I was really looking forward to the food at Chengdu Hotpot and BBQ however was greatly disappointed by the variety and the taste of the food. There wasn’t a great variety of skewers in the fridge and honestly the fridge just looked kind of sad at 6pm. I ordered multiple dishes, the fried food was not too bad - liked the spring rolls and the fried ebi prawns. However the fried rice was the worst, there wasn’t no flavour and no taste to it. Just plain white rice and egg - as an asian, i think i expected more. The other thing that irked me was that every single time i wanted to order dishes, i had to wait 4 minutes before i could place my order and there was a maximum number of 4 dishes i could order each round. This seemed like a technology issue? One thing that greatly impressed me was the hardworking staff who were busy wiping the tables and chairs down to every single bit. They continuously came over to clear the empty dishes on my plate. So, service was great.

So many delicious things, great service, and a cozy atmosphere. Discovering new flavors, like this lotus with shrimp... delicious rice stick dipped in a delicious sauce that you can create yourself. Thanks again.

I think the idea and concept are great. The food, or rather the quality, is also excellent. We're not so happy with the service, but what isn't there yet can still be improved.

Very authentic Chinese food. We had their Ala carte dishes (not hotpot). Grilled fish, hot and sour soup, etc were all good.

Not recommended at all. The food didn't feel fresh at all and the table wasn't cleaned and was covered in oil. The food was served slowly. If you haven't eaten there before, you can try it. And the ventilation is the same whether it's on or off. It's so hot inside.

Omg… you cannot go wrong coming here! Their chicken base soup is to DIE for!! Came here back in 2022 and loved the food, atmosphere, and service. Came back 2 years later and thankful they’re still open but the taste has not changed one bit. It was a craving that I’ve had for the past 2 years and finally coming in and eating there was the best birthday present EVER. Some things have changed but for the best. They now have refrigerators with all these additional ingredients to put into your hot pot. You can customize to your heart’s desire.

We had to wait 40 minutes even though we had a reservation. We made the reservation for 8:30 PM, and we weren't allowed to sit at our table until 9:15 PM. After that, each round took more than 20 minutes for the food to arrive. The groups of Chinese people who sat next to us were seated at the same time. Could they have gotten their food faster from the kitchen (I think the restaurant gives them priority?). Unfortunately, a lot of dishes and meat at our table were skipped. We ordered five large beers, and they didn't arrive until 20 minutes after I spoke to the receptionist. It was a busy day, which I understand, but I waited 40 minutes for this poor service.

Great place for Korean BBQ and hotpot. The prices are a bit high, but for BBQ and hotpot, it's definitely fine. It's great that we can also grab our own food, and there's plenty of choice!

This hot pot and barbecue restaurant is really great! The ingredients are fresh and the portions are large, especially the beef and seafood, which are very tender and smooth, and fully satisfy the Chinese stomach🤤 The combination of barbecue and hot pot is very novel. It is super fun to grill while shabu-shabu, and there is a special atmosphere for friends to have a meal together! The service attitude is also very good, the waiter is very enthusiastic and will actively recommend dishes👌 I am so happy to find such an authentic and creative Chinese restaurant in Amsterdam! I will definitely come again~

Simply delicious and good service

For the 16th time in 3 months ordered and picked up a dish of tenderloin with yu xiang sauce. Then it must be good, right? A bowl of extra white rice and then enough meat and rice for 2. All for less than € 30, -

Great, I had been interested in the concept of the table BBQ for a while and really enjoyed doing it. But I had not heard of the hotpot variant before. The combination was a lot of fun to do and the food was very diverse and very tasty. There is a nice atmosphere, I will definitely go here again!

Eating here is fun and cozy. You can have soup (for cooking the food) and BBQ at the same time. The ordering process is simple and extra chargeable foods are marked accordingly. The service is friendly and quick. One disadvantage is that the grill is a bit slow and you have to leave the meat longer until it is cooked through. It's worth making a reservation on the weekend. There was a bit of a draft where we sat, but it was bearable. The restaurant is easily accessible by bike and has bicycle parking spaces.

We had to wait a very long time until we got our broth, people who came to sit later than us got their food earlier, our table was attached to another table... And these people had a table full of food and we got nothing here and a bowl of noodles here and there. Until we realized that when we ordered food, everything was put on the neighbors table and so the neighbors at the table next to us said did you order this and they then passed it on to us.. Ridiculous as it was indicated to the service but that was of no use, all orders continued to be placed on the neighbors table... Which really ruins the atmosphere if you want to go out for a nice meal and you always have to watch where your food is..

Hotpot! Came to Amsterdam just to try hotpot (Zwolle unfortunately doesn't have it) We went with the golden chicken/spicy combined hotpot. There's a dipping sauce bar and a refrigerator filled with veggies, meats and noodles (all included). The tablet system allows you to order additional dishes, 4 per person per round. Took a while to master the art of fishing noodles out of the hotpot but we managed. Had a great time. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and the food was delicious. Some of our favorites tonight; pork wontons, fried shrimp, bok choy, custard buns, siu mai & not to forget: dragon fruit milk tea. Worth the trip and would love to visit again!

