Hier heerlijk gegeten met 6 personen. Wij hebben shared dining gekozen. Genoeg keuze ook voor vegatariers. Mooi pand. Bus stopt voor de deur, is ook makkelijk.

Hartstikke lekker eten. Goede bediening! Vond het fijn dat we de hele avond dezelfde serveerster hadden. Eten zijn kleine hapjes perfect om te delen.

Wij hebben hier met een groepje vrienden gegeten, het is erg knus en sfeervol achterin de Serre. Pluspunten: veel vegetarische opties, de Greek Style Ceviche, Falafel, Steak Bavette en Calamaris waren erg lekker. Wij waren goedkoper uit met losse gerechtjes dan met het vaste menu. Minpunten: dure drankjes, voor een glas wijn al snel 7/8 euro kwijt terwijl dat niet helemaal in verhouding is met de kwaliteit. Sommige hapjes voelen niet compleet, zoals de Burrata waar geen brood en maar enkele losse tomaatjes bij zitten. Overall: 3/3,5 out of 5

The food is super good but the tables are very close together and it is loud inside. Due to the crowds, the service is also very busy and there is little time for a chat, but the delicious food makes up for that.

We aten hier op 2e kerstdag met 9 personen. In het begin was het ons niet duidelijk dat een keuze voor het menu niet gecombineerd kan worden met losse gerechten. De hele groep moet dezelfde optie kiezen. Eenmaal herkozen voor wat we wilde eten heeft alles ons zeer goed gemaakt: van de vega tot aan de gerechten met vlees & vis. Kan ook de sharing cocktail Mister Pink erg aanbevelen. Bediening vriendelijk.

We had a fantastic evening. The Location is beautiful with different rooms, very modern yet keeping the antique details. The Service was very friendly and accomodating. We loved all of the food but would specially recommend the hummus&lab, the cauliflower and the Babette. We will definitely return.

Met 9 personen een heerlijke lunch gehad in de gezellige serre! Mooie broodjes ( alleen geen scherpe messen :) ) en mooie gevarieerde smaken. Vooral ook heel vriendelijk en attent personeel. We komen graag terug.

Hele mooie zaak en lekker gegeten. Echter het feit dat ze in het weekend met shifts werken, vind ik belachelijk. Het eten is lekker, maar niet goedkoop en als je dan verzocht wordt na 2 uur en 15 minuten om je tafel vrij te maken is dat echt absurd! Rustig een dessert nemen of wat anders lekkers als afsluiting was niet mogelijk, omdat de tijd om was. Je mag wel €275,- afrekenen voor het gezin (vier personen), maar een aperitief gaat u maar elders doen! Voor mij een reden om hier in het weekend nooit meer heen te gaan.

Had a delicious meal on a Sunday evening. We ordered the 3-course (8 dishes) menu and tried dessert. It was more than enough for us as big eaters. Nice variation in all kinds of Mediterranean dishes, some combinations of which we were not yet familiar with. My girlfriend has some allergies that were also taken very good care of.

