This lunch and coffee shop is located next to the Frans Hals Museum, highly recommended. When the weather is nice you can sit outside on the rear terrace and enjoy the sun and the beautiful wisteria bush. Friendly staff, good food and enjoyment 'a hidden gem' in Haarlem!

Erg leuke mooie hippe rustige plek met goede koffie en lunch. Leuke binnentuin. Ik bestel altijd een lunch met avocado. Groot nadeel vind ik dat de avocado ook met de zwarte stukken geserveerd worden. Dat is bij beide cleef restaurants. Zwarte plekken betekenen dat ze rot zijn op die plekken. Daar zou ik op letten! Dan zou het 5 sterren krijgen.

Surprisingly tasty. I had the smoked salmon and I haven't had such a tasty lunch in a long time.

Actually a secret gem, this lunch restaurant. Very nicely located and a menu full of tasty lunch dishes. Highly recommended, but don't tell anyone. It is still untouched and relatively quiet. No “Urban Arrow mothers with attitude meeting place” and as far as I'm concerned it can remain that way.

Kitchen closes at 15:00 and waiter was pushing us out not even allowing couple of minutes in piece to find another cafe.

Vooruit op ons bezoek aan het Frans Hals Museum wilden wij hier lunchen. De formule is dat je een tafel uitzoekt, waarna iemand van het personeel naar je toekomt om de bestelling op te nemen. Op zichzelf prima, maar dan moet het (jongere) personeel je wel zien. Het lijkt erop dat er minder horeca-ervaring aanwezig is, want de vier dames in de bediening/keuken - druk aan het werk - kijken niet of nauwelijks de ruimte rond richting hun klanten. Het duurde even voordat zich iemand aan onze tafel meldde. Onze bestelling van een broodje pulled chicken en een paar glazen Chardonnay werd vlot uitgevoerd. Daar wordt ongevraagd een gratis glas water bij geserveerd, netjes. De kip was o.k., het broodje was minder en de wijn was goed. Daarvoor rekenden wij 16,50 euro per persoon af, aardig aan de prijs. Wij wilden nog een glas wijn bestellen, maar tot tweemaal toe lukte ons dat niet door het in zichzelf gekeerde personeel. Dat ging dus niet door. Met het afrekenen hetzelfde verhaal, totdat een groepje nieuwe klanten naast ons wilde gaan zitten en onze tafel nodig had. Toen bleek dat we verondersteld werden naar de counter te lopen en daar om de rekening te vragen en af te rekenen (dus niet aan tafel). Dat is toch een beetje bijzonder: niet aan de counter kunnen bestellen (maar aan tafel), maar daar wel moeten afrekenen (en niet aan tafel). Het zou goed zijn om de klanten dat beter duidelijk te maken in plaats van dat die minuten achtereen naar het personeel kijken om opgemerkt te worden.

Awesome! One of us has a weak back and was dreading the modern chairs on the lovely terrace. An easy chair was moved from inside to outside without any problem. What a service! We also had a delicious lunch from super friendly employees, highly recommended.

There is also a sheltered courtyard where you can sit. Friendly staff. Delicious apple pie.

Nice place with a partly arbor-like inner courtyard next to the Frans Hals Museum: to rest in between, eat a very delicious broodje and have something to drink. Rather expensive (€11.95 for a sandwich, €4 for a large cappucino), but really good cappu. There are also toilets directly attached to the museum... 😉 Friendly, friendly service. Accessible to disabled people. Access also possible via the museum. I'll be back!

quality for the price 3 … Sandwich for 11,00e very small, low in ingredients. Set soup and sandwich for 15,50- for people who have little hunger. I went for the first time and was disappointed.

Lovely cafe with sunny terrace, great food and excellent service. Went back for a second time as enjoyed it so much. Excellent open sandwiches and tasty cakes and coffee. Would totally recommend. Good value for money as well.

Net en leuk café, goede sfeer, maar waarom…… accepteren ze geen cash? Dus let op Alleen PINNEN. Persoonlijk vind ik dit een slechte ontwikkeling. Moet veel beter vermeld worden niet alleen klein op de kaart maar zeker ook groot op de deur. Ik was anders niet naar binnnen gegaan

Great place that is run with great taste not only when it comes to food. My smoked chicken sandwich exceeded my wildest expectations when it comes to how delicious it was and how high quality produce was used to put it all together. Above that staff is friendly and attentive and I left feeling spoiled.

This little cafe linked to the Frans Hals Museum - Hof section in Haarlem is a gem. Mostly outdoor seating. The short menu had nice options with a very helpful wait staff who were also the cooks. Our lunch salads were very very good. We thought we were ordering chicken salad, no it was salad with chicken and lots of other goodies. Inexpensive, relaxed, great place to stop if you are going to the Frans Hals.

I’ve enjoyed a typical dutch lunch (minced meat ball on bread) under the green leaves at the sunny patio. A delicious moment at the hidden and quiet backyard.

Mooi museum, hele fijne audiotour die je meeneemt door het verhaal achter de kunstwerken.

Feb. 2022: Leuk café met uitzicht op een binnenplaatsje dat zowel een entree heeft vanuit het Frans Hals museum als via de straatzijde. Exploitant is relatief nieuw en dat is te merken aan de nog karige kaart (wellicht door opstart na corona-lockdown) die bij de broodjessectie alleen witbrood biedt. Bruin is gezonder en beter voor de stoelgang. Gelukkig was de keuken flexibel en maakte als alternatief een heerlijke zalmsalade voor mij. Cappucino verkrijgbaar als décaf met havermelk.

Heerlijk gegeten, hele leuke bediening

Een aanwinst voor het museum! Lieve mensen, lekkere broodjes, bijzondere koffie. Heel fijn!

Een heerlijk, fijn ingerichte lunchplek midden in de stad met een geweldig binnenterras

Cleef Frans Hals zit in een gedeelte van het Frans Hals Museum maar heeft van buiten af ook een eigen ingang voor niet bezoekers van het museum. Het is er gezellig druk en bediening is vlot. De kaart is vrij ruim, alleen de prijzen van een broodje lijken mij stevig. Wij hadden espresso's en tosti en dat was prima.

Lovely Lovely staff, menu has just enough choices for variety without driving you crazy. They are royal with ginger for the ginger tea so you know by now that gets all round thumbs up from me. It's a restaurant on its own that you can access without having been to the Frans Hals museum. Located in a lovely street with where old Haarlem seems to have stood its grown in this modern world. I especially love this creepy crawly plant that offers shade in the open garden terrace with its green and purple 💜 colours. Food is good and you get quite a large portion, Zelf made and baked 😋. The deco is simple and cute. I was quite peckish so there are unfortunately no pictures this time 😕

Really nice addition to the neighborhood, good food and drinks and very nice people in the historic setting of the museum!
