We went to this restaurant based on a positive review in a travel post. We were not disappointed. Excellent food, including dessert, and top-notch service. When we complained about a drink, they didn't charge us for it. I can recommend this restaurant 100%.

Comfort food for an American in Amsterdam. The decor is a bit macabre and dovetails into the whole cannibal theme. Good food and great service.

The place is really nice and cozy. I came a bit late and the kitchen was still open. I ordered one of the steaks and I ended up doing something wrong when ordered and the waiter Daniel was very helpful and offered me a new dish as he could see that I did something wrong bc of the English. He fixed the issue and make the whole experience even better! I highly recommend this place!

A good meal! 🥩 After a long day in the city we were hungry and tired. A google search for good steak restaurants ended up here which was also close to where we had parked the car which is an advantage with tired legs. The food tasted excellent! Would recommend and order varied side dishes and share between them. 2 side dishes are enough for two people. Our waiters messed up a bit with the distribution of the steaks as we had different degrees of doneness. So I think 1/4 got their correct steak. But we were so hungry that we ate what we got. The meat was tender and juicy. Lovely taste! The sauces and dips were also very good! The waiters had a lot to do so the service was a bit slow but we arrived at a fairly full restaurant so somewhat understandable.

What a wonderful experience at this restaurant on the Lange Niezel. The atmosphere is intimate and cozy thanks to the warm lighting from the red candles on the table. Everything was perfect down to the last detail. The food was truly fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed the perfectly grilled steak served on a sturdy wooden board, exactly how I like it. The dessert, with a scoop of ice cream on top of the brownie, was also a delicious way to end the evening. Highly recommended for anyone who loves good meat.

I'm a committed carnivore, so a restaurant named Cannibale Royale had me before I even opened the menu. I found it browsing Yelp, and the name alone told me this was going to be a meat-forward kind of night. Fair warning if you're bringing anyone squeamish about restaurant names: The wife wasn't thrilled about it going in, though the food won her over fast. Getting there was its own small adventure. The place sits down a narrow alley, and our Uber couldn't get us all the way to it, which turned into a bit of a hike. That happened to us more than once in Amsterdam, using the exact address didn't always mean the driver could actually reach the door, so budget a few extra minutes if you're headed here. I normally default to steak, but the menu had a burger topped with pulled pork that promised more meat than a straight cut, and I couldn't pass it up. Delicious. Genuinely one of the best burgers I've had. But the wife's flat iron steak might have stolen the night. Flat iron is one of the most underrated cuts out there, and this kitchen proved it. She was still talking about that steak days after we got home, enough that I ended up buying flat irons from Costco just to chase it. The atmosphere is cool and a little edgy, dim lighting, a lot of character, and yes, some genuinely creepy decor scattered around, including an old doll that stares at you like it's judging your order. It ran loud, but not so loud we couldn't hold a conversation across the table. Service was good, just on European time rather than American time. Getting the check took a while, which threw us off at first, but that's the norm across the EU, not a knock on this place specifically. Pricey, but worth every bit of it. We'd go back without hesitation next time we're in Amsterdam.

The concept and location intrigued us, so we decided to try it out (without a reservation) and have a delicious evening. The "lady" who showed us to one of the available tables responded very confidently to my question about whether we could only sit there in front of the restrooms: We should be extremely grateful that we were even allowed to sit down! We looked deeply into each other's eyes and left. Now to our original plan: We, two dedicated carnivores of a certain age, wanted to start the meal with short ribs, followed by Wagyu beef. All accompanied by a medium-aged Barolo, it could have been a wonderful evening. In short: No matter how good the restaurateur's idea, the design of the venue, and the quality of the food are, the service either makes or breaks the evening!

The appetizer was very good. Unfortunately, the main course didn't impress me as much, since the spare ribs and short ribs tasted burnt. The steaks, however, were very good.

I had been eaten here couple of times, this time I tried the chicken and is fantastic, juicy, fresh and tasteful. The meat for my standard (which is pretty high) is just ok. Beer iscexcelent, the jave a blond unfiltered crafted beer which I love.