The utter disappointment of sending plates back to the kitchen a total of three time this night, will change that feeling you had when you originally walked into this restaurant. Although it’s very beautiful decorated with a good warm style and very nice waiters the cooking just doesn’t live up to it. The cocktail was a nice drink but I just can’t somehow feel a bit sad when the ice is larger then almost all the liquid in the glass 🤣 a quick reminder to not forget to ask to have it without ice 🧊 We started with the bruschetta which was two pieces of bread for €7,50 And although the topping was quite nice, the battle we had trying to actually bite the bread to pieces took away all our pleasures. It was cold so you couldn’t say that it was because the bread was toasted too hard… but more like we were eating yesterday’s leftovers. Then the croquettes which in opposite of the bruschetta was really hot, I couldn’t tell you if they were hand made in the kitchen because that would explain the price of €7,- for just 3 pieces. We didn’t ask when ordering but, we can say that the mayonnaise was not homemade and chives were nowhere to be found in this sauce. You know that nice little waiting time you have between ordering your food and having it brought over to your table, that time it actually takes the cook in the kitchen time to start making the food you have ordered ….. ? Yeah that didn’t exist here. One second after finishing the starters the waiter came over with almost all our plates. And lady’s and gentlemen we present to you, for the price of €9,50 a cold risotto on a very hot plate.. with the speed of delivery and the state it was in, munched up risotto rice in a bowl of liquid with some mushrooms, we can almost guarantee you that this dish will be a pre-made bad heated up again delight for you. And if you thought about ordering the version with meat for the price of €13,50 be aware that it’s the same as the vegetarian one.. al they did was scoop some €4,- spoons of meat on top of the original one 🎊 Yes we did send this back to the kitchen, and it came back hot this time, we do suspect some help of the microwave but we can’t say for sure. 😉 On to the final of the night, and one I was really looking forward to. The cauliflower dish for €8,50 that was so salty it was impossible to eat. Sending it back to the kitchen two time didn’t help because it sadly came back the same. On a positive note we didn’t had to pay for it as the waitress took it off our bill. Maybe it’s bad communication in the kitchen or bad chefs but for our experience we will not be returning again.

With the great staff and delicious food, it could be great experience but at entrance I faced a stubborn table arranger which did not handle requests politely. I wanted to remind him that I am not asking for free food of course and every customer there wants to pay for a pleasant dinner. Fortunately the other staff where lovely and helpful and the food was value for money.

We were with a company of 20+ people for a shared dinner. We've also ordered oysters as an appetizer. Everyone who ate them (around 8 people I know) was poisoned. With all the possible symptoms and high temperature. It's impossible to think there's such a low level of control and service, so the restaurant poisons its guests. I am not even talking about burrata being not fresh in the salad and other funky plates which made no sense to me taste-wisw. The risotto with beef was the only one nice dish that evening. The deserts leave much to be desired: over sweetened brownie and the tiramisu, which I would never guess it is unless I am told by the waiter.

Wonderful restaurant to eat! Fantastic decoration and plenty of dining options. Eating in a Mediterranean atmosphere with fun and unique dishes to share! With 3-4 dishes, excluding small snacks, you have eaten more than enough. Price-wise also very good, but this was without alcohol for us. Same owners as Streetfood club (and more)

The location is very central, the food variety is very rich, the staff is very talented and friendly, and the prices are quite reasonable for the quality of the food you eat. The lamb was delicious.

A wonderful place for a (rather fancy) dinner or just some good drinks and snacks (great cocktails for around 10-12 euro and incredible fries for just 4,50 euro!). We went for the tasting menu and were originally planning to get a dessert as well, but the menu was so filling that we abandoned that plan later on haha! Truly great food and wonderful drinks. I also have to mention the service - we were first seated under the glass roof, but asked for another table after an office christmas party sat down beside us and it got quite loud. Within minutes we were given another table within a quieter part of the restaurant. We were really satisfied with the work of the waiters and waitresses that evening :)

Unfortunately, another shared dining concept where you pay a lot for little food. It was so busy that some dishes arrived at the table cold. I had made a reservation about a week in advance and was seated at the narrow long table in the middle. It's very uncomfortable to sit here because you're in the middle of the passage! You could use this table for walk-ins, but not for reservations. When making the reservation, I had added in the comments that we were coming for a festive occasion, but nothing was done or said about this. Why do you even give that option? Not everything was bad; the staff was friendly and the cava was tasty.

Unfortunately, not what we expected on Saturday evening, November 23, 2024. The food was good, but the service was a lot less so. On the first round, the waitress dropped a beer on a friend of mine. Apart from a quick 'sorry' and 'here's a cloth', there was no compensation whatsoever and they also left a puddle of beer on the floor until we said something about it later. Meanwhile, one of us was left with totally wet and smelly pants for the rest of the evening. Furthermore, it went very quickly, while we were still enjoying the first round of beers, the first course was already on the table. We had a matching wine arrangement with this. It was a bit strange that the first course was already on the table even though we had not yet taken a sip of the beers. So at one point we had both wine and beer on the table because this was part of the 1st course. The first course should never have been on the table so quickly. Furthermore, there was no time for desert, we had to pay because our table was reserved for the next group. That explains why everything is happening so quickly. Very unfortunate, apparently quantity of guests outweighs quality. There could have been more people, the place is nicely decorated and the food tastes good, but the service really needs to be better.