The last three times we had a great meal, great service, wide selection and especially the right cupboard with desserts (matcha pudding! Fresh fruit!) was put to good use! This time the lamb skewer was more fat and oregano than meat. We also asked three times for desserts & fruit, after which we heard three times that it was coming. Ended up with banana puff & two ice cream cakes, but no pudding, no fruit. Ordered the fruit from the menu; two types of melon and half a dragon fruit (see photo!) which we were waiting for, asked again, only answer; not today. The service was also bad, no one speaks English (or Dutch) which is not a problem, but repeating what you want three times and then getting a different lady is disturbing. For €41.50 per person excluding drinks, it is really too expensive not to have several items, little to no explanation and having to keep repeating…. Shame!

It’s a good experience to have a dinner here. They have both BBQ and Hot pot for us. And it’s real Asian taste. I like the bar sauce, seafood, spicy soup and dessert. Only the Wagyu beef is too expensive compared with the price, the quality and quantity.

Everything here is quite good. Food is great. But the service is little slow. Also the fridge doesn’t get refilled.

It is a strongly recommended Chinese Restaurant, especially hot pot buffet! Traditional spicy soup makes the restaurant a special and delicious one.

Great place for authentic hotpot.

We tried the BBQ and it was very nice! We liked the system where you can order via a tablet. The spicy broth was way too spicy for us but that's just our weak taste buds 😂 You can also mix your own dipping sauce. It was in the middle of summer and the room was very hot with all the grills and pots on. It's a bit pricey but worth an experience!

This is the 3 stars Michelin restaurants for me. You deserve to travel to this seclude area in Amsterdam. The owner gave us free drinks(traditional Chinese one) for all of us. Really enjoyed the dinner 😍

The food is tasty, But the service is very bad! They don't speak Dutch (not even that much) but when you ask for ala carte dishes you just get a no without any text or explanation, which is a shame, there were delicious dishes on the menu! And it seems to me that you want to earn something! And if you order drinks via the tablet and you make a mistake and you explain it calmly, the waitress just walks away! So we ended up drinking the bitter lemon that we both didn't like with long teeth!

I imagine crispy duck to be different, it wasn't particularly tasty Ordered the food already prepared And the price is a bit exaggerated

Amazing Chinese food in an atmospheric setting. The food was one of the best Chinese food I had in my life, with the restaurant offering both a hotpot and a BBQ plate. The quality of the meat was top-notch and it was so so so tasty. The servers were also super lovely. Overall, an amazing experience.

I wanted some ice cubes, but the waiter refused me very harshly, saying that I couldn't ask for ice cubes if I didn't order a drink. Moreover, there were suspected expired foods in the dishes, and the sweet potatoes were somewhat spoiled. Will not come again. We love this place and come here quite often! It’s a sort of all you can eat with delicious authentic Chinese hotpot, a sauce bar, fridge full of different noodles, and also warm dishes you can order. Drinks can be a little pricey but for little less than 40 euros per person you can really eat well and plenty. Some weekdays apparently it costs less than on the weekend. I also like their ice creams and it’s halal which is great 👍🏻

It is cozy place and packed with people when we visited . There are many options for vegetarians and a heaven for meat eaters.

Hands down the BEST hot pot and grill place in Amsterdam (if not the whole of the Netherlands). We have literally stopped going to other places because we don’t feel like anywhere comes close to the food quality and selection + price/quality ratio that you get here. The service is fast- like most all you can eat places you just get an iPad (and now you can also do QR and order through your phone) and tick the items you want and they’ll come in 5 ish minutes (sometimes 10 if they are cooked dishes). The regular, spicy, and chicken soup bases are all great- we always get the dual hot pot base so we can have two soup bases (one spicy and one non spicy). The regular hotpot and grill meat and seafood options are all there- pork belly, beef slices, shrimp paste, shrimps, pork ribs, and more. The hot dishes are also good- in particular would recommend the fried duck and fried pork. They also have an open fridge where you can get vegetables (bok choy, spinach, etc) and in particular you MUST get the lamb skewers- you can take as many as you like and we are eating these in between every round because they are one of the best things here (the seasoning is kind of like Mongolian bbq and it’s phenomenal). Finally dessert is included- they have some fried banana which you can just take and also you can order ice cream with them. The best option that we normally get is the shaved ice (mango)- it’s got the Taiwanese ice dessert/bingsu vibes.

Ala carte menu is disappointing. The dishes served are unauthentic and do not reflect what is shown. It’s an embarassment to sichuan cuisine I was looking forward to the Chong Qing grilled fish (38.50eur) but was surprised that they served it with 3 fish fillets instead of a whole fish. I expressed my disappointment to the staff who reasoned that they “prepare the dishes based on what ingredients were available on the day itself” and that the next time it would “definitely be a whole fish” I don’t think it is fair for me as a consumer to gamble with my monies just to have an “opportunity” at receiving a whole fish, which was what was displayed on the menu. It seems to me that they just put together some dishes from leftovers from the hotpot + bbq fare, therefore resulting in unauthentic dishes. Similarly for the tomato and egg soup, despite the hefty price of 19.50euros, there was barely any tomato and egg (see photos). It was mainly water and salt. It pales in comparison to what was reflected in the menu. Never coming back again. For a more authentic experience, visit Fulu Mandarijn instead.