We came twice while here in amsterdam and the Food is really good but service was really slow, drinks took 10 minutes to arrive both times and also food took quite a while, at least 30 minutes, ameretto sour kept changing in taste too everytime i ordered.

The bavette was of mediocre quality; it used to be better. The staff were friendly but not very attentive. They often stand at the bar chatting together and don't pay attention to the guests. The wine is also mediocre, too expensive for what you get.

Food quality is good. Depending on what you have it could be an expensive meal. It was very quiet, close to empty so not much going on with the atmosphere inside but its in a good location.

I love the burgers in this place. I have gone to a few different branches, and I went to the Lange Niezel one during lunch not being aware that the lunch menu is reduced and did not have all the signature burgers available, so I ordered a rib sandwich and wow! It was delicious, probably the best food I've had and will probably go again and order the same. Also, it's not usually super crowded early so its a great place for a lunch date.

Good meat restaurant in Amsterdam

We went on a Monday night, so we definitely had the benefit of a pretty chill atmosphere. The decor, vibe, and music were immaculate. The stairs to the bathroom were terrifying but did their job (the bathrooms themselves were clean and smelled really good). The drinks we got were perfectly prepared and exactly how they were described on the menu. Highly recommend.

Everything was prepared to my full satisfaction. There might be some room for adjustment regarding the desserts, but otherwise, you definitely get your money's worth here. The food, service, and atmosphere were fantastic! Only the promised two free drinks upon arrival (we had to wait a bit for a table due to the crowd) were added to the bill. That was a bit of a disappointment... Update: We returned, and as promised, everything was completely made up for, and the experience was perfect again! HIGHLY recommended if you want good food and excellent service at your table. Definitely worth 10 stars.

We went here on a Friday evening without a reservation. The room we were in was really small for the number of people in it, and the lighting was too low and dim for the number of people it accommodated (if they'd been seating couples and the tables were further apart, I could understand the dim, dim lighting). The waiters were polite and friendly. The food didn't particularly impress me; the tartare I ordered was completely covered in the sauce they used to prepare it, preventing me from savoring the true flavor of the meat. Furthermore, the color wasn't particularly convincing; it should have been completely pink (a sign of freshness), but in places it was darker (as if it had been left unused for longer than expected). I didn't touch the garlic bread at all, so as not to further ruin my palate. In short, a tartare fit for Count Dracula, yes, but clearly not for a girl. I had ordered a side dish, but when I tasted it, it was more like a dessert, and I'm talking about the grilled corn with vanilla butter (too sweet for a side dish). Finally, I tried the sandwich, but again, I wasn't impressed; the meat was overcooked and the bread wasn't very soft. A pretty good flavor combination for those with that preference. I wouldn't go back, especially for the price. It's not worth it.

I've been coming here every time since 2015 (I usually go to the one next to Dampkring), and I noticed this place this year. We've been stopping by for two days now. I've tried almost everything on the menu. It's truly a place deserving of every accolade.

It's not a vegetarian restaurant, but there are some options. The food is super tender, tasty, and looks great. Reserving in advance is recommended.

Arrived early enough to get a seat at the bar before it got packed. Staff was very friendly. I got the cauliflower wings and 100g of the pork belly. Everything was cooked perfectly. The cauliflower breading was crisp while still tender inside. The porkbelly had great sear marks and the fat was crisp but juicy. Also had a lychee cocktail which was very nicely balanced.

The food is truly fantastic. The spareribs fall off the bone and aren't too sweet. They have a wonderful char that makes them slightly bitter, and the sweet glaze is truly delicious. Delicious fries and corn on the cob. It was very busy, but we were still able to get a table a little later. The service was very friendly; they could have been a little more attentive at times at the beginning, but otherwise, nothing to complain about!

We booked for two, and we weren't disappointed! The food was excellent, as were the sides. The sauces were very good; you could tell the ingredients were high quality. Even the Dame Blanche (vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce) was generous. I'm giving it 4 stars because the tables are close together, which makes it a little less private.