Wat een FANTASTISCHE plek is dit. Mooie inrichting, fijne sfeer, en alles klopt. Het eten is echt verrukkelijk, bijzondere smaakvolle gerechten, de bediening is attent en zeer vriendelijk en de wijnen zijn ook heerlijk. Wat wil je nog meer.Ik kom zeker terug.

In 6 years, this is the first time in the Netherlands, I have been able to say this restaurant is just perfect.

The staff was super friendly and the atmosphere is also great for drinks. We had some great food but some dishes are also very average. The risotto came very quick and tasted like rice pudding, it was probably cooked in a big batch and held warm for longer. Everything else was great!

Delicious dinner at Carmel. Not too big snacks, but certainly enough to fill your tummy. Nice to fill. There were just the two of us and we shared dining. Definitely recommended. Dessert is also definitely recommended. Especially the pistachio tiramisu. The wines are also highly recommended. It is also a nice walking distance to the Beatrix Theater. Definitely worth combining if you have tickets for Moulin Rouge. There is certainly plenty of choice here for non-meat eaters. Atmosphere was good, service was good and friendly and the appearance of the restaurant was also pleasant. Will definitely come back when the opportunity arises. Thank you!

Friendly and fast service. In general the food was delicious, but we found a few (parts of) dishes less so. We had a fantastic evening together and will definitely come back again.

The food was disappointing, but not bad.

Shared dining with delicious varied dishes. We took the menu, where you get a selection from the menu and can choose your own dish. Good service and beautifully decorated. And of course delicious cocktails!

We came quite late in the evening and were really happy to get a table here. The staff was super friendly and recommended just the right amount of dishes for us to share. The atmosphere was lively and the interior of the restaurant is stunning, they really made the most out of this old stuck-decor house. The food was good overall, but I have to point out 2 things - the fried calamari was crunchy but the sauce on the base of the bowl was too salty. The quartet of desserts was good, but the cannoli and pasteis de nata were a bit underwhelming. Maybe the ambition to offer many fusion / foods from different cuisines caused the authenticity of the individual taste to dilute. Overall a nice dinner experience.

My go-to restaurant in Utrecht. I have been here many times over the years and the food is always stellar. The staff and service is impeccable and most of all the atmosphere is cosy and inviting.

Super food, best service, sublime atmosphere

Beautifully decorated restaurant, where you can sit comfortably despite the crowds. They use the shared dining concept here. The dishes are tasty. There is a lot of choice, but most options are not very innovative.

Despite the 4 stars I won't be back. Food is good, service excellent and nicely and cozy decorated. But the acoustics are so bad that I don't want to eat there anymore. Too many noises and cacophony. Difficult to understand table companion. Too bad because otherwise a nice restaurant.

We had already been there 2 years ago and it was already fantastic. Now 2 years later we are still surprised at how much fun and delicious food we had. We were a bit early for our reservation and luckily we were able to enjoy a delicious cocktail at the bar, nice to start like this. Once at the table we ate delicious dishes, our first round of cold dishes were great. Only the pasta with shrimp was a bit boring, other than that everything was good. The price we ultimately paid was also lower than we expected. In short, definitely recommended!

Pitas were dry, hummus as if it came from a container from Albert Heijn, actually all dishes were disappointing. Staff seemed rushed and uninterested. We had to ask several times for dishes that we had ordered but not yet received. Toilets dirty and the whole place very noisy.

The food looked amazing, but was also a bit too expensive (even for sharing dishes) I would return but hope they have made the place a bit more accessible for young adults.

