food, friendly staff, and fast service

This place is called after a street in Little Havana, Miami for its cultural diversity in Latin American influence. The menu and drinks serve the same complexities. I have dined here many times, also sometimes i visited just to have a drink. The bartenders are skilled in making very strong cocktails and their signature one is a frozen margarita that is in a machine that they keep on all night long. They also have their famous Taco Tuesday's same as in the US, when they make 2 extra taco's at a cheaper price than usual. Also they have a monthly taco that they change from time to time. The interior is very colorful and playfull. On the back of the bar there is a wide selection of different types of liquor. It's located in an area on the Albert Cuyp Market, also famous for many merchants. After the kitchen closes they continue as a bar that opens for locals and friends until the wee hours of the morning.

Such a nice cocktail bar with Latin America vibes on Albert Cuypstraat! Interior is not so big but cozy. Sitting even at the bar is comfortable. I found their cocktail menu design so smart that you don't gamble on taste of the cocktail that you're gonna order. You know what you get in terms of sweetness, sourness etc. Despite having such small space inside, tables and bathrooms are exceptionally clean.

2nd time here and just as good as I remembered it. Loved the food, so tasty and great sized portions! Get the frozen margarita! Will be back for a third visit for sure.

Portions are for the hole in your tooth and are overpriced. We had to order the double amount of the pictured ropa vieja to not leave hungry.

We had higher hopes for this place. We had been here before to have cocktails, which are oke. But the food was lacking some love, attention and volume. We had 2 different types of tacos, the fish tacos and taco el pastor with pork. Especially the fish taco had a very small fish portion. The sauce was very minimal and the thinnest slices of lime I’ve ever seen. The taco de pastor pork seemed to have the same flavors as the jerk chicken wings. Overal just not good food, we left unsatisfied and went for food somewhere else afterwards.

The drinks menu here is 🔥 Go for taco tuesday. 3€ per taco is a bargain.

Delicious Mexican food. No unnecessary beans and rice, but tasty dishes!

I didn't eat here, but I did drink some nice cocktails. Nice atmosphere and attractive terrace. I was there during a cold period, but luckily there was heating. After the Zombie cocktail it really becomes a crawl home, lol.

Nice tent! Delicious food, especially the tuna tostadas! Nomnomnom. Not quite Mexican with the sriracha mayonnaise on the tacos. A lot of noise, yes. The cocktails are freshly made. Everyone drinks cocktails here. And it takes a while before you get something, but everything is made with a lot of love and that just takes some time. Helped by an enthusiastic lady with a nice chat. And at the end of the evening the tables are moved aside and people can dance. ¡Me encanta!🥰 Ps; the feedback via the app does not work.

Tacos with cold tortillas cannot be enjoyed well even if the meat is delicious, it is a shame but the drinks are excellent.

Service is non-existent. Especially the security guard, what a terrible guy. Gets off on authority, gets angry himself and seeks confrontation. Never before have I seen a security guard who picks a fight himself.

Good staff, well made cocktails and their food is fresh and well prepared. The staff is working fast, but gives you the right attention. Food overall was just fresh and they have a good selection on the menu . After noticing their Tuna tostadas were chewy, I did inform them afterwards. I decided to order again and they proved otherwise. Cocktails are well made and served pretty quick, even at a busy restaurant night.

The dishes are very tasty. Home made food and drinks. The chicken wings Chuck Norris spicy are very spicy, they include gloves for a reason. Very much enjoyed the dishes and the fast, good service. Cozy atmosphere, but book in advance because it can fill up quickly.

Me and my family decided to have a small dinner at this place, after exploring the city all day. After we ordered drinks and some appetizers, the men in my family figured that they would try the Taco Trio as well. They were still hungry and since the Taco dish was quite expensive, so we all expected it to be a reasonable amount. When the food came out, however, we were shocked. Never in my life had we seen a smaller Taco Trio. They were literally half the size of a tiny hand. My family were all just accepting it, since they didn't want to disturb the owner, but they were my guests in Amsterdam and I felt like I should ask at least if there was something that could be done about receiving so little. When I told the waiter that we felt like we were given very little for the price we paid, the manager implied that this was 'just normal' and that 'every place' in Amsterdam served this little for the money we paid. I wholeheartedly disagreed, because I have been a local for years and located right at the end of the Albert Cuyp is Taco Cartel (for example), which serves good proportions for a reasonable price. Furthermore I explained that we already had several appetizers and drinks, so we were well paying customers. I told them that I felt like it would be nice of them if they could just give us some snacks or drinks (or anything really) on the house to make sure the guys had enough to eat. I didn't want them to leave with an empty stomach. After all, if you are a well paying and respectful customer, you'd think that any restaurant would be happy to have you back - right? The only reply we got was that we 'should just order something else if we wanted more', and that I should 'know better about reasonable prices' if I had indeed been living in Amsterdam for years. I was livid, but still we quietly paid and left. However, I will warn others about the kind of establishment this is. What a total waste of money. If you want to get treated well and get enough food for the price you're paying: just don't go to Calle Ocho and find one of the many other nice spots.

You can find very delicious Mexican food in Calle Ocho - tacos, quesedilla, corn etc. Their tortillas are yummy - handmade and fresh! Try the frozen margarita it's one of the best options. The only downside is the place is very small, too packed, not the best atmosphere.

9 of my friends came in last week and were served by Daphne. She went above and beyond to make our experience enjoyable. She made fantastic cocktails and let us request all of our own music as we were the only group there. We had so much fun and would definitely come back when we are in Amsterdam again. Couldn’t recommend this place enough!

Wir waren gesterb zu viert da und erst sehr verwirrt, weil niemand drin gesessen hat. Dann sind wir rein und hatten super Drinks und auch das Essen hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Langsam wurde es dann auch ein bisschen voller, aber sehr angenehm und nicht zu voll. Der Barkeeper war super und hat uns auch ein paar Tipps gegeben, wo wir gut ausgehen könnten und sich generell gut mit uns unterhalten. War ein toller abend!

Sehr Sehr Sehr leckeres Essen und Cocktails!! Unser Favourite war der Sexy Fruit Cocktail. Das Essen war durchweg Perfekt, egal ob Tacos, Quesadillas oder Empanadas. Das Personal war auch sehr freundlich und das Ambiente gemütlich.

Wish there were more hot spots like this around the world! Julio is an immaculate, professional top-tier bartender and mixologist. The security is tight and allows everyone the opportunity to enjoy a fun evening out. Haven't yet tried the cuisine, but all who love Ocho say it's outstanding. One thing is certain: if you can get in the door, you'll have a terrific time. 👌

Great place for cocktails and Mexican food! The cocktails were perfect and the food was very good! While the food can seem expensive, taco Tuesday is a great deal where you can get each taco for 3€ (instead of ~6€ otherwise)! All tacos were delicious and the service was nice and quick! Definitely recommend for a Tuesday night!

Na lang zoeken naar een gezellig en leuk restaurant in Amsterdam eerder bij toeval op de website van Calle Ocho uitgekomen. Op foto zag het er gezellig uit dus zijn we zonder reservatie naar de locatie gewandeld. Er was blijkbaar pas een markt in de straat geweest zodat de buurt er wat "vuil" en niet echt uitnodigend uitzag... Echter, eenmaal ter plaatse was het een zeer positie ervaring. Bediening was vlot en zeer vriendelijk. We hebben bijna de hele kaart gegeten en er was echt niets slecht tussen. Alles was even lekker, ook de cocktails. Wij gaan zeker terug bij een volgend bezoek aan Amsterdam