The interior is quite dark, a pub-like atmosphere. But don't let that deter you. The hamburger is legendary, and it pairs perfectly with a Cannibal Royale beer. We also ordered ribs, which were incredibly delicious. With fries, we paid around 60 euros. The rib portion was quite filling.

I went there twice during my stay in Amsterdam. The first time, the service was good and the steak was delicious, so I thought it must be a good restaurant. My flight was canceled, so I stayed an extra day and tried again, but the staff had completely changed since my first visit, and the service wasn't so great. The first time, the dishes were brought one by one as they were ready, allowing me to enjoy my meal at my leisure. The second time, however, they brought all the dishes at once, asked "Are you done?" when it was clear I wasn't finished, and then they forcefully took the dishes away, which left me feeling uneasy. Because the service varies depending on the staff, I can't really recommend this place. The second time, I ordered my steak medium, but it was cooked to about well-done, so the flavor wasn't great. However, the medium LE MODESTE (250GR) I had the first time was very delicious, and the oven-baked Camembert, LE CAMEMBERT DIABOLIQUE, was also excellent! It was the best steak I've had recently! The chicken wings are legendary. The classic burger is good. The moderate steak is acceptable, but the medium rare is best. They also have an amazing short rib sandwich that's not too heavy—you absolutely have to try it (one isn't enough). Just tell them not to add too much mustard, or not to add it at all. Overall, the restaurant is very nice and you must try it.

The waiter was very pushy and arrogant, tried to take our plates away.. while we were eating, trying to get us out for the next reservation. Unnessessary because we had another 40 min from our 90 min reservation left. Then he tried to charge us a much higher amount than on the bill he gave us. Please double check before paying with card, he was very fast, good that it was too fast for the card device. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I've been to Cannibale Royale before – both here in Amsterdam and in Rotterdam – and I was absolutely impressed again this time. The atmosphere is fantastic: cozy, cool ambiance, and a menu that simply whets your appetite. Our appetizers, the Camembert and garlic bread, were truly outstanding – perfectly balanced in flavor and prepared to a very high standard. For my main course, I had the beef ribs with mac & cheese – simply divine! You immediately notice that the food here is cooked with very high quality and attention to detail. The service was also super friendly and attentive – exactly what you'd expect. To finish off, we had the homemade cheesecake, which was truly fabulous. Price-performance ratio: absolutely fair for the quality offered. All in all, one of the best restaurants in Amsterdam when it comes to meat and soul food. Unreserved recommendation! 🔥🍖🇳🇱

Good food if and great service. Music was a little loud and if you struggle with eating in the dark maybe ask for the best lit area as we were at the back which is quite dark.

We visited Cannibale Royale in Amsterdam for the first time with a group of five colleagues. At first, there were no seats available inside, which was a bit disappointing — but our amazing waiter Ivo worked his magic and found us a cozy table within minutes! The food was outstanding — perfectly cooked, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. One of our colleagues, who’s very picky about steaks, said it was one of the best he’s ever had. Excellent service, great atmosphere, and truly delicious food. We’ll definitely be back! 👏🥩🍷

I went around 3 p.m. It was quite quiet inside. I regret not choosing it for dinner. The La Modeste Steak I chose from the menu was excellent. The sauce and Cannibale Blonde beer truly left a lasting impression.

Its rare to say that a burger joint exceeds all expectations, but this one is it. By far the best burger ive had in a LONG time. Very few even come close to comparing. Tho the atmosphere feels a bit somber and a bit dark, its very fitting for the entire restaurant's atmospehere. Hats off to the team behind Cannibal Royale.

I don’t know the employee’s name, but he looked Arab or Moroccan with curly hair. He didn’t welcome me properly and didn’t let me sit at the table I wanted, even though the restaurant was empty at noon. He told me to sit at the bar, but I came to eat, not to drink! I ended up leaving and going to another restaurant afterward.

I don't leave reviews often, but I feel like this place really deserves it. The ribeye was amazing, really well cooked! All of the staff members were very nice (and quick) as well. Had no expectations going here, but I'm definitely going back! And something worth noting... the knifes were incredibly sharp, as they should for a steak :)