DON’T ORDER “the best of the menu”. We were 3 and the portions were more for 2 or even 1 person. If you order just a à la carte one of the dishes in each round you’ll pay almost the same and have more food. The food was very tasty.

Hands down one of my favourite restaurants in the Netherlands! Loved the flavour of the food. Would order the Fig and Beets and the sujuk dishes again. Burrata and falafel were also extremely tasty! Lemon pie was also amazing. The cocktails are also quite good.

Gereserveerd voor 7 personen. Zaten heerlijk in de serre met 30 graden buitentemperatuur. Zo ongeveer alles van de kaart besteld en niets viel tegen. De porties zijn voldoende om te delen en heb je een favoriet gerecht dat eet je dat toch lekker in je eentje. Fles witte en rosé erbij + plat en bruisend water ( mag beter gekoeld of zet wat ijsblokjes op tafel) Tot slot een dessert voor wie er nog zin in had . De prijs ? €38,= pp zeker niet te veel voor wat je voorgeschoteld krijgt. Je gaat hier niet met honger van tafel!

We ordered Spaghetti Gamberetti which tasted great, totally recommend it! The spaghetti was cooked well and it was full of garlic flavour.

Very nice restaurant with a chill atmosphere. The shared meals menu was delicious, greatly enjoyed with the group I had.

Tisch schon vor Reiseantritt online gebucht. Leider wurde uns lediglich ein Bistrotisch angeboten mit dem Hinweis es gäbe einen Unterschied bei der Buchung zwischen Tisch im Restaurant bzw. im Bistro. Egal… aber was leider nicht egal ist, ist das die Tische so eng stehen, das man mit den Tischnachbarn Rücken an Rücken, Popo an Popo sitzt. Aperitif geordert, super lecker, dann Starter und Maincourse geordert. Spätestens jetzt wäre ein Hinweis auf das Konzept gut gewesen. Innerhalb kürzester Zeit wurden alle Bestellungen an den Tisch geliefert. Der Aperitif gerade mal angetrunken. Nach Nachfragen hatten wir das Konzept endlich auch verstanden. Alles war sehr lecker da kann man nicht meckern. Allerdings wurde seit dem Zeitpunkt kein Service mehr an unserem Tisch gesehen. Fazit, Speisen und Aperitif sehr lecker, sehr schön angerichtet. Service zwar freundlich aber wurde zu selten gesehen. Tischsituation im Bistro miserabel. Es war so unangenehm, das wir das Lokal sofort nach dem Essen verlassen haben. Schade, das könnte man besser lösen…..

After reading the reviews, I was really looking forward to having dinner at Carmel Market with my friend after an afternoon of shopping. I actually wanted to go to Ruby Rose first, but because I read the reviews there about (too) small portions, I thought I would go for a better alternative. The welcome was friendly and the service was alert. Carmel Market is located in a beautifully decorated building with authentic details, which gave a nice atmosphere to the dining room where we sat. So far the only downside is that the toilets were far from clean. We ordered a bottle of Rosé and it tasted delicious too. Then we went for 3 dishes as a "starter", the burrata, the steak tartare and the tuna. The steak tartare was tasty (not much can go wrong) and the burrata was reasonable. It was certainly not a culinary tour de force and could have used some bread to dress up the dish a bit more. The tuna was tasteless with a sauce that did not match it at all, this dish was very disappointing. Together, the 3 dishes were just about the size of one starter in many other restaurants, so we were already a bit hesitant about the size of the next course. We hopefully ordered 4 dishes as "main course": the steak tagliata, the baba duck, the risotto porcini and the spaghetti with prawns. The steak consisted of 5 thin slices of meat, which tasted good. The baba duck was a small piece of duck breast fillet with pieces of eggplant that we did not like. The risotto with a piece of short rib turned out well and tasted great. The laugh of the evening was the spaghetti. It was decorated with a few herbs and yes, 3 whole prawns. I'm not a special cook, but I'm sure I could have made this better myself. The 4 dishes together were as large as the size of one main course in many other restaurants. All in all, 4 of the 7 dishes were quite disappointing and perhaps we are big eaters, but we should have ordered at least 5 to 7 dishes (without dessert) to have enough. We did not like this given the size, quality and price of the dishes we had already received and we therefore decided to move on. The bill for half the dinner was over €110, which in our opinion was absolutely not worth it. We have not had such a bad experience in a restaurant in a long time and I would certainly not recommend it to anyone.

