Relaxed cafe. Good food and great desserts.

Nice little local bar offering simple dishes such as steaks, burgers and venison stew. Very friendly staff and lots of locals to watch. Great on a winter’s snowy night sliding over the bridge from our hotel!

I don't recommend it at all. We went in and they didn't attend to us. After waiting a while and seeing that they weren't paying attention to us, we left.

Upon entering, we were ignored; we had to sit wherever we wanted. After repeatedly asking two different waitresses to attend to us and waiting for over half an hour without any attention, we went somewhere else. It seemed as if they didn't want us there.

We had a reservation, walked in, and suddenly there was no room left. It was very strange, and no alternative or apology was offered.

A lovely spot, with great food and beers. If you're a veggie, try the veggie bitterballen. Delicious! Friendly service too (even after I butchered the Dutch language trying to say thank you and failing badly 😅).

Ignore Lyles review this is one of the best cafes I have visited since being in Amsterdam. A great selection of drinks and the Deepfried Mix I shared with friends was great. Bitterballen and Spicy Spring rolls are the choice items on the menu. Service was great. Considering i speak no Dutch I had absolutely no issues and everything came quickly.

Waited 15 minutes for the waitress to take our order, then another 20 minutes for the food, only to be told they didn’t have the pasta. AVOID THIS PLACE. There are much better options out there.

AVOID this place!! The waitress was rude! We waited over 15 minutes and she walked by us and made eye contact several times. She just did not want us there. One of the local ladies told us we’d live eating here, but when we got up to leave - even she said she didn’t blame us. If you’re visiting Amsterdam … do NOT go here. A local recommended it to us, some of the people eating there were nice, but if you’re not a local … you’re not welcome here (at least not by the staff working 4/21 dinner service). AVOID!!! There are superior options everywhere in the city.

Delicious veggie burger. Usually, when you order a veggie burger, you get a soggy soy patty. Not here! Here, it's flavorful, crispy, and classy. And it comes with incredibly delicious fries. I usually don't like fries, but these won me over. Definitely worth a visit.

Been drinking here since I was underage. 10/10. Best hot side in the world. Too bad you only run into Doortje Sm*thuizen every now and then.

Very friendly man, we just had a drink and a plate of fried snacks, but they were perfectly fried in clearly fresh oil, served with 3 sauces, great!

Firstly, we were warmly received, we immediately felt welcome. The drinks board was well stocked for a reasonable price. And when the sun let us down, it was no problem at all to move inside.

The Bitterballen was delicious, but it was a bit disappointing that only one of the two employees was busy working while the other kept looking at his phone and waited a while after the customer came in to show them to their seats and take their order. The price is not bad, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is nice in the evening, so I think it's worth stopping by.

Had a recommendation to come here and really enjoyed it, a place where the locals go, food is reasonable for the quality you get.

Great, friendly little restaurant away from the busyness of the centre of Amsterdam. Very convenient from our hotel - The Grand Amrath. Good value, tasty dishes. All very homely. We went twice in 4 days.

Bar restaurant trouvé au hasard en rentrant à l'hôtel, c'était complet mais le personnel a réussi a nous trouver une table parmi les locaux, aucuns touristes hormis nous, et quel bonheur de déguster ce repas très agréable, une carte de vins et de bières importantes. Vraiment cool.

Since this is situated right on a corner that is nicely hidden from busy nearby streets, it's a peaceful place to relax outside with a good meal. If the weather is bad, the interior is also very inviting. Great food and service!

Local stop. So luckily not that many tourists. Café kitchen with price-quality ratio that has become slightly lower compared to two years ago. So ingredients are too cheap. The friendliness of the service has improved a lot. Fun terrace at the Oude Waal.

Café de barrio fuera de la pista turística, a 10 minutos a pie de la estación central. Mi esposa tenía pollo y yo tenía la pasta, que eran deliciosos. Los precios eran mucho menos que los puntos turísticos de Amsterdam. Sin duda volveríamos a cenar en este restaurante de nuevo.

I live close and this is my first time. Simply super super nice.. all .. the location is amazing.. and the atmosphere is beautiful.. I took an Hamburger.. delicious .. thank you a lot.. !

Nice quiet place for a drink. Staff is friendly, views are nice, it's not very loud, the clientele isn't touristy nor rowdy, and there are some board games inside. It's near the red light district but it feels a world away. It'd be a pleasant place to meet your friends.

Great local bar with good food too

A lovely quiet and traditional cafe off of the tourist trail. We visited on a Thursday evening and the cafe was full of locals eating and drinking either on the way home from work or out for the evening. Beer was really good….tried the local IPA. Food was exceptionally good….we had a biteballen to start and then steak…fantastic quality and very good value. Service was very good. Would thoroughly recommend if you want to find a piece of the real Amsterdam.

Many regular guests, it is certainly also a neighborhood café. We first sat on the terrace, but after the sun was gone we went inside. It was a nice evening.

Really cool little bar away from the hectic centre. It's lively but chilled, and the staff are lovely.

Visited this bar several times during the past few years - always a friendly welcome. Good choice of beers and fine food - the spiced meatballs are a particular favourite of mine - and the burgers are special. Great staff, friendly vibe - magic

We had three meals here. It was close to our hotel and the food was good and priced well. This is clearly a neighborhood hangout with local people enjoying one another. I had the chicken satay twice. It was so well prepared! It was a refuge where we unwound after intense days. The steak was also great.

You need to read the menu on the blacboard. They have a small choice for vegetarians, fish and meat and all of it is very good

Un petit rad situé en sortie à proximité du grand hôtel. Endroit situé face au canal qui propose une petite carte de plats et snacking traditionnel. Le lieu n’a pas de charme particulier, mais sa localisation permet de s’échapper quelques instant de la foule du centre ville sans pour autant s’en éloigner de trop. Petite carte de bières locales. Service rapide et soigné. Bref je recommande si vous souhaitez vous poser quelques instants avant de repartir en ballade dans les ruelles d’Amsterdam .

i took my dear friend saul here who was visiting amsterdam. the lamps in the back… not very pleasant. however, everything else, pico bello. sowieso heeeeleeemaaallll gezellig en lekker biertjes. 💅

Leuke cafeetje en super gezellig personeel alleen een minpuntje: geen vega bitterballen Edit: ze hebben nu wel veganistische bitterballen!!! Geen minpunten meer.

Vier kleine Kinder 2 - 4 Jahre sorgten für ein interessantes "Programm ". Die beiden Mütter waren ständig in action aber die Väter hatten Ruhe ihre zwei großen Biere ohne aufregung zu konsumieren Das hat sich seit meinen jungen Jahren doch nichts geändert.....

Stumble on this restaurant! What lovely experience we had in this quaint, quiet and friendly restaurant. A true corner cafe restaurant with soulfully prepared food, snuggled away from the busy street of Amsterdam (but still within walking reach) and not to mentioned lovely warm friendly services! Only regret is we are not able to try their many other offers on their chalk board…