Na het lezen van de recenties had ik me erg verheugd om na een middagje shoppen samen met mijn vriend bij Carmel Market te gaan eten. Eigenlijk wilde ik eerst naar Ruby Rose gaan, maar omdat ik daar in de reviews las over (te) kleine porties dacht ik voor een beter alternatief te gaan. De ontvangst was vriendelijk en de bediening was alert. Carmel Market is gevestigd in een mooi aangekleed pand met authentieke details wat een leuke sfeer gaf aan de eetzaal waar we zaten. Tot zover het enige minpuntje dat de toiletten verre van schoon waren. We bestelden een flesje Rosé en die smaakte ook heerlijk. Vervolgens gingen we voor 3 gerechtjes als "vooraf", de burrata, de steak tartaar en de tonijn. De steak tartaar was lekker (kan ook weinig aan mis gaan) en de burrata redelijk. Het was zeker geen culinair hoogstandje en er had wat brood bij gekund om het gerecht wat meer aan te kleden. De tonijn was smaakloos met een saus die er totaal niet bij paste, erg teleurstellend dit gerecht. De 3 gerechtjes haalden samen net aan de omvang van één voorgerecht in menig ander restaurant, dus we waren al wat huiverig voor de omvang van de volgende gang. Hoopvol bestelden we 4 gerechten als "hoofdgerecht": de steak tagliata, de baba Duck, de risotto porcini en de spaghetti met gamba's. De steak bestond uit 5 dunne dunne plakjes vlees, die wel goed smaakten. De baba duck was een klein stukje eendenborstfilet met stukjes aubergine erbij die wij niet lekker vonden. De risotto met een stukje shortrib was dan weer wel goed gelukt en smaakte prima. De lacher van de avond was de spaghetti. Die was opgeleukt met een paar kruiden en jawel 3 hele gamba's. Ik ben geen bijzondere kok, maar ik weet zeker dat ik dit zelf beter had kunnen maken. De 4 gerechtjes samen waren net zo groot als de omvang van één hoofdgerecht in menig ander restaurant. Al met al vielen er dus 4 van de 7 gerechtjes flink tegen en wellicht zijn wij grote eters, maar wij hadden nog zeker 5 tot 7 gerechtjes moeten bestellen (zonder dessert) om voldoende te hebben. Dit zagen wij gezien de omvang, de kwaliteit en de prijs van de gerechtjes die we al hadden gekregen niet zitten en we besloten daarom om verderop te gaan. De rekening voor het halve diner bedroeg ruim € 110,- wat het in onze optiek absoluut niet waard was. Wij hebben in tijden niet zo'n slechte ervaring gehad in een restaurant en ik zou het daarom zeker niemand aanraden.

Nicely decorated restaurant at the NH hotel. High-quality and creative dishes that you can order throughout the evening. But for me the sharing system is not 100% perfect. One moment the plates came very slowly and suddenly the table was full and it couldn't go fast enough, which took away the enjoyment a bit. The different dishes are also not consistent in size, which together with the pace makes it difficult to order correctly. The acoustics were also not ideal, it is a large place that can accommodate a lot of people. Especially in a group, this was a challenge to understand everyone at the table. It was nice that on a warm summer evening the staff immediately provided fresh water for the dog.

Really nice spot but the food was not that great unfortunately. The starters were ok. The main dishes were also not the best, the risotto was very plain and the dorade was very chewy and not cooked properly. The desert was good, I had the pastel de nata. Overall it was not worth the 35€ per person for a menu that you share with 2 people. The portions were very small, we were all still hungry after. I had very high expectations especially with the 4,4 stars reviews but unfortunately the overall experience was disappointing.

Very surprising food. Took “baba duck” and “steak togliata”, really liked it. Cocktail was precise as well. The place itself is nice and cool, loved sitting there. Stuff was also very warm. They have a tastings menu which i didnt try but next time A must go!

Came here for dinner with my partner and ordered the following per round: - Round one: Olijven Bruschetta mediterranea Risotto porcini Wilde ijsthee Madame gember - Round two: Vijg en biet Tonijn tartaar - Round three: Spaghetti gambaretti (love the touch of chilli) - Round four: Lemon pie in a coupe We found our dining experience enjoyable with most dishes very well put together and service to be attentive and friendly. We would say that nearly all dishes had a good flavour profile, yet there was room for improvement. For instance: the tartar tuna was very soggy and underwhelming. The lemon pie in a coupe was like eating pure grains of sugar and the merengue/custard ratio could have done with less merengue. The ice teas we ordered were with sparkling water and we found them to be a nice touch to our meal. Overall we had a good experience dining here and would recommend this place.

If you like shared dining, this is a great spot. The small, tasty bites are very flavorful—I highly recommend the tajine and the meat dishes! The decor is really nice, and it's a busy, cozy restaurant without music. However, I don't recommend the lemon dessert; it was quite dry.

Terrible service, extremely slow. They did not want to serve us five minutes before 6 p.m. and the waiter was extremely rude and rude. We will not return.

Really nice meal here. Together we chose a three-course menu 'to share'. Surprising dishes and ingredients: Falafel, sea bream, pimentos, bruschetta with sardines. From everywhere and really all good. Service was fine, the place was a bit too busy for my taste, but still beautiful.

We had dinner here and went for some shared dishes. The portions were really small, each dish was pretty much 3 or 4 bites, similar to a fine dining tasting menu, however, the food does not qualify for fine dining, whether you consider flavor, presentation or creativity. The food still tastes very good don't get me wrong, just not exceptional. Kudos to them for trying to be creative with some menu items, but some choices are questionable. For example there's baba duck which is smoky baba ganoush with 1 slice of duck breast, even though the 2 parts are both cooked excellently on their own, I still think it's a bizzare combination and the flavors don't balance each other out. There are other examples of inventive but not necessarily well-thought out dishes. The more conventional side of the menu is nice. They did not have bread or fries on the menu so you really don't have anything on the side, not sure if you can ask for them. The interior decorations were beautiful, the music was a bit loud and didn't fit the ambiance. The service was of standard Dutch quality. Really good food, nice atmosphere and great service

Food was great and came in big portions. They have a small menu, but still variety. Both vegetarian and lowcarb options. Music inside was very loud though, and the decorations didn’t feel super authentic, but a bit staged.

Nice atmosphere, beautiful decor and tasty dishes. But there were lines at the toilets every time, and the toilets are dirty, not to be seen!

Beautiful restaurant with beautiful food. I was worried about the portion size but our waitress described it perfectly. She said expect about 70% of normal portion so for two people, 3 dishes would be good. We loved everything we ordered, but the cauliflower and tuna were definitely the winners!

The food was great. We were well received, but the service deteriorated afterwards. The order had to be taken even though the card had not yet been seen. Then it took way too long again, given the time pressure due to the time slot. We were reminded of the time slot for each order and it was always incorrect. The first time, the time slot would last another hour. Then another hour and a quarter, then two hours and a quarter, until I had to prove with the reservation that it would take 2.5 hours. Very unfriendly.

Service was very friendly, helpful and fast. Food was really tasty and price is also great. Atmosphere is cozy and it was busy. Definitely worth visiting again.

Very nice restaurant, nice atmosphere, delicious food and friendly staff. We had a table in the conservatory. Personally, I think the front part is a bit more cozy than the conservatory. Tasty cocktails, also non-alcoholic. Some more vegetarian options would be nice, especially with the desserts. Definitely recommended to visit in Utrecht.
